I have never written a review before,but just felt I needed to after our horrible two hour pricey experience last night at this restaurant. I chose what the server told us was a special. Two of the others in our group of four ordered a steak. When our meals came the first time, only one was correct. After several attempts and getting our meals correct mine came at the time everyone at the table was almost finished. Then came time for the checks. Told mine would be complimentary, only to discover it was on our friends bill. Also, it was not the $7.99 special as promised and then eventually put on our tab. After speaking with a manager she gave us a business card with a $10 discount hand written on the back of card for our next visit. We paid our bill and left after handing her back her business card. I wish I could give no stars but I can't. We came in with a group of 10 which may be a lot but most of the family are seasoned waiters from their high school and college days. This was arguably the worst service that I have ever experienced. The food wait times were at least 45 minutes with drink cups often empty and no rolls to be seen unless asked. The server was also MIA most of the time. Restaurant is incredibly cold and felt like an icy prison as the waitress made us wait 30 minutes to get our checks together. In fact, we had a member of our group compile the 2 credit cards to take to the front and/or manager to push the process through. Most of the food was mediocre. The sirloin steak was cooked rare and correct but the cut made it absolutely unpalatable. It was the worst steak I have ever eaten. The best place in Marion to eat. Prices are good and the food is great. Your staff is polite and very helpful.

Went there a couple days ago for lunch. It wasn't busy at all, maybe about four or five tables. Our waitress was friendly, but seemed to be in la la land. She forgot our plates and butter for the rolls. We saw her behind the hostess station talking to the other waitresses and then she leaned against the wall and closed her eyes. She didn't come check on us until the soup came. The baked potato soup is very good here. The food is average. I had lemon chicken with rice and garlic mashed potatoes. I'm pretty sure the potatoes were old. I couldn't finish them. I was accidently charged for the dinner portion instead of the lunch portion, but I got that straightened out with the manager. I'm not in a big hurry to go back. read more

The Steak was seriously undercooked. I asked for medium well and received rare. They did replace it and removed my entire meal from the bill. The second Steak was excellent. read more

I am very disappointed in the management at Marion's Steve's Dakota Grill. As it is a Saturday, they do not accept reservations on the weekends. I arrived approximately 1:15 pm in hopes to get the party room expecting my guests at approximately 2:00 pm. When I arrived no one was in the party room, however, I was told it was unavailable because people associated with the Palace Theater in MARION would be using it. I was confused and asked but I thought you didn't accept reservations on the weekends. The manager responded by telling me they do not accept reservations. [I am still confused and thinking to myself, how is that not a reservation?]. She went to put some tables together for our party of 15. The arrangement that was given to us was unacceptable and I had to ask for it to be fixed. They had too many chairs crammed in on place. They had added chairs to the end of the tables allowing for not much room. When I asked to move to a more open area I was also instructed that the tables I was referring to are reserved for the palace people as well. They were able to add an additional table to help accommodate us only after I instructed her on what I was wanting because I was being told a table couldn't be added. The service provided by are server was good. I found it very interesting that when we left at approximately 3:45 pm that no one had filled the seats in the party room, they remained empty. I find it very unprofessional to be selective of who can make reservations on the weekends. I know I will not plan another family gathering at this restaurant. read more

On 9/09/14 my wife and I took my brother and his daughter to this restaurant for his birthday. It was our first visit and it was a three star recommended establishment from a Yelp search. From the moment we initially arrived on that Tuesday evening the Hostess/Manager wanted to seat us somewhere we didn't prefer. We told her we were waiting for my brother to arrive and wanted to wait by the windows and she told us that area was reserved for larger families. We told her we would gladly go elsewhere to eat when she sat us by the windows. Please keep in mind this was Tuesday night and they were not busy at all. We told our Server, Brandon that it was my Brother's Birthday in the event they might do anything special, i.e., sing an embarrassing Birthday song, provide a complementary dessert or anything of the kind. But not only did none of those things happen, they never even offered us a dessert we were willing to pay for it! I ordered a New York Strip and received a Rib eye and my niece's steak tasted & smelled like it fell into an ash pit. In fact she ended up getting sick to her stomach later that night. When we brought this to the attention of the Server, they only offered to make her another steak which she ended up taking home. When the Manager/Hostess, whom we had to ask to come to our table to address our issues only gave excuses for why the steak might have smelled the way it did. Never once did she apologize or offer to reduce our check for all our troubles. To make matters worse, we completed a "Guest Satisfaction Report" the very next day (9/10/14) and mailed it to Mr. Michael Tsavaris, President, Steve's Dakota Grill, P.O. Box 305, Ontario, OH 44862 and shared verbatim the above comments and you would think he would have replied with his genuine concerns or a simple apology but NOTHING!!! WE'LL NEVER BE BACK to ANY OF THEIR ESTABLISHMENTS and WE'LL BE SURE TO SPREAD THE WORD ON HOW WE WERE TREATED!!! read more

Second time here, got stung both times. First time had prime rib over cooked and tough as shoe leather. Thought i would give them a second chance. Big mistake! Ordered top sirloin last nite, med well. Came out past well done. Stated like the other shoe. Will never never visit again. read more

Great service. Went Sunday evening. No one else there. Got the special, pork chop with mashed potatoes and gravy and sage dressing. Worst meal I have ever had. Thick pork chop was coated in something unappetizing so I pushed it off after first taste. Very very tough meat. Dressing was OK. Mashed potatoes and gravy too salty to eat. Three of us got this same meal and all agreed way too salty. Waiter brought potatoes without gravy but they were half the problem. One person got New York strip ordered medium. Came med rare. Good steak but also extra salty. I do use salt but, holy cow!, this was gross. Still trying to quench my thirst! After meal brownie was yummy. Two more parties arrived while we were there. read more

I recommend lunch mainly. They have a soup and salad special that is delicious. I usually get the French onion soup and salad and it is very good. The price is very reasonable. Dinner can be iffy. Sometimes it is good and sometimes not so much. The servers are very nice as well as the daytime manager. read more

Not impressed, have visited here twice and both times service was extremely slow. We left the first time after waiting for nearly two hours for our entrees. We decided to give Steve's another try on a Thursday afternoon and sad to say there was no improvement on service. The appetizer was okay. I ordered a strip steak which was prepared correctly but really had no flavor. The Caesar salad I ordered had wilted lettuce. Hamburgers were ordered for my children and they were burnt so the kids didn't eat them. The only thing good was our bread and drinks. Chief Ramsey would have a field day in this place. A lack of good management and staff training is crushing this place. I will not return, and will travel to Columbus for a decent steak. read more

Stopped in last week with a group of guys I work with started bad from the minute we walked in 6 of us stood there no one acted like they saw us we were told 15 minutes so we went to the bar bartender and manager again acted like they did not see us we are 15 to 20 min in and still not even a drink now groups are coming in and being seated but still no call for us 1 hour in we went back up to the front and were told they forgot us 1 30 min in we were seated our server Amber was very nice and tried her best but this was just not a good night at this eatery all food served at once apps soups everything my ribs hot but steak cold every steak way over cooked very poor quality steaks prob worst steak house I have ever been to. Not a guy at our table ate more than a few bites of there steaks manager wAs informed about issues took 5$ off each meal over 3 hours to get back out the door I think very poorly managed Ray Charles could have seen how poor the food was and it took our server to get the manager to notice the one star is for our server not this place would never eat here again read more

Service was based upon who the servers liked best rather than who was seated first. We took my mother here for her birthday and to say the least the whole experience was embarrassing. After four other couples, who were seated after us, were assisted our server finally stopped by our table after I had to wildly flag her down. The service only went down from there. Half of our food was cold and all three orders were incorrect. We had to ask multiple times for extra napkins and drinks. It was so bad that another couple who was dinning there recounted the lousy service back to us. We have given this establishment three chances in three years (one time a year). Service has not changed, only gotten worse. I am shocked that this place is still open. read more

Eh, ok. Went there two nights in a row bc I was staying next door. Their tilapia dish comes smothered with cheese (which isn't listed on the menu). Makes you wonder what they are hiding. First, I wish I could give negative stars. Second, STAY AWAY! Most disgusting meal ever!! I had to make an account with Yelp just to say how bad this place is! The waitress and the salad were the only 2 things going for this place. My steak I ordered med-well.. It was red wrapped in fat all the way through. Picture a raw heart with plastic stretched over it, that's what it looked like. I told the waitress I didn't like it, she offered to re-cook it. By this point I wasn't hungry any more. The bricks they served as rolls weren't eatable. The maple butter....maybe on a waffle..not with a steak.. My husbands steak was ordered the same way, same steak, it ended up well done on a 1/4 and bleeding on the rest of the way through. The manager came over and told me she would take it off the bill. I told here I didn't care. So, she said she would take half off... Haha. I only took a half inch by half inch bite. Needless to say we will never go back here, as for the taste awful! read more

May 6 2017, I ordered a 12 oz sirloin. It was cut very thin and was extremely tough and full of gristle. I think its the worst steak I've ever gotten in a restaurant. I quit eating after 2 bites. The manager took it off my bill which was nice. read more

Worst steak house ever. Steak was not fresh, tasted like old meat soaked in vineager. The manager was very sarcastic when we complained. The drinks were awful.The blonde behind the bar couldn't make a drink to save her soul. She was a bit snotty. Her and the manager were a bit to chummy. Could be sexual charges as he was flirting and playing with all the waitresses. The bartender seemed a bit jealous of the attention the younger girls weere getting. There must be something wrong there. No one cared about our food or drinks. Won't ever go back. read more
