When I hit the lot, a brand new Equinox was giving me love vibes. I knew she was mine when I saw her. Being true to my visit, I did the pre owned test drives. But my SUV was calling me. The Service Department at this Chevy Dealer is a price gouging dealer. I needed a required GM Software Update to be applied to my car ( 2019 Bolt EV ) and I also asked for an additional Software Update ( based on GM Technical Service Bulletin 20-NA-170 to fix a constant and annoying clicking noise ), for which they charged me $250, even though there were already updating the entire software per GM recall. Moreover, they told me that it would cost me $500 if they had to go thru the extended warranty I bought with the new car. This leads me to believe they can put any price they want, which is ridiculous. I know for a fact that my car was ready in about 30 minutes for both of the software updates ( I saw it parked in the exit alley ) but of course nobody let me know. I have been talking to the Service Manager Joe C., who was very rude and is sticking to his price, even though the "average price" for this is between $100/$150 according to the ChevyBolt forums. I have been a Software Engineer for more than 30 years, and I know how much work it is to update this kind of thing ( Server / Laptop / Desktop ). There is no way this additional Software Update can take more that 5 min to install. I did open a BBB complain about this. I will never go back to them for anything. unless they agree to their mis-handling of my case. read more

This is the second and last time I will ever bring my 2017 Volt in to be serviced at Stewart Chevrolet. On my initial visit, my car's bumper-to-bumper warranty was still active and I had requested that the service department look into various issues I was having with my navigation system periodically freezing or becoming unresponsive and intermittent issues with touch screen interactivity. I was told that the issues could not be replicated or identified and that there was nothing that could be done. I had requested even a reinstall or reboot of the navigation/touch screen software and was told that was not a procedure that was performed by their service department. A few days after my vehicle had been returned, I noticed that the voice command feature for making handsfree mobile calls was no longer operational. This was a brand new issue that had been introduced by whatever service had been performed on the system. I called the service department and reported the issue, and asked if my service record could be updated to state that this new issue would be fixed the next time I brought the car in for service. I was told that this would be noted in my service file. When I brought the vehicle back in for service on Monday, November 23rd, I was told by Will Dea that there was no such note in my service record and that since the vehicle was now out of warranty, his hands were tied and I would have to be charged $400 just for a diagnostic assessment of the voice command issue. I find it reprehensible that my initial issues with the electronics system were met with apathy and led to no resolution while the vehicle was under warranty, only to then be told that I would now be charged to investigate the issue created by that very same service department now that the vehicle was out of warranty. The fact that there was also no record of this issue in my service record as I'd requested is also evidence of a lack of even the most basic customer service accountability. Both experiences give me zero confidence in the Stewart Chevrolet service department, and I will absolutely be warning others away from this dealership in the future. read more

I have been a customer of Stewart for over 18 years and purchased 4 vehicles from them. in March I was involved in an accident. my car was taken to a body shop., After two months my car was back together but the body shop could not get the fan to work. They called me and said it needed to go to the service department where I purchased the car. when it got to Stewart Chevrolet (formerly Stewart Cadillac and Chevrolet) the service manager accused them of placing a defective part in the repairs. However the part was sold to them from Stewart's parts department. So Stewart ordered another of the same part and installed it. I am guessing that part was defective as well as now not only was the fan not working but the car was throwing sparks as well. The service department then determined that the car needed a new wire harness(part number 84524532) which was discontinued by General Motors and no replacement part available. My Cadillac 2019 XT4 has only 16,193 miles on it. The car not quite five years old and still under warranty. Why isn't the part available or discontinued? Makes no sense. There have been no recalls on this car . I asked for a copy of the diagnostic on the car which I have yet to receive; In the meantime the car sat on there back lot as it could not be repaired until such time when the body shop took the car back. It had already been repainted and clear coated however now it was covered with dirt and bird residue. Bird residue is toxic to paint. The right thing for the dealership to do is buy back the car since they cannot repair it. In the meantime the insurance examiner for State Farm said the accident did not cause this part to fail. So it is either the fault of the body shop or the service department at Stewart Chevrolet. Well if they accused the body shop of placing a defective part that was purchased from Stewart's parts department and yet placed another of the same part was replaced by the service department at Stewart then I would say that It is the fault of Stewart and General Motors for not having the replacement part available. The dealership or General Motors needs to buy back my fully paid car. I have now been without a car for 5 weeks and still paying insurance. I have been left in limbo. Thank you. Went here to test drive a Chevy Bolt in February 2020. Hubby and I had never leased a car before. I had a lot of questions about the process because I didn't want to get ripped off. One of the answers to my questions about why the cost was thousands of dollars higher than what I had read about online in the Bay Area for Chevy Bolts was very frustrating. Employee straight up told me "leases are very complicated, you wouldn't understand that." It should be a surprise to no one that I didn't want to do business with a place that didn't respect me. We took our business elsewhere and saved over $2000. The service department at this dealer is unacceptable. I recently sold my 2023 Bolt EV back to GM as a lemon after 3+ months of getting my front suspension repeatedly serviced by a handful of dealers all over California. I live in both LA and San Francisco. Stewart Chevrolet was far and away the worst experience out of any of them. Staff were rude and condescending. (Except the cashier, she was pleasant.) No services were provided in terms of alternate transportation. And worst of all, as a warrantied customer, I was FORCED to pay a whopping $600 out of pocket to drive my 6-month old car off their lot. Outrageous. This was the ONLY dealership that charged me a dollar for anything related to service up until my repurchase. This was so out of line that even GM acknowledged their behavior as shady by refunding me my money as a part of their settlement package. Take your car to literally anywhere else for service. All of this doesn't even begin to mention the ridiculous markups their sales department adds to new vehicles. When I was looking at Bolts, I was told that models on the lot were to be sold at $5k over MSRP, and custom-ordered ones $3k. Just for doing business with them! Stay away, folks. read more

I received an inspection, and an old recall was found for which parts were ordered for later installation. I was able to do work on my laptop with wifi and coffee while waiting. If you have a Corvette, do yourself a favor and take it to Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista, CA. Took my car to Stewart for 2 problems, both problems were not fixed yet I paid for the repairs. For one "repair" they had my car for 1 whole month. Abel Chevrolet fixed both problems in 10 days despite having limited service tech staff. Additionally, for another issue covered under warranty, I am owed $120 for rental car reimbursement that was inadvertently paid to the dealership instead of being paid to me by my extended warranty provider. It has been just shy of a year and they still can't figure out they owe me money after multiple attempts engaging them for reimbursement. Simply incompetent service and accounting. No more excuses. Car buying is one of the most stressful experiences. I think I'd rather bra shop than buy a car (and for the guys out there...just take my word for it few women like to bra shop). Buying at Chevy was a - dare I say - fun experience. I walked in just to see what the Blazer was all about (I had no plans to buy that specific day but was thinking about pulling that trigger soon) and ended up buying the Blazer. Working with Jonathan, we quickly agreed on a purchase price, trade in value of my vehicle and other terms of the deal. Then the dreaded paperwork......Ed was amazing! He was friendly yet professional. Doing contracts for a living, I was particular about all the terms being included correctly. He didn't even flinch when I asked the umpteenth question to be sure everything was in order. Getting the keys.....my Blazer was primed and ready to go! Sparkling clean from the detailer, full tank of gas, and one of the newer guys (gosh I forget his name) helped to make sure I was all set up with OnStar and connecting my phone to the Sync system which allows handsfree calling. Great service at this dealership However this time I am upset that they are Short staffed and have had my van over 7 days with No diagnosis I complained to Joseph Cassisi (service manager) That the van has been in the shop since this past Friday He has been very helpful and made sure they step it up I finally have a diagnosis and a pickup date this Monday to get it back ! On 10/14/2024, my wife and I travelled 60 miles to visit Stewart's store and look at a truck they had listed on their website for sale. We met with Brian D. and ultimately bought the truck for the price listed on the ad. We were referred to Randy H. who handled the paperwork. We thought we were experiencing a great consumer experience. We would later discover just the opposite. My wife and I had 2 important (and easily resolvable) issues we shared with both Brian D. and Randy H. One involved an "optional" equipment fee that they tacked onto our bill that was listed nowhere in the on line advertisement. They both made commitments to us that they would work on resolving those issues and would connect with us. Randy H. specifically provided me with a date when he promised to call me and provide an update. We never heard back from either of them. I called and was forced to leave multiple voicemails for Randy H. and he never returned my calls. I noticed on the Yelp site that many of the negative experiences other customers spoke about were followed up by a "cut & paste" response from manager Jonathan B. outlining how important customer service was to him and encouraging customers to call him so issues can be worked out. Well, I did just that. I've left multiple voicemails for Jonathan B. over the last 3 weeks asking him to call me back. Every message was respectful, polite and I shared my belief that it would be simple to resolve. Jonathan B. never called me back either. Stewart Chevrolet cares about one thing; taking your money. The minute they achieve that, the customer is no longer important to them. We would not use these guys at all. we had an appt to go in and buy a truck for a set price we had agreed upon. They emailed us the night before to say another salesman had sold the truck earlier. They said it was because we did not come in sooner, I had COVID, told them and they said ok, and we made the time and day they agreed to. This is not the first time they have done this. Be aware that they don't practice good business ethics. Took it back spoke to Service Manager Joe about the issue ? They said wait let's see what's the issue let me put our top Mechanic on it right away ? They come back to tell me it's a different issue/ code you need to pay $2500 to replace the ABS System . The worst Experience ever to scam me straight up. Dishonest and Unethical. After negotiating with a sales person (Bryan DeLeon) for about a week over emails and securing the final "out-of-the-door" price in writing I arrived to purchase the vehicle and was not able. The sales manager insisted that I buy a third party vehicle anti theft device (GPS tracking) they have installed on the car for another $1.295.00. This was a deal breaker and I walked out because I refused to pay for it and they refused to take out. For those not familiar with this device (RecovR), it is pre installed on vehicles so dealers can easily track inventory on the lot and then try to pass it on to the end consumer as a benefit to the customer. Here's how the scam works. Dealer installs a GPS device in the car so they can track their inventory. Device costs $30 and takes 1/2 an hour to install. Instead of removing the device when they sell the car it stays there and they charge you $1,295.00 Here's how the device is sold to the dealer: ZAZ GPS can transform your inventory management cost into a growing revenue center that can add hundreds of profit dollars to each sale. https://dealers.zazgps.com/ Even if they offered this GPS tracking device for free, I would want them to remove it as a matter of privacy. Those trackers are common at places like "buy here pay here" lots. Bryan is not the problem here because he went back couple times but the sales manager insisted that I buy this device, so I walked out. My advice to prospective buyers is to avoid this dealership. The greedy sleazeball sales manager ruined many hours of work on this purchase. Stewart Chevrolet charges $1000 for a diagnosis. They wouldn't tell me how much before I get there. Then when I arrived they gave me a quote for $1k for a diagnosis. I refused. This however was after I scheduled my entire week around the appointment as well as my wife's schedule. I knew better than to bring it to the stealer ship. The time before I brought my Chevy HHR in for a diagnosis they told me it had a contaminated fuel tank and would cost $3-$5k to fix. I refused. After I brought the car home I removed the gas tank and it was clean. I finally diagnosed the vehicle somewhere else and they found out it has carbon on the valves. They replaced the cylinder head for around $1,500. Never take your car to the stealer ship. If they didn't have so many thousands of people to rip off they certainly would be out of business. read more
