Second day in Folsom after driving out quattroporte from LA. Wasn't expecting to need a service after owning the car for less than a month and having it serviced (overcharged) at another location in LA less than 1000 miles ago. Drove to pick up the kids from school and next thing I know I got pulled over by the CHP for spewing coolant all over the road and honestly saving me from overheating the car! I had it towed to another shop and they were uncomfortable dealing with the situation so I ended up paying for AAA upgraded tow to 100 miles and towed it to Stewart's. Called them up about it and they were very confident as they see these cars regularly. While they are not the most convenient to get to from Folsom but after experiencing top notch service, I would tow my car to Stewart's any day! Besides, it's just off the 50 Stockton blvd exit! As easy as they come. I had another drip of liquid and was previously thought to be Rear main seal by another friendly shop in LA, Stewart's looked into it and told me it was just the transmission pan gasket so we also took care of it. It was missed by the previous shop in LA as well! I also knew the motor mounts needed replacement and they also informed me as such. I had Stewart's take care of it all and it was very reasonably priced! While I have a shop just down the street from me in foreign autohaus and drives by it everyday, I would not go within 6 feet of that place! Anyone thinking the reality is having to pay up a premium AND DEAL WITH TERRIBLE ATTITUDE at foreign autohaus, call up Stewart's and get a AAA membership for towing instead. Save yourself some money and get great customer service and proper knowledgeable service of your specialty car! On a side note, my own father and uncle used to come to Stewart's with their old Jaguar 30+ years ago and I've made full circle coming back to the same shop they have trusted their European cars. This business used to be good for value and ROI, however this week proved to me that there is a total lack of knowledge on troubleshooting for Range Rovers. I had a multi issue appointment set for Monday and the person never showed. I left my RR for engine light on !!! "no problems found" light out. Drove away, '100 yards' light comes back on after paid the $375.00 for dropping the RR off along with explanations of past repairs done towards engine light on. No solution or explanation of why! I have owned two Bentley's and now a Rolls Royce, all serviced by Stewart's. Last spring I experienced a problem with my Spirit of Ecstasy lowering. Took it to Stewart's and thought we had the problem solved. I appreciate they tried to find a solution that did not bankrupt me, but it did not work out. The problem surfaced again after I had my car for @ 1 month post repair. Stewart worked with me, even offering me the use of his personal car, while mine was in the shop again. I was wrong, the part I said to replace didn't need to be replaced. Matt saved me $1,500. They took their time and found the actual issue. Dear Mr Stewart, I have been bringing my cars to you for almost 20 years. Jags, Benz, BMW, maseratti, bentley ​ and most recently a range rover. I have never met you personally but I can assume you are a good business man due to your longevity here in Sacramento. You are by far not the cheapest mechanic in town but I always come back because of the family feeling I got doing business there. Matt was always incredible and the lady by the door is a sweetheart and the dogs are awesome too. Which brings me to Mark your new receptionist. Owning several businesses myself I know first hand how one bad apple can ruin an entire business, especially if that person is the face of your business. Well over the years I have spent tens of thousands with you and was about to spend a few more but I walked out and will never return as long as he is working there. I won't bore you with the details but I will warn your customers that Mark will price guage you, and if you call him on it will blame the owner and act indifferent. I'm not gonna flat out call him racist but my intuition is never wrong. The very least he is condescending and will attempt to take advantage of you while trying to trick you into signing paperwork for service not needed. I left stewarts went up the street to another mechanic Matt referred me too while being a good dude trying to help me out, and guess what 5 minutes later I had a diagnosis from the cpu reader. Mark was gonna charge me 650 3 hours of labor to hook up a code reader. It took 5 minutes and he did it for free. I would have happily paid the regular diagnostic fee as I always have and been happy to pay a premium for service. I could go on forever about the disgusting interaction I had with Mark and his flippant attitude but I'll just say this. By losing me as a customer and the referral business I have sent over the years you might as well give him a raise because he just cost you more than double what you are paying him. Plus whatever damages this review will cost. This a warning to you about your business and to your customers about Mark. I'll keep this to the point. This review does not pertain to those that have late model exotics (aka recently manufactured expensive cars). This review only pertains to more vintage exotic cars. I've heard and learned of Stewart's quality work before and tried to get them to work on two of my exotic cars, one German and one Italian. Their website says "late-model" cars but the photos and reviews show vintage German and Italian cars in their shop. They refused both of my cars. The first one they told me "Yes" and I had it towed to their shop. Then they rejected my car because it wasn't "clean." The second one is an '85 which they said was too old. That hurt. You can't put yourself out there as a mechanic that works on vintage types of cars but then says on the phone that you don't work on vintage cars. If you have a photo of a vintage car on your website that you are showing that you fixed up the. You are saying that you can work on these types of cars. To then say that you don't shows me that you have an honesty problem. But if you're rich with a brand new exotic, then this seems like a great place. read more

Cars can be one of the most expensive things you own, especially when you buy the higher end ones. With that being said, it's only right you expect high quality service on those expensive possessions of yours. Matt and the team are the best in class. Their turn around time is great and you'll always feel as if you're getting the white glove and red carpet treatment. They are VERY knowledgeable, VERY communicative, and will make sure you're taken care of. I've taken my car to Stewart's on 3 separate occasions and all of those times Matt was able to tell me promptly what was wrong mechanically with my car. Think twice before you decide to bring in your British car to get serviced at Stewart's Automotive. They may just ruin your car more by incompetent untrustworthy mechanics. Matt the service advisor is a good guy but some of the mechanics he works with are questionable including Stewart the owner. Spent nearly $5000 in 2 months on 3 separate repairs on my Jaguar F-Type with them in less than a year and it's been one headache after another after I had them work on my car. NEVER have I had any so many issues with my car after until they worked on it. How much I regret bringing my car to this shop. Stewart's Automotive replaced my rear bank 1 high pressure fuel pump and injectors and the mechanic who install the fuel pump damaged the fuel feed line that caused a gas leak. I decided to not have Stewart's Automotive repair my car again because of the many issues they have caused. I brought my car to British Car Service instead and it confirms my concerns and they showed me the damaged fuel line which was caused by improper negligence installation of the high pressure fuel pump. I was so tempted to report this issue with the California Automotive Bureau which would be a solid claim. I'm not going to make this review longer cause I'm so done with this establishment. All I can say is if you want your British car fixed properly don't bring it to Stewarts yet bring it to British Car Service in Sacramento instead and if you own a Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche or BMW bring it to Salerno Motorsports in Rocklin instead. Not sure what to say. I looked online and tried to find a Maserati Shop for a "service throttle body" sign, I called 2 shops and decided on Stewart's and spot with Matt. Was advised to get it in and they will check. I get call from Matt 3 days after drop off with 4 codes pointing to Low pressure fuel pump, and he also mentioned they had similar unit with same issue, so not sure if it was codes or personal experience, I said ok for repair to total approx $1900. I get call back 2 days later that after the fuel pump the car has issues and it is the timing belt, I ok the the repair on phone like fine, go ahead get it going, Now this is mysterious, Matt disappears and Stewart takes over and I get a call that's the vehicle needs a engine. Woah, hold on, I was driving this car and I was getting a "service throttle body" You scanned at $200 hourly rat times 2 for 4 codes Ponting to fuel punp, I authorize another $1900 and then you say timing belt, and boom all of sudden its engine, If that was the case would your scanner not point you in that direction to check compression instead of timing belt? Matt never came back, I had only solid firm calls from Stewart like a good salesman. No more Matt, I guess Stewart took over for the misdiagnosed info. I decided not to get anything else done, paid some money and had my car Towed out today. Undriveable now after they worked on it, heavy smoke like a huge fire, When it went in it was running, and now its just huge fumes of smoke. only issue that came up was "service throttle body" Now I can't drive it anymore, Also the big mystery why was Matt removed from service advisor after I authorized 2 repairs on his saying? Totalled my beloved 3rd Gen 4runner. Had it for 11 years and kept it in immaculate condition even with heavy off-road use and harsh winters and mountain driving. Figured I'd just buy another used one but unfortunately all the used ones had 200k+ miles on them and were beat to hell and not well maintained yet still commanded a high price. I wanted another big off-road capable SUV but was unimpressed with the newer generation styles out there, not to mention the prices. Wasn't about to drop $60,000 for a new 4runner or Discovery or even half that for a newer used 4runner or LR4. Decided I wanted an LR3 Land Rover. World class off-road capability, air suspension, seats 7, luxury interior, and powerful V8 Jaguar engine. Never thought I'd ever consider or own a British car but got bit by the Land Rover bug and their innovation. Finding used one under 100k miles, under $10k, and in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition however was a major challenge. I knew it'd be smart to make sure I had anything I wanted pre-purchase inspected. Matt at Stewart's was recommended to me by a Land Rover dealer tech as "the man" when it came to Rovers, and the LR3 generation especially. I had Matt look at one that I thought was great. He found a huge host of mechanical and electrical/computer issues that would have been thousands of dollars in parts and labor to get up to speed. NEXT. Brought in another one and Matt did the same, this time only finding about $500 worth of fixes. I easily took this off the asking price with the seller and landed me a 2005 LR3 in outstanding cosmetic interior/exterior and mechanical condition, 82k miles, for only $7500. After lifting it with the GAP ID tool, Johnson Rods, oversized tires, rebuilding transmission pan/filter/oil with the upgraded metal kit, tranny, diff, and engine oils, sparkplugs, and some other minor upgrades and fixes, this thing was looking boss. Matt was extremely helpful and offered a ton of advice for months on the truck throughout my upgrades and builds. After 10k miles problem free, the truck's EAS system failed an it was undrivable on its bumpstops. Within 12 hours on short notice, Matt had it diagnosed as a failed compressor, had parts sourced, and finished installing a new compressor to get it back up and running great. Outstanding customer service, communication, and knowledge from Matt in every way. I was glad to be able to put some money back into the shop after all the support Matt had given me since the inspection/purchase of the vehicle. I live in NV, and all Land Rover dealers or private shops here were booked out 3 weeks just for an appointment regardless of priority. These guys at Stewart's don't mess around. Shop was organized, clean, and professional. Full of exotics and quality cars. These guys have a reputation to uphold and have set the standard I'd say in at least a 500 miles radius for others to aspire to. If you ever want to buy a car, especially a luxury or exotic or sports, make sure you get a 3rd party inspection. I went through 4 Rovers and almost $1000 to find the one I have now, but it was worth every penny to find something solid....and make sure you only do it at one place... If I could give six stars to these guys, I would. I have a 1994 Land Rover Defender 90. Out of warranty? Yes. Quirky built by the British probably on a Friday? Yes. Parts and information easy to find? NO. Needs a mechanic that really knows what he is doing? YES. If I had to have the dealer work on my truck, I think I would have either sold it or shot myself by now. Stewart, Michael (the service advisor), and everyone else at this place have always been great. They are honest, they don't overcharge, they back up their work, and they are just a pleasure to work with. If you have a Land Rover or any of the other European brands they service, go here first. I've been a happy customer of Stewart's for over 12 years, first with my 2000 Jaguar XKR that really lived up to the Jaguar Heritage, and now with my second F-Type. The XKR was past warranty when I bought it and Stewart, Matt and Mike were great at keeping it running like new and being compassionate when major repairs were needed. Fast forward to the F-Types, I brought them each in for installation of lowering springs and spacers (and alignment). Stewart's really went to bat for me in identifying and supporting me in going after previous work from another business that did shotty work causing some real damage to my vehicle that should have never happened. The other guy fixed it in good faith, and I brought it right back to be inspected at Stewart's where they identified another (more minor) issue that was in that same area and really should have been found while being worked on, but wasn't. The other business is a big supporter in my car's community and people have been holding back with complaints, but over the years it's become apparent I'm hardly the only case like this. The whispers are growing, which is tough when you have to trust someone to work on a rare car and there aren't many choices on where to go. Never again! My car is in the shop right now with another issue and I can already tell Stewart's is working hard and keeping me updated as we progress. I took my Maserati in for an oil change after I went to the dealership and they wanted $3000 for service. It cost me way less than a quarter of that here. Matt is so knowledgeable and so friendly. We also took our Aston Martin in for routine check. Very fast to get you in and worth the drive from Nevada. My expectations walking into Stewart's were: 1) cheaper than the dealer; 2) high-quality service and repairs; and 3) close to work. Stewart's easily exceeded those three expectations, by a lot (e.g., one of my repairs was done at less than half than what the dealer quoted me). Oh, and the eye candy in the lot ... niiiiiice. The two times that I have been there, I've drooled on two lambos and one phantom (I think). I really couldn't be happier. I get what people have written about Stewart, he does seem gruff, but maybe they just need to chat with him. I dunno. I've only dealt with Matt, who, like everyone has stated, is AWESOME. The first time I went and saw the hardware in the lot, I almost turned around and headed for the dealer because I thought they might not appreciate my bringing in my crappy little LR2 (it's really not crappy, but Lambos and Rolls ... c'mon pretty much all other cars seem crappy). Anyway, I definitely recommend Stewart's. Not only do they treat you right, but more importantly they do an excellent job of taking care of your repairs without overselling or being shady. Based on my two visits (total of $1000+ in repairs) I trust them 100%. I had a coolant leak behind the passenger wheel of my Jaguar STR, I thought it was the heater valve but Matt said it was the coolant hose under the supercharger that needs to be replaced, Which requires 8 hour of labor for the supercharger removal. He also told me the heater valves were recently replaced. I am a 'trust but verify' kind of guy, so he promised me he'd take a picture of the car when the supercharger was removed. This was the most expensive coolant hose replacement I've ever seen but the leak is gone and my heater works better. Had he taken the picture, I'd have given 5 stars. Update I found out after my car went into limp mode in the rain couple of times that my engine splash panel under the Jaguar STR was missing. Last time it was removed was at Stewart's. Now I need to pay $600 for a new one. read more

Stewart and his crew are the best in town, hands down. I have brought them cars ranging from a Ferrari 328 to an Audi S8, and every time Stewart was able to provide me service above expectation and a price lower than his competition. An example of how honorable Stewart is; I brought him my wife's new Range Rover for its first service. Stewart told me that Niello would do the first service for free; and advised I take the Rover to them accordingly. Not many shops in town would tell a customer to go to a competitor to get free service, when I was ready and willing to pay Stewart to perform the service. (I did not know that the free service was available). This is just one of the many stories I could tell about the service, integrity and expertise I have enjoyed from Stewart's over the years. Sure they do not offer a loaner car like the dealer, but given I have received top notch service for substantially less than dealer service costs, I think overall Stewart's is a great value. My cars are important to me, and I would pay more elsewhere were I to think better service was available. But I have not found another shop close to Stewart's. I am thankful for them and recommend them without reservation. read more

My expectations are continuously exceeded by Stewarts. They have serviced our Land Rover LR3 for a while now, and have just been awesome too work with on every occasion - extremely knowledgeable, informative, educating, reasonably priced, and unlike a dealer, they don't fix things that aren't broken just because its on a mileage checklist. I recently also took my Mini cooper (now off warranty, and with a major issue) and Matt - as always - was tremendously patient and helpful. He communicated with the dealer, and because he felt Mini would assist with the repair out of warranty - suggested to send my business to them for a better deal. He even then called me out of the blue to see how it turned out. Are you kidding? Has a shop every done that for you? Not for me. They have a customer for life as long as I have a car they can work on, and I refer anyone I know too them. When we decided to buy euro, we all knew the trade off: refinement in a sturdy vessel in exchange for questionable reliability. For Saab owners, the buyer's remorse and anxiety is exacerbated by two buyouts, a bankruptcy, and brand extinction. Stewart's Auto was up front, they told me what I already knew was wrong, and fixed it, with no surprises. I think I paid a little more than would have if I had went South of I-50, but I figure if people trust their exotic Italian makes with these guys, I could too. The repairs went smoothly, so far so good. The takeaway? Don't buy a Range Rover or Jaguar, they seem to be over represented at every euro garage I've been too. Stewart's was no exception. read more

I have driven by this place several times on my way home from work, and drooled over the hardware they usually park out front. Recently, I found myself in need of their services for my 2003 C32 AMG Mercedes. A lot of Mercedes vehicles suffer from a bad conductor plate inside the transmission which controls the electronic shifting. I decided to tackle the job myself, but knew once my work was done i'd have to loop in a shop to 'reprogram' my computer. I called up Stewart's and spoke with Matt who was very friendly, and immediately knew what i was talking about once i mentioned what i had done already. He told me to come right in that afternoon and they could probably do the programming while I waited. I went in around 2pm, and met Stewart who took my info and began the work. There was a problem with the programming at once point, and he needed an additional 1/2 hour beyond the first quote, which i approved. Shortly thereafter, Matt called me to tell me my car was all done! All in all it was really a little over an hour and my car now feels and shifts like new again. I was very happy with the service i received, and would not hesitate to bring my car back again even though they don't usually work on Mercedes, they are certainly capable and willing to assist. Also of note - while i was waiting, i noticed Stewart offer to have a customer taken home if she didn't have a ride so she could get her car done same day. Now that is a level of service you don't find in almost any industry these days! My only complaint is that they don't work on Ford's, so I can't bring my Mustang in too :) read more

Brought my newly-acquired Lotus Evora to Stewart's for a PPI (technically a post-purchase inspection) and was very satisfied with their work. I dealt with Matt and he was very communicative. In addition to the PPI, I also had Stewart's refurbish the starter (the brushes were worn/seized). They did a great job, provided timely updates, and worked with the dealer and warranty company that covered the repairs.
