Today was my first trip to Stewart's Bistro and it was wonderful. I don't normally order chicken salad at delis or restaurants but today like just had a craving. So, I ordered the chicken salad croissant. I usually ask if it has celery in chicken salad because I don't like celery. The first thing I did when it came to the table was look to see if it had celery. It did. But, the good news.......I loved it! The croissant was warm, soft and yummy! I would definitely order it again. My daughter ordered the turkey and cheddar panini. Both sandwiches came with fries. They were also delicious. Bottom line is that I will definitely be going back! This is hands down the go to place for breakfast in wake forest for my wife and I! Everything is freshly cooked to order with real ingredients not powdered or pre-done and stale. The bread and biscuits are fresh. My personal favorite is the sausage gravy biscuit. Their biscuits have a bit of tang like sourdough which complements the white gravy perfectly! Good wholesome food done right and reasonably priced! Can not recommend enough! read more

Seating is always a huge issue . The owner always in rather abrupt fashion tells you not to be seated unless your whole party is there and then you can order until then you are to step aside and wait while others order . I get it . There is not enough seating to let a party be seated . But it is just always communicated in such a rough way . Honestly if there were more coffee places I would go to another spot . read more

I'm 8 months pregnant and the owner Mr Stewart wouldn't let me sit down while my husband and two friends stood in line to order out food. He says it's policy to stand and wait until your order is ready, demanded to see my order ticket, then he made me stand up and when I told him I'm late in my pregnancy and need to sit, he moved a chair in front of the bathroom hallway and said I could sit only there.......I felt so uncomfortable. The chair he put was in the way of all the servers too.....I understand that's the cafe policy, but there's so many nicer ways he could have handled that. I'm so sad that happened because I go here all the time and the staff is usually polite. read more

This place is absolutely incredible. I started coming here about 3 months ago. Leann Stewart, the owner, has greeted me by name every time I have walked in since my first visit. She treats everyone like family. The food is great and very modestly priced. This is my third day in a row. They have been keeping me fed while I move into a new house. Meh. The line was out the door and it took at least 30 minutes to get to the front. It's very busy (which usually means good food) but if you get irritable with crowds before your morning coffee, I don't recommend this place...very tightly packed. Service is extremely quick after you go through the ordering process though. Food comes out extremely hot and fresh and very quickly. We both got a breakfast sandwich and home fries. Home fries are some of the best I've ever tasted with green peppers. The sandwiches were very yummy! I'll go back, just not on a Saturday morning. read more

My fiancé and I ate at Stewart's with another couple for the (my) first time today. Needless to say we will be traveling back from downtown Raleigh for our new favorite breakfast spot. We visited around 1 pm and it was very busy. The wait was longer than I hoped but was for sure worth it. Drinks: I had an earl grey tea to help soothe my sore throat while my fiancé and friend had excellent lattes. And my friend ordered what he said and looked to be a delicious iced coffee. Food: I don't know how to word my 'if you will mistake' of not ordering breakfast.. Because I really enjoyed my Stewart's signature panini! But quickly after everyone's breakfast arrived I realized I was quite jealous of their meals! My fiancé and friend smashed their Stewart's sunrise breakfast. And his wife ordered the chocolate chip French toast! And man did that look amazing, not to mention she almost finished what was a very good sized portion! Prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality food served. The owners were very active and attentive throughout our visit. Overall, we had an excellent experience! I LOVE STEWART'S! I used to go to high school down the street, and Stewart's was my favorite spot to speed to for lunch. The service is amazing, the food comes out quick, and the flavors cannot be topped, especially for a cafe style restaurant. My usual pick is the french toast and I always add whipped cream to mine. I can never finish eating, always with one or two slices left, so there is PLENTY of food for one person and it comes to just around $5, maybe $8 with a drink (the lemon mint hot tea is to die for). I'm hoping to try the more lunch-y food, but I can never stray away from the breakfast! If I could change one thing about Stewart's, the only thing would be the hours, because closing before dinner is so unfair! read more

I went here recently for lunch. The coffee was amazing as usual! I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant with fries. The chicken salad was flavorless and under seasoned. The fries were old and suffered from being under the heat lamp way too long. Overall the food was just mediocre for what you pay. The food was good but after we ordered and sat down at a table, some guy came sauntering up to our table to tell us about the feta cheese that went bad in the back.... (I had ordered a dish with feta cheese and paid $1.00 more for it). We had no idea who he was since this was our first time there and he never introduced himself, wasn't wearing a uniform, name tag or ANYTHING to clue us in that he might be associated with the restaurant. We thought that he might have been the owner after I inquired about the fact that the feta cheese was a dollar extra. He said HE wasn't concerned about the money and abruptly took a wad of cash out of his pocket and threw $2.00 onto our table. He then hung around and talked to the people at the table behind us for at least 20 minutes after we received our food. It made for an awkward experience and I doubt we will return. read more

Good food but not the best experience. Sat down at a table and was kicked off because I hadn't ordered my food. Got in line and ordered 1 minute later and all tables were gone. Manager or owner came up and I told her about the issue and that most other restaurants do it differently but she said that's how it's here in an unpleasant way. Luckily a nice girl on her laptop over heard us and offered us her table. I understand the policy but maybe reconsider how it is enforced like having a sign in the front or a host. Judging from other reviews this seems like a common problem. Probably will change my review if it changes next time. Good food though. read more

we were in the mood for chicken and waffle. waffle came out great, but the chicken was overcooked and dry. It looked overcooked to me. I sent it back, and they prepared a new chicken but it too was still overcooked and dried out. I suggested to the owner to use a dark-meat fried chicken but he replied that they get them from the supplier already breaded, which not only means that the chicken was not prepared fresh, but it inherently is already dried out because the breading absorbs the limited moisture in the white meat chicken. Owner commented that he could not make everyone happy. My fiancee ordered an omelet and it too came out overcooked and had to be sent back. Unfortunately, the replacement omelet was still overcooked and a little rubbery. Beautiful little place but we were disappointed in the food. Owner gave us a coupon good for 2 complimentary entrees but we won't be returning.Anybody that wants fresh chicken and waffle not frozen patty i am just saying........ read more

Have eaten here more then 10 times. While small and often crowded (good food of course) the turnover is pretty good allowing us to get a great Sunday Brunch. The pay before you sit model works for this place. For a special treat get the shrimp and grits, while quite spicy it is very nice. When an older man in a nasty attitude told my husband to get up and that he had to wait until after I ordered. Obviously having a baby is not important to him. When I first started going to Stewart's I loved it...now, not so much. The food is inconsistent and the warm cozy feeling I used to have there is gone. The staff used to be very attentive, now you have to go get your own refills or carry out containers for left overs. I now feel like it is a chore to get service and when I am not satisfied with the food, the staff is less than courteous and argue with me about my complaints. I have been In The restaurant business all my life so I know how to treat customers. This young staff needs some training and the cooks need to be more consistent. I don't appreciate an employee tell me how my eggs are cooked correctly when they are not...I have been cooking and eating eggs a long time.
