Sticklers - I've been searching for you...and I'm so happy I found you! Since starting a job downtown nearly a year ago I've been looking high and low for a place where I can make my own salad and not get charged an arm and a leg for liking lots of veggies. And, now, here you are! I see a long and beautiful lunchtime life together. With over 30 fresh toppings and mix-ins UNLIMITED for $6.50 you are definitely the healthiest and best value in (down)town. This place is good for lunch. They are pretty efficient and you can get in and out quickly. You can either get a toasted sandwich or a salad. The salad line is really quick and you basically get to cut in front of the sandwich people. If you work downtown or if you are on jury duty, Stickler's is a quick option for lunch. read more

Stickler's is a great place to grab a quick lunch. The prices are good, and the quality is solid. They have a good selection of sandwiches, toppings, and an excellent build your own salad option. It is definately a cut a cut above it's competition. I haven't tried the ice cream and shakes, but I hope to soon. My only major complaint is that the hours are fairly limited. Sticklers closes early during the weak and is closed on weekends, which is pretty normal for downtown restaurants. You should definitely stop in if you want a fast and quality lunch in downtown Phoenix. read more

Really good sandwich place; seriously one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in the valley (if not THE BEST), and, trust me, I'm a huge sandwich guy! There was a long line when I went in (12:00 on a Thursday), which told me the place was decent, but I had no idea that I would be sinking my teeth into one of the best in town! For reference, I got the turkey and Swiss, on wheat, all toppings, no mayo. PS - I live quite far from Sticklers (I was downtown for jury duty), but I have no issues with driving the distance soon just to get in a long line and enjoy my sandwich once again. I did not feel like a Traffic Jam sub even though everyone was bragging about it in other reviews. Chocolate chip cookie was delicious, but ingredient is margarine not butter and there IS a difference. It's alright. Fresh fruit cup was $4.50 for breakfast. I'll try it again. My husband bragged about this place for so long! This is our second try to get breakfast. Last time we were not served because we got here right at 10:30 and they stop serving breakfast at 10:30. Today they were out of almost all bagels. So ordered breakfast English muffin with butter and honey. And they were out of honey too! My first time here was because of the chicken noodle soup, I heard it was a good slurp, and it's true, of all the places I've been downtown for chicken noodle soup, sticklers is hands down the best followed by the hearty chicken noodle soup of downtown deli. Anywho, I was here recently and saw their soup of the day was Cream of Mushroom, and when it comes to that kind of soup I'm a stickler (pun intended) of it because it's my favorite. Well, ordered their Cream of Mushroom, and I don't know my mind was thinking of the goodness and creaminess of Campbell's Cream of Mushroom, so, perhaps I was putting it to a high standard before tasting it, I should have had sample before I committed to it too. Along with my soup I got myself a Vegetarian Sandwich on wheat. Service was quick and prompt, not sure when the lunch rush is but I usually lunch after 1, so, I guess the time I go is when the lunch crowd becomes sparse. Back to the soup. It was steaming, and I dipped my spoon, spooned out some mushroom goodness and was taken aback that it wasn't creamy but quite watery, hmmm, I believe in taking chances, and had a taste. Yea all my high expectations came crashing down, and disappointment creeped up. I'm gonna be honest I got the Vegetarian Sandwich as an afterthought to the soup, you know, a filler. The soup was just wrong, it was watery, it lacked flavor, and i started to miss and yearn for Campbell's cream of mushroom. My sandwich was on point and Sticklers hasn't failed me with their sandwiches, and I started wishing I had the chicken noodle but I didn't want to waste the mushroom, so, I ate the mushrooms in the soup, and threw the rest away. A waste. Overall, I know never to get their mushroom soup, and to stick to the tried and tasty chicken noodle soup. Very good Italian sandwich in the New Jersey/East Coast fashion. Italian meats, shredded lettuce, onion and tomato and that awesome Italian blend dressing (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, dried herbs, etc) The dressing was perfect and classic combination of tart, sweet and salty. Oh and Provolone cheese. Again. Very traditional. Let the dressing meld into the sandwich a bit before eating. Very good, very crusty bread that won't get soggy with the dressing. Too bad zero stars isn't an option. I was very hungry and had stood in line for about three or four minutes and the person at the counter proceeded to help someone who had just cut in front of me. The girl who blew me off was named Maria C and there was another girl beside her with lighter color hair in a black shirt and a hat. Not a hello or anything. I walked and immediately called and spoke to a female manager who didn't care and clearly did not care about satisfying an upset customer or wanting me to come back to give them another chance like 99% of other places would. HORRIBLE experience. You could do much better at Subway, folks. People super rude af here and I'll never go back. Avoid this place...if it's even still here in six months. I've been going to this place for SEVEN YEARS people. The absolute best place to grab a sandwich downtown without a doubt. I go with a Turkey/Provolone with "Everything". OMG. They have never failed me once. It is always excellent and the bread... I could sit in a corner and eat that damn french bread all day. It's like when you go to a great restaurant and the bread that is served before the meal... all warm, chewy... you just want to slather a ton of butter on it and unbutton that top button, ya know? It is awesome. Always clean. There are a ton of people there that are lifers, family place. Just don't hold up the line! I am, once again, reminded how much I love Stickers. You order your sandwich, it's toasted, and then you order your toppings. You MUST, however, order your shake at the very beginning or you will be shamed. The sandwiches and shakes are divine. The line moves quickly. And at lunchtime there is always a juror in the line who hasn't been downtown in 5 years and wants to talk about how pleasantly surprised he/she is at the changes. I was inclined to write this review because I am very displeased. I called the location on 30 n 3rd Ave, 3rd Ave and Washington from work on 7/6/2016 at 11:32am to place a take out order for an Italian Sandwich. "Leonard" took my order and I specifically told him three (3) times to NOT put pickles on my sandwich because I can not have vinegar, along with the fact that I severely dislike the smell and taste. He expressed to me how much he disliked pickles as well, so I thought even though the last two times I ordered this exact sandwich they still put pickles on it resulting in me having to throw it away, that at least this time I had someone who understood my frustration would make sure right? WRONG. I understand that perhaps one person takes the take out orders, then another makes the sandwich, but three times? I drove 10 minutes from work, paid for parking, walked two blocks and paid for a sandwich stuffed with the one food I despise. I called the location to express my frustration and the manager (no name) apologized and said well if you have your receipt I can refund you. Funny, because the woman that rang me up ( as nice as she was) did not provide a receipt. I assumed I was good to go paying cash and taking my sandwich that I was assured wouldn't have any pickles this time. The manager then says if you bring the sandwich back I can remake it, great right? I only have a thirty minute lunch break and they do not deliver to my job, so needless to say driving back downtown, at noon, find and pay for parking for you to remake my sandwich while I hold your hand seemed a bit much at that point. I kindly wrapped the sandwich back up put it in a plastic bag and I am keeping it at my desk and I will be bringing the sandwich back to watch them remake it. It might seem a bit much but for me to be someone who never complains or sends food back it bothers me like no other. The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because I have been in customer service for 10 years and everyone was nice and welcoming up until I spoke the manager about this issue. read more
