It's nice to see a revival of a sandwich shop relatively close to my office. I'd driven by a few times before I even started and it was rough, a bit intimidating to want to stop by. But as of recently the area has cleaned up a bit and changed ownership after 40 years. The new owners have also modernized Old Station during the process - you can order online now & they take credit cards. The shop was formerly a gas station and today's vibe fits the bill - no frills, small interior that can seat about 7-10 people, and a few more tables outside. They have 10-15 different subs, a few sides and drinks to choose from. The couple of times I've been, I've ordered on the spot and it doesn't take long. Super nice staff and willing to make an adjustments to your sandwich if you wish. The one I usually get is the Italian (light on the sauces, on wheat), and a bag of chips or the Mac salad (not too mayo-heavy). A combo will set you back about $15. I've been coming to Old Station for years. It's the only place to eat within walking distance of my job. It used to be an ok, convenient place to grab a quick lunch. Since the new owners have taken over, it's at the top of my order out list. The new owners are fantastic. Super friendly. They make it easy to want to support their business. They've grown the menu and improved the quality. My fav is the smokehouse turkey sub on sourdough. Their fat elvis brownie is a tasty treat. And don't even get me started on their brick sized rice crispy treats in a variety of cereal flavors (i.e. fruity pebbles - are you kidding me?!?!). Definitely check them out! read more

Since I've been traveling a ton for work, I've been getting my sandwich game on any chance I can get and Old Station hit it all for me. When I was driving there I was a little hesitant and then I pulled and this is exactly what I expected out of a local Phoenix spot. The outdoor dining, the inside decor, it was great. I got the station sandwich and it was delicious - loaded with all the toppings, plus avocado, turkey, ham, and Swiss. I also tried out the tuna sandwich, Italian, and turkey. You really can't go wrong. Price - oh so affordable! 4 sandwiches, 4 chips, and 2 drinks for $42. In Denver that would have been upwards of $70 so I'm here for it all! All in all, I know I'll be stopping here every time I'm in town. read more

Met a friend for lunch who works in the area, and I wasn't expecting a lot from the location but WOW! Really cute decor, big front and rear patio, inside is small and "cozy" I don't know if it was a special written on the board outside, but I had the smoked turkey, avocado, cheese wrap with sprouts and I opted for the spinach tortilla. The place was busy but the staff moved quickly and it was surprisingly fast and efficient. When food arrives that fast I always think "uh oh!!!!" My wrap was fantastic everything was so fresh, the turkey was extremely moist and had a good flavor avocado and sprouts were great. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. At $8 dollars just for the wrap is a little pricy for the area but I appreciated the freshness and uniqueness of the place. The location is not really convenient for me but I will go out of my way at some point to try something else. read more

After seeing the stars and reading the reviews here I would have never given this place a shot. Fortunately for me I did not look them up when I decided to stop for lunch because MAN, this place is GOOD. I got the #3 ham and turkey with cheese and all the fixings. Hubby got their special of the day, roast beef with coleslaw and a small drink. The sandwiches were seriously some of the best we've ever had. And the coleslaw???!? So much flavor!! And they were so quick with our order it was stupid. The feel of the place is very old rustic downtown. It's a quick and easy lunch spot with outdoor seating I would love to use in the cooler weather. I would give more stars if I could read more

I work at the Capitol so this place is not too far. Co-worker and I came to this place to give them a try. The location was small but clean. Very well decorated. The workers were fast, friendly, and kind. I ordered a half of a chicken salad sub, and a strawberry watermelon fruit cut. Both was amazing and delicious. Decent quality and decent price. I have known of this place for over 20 years , I have come to het a lunch many times. Back in the day, THIS PLACE WAS LEGIT . Now,,,, not so much . In the past 2-3 weeks i would order the same thing, a 1/2 tuna requesting veryyyyy little oil . They failed every single time. My first time here. Very small place and very crowded at noon. A good sign. It looked like most folks were ordering "to go." I would say go early, if you are going to try this little shop. When we finished eating I was barely out of my seat before someone else was sitting in it. I felt like our spirit auras were going to collide. I had the chicken salad sub. The chicken in the salad was in large enough pieces that you could tell it was CHICKEN.; Some chicken salads are so finely chopped you sometimes wonder. but not here. My dining companion had the special - roast beast and cheese sub. Must have been a good beast, because he ate it all; along with a cup of the chicken tortilla soup. We then polished off two reasonably good choco-chip cookies. Food was good; not gourmet, but good. Best part was the service. Friendly and fast. They do know what they are doing with the products they have to work with. Would I go back? Probably, if I'm ever in that neck of the woods again . . . but only before or after the lunch hour. Why? Been to the Old Station many times and always get the same thing (Hot Pastrami and Cheese). As the photos show, it may not ever look the best but it is a quality tasting sub. I used to be a pretty frequent customer at Old Station. It's located near my job, the food comes out quick, and it's usually pretty tasty. However, I will never eat here again after the last 2 experiences I had. A little over a week ago, when I received my sandwich, there was a plastic straw wrapper tucked in with the lettuce. Gross, sure, but luckily I saw it before I ate it--not the biggest deal, but did make me think twice. Today, though, I bit into my meal and discovered a long, black hair hanging out of it. I immediately lost my appetite, only halfway through the first half of the sandwich. When I brought it up to the counter to show the employee the hair that WAS HANGING OUT OF MY SANDWICH, she literally chuckled and said "OK." No apology, no offer to refund my money or compensate me for the disgusting experience, nothing. I will never eat here again and I encourage others to consider alternative options. read more

If you are looking for a quick bite to eat on your short lunch break, this is the place for you. The staff were very quick - quick in taking your order and quick in getting your food to the table. So quick though that the cashier was rather rude and didn't tell us that there were other bread options besides white and wheat. Now if it had been a full house I could have understood, but it was very slow for lunchtime. I ordered the special - ham and cheese with everything on it. It was just a sandwich - nothing to write home about but it did the trick for a quick lunch as well. For my side, I chose macaroni salad and it was like no other macaroni salad I had ever tasted, but not in a good way. I took one bite and said "nope!" My co-worker had the potato salad and that got a big nope as well! So head to Old Station for a quick bite but do not expect anything more than a sandwich. read more
