Wife and I just had an awful experience here. We both love hot spinach salad, but several minutes after ordering we were told they were out of hot bacon dressing! Couldn't they have told us when we ordered? My wife's French Onion soup was not hot, and the onions were not cooked, still crunchy. My New York steak was dry and flavorless, and my garlic mashed potatoes were lukewarm and dry. When I complained, I got a shrug and a "Sorry". That's all. Staff doesn't seem to care. Ok, there were about three very small lobster chunks on the plate for garnish, but inside the ravioli was some kind of tasteless unidentifiable "paste." Terrible! And YES, just when you thought it could not get worse that pathetic carrot cake arrived. Only mine was microwaved and hot as blazes and the so-called glaze was melted all over the plate. Any Twinkie from a gas station is five-star in comparison. In fact, it's an insult to Twinkies to compare them to that carrot cake. Skip this place! I went here for dinner a couple weekends ago with my mom and dad and partner and I ordered the rib eye steak and this was one of the best steaks I have eaten in a long time. Our last evening in Laughlin, we had dinner here. It is a busy busy place. Make sure you make a reservation. The food is so tasty you will feel like you are in a New York, Chicago or Philadelphia eaterie. I started with the tomato bisque soup. Howard had the house salad with the house dressing. We both enjoyed the warm bread and butter. The tomato bisque was silky and pleasing to the palate. The salad was umptious. I ordered the Queen cut prime rib and Howard ordered the stuffed prawns. The prime rib was cooked and seasoned to perfection. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes and creamed corn. It was magnificent. Howard's prawns were stuffed with crab and caviar. It was as sweet and delicate as lobster. It was served with a baked tan and veggies. I ordered the cream Brule. It was delicate and satisfying. You must come and eat here. I was not very impressed with this place on their steaks. I ordered the New York at $27.00 and medium. The steak came medium well. Ok mistakes happen so they took it back. Steak did come back true medium. The steak was pretty tough and had gristle which had the texture of a low grade steak certainly not worth $27.00. Service was good and attentive ,but we were never told that they had a Special of Surf and Turf by our waiter,wife heard another table ordering the Special. Ordering this was a mistake The lobster was Good and sweet and the best pat of the meal. The crab cakes were just a lump of crab looked like it was a scoop of ice cream.Very unappetizing and small. In keeping with small the petite filet was about half the size most restaurants serve As for my prime rib I have never had so much gristle in a piece of meat. The hostess was not very pleasant, when we first arrived (party of 4) it took us 2 tries to let her know our name to be seated... it was hard to understand her under her mumbling and no eye contact or even a hint of a smile. But she sure gave a lot of tlc for the next couple. We were there for my mother in law's 70th birthday I asked another hostess (vivi) for a little cake and birthday song (since I saw them doing it at another table) by the time we were done nothing happened so I asked our waiter and he made it happen, his name is Bo. I always made it a point to eat at the Hickory Pit when in Laughlin. My girlfriend and I would split the King Cut prime rib. Just visited them again, and the various cuts of prime rib are no longer on the menu. The choice of a bone in ribeye is no longer on the menu. They no longer split orders. I have heard that the quality has deteriorated since the Aquarius took over. This is sad. I will no longer be stepping foot in the Hickory Pit. read more

We were looking forward to a very nice dinner as we always had when it was the Hickory Pit. The server forgot to bring bearnaise sauce for the filet and horseradish for the prime rib. Other person ordered chicken just to be informed "don't order the chicken, its not good." The only chicken dish on the menu. So ordered a caesar salad instead that was drowning in parmesaen cheese and bitter dressing. Replaced it with a wedge salad that was chopped salad. Ordered a loaded baked potato and was only brought sour cream, butter and chives. When asked about the bacon, was told didn't have any and asked about the cheese, brought a small bowl of parmasean. The filet and lobster did get eaten but disappointing. Prime rib half eaten. Asked for the manager "Carri" who informed us she never had any complaints about the food. When we told her about the experience we had, she argued every point. She said well, you ate it. We made a comment to her that no wonder the restaurant was empty, us and two other tables at 7:30 till 8:30 and she said "Well, its July 4th" yet every better restaurant we had called in the casinos were booked up days ahead. This place is in good condition I with bland decor & very uncomfortable seating, the lighting left a lot to be desired and could be better. My caesar salad came with way too much dressing and the lettuce was blah not crisp. I ordered halibut which was very tasty and prepared with the proper texture. The portion was quite generous. The worst dining experience I have ever had! It was so bad it was comedic! It started with our sitting at the bar waiting for a table. The "bartender" did not know how to make cocktails, stuck her nose in an open bottle of vodka to determine whether or not it was vanilla vodka, could not find the wine list, and did not have any draft beers. When the wine list was located, the wines by the glass were far overpriced. It's Laughlin, NV in a restaurant with a Walmart dress code...don't overcharge for the Robert Mondavi! As it turns out, I had to go upstairs to the casino bar to get a draft beer. We should have gotten the clue and left. After being seated our waiter finally arrived. I try and focus on the positive. I've been posting only good reviews for our celebration..until we went to our "nice" dinner. My mother has had bad experiences here, but mine were mostly good so I convinced her. Her potato was black so the server took it away.. kudos. She ordered her filet medium and it was bleeding, she asked for it to be butterflied to well so it was cooked right. In the meantime..our celebratory dinner consisted of me eating alone and then her eating alone..or my food getting cold. The server came by to ask how it was and ran by without caring for an answer. The manager said "she asked you if it was okay" and then said "well ill tell the chef to learn how to cook". Upset my mom, but won't ruin our night. Now they got tables lined up in cafe style, no decorations or even room between tables. Just very sad looking. My steak, although was proportionately huge, was way on the grisly side. $35 bucks for a hunk of something better suited for my dog. This is not to overshadow the fact that my wife spent the next 5 days praying for death, because of the tainted tuna she consumed. First off my family and I have been going here for over 20yrs. Long over do for a overhaul. The tap water taste like it came from the pool. (That's what they cook in) They rather spend more on instant powder mash potatoes than give you a real potato. Bake potatoes are now extra!?! But the odd thing is they will give you sour cream, chives and bacon bits for your mash?!? No more salad or soup with major entrées. They blame it on a bigger and better cut of meat. That's a lie as far as my eyes can tell. Plus if you use a voucher you end up paying $25.99 anyway and you still don't get a full meal with soup or salad or bake potato. How cheap! You also think that a place that's lucky to do 40 covers a night could open up on time. I will admit I'm 39 not 59 like most of there loyal snow birds. But that would explain why they will never be more than what they are. Poor management, and the food and beverage director needs to eat out more at more successful restaurants to appreciate what they don't know or offer his customers. Best of luck to this group cause with the new competition moving in I'll go vote with my $$$ elsewhere. The only time to come eat here is if you get a free voucher to do so. Amazing place especially for Laughlin. I couldn't believe how nice the inside was. It's classy yet has a nice casual cowboy theme to it. Came here to celebrate a 2yr anniversary being in Laughlin there aren't many nice romantic restaurants to pick from. Quite and relaxing dinner prices are great here for it being a steak house and considering all your sides are included. Big steaks very yummy. Service is great too. One of the Best Steak Houses in the Area. It was a busy weekend with waits up to two hours. There were plenty of reasons why they could have rushed on the service or the quality of the dishes. To my surprise they did neither. The Crab cakes appetizers were excellent, the Spinach/Artichoke dip was very good.
