I've lived in Maple Valley for over 10 years and driven by this place so many times and never even giving it any thought. I'd get mailers for this place all the time, but just ignored them. I used to get my Prime Rib and pie fix from the Shari's in Kent, but they closed down. After a long work week, I wanted that and I really did not feel like driving really far. So my wife got out of work earlier than usual and we decided to check this place out on a Friday night. It was about 7:45pm when we got there and most diners were already on their way out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Personally I like that cozy, country decor plus they have Prime Rib and pie![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My son is also a picky eater and most places he only wants the salmon of which Stockton's has a kid's meal. The hostess greeted us pleasantly and seated us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also have a bar next door with live music and I like that the volume from there isn't so loud that it drowns out the dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It took a while for us to go over the menu, but I appreciate being given time to go over that especially to a place I've never been to before. When we ordered the drinks, we got them right away. When we ordered our food, it came out really quick in under 20 minutes piping hot. I ordered buffalo chicken wings and the prime rib dinner. My wife ordered the burger and tots. My son ordered kid's salmon and fries. My wife said that it was one of the best burgers she's ever had so I've got to come in again and try that. This is huge because she rarely compliments quality of food. My son also found the salmon was good. I also really enjoyed the prime rib and appreciate the fact that my slice wasn't mostly fat. We got our pie slices to go. Kudos for have an amazing chef and great wait staff! I was a bit confused if this place is cash-only, but I paid in cash anyway. I also read the reviews online on all other sites prior to coming here and there's this one from a weirdo posting on every review site with a one star and it turns out they were just an angry Karen that didn't get their way. Plan to stay here a while. It was great! The bartenders were so efficient from the moment I got there at 5pm. There was a small rush but I was greeted right away. I ordered happy hour food and it came out very hot and very tasty. We had spaghetti and sliders. Those meatballs were amazing! Food prices were very fair. We tried this place for breakfast on a Saturday. We were up early so we headed over just a bit before they opened and there was a literal line of 10 people. Most of the staff is friendly. However, they do have one server with an attitude. She is impatient and not very competent. I think is because she is a good looking human being and wants you to know that she is special. I have breakfast there most Saturday mornings with a good personal friend of mine. The staff does a fairly good job, and the food is reasonably good. The prices are high. The coffee price is way too high at $ 3.25 per cup, and often times we have to chase down a server to get refills. The breakfast meals are better than average. They must be doing a good enough job to get us back there every Saturday. Sometimes location makes a winner! Important, I will not be drinking coffee there any longer. My family decided to have my mom's memorial celebration at Stockton's on September 28th. From my first call and speaking to Michelle I knew this was going to be the right restaurant for our gathering after the service at Tahoma National Cemetery. The manager Randy was so helpful and positive. He printed off the luncheon menu, let us bring pictures, guest book and the cake ahead of time. The food was very good, everyone got a choice and it was reasonable. There is a partition, so our group was able to be private. We had the space from 2:00 until 6:00. We would highly recommend Stockton's for your event, especially after a service at Tahoma. Randy the manager, Michelle and Rachel our servers were all exceptional. Had weekend breakfast here for the first time. My only regret was not trying the place sooner. It is a fantastic local establishment with traditional diner food. Coffee was hot and delicious. Eggs were perfectly cooked, bacon was just the right amount of chewy and crispy, and the shredded hashbrowns had that perfect toasty brown color and texture. Biscuits and gravy were quite good, too. There were probably 10+ flavors of pie to choose from. Stocktons doesn't seem to showcase or advertise their pies much but they really should because they are high quality and delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to an older crowd. Not that I wouldn't have enjoyed this place with a good friend. I traveled here alone and have visited three times now. I've had a coffee and biscuits and gravy and another time an egg. The eggs are eggselent. haha. The third time I actually went to an event I found on Facebook where they have another room in the back dedicated to live music and bands. Maybe they'll have comedy every once in a while, not sure. It was coupled with a bar that is separate from the restaurant following the path of hallway. At the bar I had a cocktail and it was alright. For travelers this place gives you a good capture of the overall Maple Valley area. Taking a good look at their menu can tell you a lot. That includes their drink menu. And I would say if you do want a better picture definitely visit when they have live music and buy a drink. It's all good. read more

This is my second visit to Stockton's this year and I'm liking this place more and more! This review is for the bar side of the restaurant -- there is a family dining restaurant just on the other side of the wall. Such a fun hometown kind of feel. Good food, nice people and great music! We especially like coming for open mic night! Quite a few of the open mic night musicians are regular musicians in local bands. Lots of different kinds of music from 80s rock to classic country and 90a pop. All very danceable and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. Very casual and fun - for example in between sets they did a contest guessing a band members favorite sandwich ingredient. My friend guessed mayonnaise so she won a giant Costco sized box of goldfish crackers!?! lol- random much? But instead of crackers, the box was filled with books! hilarious! She handed books out to everyone at our table for fun! Also a nice surprise is the art gallery in the long hallway between the bar and the family dining restaurant. They had absolutely gorgeous professional photography on display this week. I definitely spent some time marveling at the beautiful landscapes and pictures of deer while we were there. The food is great for a bar! No doubt it's the same menu as the family dining restaurant next door. I don't think I've ever seen such nice Chicken Parmesan or Grilled Salmon in a bar before! Ha! Average breakfast food, I had the steak with biscuits and gravy. The quality of the steak was average, it was cooked a little rare even though I have asked for medium. Biscuits were not fresh more like yesterday baked and the gravy was not hot. The bloody Mary's were good according to my family that I was traveling with. My wife and I have gone to this location for over 20 years. Since it sold several years ago it has gone steadily downhill. (I understand COVID) but the menu has shrunk considerably & prices have skyrocketed. They used to have a great unlimited buffet 'bar' that you could order separately. Now they have an ok salad bar that you can add to a entrée' for $7.99 for 1 trip thru. In the past year we tried the "prime rib special" which was 50% FAT... We went this time to get fish. They used to have baked halibut/Cod/Salmon. When we arrived we found only salmon on the menu, BUT they were all out on an EARLY Friday. We heard at least 3 other groups order the salmon & be told they were out. We unfortunately settled on a sandwich & soup for me & breakfast for my wife. I received a "tiny" bowl of clam chowder for over $5.00, my sandwich was 60%+ bread, tiny amount of turkey, wilted lettuce. for $16.... My wife tried Ham & 2 eggs over east, hash browns "CRISPY" on both sides. She got meat ham thin slices, and hash browns that were lightly browned an each side & basically raw in the middle. Came in with a friend for lunch. I love Lydia's Bake Shop which is in the corner past the auto parts store so when my friend suggested meeting here for lunch I was thrilled. I was thinking about dessert before we even walked inside. A man gave us a booth in the corner. I was not impressed with the decor, however the waitress was super sweet and very friendly. The owner of Lydia's told me to try the tuna melt. She said it's really special here. I was about to order it, when Teresa said she was getting the Cobb salad. I ordered chicken strips and fries and asked to have the garlic fries as a sub for the fries that came with the chicken strips. When we got the bill the chicken strips alone were $10.99 and the upcharge for the garlic fries were $8.50. I used to always come here when it was Gloria's but I did not receive the customer service I am used to. When I asked about the price I was told it was what it was. I will not be coming back and am really disappointed Update: the owner responded saying the brought me appetizers and that is why it cost so much and that it's my fault I didn't read the menu. Below was my google review response to him. The chicken strips and fries were on the same plate like it would a meal. Spending $20 for what should have been maybe $12 is crazy. All the server had to do what explain to me when I originally ordered that the chicken strips and fries didn't come in a meal since I said "chicken strips with fries but can I get the garlic fries as a sub" this is horrible practice.
