Went with 3 friends we all received a flight, getting over every beer they had. We enjoyed all of them. They had live music and at first we hung out on the 1 couch we were lucky enough to snag playing Jenga and later ordered some food and moved to a table. The two stars are for the beer. The service was the worst I've had in Vermont and that's saying something. It took 45 minutes to get nachos last Friday at 1:15 in the afternoon! It wasn't very busy at all. Bartender was taking orders and tending bar. I get it. Work is hard. However, that is no reason to be outright rude to customers. We got our beers quickly and there was a sampler with some high-test beers so we didn't want to drink them all down without food. 30 minutes passed with him outright ignoring us, turning his back on me when I tried to flag him down to find out if we could just get SOMETHING to eat. Finally swings by, blurts out something that sounds like, "technical difficulties" and off he goes again before we can ask any questions. Meanwhile, other diners who have arrived long after we did are receiving their food...including nachos. We only ordered nachos with beans!! Finally, a full 45 minutes after ordering we get our very basic nachos. No explanation. Thanks Justin, for showing us just how crappy an experience can be. We are never going back, and honestly feel like we should've walked out. read more

Amazing beer, both traditional and original. I appreciate that they have not given themselves over to the hops trend. My favorite is the Scotch Ale, malty and delicious. The setting is cozy, full of character, and very welcoming. In my experience, the service has been fine. The reviews complaining about how long the food takes strike me as unfair. It's a brewery first and a restaurant second. Relax and enjoy your delicious beer while you wait for your food. read more

I came on open mic night with a few people and sat at the bar. They have a lot of different beers on tap and a decent selection of food. Bartenders were on it when our glasses went empty. We tried the Cheese Board which was good, could use a little more crackers. We also tried the Apple and Cheddar panino which was awesome. The cheddar was melted and the sandwich hot. Got a little loud but started to die down around 9 on a week night. The open mic was awesome with 30 minute slots I believe. There was only 3 different guys playing acoustic and singing but they said the slots are usually full. The 3 guys took turns playing all night. It was enjoyable. They have high top tables, regular tables, and 2 couches, as well as the bar. read more

There was a large party that took priority over the rest of the bar and unfortunately business was lost over it. We just walked out of Stone Corral, and I said, "That was a better time than I'd planned on having!" We sat at the bar, had a flight (AND two pints for my better half), and each had a sandwich. The sandwiches are modest. But hey, on a random weeknight, I don't want my gut busted anyway. Free popcorn. Convivial bar conversation. Was pleasantly surprised to see local wines and sangria on the chalkboard. I am normally legally obligated to have a sangria whenever it is offered - but I got sideswiped by the yummy sounding beers: chocolate porter, raspberry black; but the real winner was the "saisanja"! Delicious well brewed ales and lagers. Can't throw a cat without hitting a NE IPA, but a nicely curated variety of beers on tap. Black lager isn't a commonly found beer, well brewed and with a bourbon barrel aged version too. A great little beer oasis in Richmond! read more

This evening my son and his girlfriend met a friend for dinner at the Stone Corral in Richmond. His girlfriend is gluten intolerant. She informed the waiter of this. Somewhere along the line someone wasn't listening or didn't care. It's 10:30 PM and she's in the bathroom puking her guts out because they didn't pay attention. Awesome place! Great beer, friendly staff and really great food. Prices are reasonable. They are cool with people just hanging out and it is a real gathering place. Not crazy loud and you can actually talk without yelling. Bands play are a great compliment. They also refill growlers and many locals routinely swing by just for a fill up. This is my new favorite to visit when I come home to VT. read more

I'd give the Stone Corral 3 Stars but in view of the pricing I think they can do much better. The burger is okay, the homemade pretzel is great. The local brew is pretty good, though not world class. For a place where you order at the counter and are brought your food after, it is really costly. It's kind of half-service. It annoys me when a restaurant is presumptuous enough to give you three choices on tip 18,20 or 22 percent. With that said I would tipped 20 percent - the service is very friendly. read more

I have been a loyal client of Stone Corral almost since the time they opened. For a while (May 2016 though about last winter), I had a great time almost every time I went. The food was good, not great, but affordable, filling and consistent. Music was decent, if loud, and enjoyable. Sometime in the Spring, something took a turn. While the service has never been 100%, especially to someone with years of experience in the restaurant industry, it was acceptable, and the servers were consistent. They all seemed passionate about beer and dedicated to the organization. It made up for the slowness and casual attitude of the place, it went along with the overall vibe. The turnaround started somewhere in that timeframe. Everyone who worked there who was any good left, except Travis. He's still good, and he's the only one who actually appears to be doing any work every time I go in. Everyone else is - standing. That's it. We went in for Taco Tuesday and sat at the bar. There were some ppl at the bar, but it wasn't a busy night by any means, and there were 3 servers working (Travis and 2 others, as well as kitchen staff). After sitting for TEN MINUTES, I finally had to ask for a beer. After another FIFTEEN, I had to holler at the bartender (who is also the owners son and should have an actual vested interest in the success of the company other than as an opportunity to flirt with girls and get high) to order food. Not once did ANY of the employees ask if I or the other 2 people in my party wanted anything. It was absolutely abysmal. I don't claim to be anything special, but when you have a loyal, local following, its in your best interest to keep them. In the restaurant industry, it can make or break you. I keep trying to go back because I really want to support you guys, I really do. But this happens almost every time I go, and it's just not worth it. why should I spend my money on absolutely awful service when I can go to Hatchet and get a meal for the same price and feel like my patronage is valued? The other thing is the menu & the music. Decide if you want to be a fine dining restaurant or a brew pub and design a menu that reflects the choice. For what it is, it's way overpriced. For what it's not, it falls short. Just decide and stick with it. the food is good and people will buy it if you are consistent. Have some specials. The new chef is good, but you need a direction. Sound panels. they exist, you need them. The music is good and it's fun, but its deafening. It is impossible to have a conversation when any artist is playing. Just invest in sound panels, it's a really limited investment that would pay off exponentially for this venue. read more

Absolutely terrible service. My friend and I went up to the bar to order beer and food. It was the afternoon on New Years Eve and they were not busy. The bartender continued to carry on a conversation for 10 minutes with the two other guests at the bar while completely ignoring us. He knew we were there. He looked over at us and then began a new conversation with them. Even the couple he was talking to seemed uncomfortable for us. Meanwhile two other staff members behind the bar completely ignored us, too. When the bar tender finally took our order he began to boast about the fact that the food orders weren't going back to the kitchen and the alcohol order wasn't in for the nights festivities. AND he got our food order wrong and it was barely edible. They're probably great for beer, if they have any made and in stock, but otherwise be prepared to be treated like dirt. read more

When we heard a brewery was opening up walking distance from our house we thought we hit the mega bucks. Only one problem....The service. I have never seen something like it before. Every single bartender /service there has the ability to avoid eye contact and moves at a snails pace. I have tried this place so many times in hopes that we just got a bad sever that time or they were just working through growing pains of opening up a new business but it never gets better. It's not uncommon to wait 15-20 mins to order and beer. A BEER!!! It takes that long even if there's only a handful of people there. It makes no sense and it's maddening. One of the times we went on a Thursdays when it was packed for burger night and I saw the owners sitting at a table in the restaurant while people either stood looking for a spot to sit or left because there was no seating. It didn't phase them in the slightest. I guess if I owned a restaurant/bar and it was so packed we were losing guests over it, I would get up to give them a spot. But that's just me. The only thing this place has got going for it is the beer is good and the food is decent. After numerous times of horrible service we have called it quits and have given up on the place we thought would be a Richmond gem. read more

I noticed in prior reviews that go back to last year that the service issue continues. Our experience there was less than stellar for sure. A member of our party was served the incorrect beer at first. After waiting about 20 minutes for our food the order was incomplete, ie one whole meal wasn't prepared and thus we waited another 10 minutes or so for that order. That order came with only one piece of turkey on the sandwich and when we checked out it was billed as a panino. When the server brought the food and we asked about the missing order she was pretty unfazed. After some chagrin on our part she said "I'll go check." We were thinking that should have been her automatic response (since we already waited 20 minutes) not an afterthought. We do enjoy the brews at Stone Corral however the lack of great service has definitely made us think twice about a return visit. read more

I want to love this place. I really do. We've been going for well over a year. The beer is very respectable, the food is getting better all the time and they can have some great live bands with no cover. It's our local craft brewery and we Really want it to succeed. That said, the service is consistently abysmal, like beyond belief abysmal. Tonight was busy for sure so we ordered a basket of chips and salsa to tide us over for what we knew would be a long wait for food. It took 50 minutes to get that basket of chips and an hour and 45 minutes to get our food which was Mac and cheese, salad and a sandwich. This place consistently fails on service and I don't blame the staff. I saw our waiter cleaning tables, talking orders, cashing out customers at the register, wiping down the bar, and sweeping the sidewalk out front after a spill. He busted his ass all night. I did manage to speak with a guy who claimed to be the owner/Manager and offered some feedback which fell on deaf ears. Too bad . With all the craft breweries in VT, this place needs to do a whole lot better. If they don't want to invest in serving food, then just call it what it is and serve popcorn read more
