My brother-in-law was married here and we had a wonderful time. Our wedding party was around 30 or so. Before leaving this review, I did read the other reviews, mainly the bad ones, to compare with my experience. PROS: Venue The view is amazing. Yes, the landscape lightly slopes, but it did not present any issues for our party. The sunroom/patio/reception area was so nice and perfect. The food was actually delicious. The wedding ceremony, reception...all amazing. It was an amazing wedding on a gorgeous day. CONS: Staff The parking area is small, so definitely carpool. I had actually parked and didn't pull up because it would block the owners truck. The owner came out and immediately told us to pull forward to make room for more cars. Ok. I was told to move it right as the bride and groom were about to cut the cake because......I was blocking the owners truck. I found that to be slightly unprofessional and inopportune timing. The staff....well....I kind of have to agree with the previous reviews. They didn't really come across in the best way. The photographer....well...it's only one person. She can't be everywhere, so hire one or two more. She has a nice camera, but I haven't seen the pictures yet. I would say it's more of a staff member with a nice camera. I would not say she's a photographer. The staff were a little....abrasive. I guess they do this all the time, and don't mess around. Which is good. But, their attitudes could be taken down a notch. OVERALL: I guess when everything else is perfect, it exposes something. The venue is worth it. It was a gorgeous day and this place had ample support for a small wedding ceremony. We had 30 and were very comfortable. But, the staff were definitely exposed. Their attitudes were less than ideal...which goes right along with the other reviews I read. If you want a spectacular beach wedding without necessarily having sand all over the place--get married here then go take pictures on the beach like we did! Married on August 5th. We chose the smaller 1.5 hour elopement package as opposed to the 3 hour to save money. Compared to the average cost of weddings these days we made out very well and their prices are reasonable, if not below what standard prices are. The owner, Judy--LITERALLY takes care of everything. All I had to do was respond to her emails about ceremony preferences, flower choices, cake choices. 16 of my closest friends and family flew out to see us. We communicated largely via email and Judy is very timely in her email responses. I could never imagine doing all that planning by myself then having to coordinate my friends/family out of towners! The property itself is beautiful. It sits on a bluff overlooking the ocean just south of Newport, which makes for fantastic pictures and adds a very romantic element to an already intimate ceremony. This is the place for small weddings and elopement ceremonies. Photography is offered with the package, which we went with since hiring a photographer would have cost just as much as the venue. The pictures were sent within 2 weeks on a disk. To address the previous comments of people saying to hire your own photographer I offer this. Hire a photographer if you don't want to spend some time personalizing, clipping and editing your own photos. I have no problem doing this. I actually enjoy it as it allows me to add my own artistic touch. Most of the quotes I received from photographers in the area were upwards of $1000 for a Saturday in August. Several of the shots Judy took brought tears to my eyes as she captured raw emotion at the moment, which is hard for even professional photographer to do. Im an amateur photographer myself and I would say she delivered in every way with photography! They offer WIFI, and we were able to FaceTime with my mother in law, who could fly out. We had a little miscommunication about the location of the beach photos but we ended up taking some beautiful pictures at the state beach/park just 4 minutes up the road. I would only suggest creating a clear plan of what, when, and where so that things don't get mixed up. For the brides, you will be in a bride daze all day so leave this to the MOH or mother of bride to do. The officiant was a little hard to hear in the 2nd rows from some family member reports--maybe a microphone if you have a larger wedding? These suggestions are small tomatoes compared to the big picture--fabulous decorations, flowers, sand pouring. My friends and family had a great time-- my husband and I had a wonderful day. If I could do it over I would choose a longer package, or even stay the night at the bed and breakfast. I could sit on their porch all day and daydream! I can tell Judy loves what she does. I was a brides maid in my best friend's wedding over the weekend. The venue is beautiful but the people running the show out of their house were, quite frankly, RUDE. I am appalled these people are in business. The whole event was rushed and the food was terrible. Barely anybody ate what was prepared. I met some people at a shop in downtown Newport who mentioned they had been to a wedding there a couple of weeks prior, they for-warned me that these people were abrupt and the food was mediocre at best. My wife and I were married at Stone Crest Cellars in August 2010. Here's my take: The positives: We were in awe of view of the Pacific Ocean just outside the B&B's back yard. The first night we stayed in the house, and the next night we moved to the cottage (aka "The Love Shack"), which is a few hundred feet away from the B&B in a small enclave of homes on a cliff above the beach. We really liked the cottage and its 40s and 50s decor and record player. Breakfast was decent, and Judy and her assistant, Morgan, were friendly accommodating, as well. It was a nice touch when Judy lit a fire for us in the home's large fireplace and offered us port and chocolates after we returned from a seafood dinner in Newport. The negatives: When we arrived in the afternoon the first day, we were weary from traveling. We checked in and went to our room to nap, but we were unable to sleep because there was a wedding at the house. There were quite a few people roaming the house, and we felt trapped in our room. Also, the B&B offers wine, cheese and grapes each night around 4pm. We partook the first night, but felt like we couldn't the second night because there was another wedding at the house with a throng of people milling about. We felt unwelcome when we had to go the house to get soap because the cottage was out. People stared at us like, "Who are you?" Our biggest disappointment was the photography that was part of our wedding package. When we booked the package, my wife specifically asked if we needed to hire a wedding photographer and was told no. Judy said photography was done by Photography By Danaya (which turned out to be Judy's daughter). Unfortunately, Danaya wasn't available during our wedding, so Judy had to be officiant and photographer. Very few of the photos Judy took turned out. There were lots of shadows and awkward poses--they were amateur. The photography session lasted about 30 minutes right after our short wedding ceremony. We felt rushed, as there was a wedding rehearsal for a larger wedding right after ours. Hire your own photographer if you want good photos! All in all, we liked the location, but there were times we felt like a king and queen and times when we felt like village serfs. read more

I found myself at Stone Crest Cellar Bed and Breakfast this past weekend for my friend's wedding, at which I was her matron of honor. So, while I didn't spend the night here, she did, and as a bridesmaid in the wedding party I did get to see some of the behind the scenes service and work that goes into the place. I am passing along my five star review for my friend, who could not have been happier with her wedding experience. This is a lovely B&B located along the Oregon coast, just South of Newport in South Beach Oregon. The proprietress is a calm lady who helped make sure the brides' frazzled nerves were put at ease. She directed the wedding party (because we had no rehearsal, we were nervous too) so we all knew exactly what to do, and when. She checked in just before to make sure the bride had everything she needed, which was a nice touch. In fact, the bridal suite had everything the bride needed, including a ceiling hook for the wedding gown, and a steamer so she could steam wrinkles out. The setting for your ceremony is a verdant green lawn with a "stage" sitting in front of a perfect backdrop--the Pacific ocean--with undulating waves crashing in to announce your exchange of vows. Stone Crest isn't right ON the beach, but set back a bit, so the sound won't totally drown out your ceremony and you won't get all sandy (Ever tried to walk in heels and a long dress in the sand? This is not a pretty sight). Stone Crest's setting and garden is just lovely. Nearby accommodations (besides the B&B itself, which has rooms of course, but is probably too small for the whole wedding party and guests) include hotels just a few miles up the road in Newport, about three miles North. They have a (covered) eating reception area, and the service was warm and friendly, which to me was somewhat surprising as I would expect people who do wedding after wedding for a living might get bored and tired of it, but the smiles seemed genuine and they seemed to really enjoy making the special day special for everyone. My husband and I had our wedding at Stone Crest Cellars last month and chose the smaller vintage package. Judy the owner takes care of organizing everything. They do the ceremony, photography, cake. I was nervous allowing someone else plan the wedding for me. The day of the wedding I had a hair fiasco and ended up arriving late to my own wedding! I was very frazzled when I arrived and the staff handled it very calmly and professionally. They moved my car for me while I raced upstairs to change. The assistant and photographer were there to help me get dressed and whatever I needed while I was rushing around. The ceremony was gorgeous! It was a beautiful, warm day and the ocean looked and sounded so beautiful behind us. We had never met the officiant that was hired (normally Judy does it but I guess she was gone that day). Danaya, Judy's daughter and photographer, orchestrated the reception and pictures. I am glad for that because my mind was still reeling from arriving late. The cake and flowers were beautiful. I had sent Judy pictures from Pinterest and my bouquet looked just like the pictures I sent. The cake was very delicious as well. Since we got started late, the whole thing was pretty rushed. But we knew we only has 1.5 hours at the site from ceremony to end ahead of time. Our wedding was at 3pm and I guess they had another wedding starting at 6pm. We received our CD of pictures within about 2-3 weeks of the wedding. I am very pleased with them. I would recommend Stone Crest Cellars for an easy, destination wedding. read more

The best wedding venue ever! We just held our daughter's wedding here, October 7. My daughter had done all the pre-planning since she lives in Newport and we are in California. Judy was great working with her, gave her various options. Everything was fabulous. Judy was very accommodating with any variations we wanted. She did a perfect job officiating, exactly what the bride and groom wanted. It was pouring rain when we got to the B&B and had to dash inside the big house with umbrellas. Just at the right time, Judy called out, "We have a clearing" and she rushed down to wipe the rainwater off the chairs so we could quickly get the guests seated and the ceremony started. The clouds and sunset over the ocean was a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. It was a small, intimate wedding and many had just arrived in Newport so there wasn't a rehearsal like Judy had suggested. We did make a few mistakes but she expertly guided us through them, even added a little humor when Dad forgot to stay standing until he'd given the bride away. You could tell Judy has done many weddings and could handle anything. After the ceremony we headed to the covered area. Good thing as it started to pour rain again. The garden room was so perfect and appetizers exquisite, the cake delicious. Everything was just like the couple could have hoped for and the guests were raving that this was one of the best weddings they'd ever been to. What a wonderful evening.T read more

I was a maid of honor at my best friend's wedding here. While the view was gorgeous the owner was extremely rude! I was so upset with the way she treated us but even more upset with the short, pushy way she treated the bride and guests! The View is breath taking, perfect for pictures! The home is nice, the suite provided for changing was perfect. The woman who officiated the ceremony was kind and pleasant, I cannot complain a bit about her! On the other hand the owner was awful! She was rude, pushy and short tempered. There was no rehearsal provided for the wedding so she just hurriedly barked some instructions at us as we were to go out the door down the aisle. When we asked for clarification she was bothered and had attitude when she re-explained. The entire time we were in at Bed and breakfast we were treated like we were disturbing here peace. She was disorganized and gave little direction as the "wedding coordinator" and started telling our photographer whom we paid and brought what and when she was going to do her shots! She went as far as to tell the photographer "No we aren't doing that now. you're going to wait!" When the bride was speaking to someone else and hadn't seen the owner trying to hand her the signed marriage certificate she shoved it into her body with her hand as they stood in front of the guests! The hors d'oeuvres she charged $28 per person for consisted of 1 small pan of saucy meatballs that were barely warm and tasted like they had just been heated in the microwave and sauced and then some dry chicken bites (not even enough for all 4o some guests to get some) Then she had a "server" putting out cheese slices from some syran wrapped Tupperware container, and grapes still in the plastic carton from the grocery store just thrown on the table. I was beside myself, I can't even make this stuff up. The owner was wearing a sweater and leggings and the "server" young lady was wearing jeans and a windbreaker! No attempt to look professional at all! The food was terrible. I am thankful that my best friend was too busy to even notice much of this but I was angry. She certainly paid A LOT of money (way too much for what she received!) read more

My Husband and I got the Estate Reserve Wedding Package we had about 50 guests. Everything was beautifully done. The food, the centerpieces, and breakfast the next morning were perfect. I would advise brides using the Stone Crest to wear comfortable shoes because you will be going up and down stairs frequently. And to also make the most of the time that you have reserved by using an itinerary. I would love to give this place 5 stars, but you should hire your own photographer or have a relative do it. During our reception the photographer (Danaya) pulled my husband and I aside then said that she had changed the contract because we had signed it almost six months in advance. The new contract no longer included copyright with a CD and we owe her an extra 150 dollars. We talked with the coordinator (Judy the owner, who is also her mom) after the guests went home and she said that we will receive the CD with copyright. About three weeks later Danaya sent me an email giving us a passive aggressive ultimatum without Stone Crest's permission. The extra money isn't really the issue, because it isn't that much. But, having someone trustworthy to do your photography is important. At the moment my husband is handling the problem, but I don't know if I am actually going to get my photos. I will update this as soon as I know something. - Update 7-10-2012, 9 something am. I received an email this morning stating that I will get the CD after my husband went to Judy with the problem. read more

Stone Crest Cellars provided an all-inclusive deal for our Wedding that included the cake, flowers, ceremony and reception area. While I loved the ease of having them help me plan everything in one place and the venue (beautiful scenery) and cake was fabulous, I was not wowed by the food. In addition the wedding planner/owner (Judy) of the venue didn't listen to me when said that I wanted to have our first dance in the great room with the perfect floors and a fireplace as the backdrop, instead we had to have our first dance outside on a small stone patio area that I almost tripped and fell on during our dance, and there was not enough room for our dance which we had taken special lessons for and practiced for months. The Photos were done by Danaya which is the daughter of the owner and I can say we were disappointed and I wish we would have just hired a professional photographer. They also rushed us through the reception super fast as they had triple booked the place for that day and hadn't told us that. During the planning phase I worked with Judy and her assistant on details and I did a lot of DIY additions, but I felt as though they resented that fact, or that it was something that got in the way of how they are used to doing things. Anyway, I don't feel like I should have had to deal with an attitude from the wedding planner when they are supposed to be helping you plan your perfect day. Although it had beautiful scenery, If I had to do it over again, I would not get married here. The service from the owners was sub-par. read more

Stone Crest Cellars Bed and Breakfast was such an amazing venue to use for a quick elopement, with only two guests (but planned for none). Judy was so helpful, my husband and I just had to get an Oregon State Marriage license and Judy did everything else for us! With only a weeks notice! We got the room with ocean views and a private balcony. While changing to go out we actually saw whales from the balcony and later learned that the whale pod actually eats there often. That on top of a beautiful landscape...How cool! Breakfast was amazing and Craig and Judy were so kind and hospitable! We had the Private Reserve Wedding Package. We had about thirty attendees. The venue and details of the wedding (bouquet, boutonniere, table decorations, etc) were all perfect. Judy took care of all the arrangements and was easy to work with. The Sunset Suite was really nice for getting dressed and waiting for the ceremony. The ceremony and reception went very smoothly. The photos turned out well. We stayed in the Sunset Suite overnight and loved the room, bath, and view. Breakfast was delicious. We wouldn't change anything about our special day. We were invited to a wedding ceremony at Stone Crest. The view of the Ocean is wonderful, the place is very clean & updated. The ceremony was downstairs in the atrium. They used propane heaters which didn't warm it because of the high ceiling so it was about 40 degrees down at chair level. Brrr! The rain drops collected & dripped down some plastic sheeting straight above the bride & groom. The first row of seating was so close to the wedding party that the best man & maid of honor were literally standing in front of the first row (Parents & Grandparents of each side) & BLOCKED their view of the ceremony!! The reception was great however, we did wonder what the other B & B guest thought of all of roaming around outside there room doors. (weird, awkward) Does this Bed & Breakfest not do rehearsals??? Turn the other way, at first glance it's a cute little place. I went for a wedding, the wedding area was horrible it was poorly built and poorly landscaped. You literally were sitting in your chair sideways, I had to brace myself so I wouldn't fall over. Inside the house and the reception area was a little better however, she had cats all over the place running all though the house, kitchen bedrooms ect, and the furniture was covered in cat hair. If you're allergic don't even bother. Also the ground keeper (dragon lady) was incredibly rude and pushy and furthermore she didn't seem like she'd ever hosted a wedding before, very unorganized. And the food was awful, poorly cooked and tasteless. Many members and myself actually have food poisoning from the food served. In closing I would not recommend staying here unless you enjoy cat hair covered, undercooked food. read more

However, myself along with the entire wedding party could have used a bit more direction as to what to expect/do during the ceremony. There were a few moments of "what do we do from here?" Type of thoughts from everyone. However, for nobody knowing what to do, we pulled it off perfectly I thought. Beautiful decorations, and my cake and bouquet were STUNNING!!! We had our wedding at Stone Crest Cellars in August 2016. We are so incredibly happy with the venue and their coordination of all the wedding details; it was a wonderful day and we wouldn't have changed a thing. We planned our West Coast wedding from the East Coast and selected this venue sight unseen. When I first read their marketing material describing the package options (after going through information from countless other venues), I know that there was something unique about this venue and felt that it would be a good fit for us. We wanted to avoid a cookie-cutter wedding in an impersonal hotel ballroom and wanted to have a unique and intimate event in a very special venue, so this was a perfect match and we went for it. We had the Signature Wedding Package with 45 guests. Judy was incredibly responsive, helpful and reliable during the entire planning process. Again, because of our location and that we were not able to make it to Oregon in person during the planning process, it was extremely valuable to us to have someone like Judy in charge of coordinating all details. The choices presented for the various wedding details were always very clear and our decisions were followed to a tee. A few detailed comments: -- Location: The venue itself is stunning, the house is beautiful and the ceremony location overlooks the ocean offering a fantastic view to all guests. The trees around protect the location from the wind, which helps with the slightly cooler Oregon Coast weather in the summer. The trees and cliff edge around the garden also provide a very beautiful backdrop for photographs, which our photographer took full advantage of and yielded amazing pictures. -- Food: The buffet at our wedding was absolutely amazing. We selected the filet mignon with peppercorn sauce, halibut with tropical fruit salsa, herb roasted potatoes, organic spring mix with strawberries, and various delicious appetizers. So many of our guests continue to compliment us on the food to this day. I found the quality of the food to be better than some of the plated dinners that I have had at other weddings. The presentation was beautiful and the food was cooked to perfection -- Judy's husband is a fantastic chef! Judy was also kind enough to arrange kids meals for the little ones and it worked out perfectly. -- Drinks: Their wine and beer selection is excellent, with both local and international offerings. We were really pleased with all of the Oregon wines that we selected and the beers were also excellent. A variety of non-alcoholic options were available and guests who did not want to toast with champagne were offered sparkling cider. -- Day-Of Coordination: Judy is exceptionally talented and professional and I was so impressed by her coordination of the entire event. I never had to worry about announcements or what would be happening next; Judy made sure bride and groom were in the right place at the right time. Judy is so detail oriented that she immediately stepped in to take over when she saw that I was starting to help a few of our older guests with getting their meals from the buffet. -- Quality: The flowers, decor, linens, sound system (both ceremony and reception), and of course the food and drink (as mentioned above), were all very high quality and everything looked beautiful and exactly the way that we were hoping and had picturing during the planning process. -- Choice: They have packages available for many different sizes and price points. We were so happy with the package we selected and found that it offered excellent value for money. -- Ease/Efficiency: For those of us that are planning a wedding from afar, it would have been impossible to put together such a beautiful wedding had we had to coordinate with the various vendors (music, flowers, tables/chairs, dinnerware, catering, etc.) by ourselves. It is clear that Judy has a close network of top quality vendors and it works together flawlessly. We did provide our own officiant and photographer because we already had a preference, but otherwise Judy took care of everything else. -- General Awesomeness: Judy and her team were so accommodating for anything that we needed that day (and also answered our hundreds of questions during the planning). At some point I left the upstairs room where we were getting ready and went downstairs (already done with hair and makeup) and suddenly realized that the groom had entered the living room. I was quickly ushered to a side door and told I could go around the outside stairs to go back to the upstairs room -- it worked perfectly and the groom did not see me ;) Phew! We are so thankful to Judy and her team for giving us the wedding of our dreams. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, special and top-notch day. If you are thinking about getting married on the Oregon Coast, please look into Stone Crest Cellars as it is a real gem. We highly recommend it!!! read more

I didn't stay at the Bed & Breakfast but I was a guest at a wedding, held at this location. BEAUTIFUL location. I seriously can't stress that enough. Absolutely breathtaking. The house was tastefully decorated and well laid out. Staff who setup the facility for the wedding were all extremely helpful and accommodating, even allowing the bride to show up 30 minutes prior to her originally scheduled time, to allow ample time for her to get dressed and have her makeup done prior to her wedding. After the ceremony, we had beer/wine and appetizers in their garden room that was amazingly decorated, well organized and the staff was quick to please with ensuring tables were bussed and drinks were filled. Centerpieces were designed by the wedding planner, at the facility, and were impeccable. The Bride and Groom were absolutely overjoyed and commented, several times, at how much they enjoyed the day. My husband and I eloped to the Oregon coast in July. We booked the "Just the Two of Us" package at Stone Crest Cellar Bed & Breakfast and couldn't be happier with how our day turned out! Judy was especially helpful and easy to work with leading up to the big day and on the big day. The flowers and cake were beautiful and were included in the package! Since I was planning the wedding from another state she provided many helpful suggestions for my hair and make-up as well as for dinner that night. We didn't tell anyone we were getting married and feel as though we had the most special day ever! We spent the week in the cottage and thought it was the best place to relax during our stay. We also visited the bistro in town and enjoyed the wine, the cheese tray and the friendly conversation. Danaya took some wedding photo's for us, but we also hired another photographer. The two worked well together. We haven't yet received our pictures from her but I am excited to see them. I would recommend a wedding and/or stay at Stone Crest Cellars to anyone! read more

I had my wedding there about 3 weeks ago. Leading up to the wedding I was back and forth about how it would go. Judy (the owner) was delayed with responding to my emails. I told her I wanted a few certain things and she acted like I had asked her to change the weather. I should have changed venues then. Day of the wedding I arrived about 30 minutes before the ceremony time. I asked where the photographer was because in the package is states you get a professional photographer. Nope, it was Judy, the owner and the "professional" wedding coordinator. The actual ceremony was very nice, other than the wrong music played during the walk down the aisle. The minister was great. Afterwards it was time for pictures. Judy starts taking pictures and what not and isn't really listening to what my husband and I wanted. Whatever, we were married. We were there just over an hour and as we were about to leave (no one had left yet) Judy peels out of the drive way because she has to get to yoga. YOGA?! That was irritating. Now as I am slowly getting pictures, I have emailed her asking for them unedited because they are terrible and I am now having to pay someone else to edit them. I am also still hoping to get more pictures of me walking down the aisle and with a few family members. Overall, I would not recommend this place. I guess if you don't really care about your wedding or your pictures then I guess this is the place but I don't really know how they keep booking weddings.
