This place is ideal for getting inexpensive, huge portions of mediocre food. So why do I eat here??? Well there are 3 things that make it worth visiting and adding more junk to the trunk: Bread sticks= awesome. They make me salivate just thinking about 'em. Mashed potatoes = baked with chunks of cheese and whole garlic cloves. Carrot Cake= best I've EVER had. Velvety, luscious cream cheese frosting, moist cake, and no raisins. The sandwiches here are terrible. I didn't think that was even possible. The salads are decent. My favorite is the Caesar, which is amped up on garlic (although possibly too much garlic). Tri-tip, ribs and chicken are so-so. I suggest forgoing them and getting filled up on bread, salad, and save room for carrot cake. Perfect for groups, soccer moms (with kids in tow), and people who enjoy average food. read more

I usually only come here to hang out with a group of former co-workers for the collective missed-birthday-dinner-and-a-movie get togethers (say that 10x fast!) since Pacific theater is in the same lot. Of all the restaurants located there, we opt for Stonefire because of the convenience of "family-style" food. It's amusing how everything works; you order/pay at the register, seat yourselves and they bring food to you via the number they hand you. Like a Carl's Jr. system. The decor sort of tricks you into thinking it's sit-down style (so, I guess that's a good thing?) We find a booth and go grab flatware/plates/drinks ourselves. They literally pride themselves in providing no service; yet on the flip-side, they don't require a tip. Good for large groups in that sense. We usually order the Whole Chicken family style dinner since one of us doesn't eat anything that moos (to my chagrin). It comes with salad and breadsticks that come out quickly, and both are good. The caesar has a lot of bite to it and is heavy on the dressing, but I think most like it that way. Breadsticks are yummy, garlicky, but not overwhelmingly. The chicken comes already cut up. We get it half BBQ, half lemon garlic; I prefer the BBQ. The meat's usually tender and moist, almost like they pressure cook the chicken. But I'm sure there's a rotisserie back there somewhere. My friend who frequents the place says the tri-tip is pretty good too, so if I'm in the area without my friend who only eats food with beaks and scales (which isn't often), I'm open to try it. We get all this food for about $30--not too shabby considering it's enough for the four of us, fits the bill and it's quick. All in all, the food is... good... not bad, but not great, so three stars based on what I've tried. read more

Eaten here many times and I'm just getting around to reviewing this place (I know, bad yelper) Service is good. Sometimes they do have a major delay in delivering your main dish. Like for example, if you order their Lemon Garlic Chicken, it comes with a bread and salad or mash.. Again, sometimes you have already finished both your bread and salad and the food is yet to arrive. Food is pretty good! The Pesto Chicken Sandwich is good too! (get it without the onions you will love it even more!) Salads are just tasty! Greek & Ceasar is awesome! Now let's talk about that Carrot Cake, I for one usually go for the chocolate stuff but, this Carrot Cake was just right that it is now one of my favorite desserts to order. Stonefire Grill is fantastic. The last time I was here I brought my brother who was visiting from San Francisco and he loved it. He couldn't believe how good the food was and how inexpensive feeding 5 people could be (our bill was under $50). We had the Caeser salad, the tri tip, a pizza and breadsticks. Stonefire is our go-to BBQ spot especially when we're looking to get takeout. Location Located in a busy center next to Applebee's, Winnetka Theaters, Poquito Mass, and The Habit. Parking can be tough if you're not willing to walk. They have two entrances, one for dine-in and the other for take-out. They have menus posted out front and at each cashier station. The dine-in area is fairly nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. However, it is all self-serve. The waiters are simply there to bring you your order. You have to get your own plates, utensils, BBQ, and drinks. Service Even though Stonefire is ALWAYS packed I ALWAYS manage to get awesome service. The staff is always patient even though they're swamped. Recently, I stopped by to order take-out and was assisted by Todd. Todd was outstanding; he helped us pick the best family deal, gave me any information I needed, and constantly made sure we had everything we needed. When our order came up he showed us that everything we ordered was there and made sure we didn't need anything else. Food BBQ Sauce: I love their BBQ sauce because it is thin, sweet, and tangy. Caesar Salad: Good but not great. I like the dressing but think the salad can be more crisp. Cobb Salad: Good but not great. I think the salad can be more crisp. Pesto Pasta: Recommend. The pest is creamy and flavorful; make sure to add parm Garlic Butter Tri Tip: my favorite, tons of flavor and never tough BBQ Chicken: surprisingly moist. I visited my best friend on Tuesday and we decided to eat near the movie theater. The options there are Applebee's which she assured me was actually "quite good," Subway, San San Japanese Grill, Hamburger Habit (my actual choice) or this Stonefire Grill. We walked in and were a bit confused. You order at the counter and they bring you the food. So, I immediately zoomed in on the ribs. Do I want half a rack, some ribs and tri-tip or ribs and chicken? Okay, ribs and tri-tip for $14.99 it is! This came with two breadsticks and a salad. My best friend got a sandwich and was informed this restaurant does not serve fries. The closest they come to taters are mashed. Uh, no they don't go well with a sandwich! My food was all pretty decent except my tri-tip was more medium well and I asked for medium. It didn't have much sauce on it but that's all right as there's a big vat you can get oodles of sauce from. I didn't eat much of my tri-tip though because I filled up on the 6 ribs. They weren't too meaty but it was enough. Decent sauce. As for the salad. Bleh! Yuck, there were tortilla chips in it. Otherwise, it had everything I'd like except the dressing was so greasy. My best friend, desperate for a side, decided to try my salad. She pronounced the dressing to be "greasy tortilla chip flavored dressing." Um, yeah, not good. It was supposed to be cilantro! I only had a bite of the breadsticks (I was trying to low-carb it) and it was pretty good. Went well with the tri-tip. Overall, not a bad choice before the movie but I still would have rather have gone to Hamburger Habit. Plus, they have fries there! There was a couple having problems with one of the sandwiches they ordered. They expected BBQ sauce in it. The manager came by and replaced it for them but told them it's not like that on the menu and if they wanted a sandwich prepared that way, they need to specify next time. I seriously miss this place soooooo bad! I used to live at the corner & it was a restaurant my family, friends, & I would eat at often! The food here is DELISH. Back in the day, I just remember all my Elco schoolmates working here lol. So I always got hooked up!!! Oh yeeeee. Service is really good at this location. During the lunch rush the line moved fairly quickly. Lots of salad options. My personal favorite is the bbq copped salad with tri tip or the Caesar salad ( warning!!! Super garlicky!!!) The pizzas are all really good. Thin crust fresh toppings. Nommmmm!!! Sandwiches, you wouldn't think it but are all amazing. I've had chicken breast here that hasn't been cooked all the way through and tritip that tastes like it was frozen (GROSS), but I think these are one off situations that they don't mind fixing for you. Breadsticks are to die for... They give Olive Garden a run for their money. Mashed potatoes are always a solid. The cauliflower salad which has tahini sauce on it is also a healthy option. This is minimum a ten dollar lunch, but more like 15 on a regular meal if you aren't trying to save money. Decided to go have dinner with my family. First of all, the cashier was rude, didn't greet us and was giving attitude when I was ordering. After about 10 minutes we get our food but not all of it. We had to remind the lady three times that we still had more food my niece who is 2 years old didn't get her chicken tenders until about 25 min after we got our food and I even had to go and remind them a fourth time and they're response was always "they'll be out shorty" not just that when they brought them out the tenders were burned. read more

I've made this location my go to place for lunch at least once a week- I am in love with the Cauliflower Pita Sandwich & their Keen Green Salad!!! The quinoa is Sooo delicious! BUT, today, we decided to eat on this location, it was just so disappointing. First, pls check your sound system. The music is great, but the speakers? Oh my gawd. It sounds like its coming from the inside of a can, muffled, annoying. Second, the ladies bathroom! There was an underwear on the floor and a dirty toilet. Dinner or meal time should be a happy, nice moment to be with your family. But I ended up stressed out and unhappy and if I must say it ruined my night. The staff there is always polite and I can be in and out in a timely manner. Horrible drive up service they're clueless to what car comes first then have people walking up taking the service of the two people they have serving orders. Horrible management sat in my car for 15 minutes before anyone actually came back to my car waited 25 minutes for food that was ready 25 minutes prior. Awesome place to eat, I had lunch with my wife & pops and it was right. They lived up to their name and had a cool ass stone fire pit out back. I have to say they have one of the best BBQ tri-tip salads I ever had in my life, and because I'm on this crazy diet they had no problem customizing my complicated order. The lines were long however the service was rather quick, orderly and regardless of being busy was seamless. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. I have to say a big part of me really loved this place. It's a family style restaurant so the portions are huge. The petite salad, for instance, feeds at least 2 if not 3 people. The rest of my party was very satisfied with their meals as well. How it works: You walk up to the cashier and order. He or she gives you a number. You pick any seat and place your number in the holder. The server comes by with you food. Eat and enjoy. The plates, silverware, and napkins are at a central station. You would never think that a salad can be a 'comfort food'. Turns out when you get it from here it can be. A tri tip salad with grilled sweet corn, carrots, black beans and more deliciousness. I've never been so happy with a salad from a restaurant before. I am very happy and very full. My family has come here many of times and I know we will continue to come here for the great food.
