LOVE THE NAME... We came in today for a slice of pizza, but based on the mixed reviews, we would be eating blind. Plenty of parking directly in front of the business which is located in the center of Varsity Square conveniently surrounded by student living quarters and universities which provides an organic draw of young hungry pizza enthusiasts. Today it was a scorching day and upon entering the shop it was equally as hot, although took fair consideration of the active pizza ovens. At first glance, the decor was an interesting play on the clandestine world of cannabis with keeping a traditionally mild Italian theme. The wall paper contained funny pseudonyms projecting an intentionally playful marijuana ambiance. For example: Legalize Marinara, Get Baked, Cutting Edge, We Roll and Melting Pot. We were greeted by the friendly staff and ordered their daily special, which included two slices of pizza and a soft drink for $5.25, which is a very competitive price for the immediate area. The employee cut two pizza slices from a pre-cooked pepperoni and cheese pizza which was in the display rack. They were then slid into the commercial conveyor oven for a minute for proper warming. Took a seat with my slices and the complimentary garlic butter dipping sauce. The slices were average size and had some decent charring on the pepperoni. The first bite was very bland with a chewy doughy texture somewhat similar to Dominos or Papa Johns. The slices were thankfully not overly oily. The pepperonis were basic without a spicy kick. The soft cornicione or crust did not provide any additional relief to save the tasteless slice. The bathroom was clean and continued the pizza-cannabis theme (See Pic). Aside from the absolutely genius marketing of the entertaining atmosphere, as a pizza connoisseur I was expecting a slightly higher level of product from an established business. Only a few pizza restaurants in the area and this one has a catchy name with very average pizza, a little doughy for my taste, and prefer the thin coal fired type. They know what they are and are that perfectly. I've seen some comments about the pizza being similar to dominos/papajohns with a 2.5 star rating along with them..yes, it's similar to a papa johns style pizza, but it's that while using actual real ingredients. The sauce is deep & tomato-y, the bread is real bread! It's fluffy, has a good crunch, and you're delighted to eat it when you get there. The sizing, topping variety (ricotta as a free 1 topping) the freshness, the prices, all top quality. The wings are big and they taste like back yard bbq wings. I haven't tried enough to keep going, but I'm sure the rest of their menu holds the same standard. When so many "restaurants" are all using the same sysco frozen foods at us just with different sauces, I can appreciate real good ingredients. If I wanted artisanal "authentic" pizza I mean we're in South Florida we know where to go for that. This is my go to spot otherwise. Would like to also say that the service is top notch. Made an online order, Apple Pay online nice and easy, get in - welcomed, greeted, quick chat, get my food, bye, thank you, have a nice day. Something you rarely get these days it seems. Finally found our local pizza shop! My partner and I moved to Davie 2 years ago and I'm surprised it took us this long to try Stoners. We've tried a couple other pizza shops close to us and we thought they were good but honestly after trying Stoners, they've become my favorite. We ordered on Saturday evening because we wanted to watch the Panthers game at home and eat pizza. We just ordered a large cheese pizza for pick up. When we arrived to the store, the woman behind the cashier welcomed us and was very nice. I think she may have been the manager. She gave us some coupons to use since I told her it was our first time trying them. There were also some people sitting inside wearing panthers game and waiting for the game to start. The shop is small but does have tables to sit and TVs to watch games. Also great service and ample parking right in front. My friend and I ordered from the aptly named Stoners on 4/20, sticking with the holiday theme :) We ordered small Veggie Pizza (added pepperoni) and wings. The pizza was fire!! They didn't overdo it on the toppings. The sauce on the pizza tasted homemade or they doctored it up deliciously. I always order my pizzas well done because a little crunch is always good and imo the toppings don't slide off the slices as much. Even with delivery, the pizza was perfect. The jumbo buffalo wings were flavorful and worthy of their "jumbo" moniker, but a little too saucy for my liking. I was hesitant at first to visit this place after reading some of the reviews but decided to give them a try for myself. I'm glad I did. I ordered for pick up before they opened and when I got there, after the pick up time, the pizza wasn't ready yet, BUT....the gentleman working behind the counter was very pleasant and professional. He said it would be ready in 10min and I waited no longer than that. I also requested online to have the pizza extra well done and the pizza guy brought the pizza out of the oven to ask if it was well done enough...nice touch. I walk up to the counter and the gentleman behind the counter was eating dinner; he acknowledges me and then when he realizes I'm still deciding, he goes back to eating dinner. Not even a please or thank you. Anyways, onto the food, I order pizza, garlic rolls and their cookies. Every item was undercooked, chewy and overall lacked flavor. My garlic rolls were RAW. so raw that I had to wait to make sure I didn't get sick from eating raw dough. The pizza was gross. So chewy, no flavor and just all around dull. The cookies were so burnt but the inside was gooey, so weird. It's like they baked the cookies in the morning and then threw them in the oven to reheat. The restaurant itself was dirty as hell.
