We made reservations here for my honey's bday while visiting. The ambiance was nice and welcoming. Got seated on time and immediately met to get drink orders. I'm pregnant so they suggested a nice mock tail and honey got a raspberry lemon drop. He only needed one so that says a lot. It was hitting as he barely finished it. Like we like them. The biscuits and cinnamon butter didn't stand a chance which is why we didn't get a picture. I don't like bread much, but I couldn't stop eating them. I had the ribeye and max n cheese initially, but I sent the Mac back for mashed. Wasn't a fan of the Mac. Babe had the pecan crusted trout with broccoli and mashed and he love it. Had to add a pinch of salt to the dish and sides, but that's just preference. Ended the night with a bday chocolate cake slice and a happy bday candle!!!! In all I'd come back. For the two of us our bill was surprisingly cheap. Dinner for both of us with drinks and bottled water was under $125 (not including tip). Less than what I budgeted, so please go check them out! We are new to the Memphis area. Coming from a place that has endless options is a big adjustment for us. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted somewhere new to us that had awesome food! I found Stoney River on my search and thought he would love this! It's got steak and that's one dish we hardly eat on a daily. When we first got there he was impressed on what I chose. It was us two and our two boys, 15 and 8. One thing that was a bummer was there is nothing really for kids. Luckily I'm not a big eater so my little one shared with me. We first had the steak rolls for apps and it was delish! Like a Philly cheesesteak in a roll. I had the prime rib which was perfectly cooked, and my husband had the Rib eye which his was perfect also! My older son had the stacked burger which he demolished. Stoney River is always consistent. I was able to get a reservation for my party of 3 on Resy. The restaurant lighting is super dim and sexy at 5pm, our server Gianna was great and accommodating. The food was good, whiskey roasts are my favorite I really could've eaten that for my entree, fried shrimp which is not on the menu, but still available. My fries weren't piping hot, but edible, the new rolls are good. read more

Ordered egg rolls & the pork chop, The egg rolls tasted like they had been cooked in old grease & pork chop was dry, dried, & tasted like the desert. This was around 8ish so I sent the PC back, order chicken pasta to go to replace it, get home the pasta was terrible, it went to the trash. So I called the next day, the young lady had me on hold for 15/20 min I had to hand up, call back & inform her to take a message & have the manager reach back out (Tony). I had high hopes for this restaurant, but it fell flat. Some friends and I ventured out to the restaurant last week. We had a reservation. However, when we arrived, we had to wait an additional 45 mins to be seated. When we were seated, it took a while for the waiter to come over. When she did come, she stated the cocktails were going to take a long time because the bar had a lot of orders to clear.. We ordered appetizers for the table. Those came out fine, but the calamari had shrimp mixed with it. We were told it is fried in the same oil and prep station. The main course of food came out, and it was horrible. The steaks were cold and overcooked. The trout tasted like fish sticks out the box, and the potato au gratin was one of the weirdest things I have ever eaten. Food is not very good for the money. Had wanted a prime rib sandwich and was told they no longer have it on menu, the guy next to me ordered if from a different waiter and he said it's not on menu but will be glad to get it for you. We ended up getting the replacement item which was absolutely awful. Meat was burnt and put on 2 pieces of toasted bread (not good at all). I mentioned the fact that we were told it wasn't on menu period !. They were going to fix us one until I guess the managment came over and questioned me why I didn't tell them the food was not good! Went yesterday to celebrate my birthday. Only giving two stars because YaYa was an amazing waitress. However, our food was horrible. We've been several times, but have never received food so bad. My husband is currently sick from his steak. I didn't eat my burger. I sent it back, and it was still in edible. My son's cheese wasn't melted. My brother in law had shrimp and grits. He said his grits tasted like they were 3 days old. I think we'll give Stoney River a break for a while. read more

My wife and I and another couple went to stony River a few days ago. It was my first time there and I really enjoyed the meal. One of the things that impressed me the most... And I know this seems rather trivial... Is the fact that the huge baked potato was done perfect perfectly. Very few restaurants seem to know how to cook a baked potato. Stony River can do it. This is our second time going to Stoney River to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was great, steak egg rolls are always a hit, the house salad was fresh and huge, put steaks were cooked to perfection. The restaurant is always very clean and cozy. But now to the star of the show, our server, BRANDON!!! He was our server a year ago as well, he was extremely personable, super attentive (on a Saturday), never let our drinks get near half full before he was right there to top off our water or bring us a fresh drink. He asked us numerous times in a very polite way if we were good or needed anything. Brandon made us feel very special and his customer service skills need to be used as an example of what great dining service looks like. Ants were literally on the menu today!!! It started off with one crawling on the table, it ended with more on the wall. Ants carry germs, which can contaminate food, prep surfaces, and cooking equipment, posing a health risk to customers. This is a violation of hygiene standards. Totally unacceptable! Here's my first visit to Stoney River. I loved the ambiance and decor. The service was annoyingly exceptional, in the best way. The food was five out of 10; spinach dip was bland and steak rolls included tough and gristly cuts of beef. Two of the entrees were served with cold parmesan fries that were unacceptable and sent back to the kitchen. Overall, great company and atmosphere can make even a less than stellar dining experience pleasant. The staff was attentive to any concerns brought to their attention. Question: we dined with a toddler doing some toddler things, but not unruly. She was given a small plastic toy by the staff which was certainly appreciated. Is it common for them to ask for the toy back at the door as patrons exit the restaurant? I just seemed weird, mean, and unsanitary. IMO! And yes, she cried over the loss of the toy as we left the restaurant. As this was a lunchtime experience with my two granddaughters, I would visit again during dinner to hopefully get a different experience...... without the toddler and grands, of course. They have a gnat problem. They were diving at our food the entire meal. It was excessive like we were eating outside. Who wants to spend that much on food and have to swat away gnats the whole time? Will not return. Also, bathroom floors were dirty with sticky black shoe prints. Food and service were pretty good but it's too dark in there. WOW is the best way to start this review. My wife and I went to the shops around today since it was so nice and we wanted to grab a quick lunch. We walked into Stoney River and had a seat at the bar. It was very clean and the staff were all well accommodating and helpful. We were quickly greeted and asked our drink orders. They quickly came out and were very well made. That's right no splash of liquor and more soda and ice to liquor ratio. My wife had the Tuna Stack with chips and I had the Cumberland Salad. The Tuna Stack was delicious with fresh Ahi Tuna, Avocado and Mango. The chips were good but no need because you ate the stack with a fork and it was just perfect. My Cumberland salad was amazing. The chicken was fresh, crisp and warm. It came on an already dressed chopped salad but they brought an extra ramekin of ranch dressing which was perfect to add a second dip of the salad and chicken in before eating. All the ingredients of the salad were fresh, it wasn't mushy or over dressed. I gotta say it was probably one of the best salads I have had. 6 of us had dinner reservations for New Years Day. When we arrived, the staff was very friendly and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make this a great experience. I started with the steak rolls, as I had heard so much about them. They were pretty good, but not over the top yummy. I still enjoyed them. For my entree, I ordered the Ahi tuna which was served with spinach and tomatoes. It was veryyyyyyy good! Very satisfying. My boyfriend ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus, which I tasted of course lol. It was absolutely delish! For dessert, we all wanted a blondie for each couple. The waiter informed us that there was only one left. We decided to go ahead and order it and share it amongst us girls. The fellas didn't care to have any. What struck me was that our waiter ended up bringing us two slices of chocolate cake at no additional charge because he felt bad that there was only one more blondie! The steak egg rolls and spinach dip were phenomenal. 8/10 Chicken tenders were fresh and a generous amount with 2 sides 9/10 My mother and I split the 20 oz New York strip with garlic mash and it was more than enough 10/10 The only thing that we did not enjoy was the big gnats flying and landing around us the entire meal. We had to swat them away while eating and one landed on my mothers lemon drop. We did inform the manager and he let us know pest control comes out twice weekly. Went there the other night for a business dinner with a customer. Steak Frites were excellent as well as the steak roll appetizer. It is quite loud so conversations are difficult. I only took off one star because the service was lacking. Dinner was nearly 3hrs long because our waitress kept disappearing. She took half of our tables drink orders and then disappeared for 20min. She had to be flagged down to get the rest of them. after we were all done it took another 30min to get the check. We had to get a manager to just get her to give us the check. Lucky for her it was a business dinner otherwise it would have been a very sad tip on a $350 bill. Still wasn't a great one but it was more than she deserved. read more

First I want to say I haven't never once felt inclined to write a review on any restaurant. I am not a picky eater or one to ever complain. I met up with friends for dinner here. I ordered the 16oz New York Strip Steak my friends had the 22oz Ribeye Steak.We all order our steaks medium rare. We had a Tuna Stack and Steak Rolls they were both enjoyable. When our steaks came out my friends steaks came out just right and they were very pleased. When I cut into my steak it was medium well. I was paying $50 for a steak I just wanted it to be right. So I told my waitress that I had ordered my steak medium rare. I should have just eaten it. There must have been some miscommunication between me and the waitress or the waitress and the kitchen. because she brought my steak back out WELL DONE as though it had been nuked in the microwave or warmed in the oven. I was very calm and receptive throughout the whole encounter not be condescending or rude. So I asked again if I could have my steak medium rare I may have mentioned described it as a little rarer than medium. When the steak came out I felt I was being messed with this at the point and just wanted to walk out and forget the whole thing. The steak was brought out set at the table and I was given a bow from a man .What I was assuming was the manager with no word said it felt very condescending . The steak was seared. And completely rare. When I say rare I mean it was cold to the touch. There is not in reasonable reason as to why anyone would want a steak like that. Without explanation and verifying that any person would be okay with a steak like that. They took it back and brought it out at what they describe as rare plus one. I gave up. I just wanted my steak medium rare. I tried to stomach some of it with some horseradish that had been left on the table. I paid for my meal reluctantly. And left a 20% tip. I took the steak home maybe my wife could warm it up and eat it later. I was going to risk ordering a meal to take home for her. There is no way that I would return again. Me and my wife had been looking for another date night spot.We frequent Jim's place grill and southern social. Looks like we will stick to them. I have never had an experience like this before. This is my favorite Sunday after church brunch spot! I usually meet a friend and we pop a squat at the bar. The view and surrounding conversations are so entertaining. The service at the bar is always GREAT! My go to menu item is the quiche and he gets the spinach salad. We LOVE 'our' bartender, Callie! I usually start with mimosas and he orders a Breakfast Martini. All of her drinks are hands down the best! On our last visit, she asked if we'd ever tried an Espresso Martini. Since neither of had, we decided to give it a try. Three Martinis in and we were sold! LOL We've found our new Sunday fun day cocktail! Even if you're not a coffee drinker, you'd love her Espresso Martini. It's not overbearing and she gives it her special touch with Baileys and Kalulah. It's so delicious! Came to watch the game and try Stoney river for the first time. The steak rolls were pretty good, not as good as porch and parlor in my opinion but they were tasty. The deviled eggs were no different from what I've had around here, but they were fine. We sat at the bar and had good service. We also got an order of the complimentary biscuits before we left. Probably won't be running back, but definitely will keep it on the list if we have ppl in town. The menu isn't very extensive so options are limited. read more
