Our first trip to Stouts pub was due to a coupon we received for a free pizza. I cannot day enough about the 1) service, 2) food quality and 3) price. Steve the chef accommodated a specialty order keeping 2 slices of our pizza cheese only. Our server, Tara Was quite possibly the nicest most genuine server ever. The food is bad. I think they expect you to get drunk on the drink specials, and then you can't tell how bad the food is. I would sit at the bar and order pizza out if I needed to stop in for a meal. This is one of the best restaurants for miles. I am a total foodie..travel and eat in some of best places in US...and this place has some of the best food ive ever had..not nust for pub fare..but food in general. The servers are friendly and on top of their game. Ive loved everything ive ever ordered..but the homemade chips with bacon aioli is ridiculous!!! The BLT is exceptional...i lived in NC the bacon and cold slaw capitol of the world and Stouts is the best ive ever had. Even their pickles are divine!!! I went here on a Saturday night around 7pm. It wasn't too busy. The atmosphere was nice. Nice dinning area as well as a bar in the center. It looked like it was kid friendly as well (the free popcorn probably helps with that factor). The reason why I gave it two stars was because the burgers were two star quality. For being a pub their bar food wasn't the greatest. We asked for medium done burgers but I guess the cook forgot and made them well done instead, almost to a crisp. The service was good, but the highlight of the night were the cheese curds, a must try if nothing else. We had a rather large group (15+ people) that we had made a reservation for ahead of time. It worked great for our group. We didn't feel like we were being too loud in a nice fancy restaurant and disturbing other patrons, but it wasn't so loud in there that we couldn't hear each other talk. My husband and I brought our 1 year old daughter, and ordered a pizza to share. It was good pizza (despite our child throwing much of hers on the floor). We aren't big drinkers (and I was pregnant & still nursing), so we didn't order any alcohol, but others ordered beers and seemed to like them all. (No idea which ones... sorry). I would go there again, but I guess I didn't find it as anything to write home about. Being as I love finding deals, I was a little bummed that I couldn't find a coupon ahead of time, but such is life. We still enjoyed ourselves and the food. read more

A comfortable bar and nice patio. The food is good but not great. I like this restaurant but consistency, specifically with the pizza is lacking. The first few times it was a-mazing. Brick oven so the taste was well seasoned, toppings fresh. Lately not so much. The patio is located looking larpenteur which can lead to some good people watching. Service is really good, we have enjoyed everyone we've had serve us. My only complaint in that department is it seems like some of the servers check with one person at the table and leave before checking with everyone at the table if they want a drink refill or need anything. I tried this place when it first opened, and I wasn't a big fan. I think it was because I went for food, and got a drink that I didn't end up enjoying. I recently went back, and was super impressed. I forgot how neat the atmosphere is! They have a cute little patio as well. Our waitress was really nice. Their happy hour is the best part...it's $3 beers, which is not just 2 or 3, but an entire list, and $2 off all appetizers. Wish I could give it zero stars. We were appalled at how rudely we were treated by the bartender, Cat. The two of us sat at the bar and asked if they had a specific beer and she responded, "the beers are listed in front of you". Then we asked if there were any food specials and were snidely told, "I gave you the menu". We commented how we felt she was being rude and her response was, "that was rude of us to say and proceeded to ask if we wanted to sit at a table and said she wasn't going to serve us and walked away". Needless to say we left immediately and have no desire to return. I called Drew, the night supervisor after we left and he apologized and said he would escalate it to the manager. Life's too short to put up with that attitude. If Cat treated my customers that way, she'd seriously be fired. read more

Burger was pretty good, but awfully messy. The pork tacos appetizers were much larger than I expected, but needed something more than just a dab of salsa and lime. Had lunch at Stout's Pub today with a friend.Arrived early so,we had immediate seating and great attention from the staff. Order a couple of beers and took a look at the menu. Ordered the Asian sliders and lunch fish and chips (cod). Food arrived in a timely manner....not too fast so we could talk and enjoy a sip or three of the beers. The food was hot on arrival, but the batter on the fish was so soggy it was inedible. The fries were nicely crisp somI don't have a great understanding of what happened with the fish batter. What I tasted of the batter tasted good, the texture was just bad. The fish itself was well cooked and tasted good. The tarter sauce was even good. The Asian sliders were large...we could have split that for lunch and been full. The pickles on top of the sandwich were pretty vinegary but added a good punch. Again the fries were hot and crisp. Overall a good lunch but not deserving of more than 3 stars because of the really poor preparation on the batter for the fish. Oh, they have a very nice and varied beer list. read more

I ordered a the stout dip sandwich for takeout today. Service was quick and friendly, the meat was well cooked and seasoned, the Au jus was flavorful, the portion size was very good. I enjoyed the addition of the spicy giardiniera. The bread didn't hold up well for take out, perhaps it would be better if it were more crisp- but you cannot expect perfection from a take-out order. I used to love coming to Stouts. I would visit every week in fact, since I live so close to the place. However, the new menu is severely lacking. I ordered a classic veggie burger with no cheese and got a veggie patty on a bun and instead of lettuce and tomato or standard burger toppings, they toothpicked a couple pickles and a small pepper to the burger. So I basically had a burger with ketchup and 2 pickles. The burger itself seemed to have changed recipes as well and was very plain tasting. It just really ruined my experience. I'm a vegetarian so my options are limited as is, but I always felt better taken care of before the new menu than I do now. It's like they are trying to take on a new hipster vibe, but for me, really not working. read more

This place was nothing special at all. Party of 5 went on a Friday night, and did not have to wait very long. We were seated at a comfortable booth. Atmosphere was dim but loud. They served coke products. Had a very large beer selection. Our server was pushy and not friendly at all. Everyone ordered burgers. No one I was with was very impressed with their food. I ordered fish and fries, and that was pretty good, but I have better. Had lunch with my co-workers at Stouts today. The food and service were great. Service was attentive but not overly so. Blackened shrimp tacos were a-mazing. Sadly, I expected better. They put ICE in my hard cider (what planet was the bartender from?) and poured a black and tan using Summit instead of Bass, which I know is sort of the lazy American way to do it but a place that calls itself a "pub" should be able to do it right. My husband said his burger was adequate. I ordered the fish and chips. The fries were tasteless. The batter on the fish was crispy but the only flavor was a slight bitterness. Kind of like eating crispy cardboard. I could have found it tolerable if the cod was good. But EWWW. The fish was soggy wet. Squishy spongy wet. I dumped salt on everything and if I weren't in a hurry I would have sent it all back. But I ate it. What can I say? I was really hungry. Other people seemed to be enjoying pizza and the guy next to us at the bar had an appetizer of sliders made with steak. He loved them. Went on Father's Day with my husband and kids. There's a loud buzzing noise that crops up every now and again (AC? Cooling for the beer?) that was too loud for my two year old. It also seemed to frustrate other patrons who were trying to watch the World Cup game. My food was delicious (burger without bun and side of roasted vegetables) but my husband's steak was full of fat. The waitress asked if he wanted a 'box for his leftover meat' and when he explained that everything that was left on the plate was fat, she looked perplexed. EXCELLENT food, beer and service! We got the fried pickles and the Stout Dip. Both were delicious! The pickles were plump and crunchy with a perfect light batter, and the Stout Dip was so tender it melted in your mouth. Wasn't impressed. The whole place just looked dirty. They have a popcorn machine so there was popcorn allll over the floor. I know that's bound to happen, but for a place that's not just a bar but also a sit down restaurant, I wish it would've been tended to better. Both of our menus were covered with food--gross. I really want to like Stout's. It's close to home and is a great spot for my roommate and I to meet for happy hour after work as it's right between our works. Our food has never been anything to write home about, and we've tried to try a variety of items to find one that would keep us coming back. There were five of us. We all ordered apps and beer. The service was great; friendly, courteous and attentive. The apps: Damn good. Artichoke dip, wings, walleye strips and pub shrooms. All the food was amazing. The beer: The selection is okay. I ordered three separate ones and only one was good. For me anyway. My friend thought I was crazy because I don't like smokey, coffee flavored butt juice in a glass. I believe it was called a "nitro." When we got here at 5:45, the place was paaaaaaacked! By the time we left around 7, I could have shot a cannon ball off and not hit a soul. I guess it's the only place around for happy hour. I'd probably go back. Ever since I read John O. review I just had to get over there. He has a way of making wherever he is, THE place to be. I really love this place and location but a few kinks made me take off a star. First I had to try the cheese curds. Extreme salt and greasiness made me not a big fan. Before you say, "They're cheese curds asshole", I just think back to the Dells and the ones without an ounce of grease, and they are my guide. We ordered like we were making up for lost time being there. Basil got fried mushrooms. They come with a weird horseradish dip. I got the walleye sandwich. I thought it was strange that it was a dollar less than the dinner. This thing is huge, so is the perfectly grilled ciabatta bun. Lots of lettuce, and a delicious homemade tarter sauce. Yes I could taste the beer. That was the soup also, beer cheese, but majorly lacking cheese. It was more like a dark brown pour of beer. I got that instead of fries. I tried a bite of the bread pudding in a small cast iron pan, served perfectly firm, good but could use whipped cream. An awesome server Sydney made our first visit exceptional. An odd assortment of customers. Most are into sports and watching one of the 3 TV's in one room alone. I couldn't help noticing the boomers like us, sitting behind me each with an IPAD. It wouldn't surprise me if they were texting each other. After I ordered I got up to go to the ladies room, which might have been a freezer at one time. I went there on opening night, and the following night. On opening night tap beers ranged from $7-9, and the next night I went there for happy hour and drinks were only discounted a dollar. The beer is way overpriced! The food is comparable to TGI Fridays or Applebees in quality and taste, and the prices are higher. The place has a decent atmosphere, but feels more like an Applebees with a lot of flat screen TVs. The bartenders were either asking me for a new drink every 5 seconds, or were non-existent. The servers are allowed to play music on the juke box, and on the first night we listed to Miley Cyrus for a half hour. Went there last night to have a beer with a friend. One of few bars and restaurants in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. The place looks great on the outside with a few tables out front. HOWEVER, it was very noisy inside ... seemed like it was almost too noisy for a conversation. We decided to sit at a table on the patio out front. That area was also noisy due to traffic on the busy street (Larpenteur Avenue). Cigarette smoke also drifted into the patio area where we were sitting adding to the unpleasantness. Yuck!! I won't be back and won't recommend the place to others ... highly unlikely that the management will make the noise adjustments to make the place enjoyable. Too bad since there are few places to go in the area. read more

Tips are great. Nachos are a scam, pay $8 for plain chips and cheese and add $2.50 for other topping that don't make it nachos. Also the place has nothing for dinner on the menu. Seems to cater to 55+ with mostly soup and sandwiches. read more

I have been here for meetings during the day and I LOVE this place. The food is always good and WAY better than you might expect. I have enjoyed everything I've had there. With "pub" in the name I wasn't expecting anything above greasy bar food but the food was excellent. My husband and I both ordered the sliders, one of the pulled pork and one with the filet. Both were good but we preferred the pork ones. They were spicy and had cucumbers and a nice aioli. The fries weren't great but we loved the coleslaw. We will be coming back for many more future lunches. read more

I have had 2 previous visits here with my boyfriend and a few other family members. Fantastic server- genuine, energetic, and very attentive. Unfortunately can't remember her name. I've had the teriyaki chicken wraps and chili- I would give both of those items five stars. Also would give our server five stars. Went again (3rd visit) today and sat at the relatively empty bar rail. Only one bartender working. Empty restaurant over-all, however that didn't stop the bartender from being extremely SLOW. He may have said hi but it took him at least 3-5 minutes to ask us what we wanted to drink, another 3+ minutes to make our bloody Mary's. Asked for a beer chaser, and he does a couple things before grabbing the 4oz sample, adding another minute or two to receive a beverage order. Kind of felt like he always had something better to do than check in with me and my friend. Like I said before- HE WASNT BUSY!!! I am very understanding to a busy bartender/server. It is hard to balance everything. He didn't make eye contact and almost seemed annoyed to be there working. Didn't care to tell us bloodys and mimosas were on special for 3:50 each. If we would have known we would have ordered more and left him a better tip if he even tried to be remotely personable. Did not ask how my eggs Benedict was tasting. I had to wave him down for salt and pepper because it was kind of bland. Not to mention we had to walk up to the host stand to grab menus in the first place. I understand having "off" days or bad days, but it was one thing after another with this guy. From the second we sat down to the second we left, poor service throughout. I was disappointed considering my pervious visits. Best thing about the visit besides how inexpensive the Bloody Mary's were, was how friendly the greeter was as we left and said something like, "thanks ladies, take care!" Nice little happy hour spot just outside of the cities. I stop by at least once weekly. Cheap happy hour prices, and they have a killer happy hour menu. The staff is very pleasant, and easy to talk to. I've had several items off their menu and have been pleased with all of them. They also do wood fired pizzas, which is a plus. My husband and I went to this place at about 11pm on a Saturday night and didn't realize their menu shortens in selection. They stop serving a full menu at 10pm. We were left with a handful of items to choose from. Since we were already seated and didn't want to leave (we live about 2 blocks away) because we walked here, we didn't want to get up and leave to eat elsewhere. Their menu only consist of wood fire pizzas and a handful of appetizers past 10pm to choose from. If you want to eat a variety of food past 11pm, do not go here. Unless you want pizza and the 5 appetizers they have on their menu then fine. I'm giving 3 stars due to being here during the day and their food is actually decent. Lots of good beer to choose from too. We'll come back only during the day. read more
