Quick and great service! We got the Hellcat Burger and the Mango Habanero chicken wings- man were those spicy! I would say be cautious if you're looking for a more sweet and spicy wing, as these were very habanero forward- still delicious though. They were still smoking hot by the time it got to our table! Food came out fast, the burger was immaculate. Fries were perfectly done too. They've really nailed their ratio of sauce and burger. The prices are a little on the steeper end, but the quality of the burger was worth it. Decor was awesome too! I definitely want to come back to try their other stuff as what we had was already so great, another table nearby had gotten their beef stroganoff and that looked delicious. We'll be back! read more

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon at 2:30, and it appears we were just in front a busy wave. The restaurant has a car theme with a large selection of burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads and a few barbecue items as well, not to mention a nice selection of beers. I ordered the Hell-Cat burger with tots and was not disappointed. The burger was spicy, could have been a bit more, but very well done and cooked. Tots were great, I always opt for the tots when they are on the menu, but because the tots were so good, I'd have t believe the fries will be superb ( need to come back and try them fore sure). My bride ordered the Mac-and-cheese with burnt ends, the dish was amazing. My brother and nephew ordered the Motorcycle Monkey (burger with bacon and maple infused peanut butter) and they loved it. I will have to come back for that one. The service was ok, it was clear that they were not expecting the rush of people that came in at the same time, but the staff was kind and worked hard to make our experience great. This is a unique burger stop with some impressive grill items and you should not underestimate. I'll be back a few more times, there are several menu items that we'd like to try. Looking for good meat? This is your stop. The chili has great meat and is tangy. It comes with a bag of Fritos so you can't go wrong. I think it's a little pricey though - $19. The chicken wings are good. They come out hot and flavorful. I've tried the sweet chili and the lemon rubbed. Both are good. They have a large selection of beer, wine, seltzer and cider. Daily specials are posted near the front. The service is quick and efficient. They can split the bill for groups which makes it very convenient. This is a casual racing themed restaurant. Outdoor patio has picnic tables for larger groups. It's nice to sit indoors, too. There's a big parking lot for easy access. I've always considered this one of the best burger spots, which is why it's so disappointing to say that our last few visits haven't lived up to expectations. This time, we all ordered from the specials menu. The BLT sounded incredible--heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, pesto, lettuce, mayo and Dutch crunch bread--but unfortunately, it really fell short. The bacon was chopped and sparse, and the sandwich itself was quite dry. With a description like that, I expected bold flavor, but it ended up tasting pretty flat. It definitely could have used more bacon and more mayonnaise to bring it together. My sister ordered the chicken pot pie, which was also a letdown. While it was packed with chicken, it lacked flavor and was extremely dry--so much so that she ended up just eating the crust. That said, not everything missed the mark. Our friend ordered the Wagon Wheel burger and said it was delicious, which is more in line with what I've experienced here in the past. Historically, everything I've ordered has been consistently good, which makes this recent experience even more surprising. The location is great with ample parking, and the service continues to be excellent. The staff was attentive, even seating us outside and turning on the heater to keep us comfortable. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, though I personally prefer sitting outside since the music indoors can be a bit loud for conversation. Visited 10/18/2023 Wow Hello My San Diego Foodie Friends. I ran across this place a few weeks ago on Yelp and thought it was just another Burger and Beer joint. I spent some time checking it out on The Internet and Yelp. I was intrigued with the menu and response they were getting from different groups of people and decided to check it out for myself. I'm sure glad I did. First I have a Favorite Burger Place in Pacific Beach. The Food Box has the best quality Gourmet Burgers I've found anywhere in San Diego till now. STP Bar-N-Grill for me has tied it up with The Food Box for Amazing Burgers and Fries. They both use Grass Fed Black Angus Beef and both hand form there 1/2 pound Beef Patty's. Both have all Fresh Veggies and make their own sauces. I'm now in love with both places. STP has a menu with a great selection of Specialty Burgers, Sandwich's, And a few Slow Smoked BBQ Plates. Today I chose The OLDS 442 Burger. It's a 1 pound Burger with 4 different slices of cheese, Sautéed Onions, Lettuce, and Tomato. Comes with A nice amount of some excellent Fries, Tots, or Curly Fries. I was definitely Not Disappointed. Cooked a perfect Medium Rare and served piping hot. The seasoning was spot on and the flavor of the meat showed the Quality of The Beef. For Dessert I had The Butter Cake w/bourbon glaze, piping hot with Whipped Cream. Damn that was Tasty. Lots of seating inside and on the patio. Plenty of Free Parking. The food is a little pricy but not for the Quality Ingredients used. Worth Every Penny for a very special Burger Place. Go to this nice small family owned place. Very nice great food. Wanted to try out neighborhood place for birthday dinnerand did not want to have to dress up. Great casual place without feeling like a fast food place. My son had 1/2 rack rib platter. I stole one and it was meaty, fall off bone tender and the sauce was wonderful. Not too sweet with a little teriyaki flavor without being cloyingly sweet. My sandwich was big and tasty brisket with sweet grilled onions and provelone cheese. Nice bread that i did not have to fight it to get a bite. The fries were crunchy and tasty just a little bit if seasoning. My daughter had the (fiat) chicken parm sandwich. she scarfed it down and said it hit the spot. My husband had the classic cheeseburger. Big and juicy. read more

Was recommended by a friend to try this spot out for their burgers. As a burger fan everything on their menu sounded amazing. Service was quick, and me and my friend decided to split the burger since it sounded very filling for just one person. We ordered the Olds 442 w/ fries and chilly brisket that came with Fritos chips. When our order was brought to us we were given fried pickles instead of fries. That could also be due to us talking about the fried pickles before confirming if it was fries. The server was kind enough to adjust our order and brought us the fries. He made us keep the fried pickles. The fried pickles were crispy on the outside, and the inside was crunchy and juicy too! The olds burger was so juicy that the buns were absorbing all the extra juice and fats from the meat that it started slowly falling apart. Either way, burgers is never an easy eat when it's stacked with extra stuff. So expect to have a bit of a mess. But oh my gosh, that chilly was absolutely delicious! Especially after I crushed the Fritos chips and topped the chilly with it. It even added extra flavor putting some of the chilly on top of the burger and fries. This spot is a nice pub spot and had a very chill atmosphere. I see why people rate their burgers pretty high too. read more

I had the hellcat Which is a jalapeño smash burger, it was so good wow one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Fries were hot and tasty. My wife has a pastrami which she loved. Service was fast and friendly, super chill place playing good rock n roll and its car themed and right up my alley both workers came to our table for friendly conversation. But this time Matthew steered me to the Bullitt Brisket Sandwich and it was so tender. I mean you could cut it with a fork ! Great flavor and goey cheese. Nice and smoky. Also I would say ask for the spicy relish. It goes well with this sandwich. And the bun with garlic butter is fantastic. This is absolutely one of my favorite San Diego spots! Met up with some friends here, a first visit for all of us. Found the place to have a good amount of seating both inside and outside. When I first pulled in to the parking lot it was pretty busy but it was shortly after "lunch" time and most of those diners were leaving so we had plenty of seating options available to us once we entered. Greeted by friendly staff and a very clean dining area. They have a very nice variety of menu items to choose from, including a list of specials which were posted on a chalkboard by the front door and again inside. The menu ranges from appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches including vegetarian options, desserts and plenty of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks available so everyone should be able to find something. I went with the Top Fuel burger, which included a smashed baked potato on top of the burger patty. I got it without the sour cream and if I were to get it again, I'd ask for extra cheese. The burger was fantastic though and definitely something I'd consider if I were to return though with all the other options available it might be pushed to the side. I got it with tater tots as a side and there was a slight upcharge for that choice. Another person in our group got the Blown Head Gasket tri-tip sandwich with fries and said it was excellent. The other person got a burger (can't remember which one) and was very pleased with that one as well. Good quality, great quantity, decent value. This is known as one of the top tier burger spots in San Diego so my friends and I stopped by for a try. Among the many unique items on their menu I ordered the Bullitt which is honestly more of a sandwich than a burger. Overall: I had so much fun dining here from enjoying the aesthetic of the restaurant to the funny friendly banter from the server. It really felt like I was eating at a classic American diner with the added automotive vibe. Food wise I was a bit disappointed with the brisket in my Bullitt sandwich but I had a few bites of the other burgers my friends ordered and was pleasantly satisfied with those. Beware, one order of a burger and fries or whatever side you get is extremely heavy and will fill you up. I am normally a big eater but the items at this restaurant are very heavy and oily to the point where you might feel a bit sick. Bullitt: Meaty, juicy, tender, melting. The Bullitt is a sandwich with some smoked brisket coated with their house BBQ sauce topped with white cheddar and caramelized onions all inside of a french roll lined with mayo. Upon first glance, the sandwich didn't look as appetizing as the other burgers that my friends had ordered but when I took a bite I was pleasantly surprised with an extremely tender sandwich. The French roll wasn't very toasted so everything melted altogether in my mouth. The brisket was honestly a quite disappointing considering they are an American restaurant that specializes in BBQ and burgers. Taste wise the brisket was very tender but lacked in the smokey flavor that is advertised. On top of that there isn't a smoke ring on my brisket at all and the bark is nonexistent and it just looked like any regular slab of meat... but not seared. The brisket lacked, texture, flavor, and aroma and based on all of these things I could only presume that the brisket isn't actually smoked but perhaps steamed or boiled in a less conventional way. Coming from someone who had spent 27 hours smoking a brisket at home and knows what smoked brisket should look and taste like, I was extremely disappointed. The house BBQ sauce wasn't very present in my sandwich but fortunately I asked for some on the side to go with my tater tots and I was able to get a better taste of it. I didn't think anything special of it other than it was quite a standard BBQ sauce. The caramelized onions were very tender and soft and in conjunction with the white cheddar created a creamy layer on top of the brisket. This sandwich and the other burgers my friends ordered and I had a taste of were honestly very oily and heavy. While there is an enjoyable amount of "heavy/greasy" food that I can guiltily enjoy, this one pushed past that line and I just felt kind of gross afterwards for the rest of the day. The tater tots on the side were absolutely delicious. They were light, fluffy, but also had a solid crispy layer on the outside. I feel like its hard to get tater tots wrong as even frozen tots thrown in an air fryer can taste just as good. Their house ranch was a nice sauce to try the tots with but it was extremely herby with a strong strong presence of dill which was good on the first few bites but afterwards I got kind of sick of it. I ended up finishing up my tots with ketchup and BBQ sauce. The service was great and our server was funny and helpful and was amazing with friendly banter. She embodied the traditional diner server attitude and it honestly does add so much to the experience dining here. Aesthetics wise the restaurant has two main dining areas. The indoor dining area is decorated with a full automotive vibe from the door to the restrooms too. There aren't many places that truly stick with one bold aesthetic and I am very happy that this store goes full blast with it as its unique, different, and fun. The outdoor dining area is less race-car-y and more traditional barbecue yard house. There is a big outdoor shade and a bunch of wooden bench lunch tables that make for a cozy friendly dining experience. read more

Pros: - Attentive, nice staff. - Sizable burger and portion of fries/tots - I ordered the Cougar but it was missing tomato/lettuce/onions/etc (essentially all of the fixings listed on the menu). and had chopped bacon instead. I stupidly did not notice until a few bites in. Our server apologized for the mistake and gave us a free to-go container of banana pudding cheesecake. My partner got something with barbecue sauce (I don't remember the name of it and can't seem to find it on the online menu) but he enjoyed it. - The fries and tots were cooked nicely but I wish there was a little bit more seasoning/some sort of house sauce to pair with it. read more

After my daughter's softball championship win, we rolled into STP Bar & Grill in San Diego with a last-minute party of 30--yes, 30 people--and let me just say... they handled it like pros! From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming, kind, and incredibly attentive. You could tell they were busy, but they never made us feel like an inconvenience. They were patient with our big group, made sure everyone was taken care of, and the service never skipped a beat. And the food? So good. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. You could tell the kitchen was on point, and every single one of us left full and happy. The S.O. and I like to come here every now and then to sit at the bar and chat with the workers behind the counter. They have a small draft menu but it is well curated and full of variety. The workers are always full of energy and in good spirits which are all the indicators of a great business. For some reason, I am obsessed with their Sweet Corn Nugs which I relish alongside their massive burgers served with 1/2lb patty and CHOICE ingredients. I often am attracted to the constantly rotating choices on their Specials menu. In addition, they serve your classic American BBQ which is none too bad and are served in massive portions. They have the theme down pat and overall vibes are tremendously cheerful and genuine. They attract a mixed crowd, maybe leaning towards older patrons, the theme mighty attractive to them and likely bringing back fond memories from their youth.
