I had never been to a Straw Hat Pizza before. I had big expectations. I wasn't all that impressed. First off, there were things I did like about it. The salad bar was great! One of the best ones that I have been to in quite a while. I just would like to have the option of a limitless salad bar and not just the one trip option. There was many selections to choose from to build your salad. That's a big plus for me. They need to change the Coca-Cola fountain machine to the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. The options there are always good to have with pizza. I liked that they had an actual bar. I could see coming in for food and drinks here. The place has a good feeling to it. A nice atmosphere I guess you could say. Definitely had a family friendly feeling too. The staff was helpful and friendly. I would just have to say that the pizza itself was a bit underwhelming. It looked really good. It just was lacking some flavor. I couldn't tell if the pizza needed more sauce or if the pizza dough itself was just dry. If I go back, I definitely would ask for extra sauce on my pizza. I just wasn't feeling the wings. Something about the texture of them that just wasn't working for me. Again, I really want to like this pizza place and I will try it again. I hope I just need to make some adjustments to my order to get it right. read more

I had an overwhelming yearning for Pizza ! I once worked for Pizza Hut - White Lane, so I tried them first, a medium combination pizza and a very small container of Alfredo pasta was $45.00 with no drinks. I asked for graded cheese packets and the Chili packets and they wanted to charge me for that ! I refused ! after spending $45.00 I was no a happy camper. I got home and the pizza was way overcooked - Brown !! burnt. so I tried the pasta, it was horrible! I calmed myself and returned praying that I would get my full refund. Thank goodness I did. I new since this place was new it would be a little slow like most places are when they first open. The cashier told me it was at least a 45-1 hour wait. I got a plate for the salad bar while we waited. The staff was overwhelmed but still stayed on their toes. The pizza was good with a really good sauce; however it could have used a few more minutes in the oven to get crispy on the bottom of it. The wings are amazing! Crispy, meaty and juicy. I ordered a pizza, cheese twists, and potato wedges. All of them were good, not great. I live around the corner and will likely be back. Let's talk potato wedges. There are not the crunchy type that you see and Magoo's or even Rusty's, but they are good. My wife and I have a favorite "cheesey bread twist" place that all others are measured against, that this place was ranked as "just ok". Finally visited this spot near our home and we were pleasantly surprised with nearly everything. I think the mojo potatoes were probably the best I've ever had. The buffalo wings were very good and the pizza reminded me of Pizzaville, which I like very much. The bartender was so fun and animated. We didn't order drinks but we came with four tween age girls and she played with them and interacted with most all of the customers. The only reason for the four star rating was when we arrived we waited about five minutes to order. There was a big guy coming and going from the area where you order but he never addressed us. Once the young girl arrived who actually did take our order, he just stood there, kind of directing her which was obviously a little annoying for her, and awkward for us. If he was a manager training someone, he should have acknowledged us and let us know rather than having us stand there for five minutes wondering what to do, lol. We finally got to try Straw Hat and this pizza place pleased the family, so we'll definitely be back because everyone like a certain thing from there. We arrived around 3:30 yesterday and to our luck; Happy hour was going on, and for $3 a beer I had to indulge a little...The staff were friendly and helpful, and the scene is chill for the whole family to attend for a night out. We gave S.H. a four star review and here are the reasons...our opinion might be different from your opinion, but all in all S.H. was worth the drive. The pizza was good, no question, but a little more sauce and pepperonis would make the pizza perfect. The wings could have been in the fryer a little longer to get that perfect bite, but I still enjoyed them. If they offer a double fry on the wings next time we'll request it for sure. You guys, I can't believe how long I waited to come to Straw Hat. I grew up in Northern California, so Straw Hat was a staple of my childhood pizza nights up there. It has been years since I had their pizza. My dad was in town so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to surprise him with some Straw Hat pizza like we used to eat together. We ordered the same thing we always used to order, Canadian bacon and mushrooms. I ordered my half with pepperoni though this time! I pre ordered it online and we drove to the shop. It was ready at check in time, so probably 15 mins after I ordered, on a weekend. The inside had plenty of customers so I was impressed with the timing. Everything tasted EXACTLY the way it should taste from a Straw Hat. The memories came rushing back with each bite. I am so excited we have the opportunity to patronize this business! It's definitely unlike a majority of the pizza textures and flavors we have in town. Very cheesy, plenty of toppings, and the crust is soft yet also has a harder outside without being crunchy. Restaurant is very spacious and very well designed. Now the food. On multiple visits my pizza has been cooked too long where the crust has been burned pretty bad. Potato wedges were great while the wings were small and not that tasty. Salad bar looked good but never tried it. Restrooms could smell a little better. The biggest problem at this location is the wait time. When I entered the restaurant there were only 2 other people sitting. I ordered a medium pizza, small wedges and wings at 2:50pm. The food wasn't brought out until 3:35pm. A 45 min wait when there were approximately 6 people total in the restaurant. That is unacceptable. There should be no reason it takes almost an hour to get food served. It's happened before. We want to like this place but just can't make it happen with their lack of attentiveness to customers. read more

Let me start by saying the food is great. With that being said I've been eating pizza all my life and I've NEVER been charged extra for topping when you get half one way and the other half another. Their prices are already on the high side but this over did it. In a time where everything is so expensive this really was the kicker. They have TV's everywhere so it's good to watch a game.
