This is a really cute breakfast spot tucked in the Avenues neighborhood. It was a diner vibe with adorable homestyle signage, but with large windows creating a light atmosphere. Wandered in late Sunday morning for some brunch and it was bustling, if not busy. Staff of two cooking/prepping/serving did an admirable job of handling the load - I waited longer to order than it took to get my food - I wasn't in a hurry so I'm complaining, just setting expectations. Ordered a sausage, bacon, ham breakfast burrito which was amazing. Had hash browns in it too which scored points with me. Also had a cinnamon roll which was fresh and delicious and not sickly sweet like some places. Just good. The young lady taking orders and serving greeted and served everyone with a huge smile which added to the experience. We were in town for a volleyball tournament and I hit up yelp to find a local breakfast spot. Yelp never disappoints me, the folks at Straw Market can COOK! Delicious breakfast burrito, and ridiculously good cinnamon rolls. Went back the next day for more, and had to fight our way through the marathon traffic only to find them closed. They made space for us and fed me and the crew of parents I brought with me. HIGHLY recommend them and if you happen to live in SLC, you're pretty damn lucky to have a place like this for breakfast. read more

Doesn't look like much from the outside, but $2 cinnamon rolls... Who wouldn't stop?! This is a small mom and pop shop with classic breakfast options, a lot of bang for your buck. Not thing fancy about the options, very traditional -- breakfast sandwiches, omelets, french toast, coffee etc. Food was filling, not incredibly flavorful, more like a good home cooked breakfast from mom. We got coffee (decent diner coffee), a breakfast sandwich, California omelet, and of course cinnamon rolls. My husband and I are pretty big cinnamon roll fans and some runners in front of us told us these are the best in Utah. I won't lie, they are some of the best we've ever had. Soft, not too sweet, fresh, and lots of cinnamon. Definitely worth buying a few to take home (especially at $2 a piece). Definitely recommend. read more

Food was good but it wasn't anything special, and it took forever! We arrived and got a table in the small dining area and it wasn't busy, so we were surprised that we had to wait over 30 minutes after we ordered our food at the counter. The place has a trendy vibe/look but our food came out on paper plates and we were given to-go cups for our coffee even though we were dining in. Looking around at all the tables full of disposable plates, cups, and silverware made it clear this place doesn't care about the environment at all. It's also dumb to spend your money on all those products when you could wash and re-use dishes. Maybe use that money to hire another cook so you can get breakfast out to customers in a more reasonable amount of time! read more

It was one of our last days in SLC and we finally had time to get a decent bfast, so I'm glad I came across Straw Market. What originally caught my attention (and appetite) were the pics of their cinnamon rolls *Homer Simpson drool* We originally planned to pick up the cinnamon roll and get fast food bfast from either McDonald's or Chick-fil-a...thank goodness we did not! The bfast menu here is super affordable and I got very homey vibes from the interior down to how the eggs were scrambled. I ended up getting a bfast sandwich with eggs, cheese and bacon on an english muffin while my fiance ordered a bfast burrito with bacon and sausage. It was close to noon and we heard the workers tell customers after us that they were out of some items, so if you're set on what you're having for bfast, come early-ish. The best part of our meal was definitely the cinnamon rolls ugh I wish we got 2 to have our own. I love cinnabon, but these were even better! I liked that the bread wasn't so dense and while the icing looks thick, it isn't too sweet. Just perfect! On top of great food, the workers helping us out were super nice. Will have to come back here next time we happen to be in SLC! read more

I wouldn't give it a one star. Don't ever tolerate racism or profiling. While door dashing downtown Salt Lake City I saw I had a drop off near this place and it was around my lunch time so I figured I'd use the restroom and check out the menu. So I proceed to use the restroom first then look at the menu to order. After realizing majority of what I would have ordered was pork base (don't eat pork) I proceed to leave. The cook yells from the side window "have a good day (sarcastically) there's no public restrooms"! Now I don't know if this is just the cook or the owner of the establishment & I didn't know if my size and skin color irritated him but I didn't see a sign that said "no public restrooms" it's not even located in a area that needs a "no public restrooms" sign but the fact is he didn't know I had intentions of grabbing lunch which is fine but he seem very irritated making it known there's no public restrooms. Used to be amazing, cheap, and fast. Now it's the opposite. Prices SKYROCKETED and the quality went WAY down. The wait is super long even when you're the only ones there. Awesome desserts here!! It is situated in the neighborhood parts of SLC, so that was really interesting to walk through. My boyfriend and I initially just got the cinnamon bun and then a cookie (THEY WERE ONLY $1 EACH). But as soon as we finished those two things, we were so impressed that we bought a brownie for another dollar. AMAZING. SOOO GOOD. Great little place for the price and speedy efficiency! I stopped in Saturday morning for a late breakfast and ordered the veggie omelet with a cinnamon roll to go. The omelet came out quickly and was cooked pretty much perfectly and everything was cheap. I got the whole meal, with a side of bacon, for $8. The cinnamon roll sadly left much to be desired and is basically the only reason I'm knocking off a star. I thought it was just okay. Maybe it needs to be heated up like they serve it for it to be as amazing as everyone says it is, but I just wasn't wowed by it. For the price, it's still a good option, but I'd rather pay more for a better tasting roll. Maybe the batch I had the roll from was just not baked the same way. Cute neighborhood cafe! This isn't the typical type of breakfast place I go to but I figured it was worth a try. Situated on the corner of an intersection in a cute little neighborhood, Straw Market served some good food. Out of the various crepes being served, I ordered the Banana and Orange Reduction Crepe which was not overly sweet and flavorful. The sliced banana balanced the sweetness of the orange reduction and they both complimented the crepe. I liked how the ends were crisp to give it different textures. My dining companion was less adventurous and had scrambled eggs and hash browns. I didn't bother trying it out but he seemed to enjoy it. We shared a cinnamon roll which was a nice touch to the end of the meals. I highly recommend visitors get out of the downtown corridor and venture to this place for a bite. Shame on me for not finding this place sooner. I was highly impressed from my first phone call to my final pickup. I needed to place an order for a work meeting where I needed to cater breakfast for 12 people today and the manager Tyler was extremely helpful on the phone yesterday as I asked my questions to prepare for the meeting and went above and beyond to make sure his team helped me. Carly took my order yesterday and was extremely friendly and patient as I went through all 12 individual orders. She took detailed notes and took time to make sure each order was correct before finalizing everything. I got to the shop early this morning (way before my 745 scheduled pickup time) and I just hung out outside to give them time to process the order. I walked in around 735 and waited as 2 other customers were being helped in front of me. Tyler was the one at the counter and he was so pleasant and helpful with each customer. I needed to do my order tax exempt and he was so helpful in getting the order figured out. He also offered me the cinnamon rolls on the tray and allowed me to bring it back to him so I could carry them easily to the meeting, and I was really appreciative of that. He took the time to label everything in my order so it was easy for me to hand out everything when I got to the meeting. On to the food...everyone absolutely enjoyed their meals and it was all gone within minutes. I can only speak to what I ate and it hit the spot. I ordered the breakfast burrito without the meat. The tortilla was nice and soft and the eggs were cooked fully and perfectly. Best of all, I thought it was going to be full breakfast potatoes inside but it was hash browns!! And they were crisp and the perfect addition to the inside of the burrito and a welcome surprise!! And hello, can we talk about how awesome the prices are?!?! Everything on the breakfast menu is $6 and under!! A delicious, filling breakfast for well under 10 bux. Hell yes. Sign me up. I will drive all the way down from Bountiful any given day for this food and I will be sure to use them again when we need food for meetings!! Don't let me forget the most important thing...the cinnamon rolls. The website says "home of Utah's best cinnamon rolls." I absolutely agree. And so did everyone who had one in the meeting. They would haphazardly grab one and start eating it as the meeting was in progress and they would stop and ask "whoa who made these, these are delicious"...and I personally think they are better than Cinnabon!! Simple menu but good selection and food well done- we got the breakfast sandwich $3 and California omelet - full Order $6 and it comes with a cinnamon roll or toast. Park is great during the weekdays - street parking with a few stall in front of restaurant so on weekends it can be questionable but worth the effort. People are helpful and friendly. read more

How does this place exist!! The food was excellent and it was so cheap. I don't understand. I had an omelette and it was so good. The girl taking my order even suggested a modification that would make more sense for what I wanted in my omelette. I love when people help you with that! It was an excellent fluffy meal with a side of appropriately greasy potatoes. I also had a coffee and cinnie roll. The cinnie roll is not overrated. It really is that good. So soft and warm and perfect, not overwhelmingly cinnamon. I got my entire meal, with a coffee for like twelve dollars after tax and tip. How is it possible! The place definitely feels more like a little coffee shop or market (name checks out), but the food stands up to any overpriced diner. Do yourself a favor and come here!! read more

Less than Impressed. I had heard this place was good by friend. We were excited to try a new place for breakfast, last Sunday. I called before hand to place a phone order to go. It wouldn't let me, i had to place an order online. Fine, no worries. We were excited to try an omelet, crepe and cinnamon roll (i'd heard They were HUGE and delicious) I placed the order and there were no crepes, pretty bummed we couldn't order those online. We proceeded to order french toast, omelet and cinnamon rolls. It said the order would be ready in 20 min, and it made up pay online. Fine not a big deal We pull up there is a line out the door. It was starting to get hot. I waited, and waited. 10 min passed, 15 min 20. The line hadn't moved. It had already been 45 min since I placed our order. Finally after another 5 min, 50 min total someone came out the side door and yelled my name. I went and picked up my order. We had planned on having a picnic close by. They didn't include forks/knives. No syrup for French toast. We just went back home. They forgot one cinnamon roll but it was ok, we literally didn't eat the first one. It was blah, a little larger than the palm of my hand and a little over 1" thick. That was the best cinnamon roll in Utah?! I don't think so. I can name 10 other places better and 3 are grocery stores. The French toast was on thin bread. The omelette was edible, nothing great. The place was a shit show. Need to get their crap together and check to go orders. Can't say I'd recommend or go back. There are plenty of other places in the area that are actually good. read more

So yummy and cheap! They also have outlets and tables so you can sit there for hours sipping coffee and doing your work. It's standard diner fare and they are a bit heavy on the grease so if you care, just ask them to hold back. I found the straw Market to be a great place to while away an afternoon while you caught up on emails and phone calls. This cute little restaurant is has limited parking and about 21 chairs inside. It has a small diner feel where there are are out 4 people working. You order at the counter and then you get your own beverage and utensils. The menu is written in chalk on the wall. I ordered the short stack which includes 2 eggs any style, hash browns, and toast or a cinnamon roll. I'm not a huge fan of hash browns but they were really good here. It's not a huge helping like the other chains but a nice thin crispy, crunchy top and a warm, soft underneath. I also ordered the banana Nutella filled crepe and I was expecting a little more sweetness. The presentation could've been prettier, but it was still good. read more
