Fresh strawberries and very fast and friendly service. First time getting the shake, tasted good but too syrupy for me. I'd probably go with their strawberry shortcake or sundae next time. No seating, just a window in the sidewalk, but plenty of places nearby.
This little shop is so dang cute when you walk up, it's on the main strip in Carlsbad. The menu is almost overwhelming, so many yummy strawberry treats to choose from. We had an older gentleman helping us out and he was very nice. We will be back.
This place doesn't just hit -- it slaps every single time. A friend put me onto Strawberry Shack years ago, and from that first bite it earned a permanent spot on my SoCal radar. The hospitality is effortless and genuine, the kind that doesn't need explaining. Simple, honest flavors done right, every single time. Now let's be real -- parking kinda sucks. With the Starbucks next door closed, finding a spot turns into a small endurance test. You'll circle, you'll sweat it out, and you might question if it's worth it. It is. Once you finally step up to the window, grab the strawberry pineapple Dole Whip. Cold, smooth, and wildly refreshing. The kind of reward that makes the parking headache disappear after the first bite. Some places fade over time -- this one stays rooted, sweet, and worth the effort
I need to leave one star because I wasn't able to try it. Want to know why? They literally had only us in line and we got no acknowledgment and had the come back in 30 minute sign shoved in our face. We were the only ones left? And how rude to not at least acknowledge us and tell us you need to restock. She literally served the other ppl 2 minutes before us? Check my picture. You can literally see the people who got served right before it was our turn to get to the window. And they were like wow when they saw that they did that to us. So for now... strawberry shack... do better.
Came here and got the signature strawberry shack shake. It tasted good but not really special - pretty much what you would expect of a combination of strawberry and yogurt. There looked to be some other syrups or chocolate swirled on the sides of the cup but I couldn't really taste it. If I came back I would probably try the strawberry lavender sundae instead because it seems more unique. Service was good - the lids they had were kind of weird shaped and didn't fit on the cups, but the woman at the counter told us that beforehand and apologized for the inconvenience. The shack itself has a kind of cute nostalgic look, with little strawberry themed toys and a Beatles poster. No seating though!
What an adorable roadside strawberry shack. This place definitely has curb appeal. So cute and what a fun walk up shop.I could easily see the line at this place getting long. We got there just before closing.So we weren't able to try everything, but it is so good that we cannot wait to go back tomorrow. Things we didn't get to try tonight.Were ice cream and the whipped cream?Because they had just run out when we got there.And it takes fifteen minutes to make as they make this right there in house. Even without the whipped cream, our stuff was amazing. We tried the strawberry key lime pie, dole whip pineapple, dole whip pineapple strawberry swirl, and strawberry shortcake, I definitely missed having whipped cream on this, but it was still so good!! With their own house made angel food cake. Wow!!!! Its was so light, sweet and gooood! The strawberry was very sweet and sneak a little dole whip in their it is AMAZING! ILL BE BACK!
Good spot to test out some local strawberry themed products. The Strawberry Shack Shake as a refreshing drink on a warm day. The shake was not overly sweet and tasted fresh. Next time I'd like to try the chocolate covered strawberries. The employees were friendly and the service was quick.
Found my way to strawberry shack. Literally a shack in Carlsbad village. I loved their strawberries. Good quality for sure. 7 bucks for a strawberry shortcake really easy to eat. Not too sweet. I really enjoyed this Strawberry shake had a little too much strawberries but still really good. Thought it be too sweet but it wasn't Cool little spot. Fun items on here. Definitely will be back
The cutest little dessert spot that has everything strawberry based deserts. I ordered their chocolate strawberries which were super delicious, and I also tried their strawberry shake which was to die for!
Excellent spot to stop in for a quick strawberry snack while you cruise around downtown Carlsbad! They have chocolate covered strawberries, sundaes, shakes and more! They also have Dubai chocolate! It's always busy but they move fast and the wait isn't bad at all! The name Strawberry Shack is super fitting as it is literally a tiny little shack! Lol It's super cute, excellent location and overall brilliant idea!
Strawberry Shack is located near the large Carlsbad sign over a street that is seen in many photos of Carlsbad. As implied by the name, it a shack where you order all types of desserts or drinks that are strawberry flavored. You order from one window and receive the order from the other. There are two standing tables to enjoy the strawberry treat. I got the bowl of strawberry and strawberry shake. Both were reasonably priced with a great portion size. The homemade whipped cream was a great addition to both. I preferred the shake over the bowl of strawberries, which tasted sour on its own. Service was friendly but a bit awkward. When I asked the staff for recommendations, they couldn't really explain the options in any sort of detail. It looked like they were perplexed that I even asked these types of questions. Nonetheless, they were quick in the delivery. Overall, Strawberry Shack employs a very unique concept and is good to visit at least once.
such a cute little dessert shop they have a wide variety of different strawberry treats. We opted for the strawberry crumb cake and it was delicious. The owner is so nice and very helpful. I would definitely recommend.
I love strawberry season! We stopped by the strawberry shack to try some delicious berry desserts and we were not disappointed. I was so surprised at how many different ways there were to enjoy a strawberry lol. This was our first visit so we decided to go with what seemed to be two of the most popular items: the strawberry shake (5/5) and the strawberry shortcake (4/5). The shake was very creamy, made with custard and blended bits of strawberry, topped with homemade whipped cream. There was a drizzle of both strawberry and chocolate syrup on the sides, which I thought the touch of chocolate was perfect. The shortcake was good, and I guess I was just used to more of a traditional cake base (something sturdier) instead of the angel food cake. Still delicious though. Will absolutely return to try other strawberry desserts! read more

Definitely a hidden gem in Carlsbad! I've been going to this area for years and was barely introduced to this gem recently. The line quickly formed after us but it went by really quickly. Their strawberry shortcake is a must but I do think they skim you on the portion of shortcake to strawberries. My friends loved their strawberry shake as the chocolate syrup is almost a mimic of a chocolate covered strawberry. The pricing is fair and worth it if you're in the area! If you're lucky, you can find parking right next to the Starbucks but I've seen other parking spots around the area if you're up for a little walk! read more

This tiny shack serves up strawberries ice cream, shortcake, sundaes, everything strawberries. There's a parking lot close by, but parking is competitive. Still a cute little place for a little strawberry treat. read more
Their strawberry tiramisu is sooooooo gooooood! Service is quick (no long lines for me as other reviewers report, but maybe because it was a chill Sunday), and the menu is overwhelming but in a good way with amazing options to choose from. Happy to see this little stand thrive, so appropriate since there are the nearby strawberry fields that Carlsbad is known for. I'll keep this spot in mind when entertaining visitors to our part of SoCal! read more

The service is really nice!! When ordering, the person at the register helped me and gave me recommendations as all I really wanted was an ice cream of some sorts. He told me the difference between their soft serve and dole whip and in the end I chose the pineapple and strawberry dole whip. As for sitting areas, there was none, but there was a table for us to stand there! read more
Cute concept but really poor execution. Strawberry shortcake was $7 for 2 small pieces of store bought vanilla cake and extremely reduced down saucy strawberries and whipped cream from a canister even though it is advertised as homemade. The best part was probably the whipped cream. Definitely not worth the price. Even if it were $4, I would not recommend this underwhelming cake. 2/5 Strawberry tiramisu. Man. Really disappointing. This is not tiramisu. No ladyfingers or fluffy cream. This was a dry layer cake with hard frosting. 1/5 read more

I love coming to the strawberry shack whenever I'm in the area! I am a sucker for soft serve and theirs is sooooo good! It's sweet in a subtle way and I love the combination of the strawbery vanilla swirl. My girlfriend gets the strawbery swirl dole whip and it's very good as well! The service is very fast! You place the order and wait off to the side for them to prepare it. It's on a busy street with lots of other shops around as well to walk around and enjoy your treat! I think it's quite cute that they play strawberry themed music as well. Very on brand! read more
I MEAAAANNNNNNN COME ON.... Best chocolate dipped strawberries. I feel like the price did go up a little. Will i go back? Yes. Not too sure if it was because valentines day was around the corner, but they came in pairs and in separate plastic containers. I felt like it was such a waste. Im sorry, but i think you could have just gone with the regular little bowl and stack them on there. I ordered 6 strawberries. I just felt like it was such unnecessary packaging in my opinion. Maybe instead of doing this the cashier could ask if we would want them separated or together that way theres less waste. Nonetheless, they were delicious. read more

We stopped on the way back home and I wish we had stopped sooner!! Fantastic customer service recommendations, friendly staff, clean, fast, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious!! This spot is so good!!! The best strawberry ice cream I've ever had!!! There's so much street parking around the spot and it's 4 blocks away from the water! The strawberry sundae was delicious!! You can really taste the freshness in every bite! It was so quick too I didn't have to wait too long to get my order. Strawberry-focused dessert spot in Carlsbad. There's a location in the flower fields as well. Came here on a Sunday post-lunch, and it was a short wait. Credit cards are accepted and there's street parking available. The location itself is a small shack where you order at one counter and pay, then pick up your food at the adjoining window. There's a Starbucks next to the shack in case you miss it. They're open during covid for takeout and you can purchase other shack-centered products there as well. All the menu offerings are focused on strawberries, which was a neat concept. Unfortunately the strawberry lavender sundae I ordered did not have any lavender jelly, so I effectively had a more expensive strawberry sundae. The custard tasted like a typical vanilla frozen yogurt from a university dining hall, and the dessert itself was pretty small (good for one person, not so much for splitting with others). The strawberries were sweet and had a thick syrup, and there were a couple of small chunks of Angel food cake in the sundae. The worker gave an option of adding whipped cream or not and was pretty quick about assembling it. Overall, I might have come on an off day, but I was underwhelmed by my order. read more

If you have a sweet tooth and love strawberry flavored things this place is for you! The strawberry shake was a 10/10 and so was the brownie sundae! The strawberry shortcake was underwhelming, nothing special about it. There is no seating, just walk up to the window and get your order taken. It can get packed during certain times of the day but the line goes by fast. Definitely worth a try! read more

WOW! Took a 35 min car ride and did not regret it from the first taste the Strawberry Shack offered. Several items on the menus peeked my interest and I had plenty of time to review because of there being no line on a Sunday!! Strawberries were extremely fresh and the homemade whipped cream was the perfect topping. The atmosphere that Carlsbad offered matched the delicious deserts and pleasant surprise that Starbucks was next door!! read more

Everything strawberry! We ordered a couple of things and absolutely loved everything. The owner was patience and very kind. She was working by herself, taking all the orders and preparing them. The shack is very cute and located on the street, next to Starbucks. There aren't many tables to enjoy the desserts, so we just took it back to the car. Overall, really delicious and cute place to visit if you are in Carlsbad. read more
Ambiance is super cute here it's a little shack and has all these adorable strawberry decorations. But the line was kinda longe when we arrived and it took a while to order our food. Unpopular opinion but I didn't really enjoy the strawberry shortcake. It tasted artificial to me but my boyfriend liked it! I really loved the chocolate covered strawberries, but the price point was pretty steep. I would get the chocolate covered strawberries again though! read more

It's okay not a big deal only think I felt was worth it was the strawberry custard cone. The strawberry berry shortcake was basic something I could have done at home, maybe it custard ice cream was added on top it be better, the presentation of it was not great. read more

Only for strawberry lovers. If you're looking for crazy out of the box flavors, don't come here, Handel's is where you want to go. If you want gelato, go to Gaia Gelato. This here my friend is for people who love strawberries and don't mind it being the only and center of attention flavor. This is strawberry tunnel vision! For me, I love fruity ice cream over chocolate or anything else. A good ole fashion strawberry and vanilla ice cream or custard is my type of perfect dessert. It may not be for everyone, but if you know you love fresh strawberry come here. And yes they use real strawberries, I saw it delivered. The only thing I wish they would do is top each custard or ice cream with sprinkles of strawberry bites! Yum! read more

It was rich, creamy, and delicious! You can't go wrong with it anything strawberry! The best part about this place is that it's a few blocks from the beach and makes a wonderful place for desserts! It's kind of overhyped, but it is a cute little shack. Although some of the items are a bit pricey, they are tasty. I feel like you can make most of it at home. Definitely the strawberry shortcake is a little too plain.. coming from a sweet tooth, but it is good! Strawberries are fresh for sure. Would I recommend, sure why not it's cute, IG worthy haha it's like a once in a while treat for yourself to go there get some really good strawberry stuff and take photos. Such a cute little spot in Carlsbad.. definitely a hidden gem and the perfect place to grab a treat after dinner or for a mid day break. We had the strawberryice cream bar covered in chocolate and a 2 pack of their chocolate covered strawberries. Can't wait to try more! read more

Love love love this little place! Been here a couple times and it's absolutely adorable. The first time I visited, I got their Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Both tasted extremely fresh and delicious. This time around, I got to try their Strawberry Dole Whip and their Strawberry Shake. It was the first time I ever had strawberry dole whip and it was delicious! The strawberry shake was okay. It was a bit too creamy for my taste, but I still drank it all. read more

This cute little stand is so good, right by the beach so you can grab some ice cream on your walk on the beach, strawberries are wild, from ice cream to shakes to chocolate dipped. Everything is delicious and super tasty. I had the strawberry swirl custard on the cone, and grabbed a box of 2 chocolate dipped strawberries. Great stuff, you won't be disappointed. read more

Tourist trap! Beware. I do not understand how this place has 4.5 stars. The brownies are overcooked boxed brownies. The whip cream on the shortcake is definitely cool whip and the shortcake is just run of mill angel food cake. The cookie was rock hard and super tiny. Where do I even start on the chocolate covered strawberries... the chocolate to strawberry ratio was something else. I might as well have bit into a brick of confection chocolate. If you love everything that's STRAWBERRIES- must check this spot out. It comes fresh from the strawberry farm itself. Quaint shack next to Sleeping Tiger Coffee. Lines may look long but the service is quick and efficient. Went on a Sunday and it was fine! Had the strawberry dole whip ( which is vegan). Delicious and perfect sharing size as well. read more
