Stray Dogs was such a good stop this morning. And if you know me, you know I love my coffee, so their strawberries and cream espresso latte made me really happy! The foam on top was divine, super creamy, and the strawberry flavor was actually perfect. The space is big and open with plenty of room to settle in. It was crowded when I arrived, but parking was easy and I found a spot right away. A solid coffee run and something I'd come back for. Love love love. read more

I've tried six specialty drinks so far: Another One, Greyhound, Corndog, Double Matcha, Strawberries & Cream, and Banana Pudding. My favorites are Banana Pudding, Double Matcha, Another One, and Corndog. I just switch it up depending on my mood for matcha or coffee If it's your first time trying matcha, I'd highly recommend the Banana Pudding. If you're in the mood for coffee, go for the Corndog unless you're not a fan of corn. In that case, I highly recommend Another One Last thing, the secret menu Corndog with matcha is SO amazing! It's the kind of coffee shop you can relax in and actually enjoy your drink. I tried the banana cream matcha and it was honestly one of the most creamy and delicious matchas I've had. Smooth, perfectly balanced, and not overpowering at all. Their pastries are also so cute and add to the charm of the place, even if you're just stopping in for a quick treat. The banana matcha is good and sweet, but barely tasted the matcha. Same with my daughter's drink, she said it was ok, can't really taste the matcha, she wasn't a big fan :/ . Not sure if their matcha is watered down or maybe a lower grade. Cupcake was ok. Service is great, gentlemen that took our food was sweet and nice. Stray dogs is one of the more unique coffee shops I've been too. It offers flavors that you don't always see anywhere else like melona cold foam matcha and seasonal flavors like rose, chocolate strawberry, and Japanese cheesecake. I enjoy that it is a spacious coffee shop with lots of seating, natural light, and dogs are welcomed Ofcourse. I've never had any issues with service and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Their matcha is one of my favorites in Riverside. My only complaint would be that parking can be hard to find and i do think the price is a little high for the size of drink (usually 9 something with oatmilk) However you can definitely taste the quality. read more

We came here on a Friday around 11am. Stray dogs is located on a pretty busy street but they have a small lot in the back. It was full when we arrived but we luckily found parking on the street. The place was clean with an open interior. It's pretty spacious and decorated nicely with cafe aesthetics but there were only a few tables and chairs. You can choose to sit on the couches in the back which is nice for larger parties. Service was good. The workers weren't nice but they weren't rude either so we were fine with that. We ordered the banana pudding matcha... one with oatmilk and one with almond milk. We also ordered a pistachio fancier. We would give both drinks a 7/10. It tasted mostly of banana and not much matcha. But, it had banana pieces which we liked. The fancier has a muffin/cake consistency and I would give it 8/10. read more

A great addition after nearly two decades of Starbucks enjoying a relative monopoly in this corner of downtown Riverside. As most independent cafés these days, they offer coffee roasted in medium and lighter, fruitier styles. Espresso or pour-over friendly, or even cold brew. The flavors are also fashion-forward and seasonal. I really enjoyed m cold latte with the sweet flavors reminiscent of a corn dog. It went down fast! The pound cake was a little dense and dry, but it did taste good. Like bittersweet chocolate. All-in-all, I'm a fan and could see myself hanging out on hot days ahead. read more

We were beyond excited upon arrival but that faded fast at the register. When we politely clarified how many drinks we were ordering, the cashier got defensive and actually raised his voice, not the welcome we expected. We decided to let it go and hung onto our excitement to finally try the coffee. Aesthetic new coffee shop in Riverside! Been here 2 times. They have stamp cards and lots of cute merch. Dog friendly of course with pup cups! Haven't tried the food but have tried their lattes. They're on the more expensive side ~$8, not too sweet so I like them! The coffee shop is on the lounder side/echoey. They play gospel/worship music only. Bathroom is clean, but no changing table. free wifi. About 5 outlets available. Lots of 2 person seats and a couch. My main feedback would be that the chairs here are really not customer friendly, no back support. The space is quite large and could be better utilized in terms of seating. Street parking is 2 hour limit. Parking lot in the back is 10 minute limit pickup only with some additional parking spaces with no restrictions. One thing I would note is that the social mission of this coffee shop is not obvious. While they advertise supporting stray dogs it is unclear to me how they do so - even after looking on their website and insta. If the coffee shop donates a portion of their proceedings I think it would be good to know as a customer how we are contributing - just a suggestion. read more

We love trying new and local coffee shops and were super excited to add this one to our list. I was really surprised at how much space they had inside! There was plenty of tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your drinks & treats, as well as a more lounge-y area where you can relax! The woman at the front was super knowledgeable and helpful about describing the menu and the different things in each drink. We love carrot cake and hardly see it anymore so we were pretty excited to try it! Both the drinks were also pretty good!! I really enjoyed the sweetness and cinnamon flavors in the Another One. My boyfriend was not too fond of the Kyoto Cold Brew -- but he was trying something new, so it was really his personal preference and nothing with the coffee itself. The lattes: I am ranking this coffee shop a solid 8/10 when it comes to flavors The drinks are very delicious but very very on the sweet side. I personally prefer to have a more coffee forward latte but it was still a great flavor. Favorite was the Sakura Latte! We also tried a Greyhound Latte and a regular Vanilla Latte. The cream top or cold foam is very watery which was unexpected but very flavorful. Ambiance: Ample seating spaces and so beautiful. I did not stay for long but it looks like an amazing space to study. Drink prices: specialty latte is $8 plus $1 for alternative milk for a 16oz latte - is it justifiable? You tell me. I've been hearing good things about this place for a while. I finally got the chance to try it! It's located on the edge of DTR and next to other small businesses. There is a small parking lot behind these businesses. There is also street parking available right in front. There is a sign outside, announcing their matcha and coffee. When walking in, I saw there was alot of people sitting and working on their laptops. This seems to be the spot for that. There is a lot of natural lighting inside and it looks clean and contemporary. They have items for sale like hats, candles, and bowls on the wooden tower. There is also a rack of clothing and bags for sale as well. There was only one other person in line when I arrived. They have paper menus available and main menu on the wall. When it was my turn at the counter, the barista let me know to ask if I had any questions. I asked about the banana matcha, since I didn't see it on the menu at first. He let me know it was still available. He asked if I wanted cold foam and what type of milk. I got that and saw the pastry shelf. They have mostly cupcakes and not GF. I got the matcha Japanese cupcake. I saw at one of the wooden tables while waiting. It did not take long, maybe 5 minutes? I took a sip. The banana did not overpower the matcha like in used to, but perfectly blended with it. It was so delicious. The cupcake was also very good. Will definitely come again! read more

I'm always down to support any place that is animal friendly. Walked in and someone had a cute and chubby dog so if you mind dogs at a food place, I wouldn't recommend coming here. It was pretty busy, but this place is pretty spacious with a lot of tables and lots of seating. Their menu is creative and they make their own syrups in house. Tried the iced Greyhound which is earl gray honey in a latte with a vanilla foam. It's tasty, but the earl gray dominates the coffee so it felt more like a tea latte with a splash of coffee. Also tried the Texas Roadhouse latte. It's a honey latte with a cinnamon butter cold foam. The honey latte was what you'd expect, but the foam made it way better. It was cinnamony and creamy. I do have one recommendation for the owners, though. They have a giant container for people to grab their own straws. These are pretty tightly packed and are not individually wrapped so there's no way to grab one without touching a few. I tried. I would say get individually wrapped ones if they're going to do that. Wow... I'm not going to lie, I didn't have high expectations! Sometimes I find the espresso at mom and pops to be bitter so I went in hoping for the best but expecting the worst lol but this was delicious! I was having a rough WEEK and decided since I was in the area to pop in and get a treat to hopefully make me feel a little better. I got the "Another One", you can't really go wrong with cinnamon or vanilla right? And this hit the spot! Definitely perked up my day it's not too sweet and the barista who rang me up told me they use teal cinnamon sticks which I think is a nice touch! Speaking of service, excellent! The cashier was extremely friendly and my drink came out very quick despite not being the only person there waiting... which sadly is also kind of rare at mom and pops! Lastly the ambiance - would be a great place to sit and catch up with a friend or study. They have tried to offer as much table space as possible for laptops and studying. It was pretty full for a Thursday afternoon but if you could snag a spot it could be great!
