Friday evening 3/6 my husband and I were driving up to Oakland from LA and about 20 mins before our destination our car said low coolant and immediately overheating. We got off the freeway and turn into a gas station and noticed a jiffy lube behind us, we called because it was about 5:55 and wanted to talk to someone before they closed at 6. Antonio stayed open for us to roll over after letting the car cool down. He said he smelled like a possible hose because he could smell coolant and see the cars under was wet. He allowed us to let our car stay until his mechanic came and could properly diagnose it. We didn't have a lot of faith because we only know jiffy lube as an oil change establishment but we also didn't have any other options. We needed to drive back home. We trusted the Castro team who called us with updates and were very transparent. We made it home and extremely pleased by the customer service we received. read more

They forgot to charge me, when I realized and came back to correct their mistake they notified me that they had called the cops on me. They then refused to call the cops back and correct the record, I told them I needed a receipt of course to prove to the cops I had paid, refused to give me a paper receipt and told me it would be emailed, they never got my email address so of course I never received the email receipt. Came in for an oil change and was able to use a discount coupon which saved me $15 I was advised that I can use a synthetic blend so I did. I also felt like the time I spent there was short, but had all my questions answered. I had a few to ask about other things that pertain to my car. Lucas helped me in understanding, and also helped me with another issue that I was concerned about regarding my vehicle. They also cleaned my front window, and opened my door for me when it was time to get out and pay which I thought was very kind. Don't know why this location has such bad reviews. Anthony has been the manager at least 7 months and runs the shop like a well oiled machine. We were greeted by Adam and he quickly got my car in the bay for service. He was pleasant and professional and his uniform well put together. Devin and Lukas were our main service guys. They were personable informative and their uniforms were well put together. When I presented a coupon he advised it was not valid but located one for me that I could use. I did not even have to ask. I watched the service through the window and saw precision work being done. Check and rechecks. My service was done in a reasonable amount of time and Check out was easy. Okay y'all...I hate to admit that I'm one of those women that know NOTHING about cars, but I am. *face palm* So a light came on in my car and I WAS SURE it was saying I needed water. I pull up to Jiffy Lube (they had changed my oil just days prior) and figured it was something as simple as my car needed water. So apparently the light meant I needed my oil changed (hahaha) but that couldn't have been the case because I just had it changed. So, stressed the hell out, I didnt know what the hell to do... (Insert Derrick here) This guy comes over to me, tells me he is going to look under the hood, figure out whats wrong. And I'll be damned. This unassuming, knowledgeable and very humble young man explains to me that my pan (whatever the hell that is) is cracked. He took a picture of it, sent it to me, the whole nine. He tells me EXACTLY what it needs to be fixed and I'm like this man is speaking another language. He didn't have the parts needed so he called someone else and had someone get them while I waited! THAT MY FRIENDS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE! Then, it took like 10 minutes to get what was needed and this man proceeded to explain that the pan was cracked and leaking copious amounts of oil. Then he told and showed me how he was going to fix it. After he fixed it he told me the reason he took/takes such good care of his customers (especially the ladies) because he wouldn't want someone to take advantage of his mother or any other important women in his life that had no knowledge of vehicles. Derrick is unlike any mechanic I have ever met. He isn't about the almighty dollar, he is about your safety and I knew it yesterday when I met him. Yelp friends (especially Elite) please stop by and see Derrick here in Castro Valley. He is here 6 days a week until 6pm and tell him MONIKA SENT YOU! He knows who I am after all the questions I had for him! Hahahaha. He is the very unassuming young man with all the tattoos and great smile! I have a company car so the process of getting an oil change is a bit different. I originally went to meineke to get an oil change and had the absolute worst experience (I'll save the details for their review). Jiffy Lube was decent. A friendly worker greeted me at my car when I was getting out and asked how he could help. After stating I needed an oil change he immediately took my keys and brought my car into the service area. It's not the most comfortable waiting area as there were only chairs and water. Adding a keurig like some other shops would make it more cozy. The whole process took a little over an hour even though I was the first one there. I think it took so long because they're short-staffed. Overall, an OK spot to get an oil change. read more

After driving in I was asked if I had been here before and I had been probably twice. Their computer did not show the service, but not an issue. They proceeded to start the process and the tech whom I spoke with was friendly and explained what they were doing. They were out of stock on my air filter but said they could have it in 15 minutes if I would like to wait. And it was there in 15 minutes. They also mentioned the plastic guard under my car in the front had come loose. I knew that but had no idea what to do about it. Well they reattached the guard at no cost. I also had a discount coupon, which I printed the incorrect one, but still gave me a discount even though I did not have the correct one. Excellent service and very friendly folks. Just finished getting my oil changed here and it was an awful experience to say the least. I pull up around 5pm (google says they close at 6pm) to get a quick oil change. When I first initially pull up, there is a group of employees and two of their friends standing around a white F-150. I'm waiting to be directed into a stall but they're all just staring at me like a deer in headlights for a while. I kept creeping forward to hopefully indicate that I was attempting to be helped. Eventually, one employee, Angel, indicated for me to pull into the first stall. Due to the truck being so large and having crept up some already, the turn was quite difficult to make without having to adjust a few times. During one of my adjustments, I had backed up slowly towards the F-150, at which time, the assumed driver of the vehicle and friend of the employees came towards my car all agro freaking out that I was going to hit his truck. I had plenty of space (visually I saw there was space and my backup camera hadn't even started beeping yet). I exclaimed that there was enough space and to chill out. One employee, Israel, had to tell this man to chill out too because he got so bent. After this quick altercation, all the employees and friends had a little giggle at the situation which I thought was weird. Obviously displeased, I debated but proceeded with the oil change. Once stopped in the stall, Angel requested I get out from my car and enter in some of my information into their system. I began to follow him but then realized he walked passed the computer and back to his friends. They talked for a few seconds while I waited kinda confused and then he returned. He left me at the computer to enter my information and then returned again. The actual oil change went fine. Was super quick. But as I was waiting in my car, I noticed that their friends were drinking Modelo's on the property at the truck. This is when everything clicked. The agro behavior and the odd giggling. The friend was most likely intoxicated which made me question the sobriety of the employees. Once my oil change was done and I was all paid up, I asked Angel for a manager contact. He asked me why I wanted that and if anything happened. I told him I did not appreciate the behavior of his friends. He stated that his friend most likely meant no harm by his actions. I stated that his friend probably would have never felt comfortable doing that if I wasn't a woman and that it was rude. Angel said that it didn't matter if I was a man or a woman. I asked again for the manager contact (I just want to clarify that I spoke in a soft but stern tone this whole time attempting to not be disrespectful but also assert my concerns). Angel stated that he couldn't find his manager's contact but that I could call in. I then asked him for his managers name and he stated Israel (or Luke if Israel isn't in). I thought that was interesting, because Israel was there the whole time. Overall horrible experience. I've been coming to this Jiffy Lube ever since I've had a car. My family has been going here for forever as well. This experience pushed us to all find somewhere else to go from here on out. Really disappointing. read more

I used to take my cars to this Jiffy Lube for service pre pandemic. I would take my cars (3) annually since I drive little. People were friendly, service was great and the waiting room was clean and had free coffee. A couple of months ago I took in my Lexus and this place went from 5 star to 1 star. The guys changing the oil left greasy foot prints on my light colored carpeting, they took 45 minutes to do the job, even with 3 guys were around the car and I asked for them to rotate the tires for $29. After the oil was changed, , one skinny guy said they couldn't do it because the lift wasn't working. A month later I am looking under the car and noticed the mud shield was hanging down. Under the engine bay of the Lexus is a plastic mud shield, and the oil guy did not put back the plastic clips to hold it in place. I just got a save $10 off Signature Oil change in the mail for my Lexus. I ripped the postcard up and wrote this Yelp review. I feel better. read more

I just had my oil changed and I was watching them and noticed the mechanic having problems trying to remove the motor pan under my 2017 Honda Civic So he just bent it down to access the oil filter usually they unbolt it and remove it now I'm starting to get really upset! but that's nothing compared to what they did next!!!. Then they vacuumed my car I never had that done before I didn't think much of it until I looked in and seen a huge stain on my light gray seat in the back it was a oil stain from the hose of the vacuum with a hand print in the middle of it!!!!! I'm furious. the manager said he would clean it I said no way how are you going to clean it he gave me no answer so I told him I want it done by a professional so he got on the phone to call his boss and they said they would go get the proper chemicals and do it themselves... Van went in for a routine oil change and came out with a broken motor ( discovered after taking it to a highly recommended Auto Repair shop) After driving off- we noticed & loud roar & putter coming from under the hood.- took it back the next day & the technician who worked on it took a look at it for about 10 mins, but couldn't figure out what was going on- claimed everything was back in it's place. Took down my info so the manager can call me because he/she/it /they were the only person who can help me. 1 week later, no ones has called me from Jiffy Lube- DONT TAKE YOUR CAR here!!!! Should have left when they advised they were out of high engine oil. What oil changing company runs out of oil! They offered me synthetic at a large discount so I accepted. Received my invoice and showed fluids topped, lights checked, car vacuumed, windows washed and tire pressure checked. The only thing that was done was the overinflation of one of my tires. The sensor warning came on while driving on the freeway. Was suppose to be set at 30 but it was inflated to 50. Easily could have caused a blowout. Website also states free coffee, television and WiFi. None of these are available. Hopefully I received the oil I purchase because nothing else was accurate. Sadly I would not recommend the jiffy lube. read more

DONT COME HERE, THEY STEAL!! I came here to get an oil change and right before handling my keys I left my GoPro Hero 5 on the gloves box and locked it. Once they were finished with the oil change, I got in my car and noticed that the glove box was unlocked and to my surprise my GoPro was gone. I couldn't believe the audacity of these people who thought they could steal such an expensive piece of equipment and I wouldn't notice. There were only 2 employees working there including the manager who wasn't willing to help (clearly he was involved) so I called the police and I called their corporate office who have opened an internal investigation, they'll go through their security cameras, etc. This has never happened before, but I'll certainty press legal charges against that employee once the investigation has concluded. read more

Unfortunately my experience sucked...! I took my car for an oil change. The price was fair $75, they changed my oil, top my fluids and vacuum the inside. After they were done , I drove home and everything seemed fine. The next day after arriving home from work I smelled an odor of oil burning, then I noticed my driveway full of oil. I looked underneath my car and it was COVERED in oil. After some work I noticed that the oil was coming from the oil filter that had just been replaced. They forgot to place an oil gasket and tighten the filter all the way. I took my car back to Jiffy Lube and they fixed the issue. I requested a refund since I had to clean the bottom of my car and clean my driveway. They refused to give me a refund and only offered me a free oil change on my next visit. Came 3 different times on the same day (Saturday) due to their poor communication skills. 1st time: Told it would be a 45 min wait because they were busy. I asked if they could do a simple vehicle inspection check that u needed done for one my companies, the guy refused and was rude about it. Wtf. I'm not asking you to go under the hood (which ironically you have to do ANYHOW), I'm just asking to sign off that the vehicle is definitely in working condition. It literally takes under 2 minutes. So I left to go home because I was gonna find another place to go, but decided instead to grab my earphones that I forgot and return since it's down the street. 2nd time: A different guy comes and says it's gonna be a 45 minute wait. Ummm, the last guy said that 10 to 15 prior when I came the first time, and right now there's only one or two cars in the bay so how can it now take an ADDITIONAL 45 min?? Then he says "We have to take a break since we have been working all morning with no break". I ask if they are understaffed. He says "Yes." I have a few issues with this. First, of course breaks are needed, but it was only around noon and they opened at 8 or 9am. It's not like they have been working the entire day so not sure why breaks are needed and Second, why must EVERYONE take a break at the same time??? There were like 3 employees there at least, why couldn't they do like normal companies with short staff and just take the breaks one at a time while the other two catch up on work of the other cars?? Customers would understand about the delayed times because of short staff, but closing all together in the middle of the freaking day??? UNACCEPTABLE. Third, there didn't seem to be any hustle or organization about these "breaks". The guy kept telling incoming cars about the break issue but he didn't put up any signs, nor did he close off the bays. So I'm not sure how that worked after I took off frustrated. 3rd time: At this point it's the middle of the day and I don't feel like driving around to another Jiffy Lube just to have to wait in another long line so I run some other local errands and come back about an hour later, where I FINALLY can get service since there's no line/all the other customers probably were fed up and didn't wanna wait. I asked about vacuuming the car and I was told it would get vacuumed and washed after the oil change. Well they did a half-a!#%_ job vacuuming, and the car was NOT washed. The windows weren't even cleaned. What a joke. The location is sort of awkward to get into due to the intersection, and you not being able to make a legal u-turn directly where it's at, but you'll figure it out lol. They need to hire better professional workers here, but hey at least they actually perform the BASIC work of doing the oil change. read more

I came in for an oil change, and by the time I decided the type of oil that I wanted and staff determined that the high mileage oil was not available at this location, my oil had been drained. The assistant manager, I believe his name is Luke, quickly remedied the situation. While I live in Oakland, and only occasionally go to Jiffy Lube in Castro Valley, I plan to make this my "go-to" place for a quick oil change. I will, of course be telling all my friends. I was not Terribly troubled by the mistske; mistakes happen. But the assistant manager went out of his way to make sure I was happy customer. Having worked in customer service all my life, I appreciate when someone goes the extra mile to keep the customer happy. Thank you! read more

I'd love to give a review of the service at this Jiffy Lube, but, they don't really seem to want to do any. My last three times there: 1st time: They didn't have an oil filter for a Dodge truck in stock. Dodge. Truck. They said to come back tomorrow. 2nd time: Went back the next day. No oil filters for a Dodge truck. Said to come back tomorrow. Went elsewhere. Avoided them for 2 years. 3rd time: Today. Website says they are open until 6:00. I left work early to get there (close to my house) hoping there wasn't a line. Arrived at 5:45. Not only no line - NO ONE in either bay. Completely empty. Two workers hanging out in the parking lot kicking it with a friend parked there. They said they couldn't take me because it would take more than 15 minutes to finish my truck and they were supposed to be mopping up by then anyway. If they took me, the computers would shut down at 6:00 and I'd be stuck. They said that with a straight face. I will remind you, the Jiffy Lube website says they are "open" until 6:00. Have a company vehicle That is part of a fleet mileage program..jiffy lube is on the list. Have been coming now for over a year and never had any issues. I do have to admit that it seems that there is a different team each visit however it's always been a positive experience. Recommendation would be to come before noon, weekday. read more

If anything, my most recent experience was even worse. The shop seemed disorganized and dirty. The coffee service had been remove in the waiting room. When I asked to have my spare tire topped off, I was told that corporate policy prevented it. What would have taken 60 seconds to perform ended up taking the time of three employees trying to explain to me that it was not their fault; it was Corporate's. (So much for safety concerns on the part of Corporate. ) When I paid my bill, I was told that oil changes were recommended every 4,000 miles for the synthetic blend that I had bought.
