This is one of those typical local coffee joints which has a good quality product but tends to attract a staff that focuses on everything except their customers. I have to say their breakfast burrito is one of the best I've had. But the surly attitudes of the staff do not make this a very welcoming environment. I get it... you're a young hipster (or an aging one). Smiling is lame, for like the straight world, man! (don't blame me, blame Courtney Love). The patchouli makes smiling nearly impossible. Or maybe your dreads are in our face obscuring your vision. Whatever it is that is making you scowl at me while I'm giving you money, I'm kind of over it. There is a big corporate coffee chain in town -- HQ in Seattle hint hint -- whatever you may have to say about their coffee or their business practices, they at least smile at me and make me feel like they want my business and appreciate my presence in their store. I have a suggestion for the management and staff of Strictly Organic: *FIELD TRIP!* I know your street cred might take a massive hit, but take a walk down Bond St., left on Franklin, quick right on Wall and you're there! It's a beautiful day in Central Oregon! Spend ten minutes watching the corporate drones interact with their customers, Mr. and Mrs. America. Take notes. Try it out. Maybe just a few minutes a day at first... don't need to jump right in all at once. But soon you will have mastered the art of the smile. And I might come back and buy some coffee from you. I quite like the coffee. Delicious actually. Love what they stand for & how much they give back to the community. Hate the prices. Seriously high. You really gotta be a local lover to make this a must stop. Also feel like the employees either need a raise or Valium to boost their personalities, every single time I come in they are so bland and awkward almost seemingly rude. One employee even commented on the tip I left him once. Saying "Oh you actually left me a tip."....just strange. Weird! Maybe they are on Valium already. That would explain the awkwardness. This spot probably would have been in the running for a five star review if the staff weren't so testy. When I came into the shop, having never ordered here before, with no one else in line, I walked right up to the counter. In the process of ordering my burrito the short tempered hostess became visibly impatient. Her eyes widened and she paused angrily when I needed to ask her to repeat the sentence she rushed through the first time. If I weren't immediately turned away from the place because of the short service staff, I would have been better positioned to enjoy the burrito and coffee which weren't half bad. It gets three stars because I'm sure on a different day it would be better, but my experience was lackluster. read more

Rode my bike over here from the hotel I'm staying at. There was plenty of bike "parking". Came in and was immediately greeted by the smell of coffee and a hello from the cashier. She was very friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be at work! Cool. I got a coffee to stay and a soy-sausage burrito. Coffee in a real mug? Love it. Real napkins? Love it. My favorite post-swim workout stop in Bend. Deliciously fragrant coffee, awesome not-too-sugary scones & muffins, and a decidedly authentic (read: non-chain) feel. The menu is pretty large for a coffeehouse, offering more than just baked goods and coffee drinks, and given the numbers of people that I see whenever I come by, it's a popular spot with the locals - or the visitors attempting to look local. Because it's located in that odd one-way street section near downtown, it's not easy to find if you're not familiar with Bend. Which may be a good thing. read more

I love this location. My fiancee and I first found the location in the old mill district a couple of years ago and were turned off by the service at the location. However, since we moved here and have been exploring town for other options we realized that we had never been to this one and may as well give it a try as we have been brewing their coffee at home for some time now. From the first visit we were not disappointed and have become regulars. When we do order coffee it is always on point and we have had quite a bit of the menu items as well. I'd actually like to give Strictly Organic 3.5 stars, but it's not possible. I recently visited Bend, and my friends and I did what we called a "roasting tour," where we tasted all the coffee from the local Bend coffee roasters. Strictly Organic was our first stop, since it was super close to where we were staying. I think the coffee here is pretty decent. It didn't wow me, but it held its own. I got the Sunnyside roast, which I found to be very mild but with a nice depth to it. My friend got a French roast and hated it, but I'm not a fan of French roast anyway. I tried the decaf on another occasion, and it was just ok. There were a couple of things I like about this place... First, the fact that they are so environmentally-conscious. Second, the fact that you can get free refills on coffee. Third, they have open mic night and things like that. I didn't try enough of the coffee to get a more complete opinion, but I'd say Backporch is significantly better. read more

Before I was diagnosed with food allergies I lived in Bend, and this particular location had so many yummy wraps/bagels/on-the-go foods. Le sigh. I miss them. Now I only come here for coffee when I'm in town visiting...Although this is not the BEST coffee I have ever had it is pretty good. They have rice milk, score. They don't charge extra for that rice milk, DOUBLE score. This location is conveniently located and is more spacious than other coffee shops in the area. This is one of my regular stops when I'm traveling through. Although the coffee is a darker roast than I prefer, it's decent. I love the location and the option to grab some yummy healthy food with my coffee. I had a bagel egg sandwich. With anticipation of eating my awesome hearty, toasted bagel, I bit into disappointment. My bagel was cold and not toasted. There's nothing worse than a stiff, dry, and cold wheat bagel. Next time I definitely will request for it to be toasty and warm. Other than that mishap, everything is usually consistent here. Will be back. read more

I met my mommy coffee crew at 10:30 am on a Tuesday morning and was surprised at how packed the place was! Since it was fairly cool, no one was out on the patio and appeared that everyone was trying to squeeze inside. It was worth the crowd. I had an Americano and a breakfast burrito in a wheat tortilla that was absolutely yummy. I loved the green salsa that was served with the burrito, as did my toddler. In fact, I was bummed when he ate half of it. Guess I'll have to order him his own next time. I'll be back there soon. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food quality was outstanding. I am a frequent customer of the Old Mill location since it is walking distance from my house.. BUT every now and then we visit this location to have the breakfast burritos, banana bread and buy our coffee beans for home. I love it! The breakfast is always so tasty and consistent. So I love that about this place. I've never had a bad interaction with staff unlike other reviewers have said. The other thing to note about this location is they have more variety when it comes to their take home coffee bean selection, than their Old Mill location. That's fine by me because I love having breakfast with the fam on the outside tables. Try the breakfast burrito (any!) with the green salsa! Mmmm... So good! read more

This place has great smooth espresso and I loved my vanilla latte so much that I'm back a second time before we head out today. We went to the downtown location at 6:10am. We were greeted by a cheerful cashier who helped guide us on our orders. I got the vegan breakfast burrito (black beans, tofu, onion, potatoes, and spicy salsa) and my honey got the basic breakfast burrito (eggs, potato, salsa, and the avocado I had them hold from my order). We both got coffee and bought a bagel and vegan banana bread slice for our road trip home the next day. The coffee was superb. Great coffee is hard to come by. Let alone the "perfect" cup. But, Strictly Organic served me the "perfect" cup of Joe not once, or twice... but the whole time I was in Bend. Served in a rather large ceramic mug, my coffee stayed hot and every sip was the best sip. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. The pastries are to die for, especially the scones. The outdoor seating area is a wonderful blend of locals and visitors alike. The coffee shop seems to fit very well in the neighborhood. Powerstrips line the seating area for you to plug in and hang out. Free Wi-Fi is just the icing on the cake! We ordered online and rolled up to the drive thru a few minutes before our order time. We waited in the drive-thru line for 15 minutes past the order time and hoped our burritos weren't getting cold. We weren't upset about this and never said anything to the staff. When we pulled up to the drive-thru window we told the cashier the name for the order and she said one second. Then out of nowhere a lady, we assume is the manager, stuck her head all the way out the drive-thru window, pulled her mask down, and started shouting asking if we wanted a scone or a cookie for the long wait. We were startled as she came out of nowhere and was speaking very quickly and aggressively. I asked if she could pull up her mask, and rolled up the window until she did so. I haven't seen the inside of someones mouth since Covid started last year. This was definitely not the re-entry into bottom half of someones face I desired (covid is still a thing at the time of this review). We ended up getting two free cookies with our breakfast burritos which was nice of them, but it could have been done much much safer. The cookies and the coffee were good, but the burritos were lacking. We got the bronco burrito and the classic breakfast burrito. The bronco burrito tasted like burnt hot mush with a dash of sour cream at the end. And while eating the classic breakfast burrito I tasted a crunch, spit it out, and found eggshells. Overall the experience was a mixed bag, might go back for a coffee someday but I definitely won't be eating their breakfast burritos again. read more

I used to park and walk in here, but after a really awful experience with one of their employees on a busy Saturday morning, I started going through the drive through window and have had only pleasant experiences going forward. A woman with dark hair was taking my order one Saturday inside, and I tried to pull out my customer card for points and she shoved her hand over the card reader and said "LET'S WAIT ON THAT..." even though I wanted to run it because I knew I had gathered enough points for a free drink that day! and then I accidentally used an old card to pay (I had forgotten to throw it out and it looks identical to my new card) and of course it didn't work, and she was UPSET by that. She said "THAT DIDN'T WORK! Oh my god" huffing and puffing. She was so loud and flustered, another, very kind employee, took over for her at the register and apologized to me profusely. I quietly tried to mention my free drink situation to the other employee, to which the rude employee tried butting in and saying "WHAT'S GOING ON? Move the line along!" She rolled her eyes and kept shaking her head in a fury. I let it go. I decided that I was done going inside and hoping not to run into that particular employee again. I get it was busy that day and it must've been an off day for her, so I let it slide. Now I use the drive through window and have only pleasant experiences! I will say they're a bit unorganized for as busy as they are and I don't really order food there anymore because it takes so long, but they do have some yummy vegan options available if you're looking for something with your coffee. Their food is good (not great), but the service isn't the best either. I'm not sure if a lot of the people working here don't get the proper training, but sometimes they're rude and very short. I always use the drive thru now and they have me wait in the parking lot for my order. It honestly shouldn't take 15 minutes to get a breakfast sandwich. They never apologize for the wait either, which they should as a service industry. With no doubt the worst coffee shop experience I have ever received. To start us off on our experience I ordered my usual vanilla latte with oat milk, initial smiles and fast service... but was that fake. I take one sip of my latte and I was gifted with quite the surprise. Expresso beans tasted absolutely burnt and the shot was clearly ran for too long leaving it a watered down BURNT consistency. So I was willing to give it another chance handing it to my coffee loving bestie, we'll... she spit that ish out!!! And agreeing that was the worst latte in our shared years of latte drinking. So hoping for a better experience I walk up to the counter ready to give a smile and ask politely if they'd take it back and just give me an ice tea or something to cleanse my poor palate. I stood there smiling saying politely "excuse me" to the 3 girls behind the counter and they all looked my exact way (they were 1 foot from my being) yet would never make eye contact... the girl even set down another coffee next mine I had set on the counter and was 3!!!!
