    Best Strings Cafe Salad
    Monika P.

I decided to bring my friend to Strings for lunch since she had never tried it before, and it did not disappoint. She was so impressed with the whole experience and completely fell in love with the bread (honestly, same ). The service was great as always, and the vibe is consistently just right. It's one of those spots you can count on every time.

Bruschetta Chicken - low carb option
    Kerry K.

Our server was very cheerful and checked on us regularly to refill our drinks and remove plates. Since I am on a low carb diet, I was very pleased they had items marked on the menu "low carb" and provided zoodles (spiral zucchini) as an option for pasta. I had the chicken bruschetta, which was a great proportion size, chicken was good and loved the balsamic, it was very heavy on the basil. Husband had the fettuccini Alfredo and stated the sauce wasn't that great. We have ate here before and he has always liked the Alfredo, just not today. As always the salad was delicious, I always love the addition of the raisins which gives a great sweetness. As always we will be back since it's one of the better affordable pasta options in the Lodi area.

This restaurant has been on my list to try for a little while. Decided to visit on a Saturday night. The restaurant is clean and well lit. The majority of customers were dining families. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. My order came with a salad, which I enjoyed. There was also bread included but no olive oil / balsamic to accompany it. I ended up trying the chicken picatta, which comes with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The mash potatoes were well seasoned. The broccoli was fine. I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of flavor and portion size of the chicken picatta. The chicken breast was small and perhaps needed more capers. The sauce covering it was bright yellow but had no flavor. My wife had the salmon pescattora which she enjoyed very much. In conclusion, Strings is a good casual dining restaurant for families and couples alike.

WARNING: DECEITFUL PRACTICES. First complaint, guy who took my name forgot to write it down. I noticed he sat three people before me then when i told him about it he apologized and sat us down. Fine. I ordered the pasta siena. I ordered it because I LOVE SUN DRIED TOMATOES in pasta, guess what you get FRESH TOMATOES. i told the waitress and she suggested "we can saute some sundried and give it to you on the side" So you do have it on stock but decided to replace the ingredient without notice to the customer. Sun dried is more expensive than roma tomatoes. Ambiance is nice tho. I cant believe they would deceive people with cheaper ingredients in hopes of someone not noticing.

    Lasagna and tortellini
    Deanna B.

I ordered Sunday dinner here through Door Dash. I had not enjoyed their food since they remodeled. I was pleased that at the time, they were offering a large percentage off before 6pm for their entrees. I decided to try the Lasagna and Tortellini combo with a cup of minestrone soup. The minestrone soup tasted great. Not salty and the perfect blend of vegetables and seasoning. However, the tortellini stole the show for me! It had a delightful cheesy sauce and along with the lasagna I was in italian dinner heaven! They also included some of their bread which was lightly toasted and seasoned. I most definitely want to dine in next time.

    Pepperoni Calzone!
    Dale S.

Got a craving for their peperoni calzone last night and I was shocked to see that I haven't updated this review in like 10 years! I can't believe how long I have been coming here. This place is a staple in Lodi. I loved the old Tuscan vibe of the resturaunt but the remodel is truely lovely; super sleek, clean and modern. If you have time, I suggest dining in as they are always generous with salad and bread but I always seem to be in a rush! My calzone was delicious as always, though it seems to be filled with less and less pepperoni over the years and for me to pay $17 for a take out calzone, you know it has to be good. I love their fresh marinara and the salty pepperoni and as long as they are open I will keep coming back here!

It's been a long while since i was at a String's. Based on the sunday night crowd they are popular. Busy but seated quickly by pleasant hostess. Greeted by our server Lyndsay who was pleasant and did a great job. Ordered chianti and breaking bud. they do have several wines and beers to select from. Reviewed menu and asked our server for reco and she said the shrimp scampi and salmon over angel hair was her favorite. So I ordered asked for some capers to be added. We also had beef tortalinni and we both enjoyed some fresh endless salad. It's so good. Rolls are garlicky and hot. Everything was fresh and good Didn't leave a crumb. Look forward to coming back and trying some other items.

I frequent this restaurant and have noticed a few changes over the years that make me believe it's no longer worth dining here. Most notably, there are menu changes without the menu actually being modified, there is no longer freshly grated parmesan (they will offer you parmesan cheese and bring out the same dried cheese shaker you expect to see at a pizza joint), less complimentary bread is given, and no offer of refills. The restaurant is beautiful and clean with decent service but it's evident things are going downhill. I will admit my party's food was good but we won't be back.

They have the best selections on their menu and the food is always great. The ambiance is awesome and their waiters and waitresses are wonderful. We tried the Crispy Artichoke Hearts and the Shrimp FRA Diavolo. Both were very delicious - We're hoping they willget added to the regular menu.

Out of this world. The breading was thin and crispy, and the dipping sauce was yummy. We had the catch of the day. It came with risotto that was perfectly seasoned and cheesy. My friend had the Parpadelle. She said it was prepared perfectly, and al dente just like she likes it. We definitely would return for some more spins around the menu. We made a brunch reservation for 11:30am, though we ended up ordering off the regular menu rather than brunch. That was the first odd note of the afternoon. Before the appetizers, they brought out focaccia with herbed butter, a nice alternative to the standard bread basket. The calamari appetizer with marinara and tartar sauce was fine, nothing memorable. My mom's eggplant parmesan arrived warm but not hot and cooled down quickly. The pizzas, a Funghi and a Margherita, were cooked well in the stone oven and were genuinely the best thing on the table, but they arrived warm and cooled down quickly, the same issue as my mom's eggplant parmesan. With the air conditioning blowing directly overhead, hot food didn't really stand a chance. The service is where things unraveled. When we were first seated, the manager came by and helped with my dad's walker, which was a nice touch. After that it went downhill. When my dad asked for something light, the waiter recommended the carbonara, a dish built on guanciale, grana, egg, and black pepper. That's not light by any definition. It's a basic gap in menu knowledge that does the guest a disservice. The menu also had salmon, ricotta toast, and eggs in purgatory. My dad also asked for red pepper flakes to go with his pizza and they took unusually long to arrive, so he had to flag down a different waiter to get them. The waiter noticed I was drinking my Bloody Mary slowly and offered a different version that actually tasted better. If there's a preferred version, lead with it. When I made eye contact to signal we were ready to pay, he acknowledged it but continued socializing with a coworker before finally coming over and taking my card, as if he was surprised we wanted to pay. When a customer is ready, they're ready. He took my card, asked if we wanted dessert, went to grab the dessert menu, then handed it back. Just hold onto the card. I'm paying with the same card regardless. Handing it back makes no sense. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spacious, with a full bar, outdoor seating, a small store at the entrance, and a vegetable garden out front. It's a great setting. Dinner service might be a different experience, but on this visit the dining room wasn't particularly full, which made it more noticeable that the staff prioritized socializing over the guests in front of them. For the record, the suggested tip on the receipt started at 18%. On the way out, two hostesses stood by and did nothing while my parents, one of whom was on a walker, made their way to the door on their own. Getting the door is common courtesy for the elderly. Pietro's has the ingredients of a great restaurant. The space is beautiful, the stone oven pizza is genuinely good, and the brunch menu has real potential. But a restaurant is only as good as its execution, and right now the service and the food temperatures are letting the kitchen down. They just need to meet it.

Bad: Their "Kobe" burger was $29 or so and was a good portion size. The problem? Lacking any kind of flavor or seasoning. The beef was flavorless. The stroganoff was a good portion size but again it was severely lacking in the seasoning department. Good: Those who ordered the corn soup and the porcini mushroom ravioli enjoyed them. They especially enjoyed the sauce from the ravioli. The desserts overall were enjoyed by the table. The sticky toffee pudding, while not as rich as we are used to, was still relatively good; soft and moist enough. The dark chocolate oblong with mango passion fruit was enjoyed by everyone too. The interior remains unchanged; like a classy London gastropub. Service: communication is key. Where they dropped the ball was that we mentioned on the reservation that we were there for Father's Day and prime rib, which they do on Sundays. As you walk in you even see the sign for the prime rib special. We sat down and the server mentioned that there was no prime rib this weekend. I had even chatted with them on the reservation app and they made no mention of this. We could have gone somewhere else had we known in advanced. Our server was relatively nice too.

The ambiance isn't anything beyond a basic deli without any of the frills or specialty touches. It's just plain and a bit worn. Primarily known for Italian food this is where it apparently shines. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Navigating the menu was a little awkward as everything seems customized, which is fine but takes a bit to figure it out. We ordered a meatball sandwich to share along with a bag of chips and two drinks. We had ordered a #6 which we were charged for, but didn't really get the supposed complimentary sides. No big deal. The meatball sandwich really didn't figure into that equation anyway. The sandwich made from scratch and warmed nicely with oozing mozzarella cheese was simply delicious. What impressed me most was it was not made with a red tomato sauce but rather a brown sauce. That's something one sees a lot in the Italian influenced communities in and around New Orleans. What's nice is the brown sauce doesn't overwhelm the tastiness of the meatballs which were plump and quite delicious. Have a lot of napkins as it gets messy. Overall it was a good experience. I was literally looking for our waitress to complain as our food was coming out the door. As for the potatoes, my wife and I both thought they were average, and not worth the steep price...for fried potatoes. Now for the pizzas. Both my wife and I were happy with the pizzas. Both were tasty and cooked with the wood fired method I love. I was not the biggest fan of the crust, I'm a crust snob, and while the texture of this crust was great, the flavor was lacking. Again, overall, pretty good, despite the early slow service. But if I'm driving for pizza, I'm heading to Pizza Norcia.

My friend has never had the deviled eggs before and pleasantly surprised and delighted that the eggs were absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. Our server, Lacy, was friendly, attentive, and witty - easily one of the best servers we've had in a while. For drinks, I had a local Oak Farm red wine that was excellent. Others in our group had mimosas, which were well received... especially the grapefruit mimosa, which my partner really enjoyed. For food, there were several highlights. My partner had the chicken and waffles and loved it; I tried some and would agree it was very good. Another person in our group ordered the steak breakfast tacos, which came as a set of three. They only ate two, and I had the third and it was delicious and something I would recommend. Another in our group had the eggs Benedict and thought it was excellent. I had the biscuits and gravy with fried eggs. It was okay, but not something I would go out of my way to order again. In terms of value, prices felt consistent with the quality of the food, service, and overall setting. It's not a budget brunch spot, but it feels appropriate for the experience. Overall, it was a really enjoyable Easter brunch with great service, a comfortable and well-designed interior, and several strong menu items. I'd rate it a 4 out of 5, though if half-points were an option, this would land closer to a 4.5. We'd definitely come back.
