Exhausted after a long travel day, we decided not to eat at our hotel but rather venture out to see what restaurants this cute town had to offer. We made reservations on Open table here and we were so pleased we made a great choice. We both ordered a glass of white wine. I ordered a combination which included a choice of soup or salad and a smaller portion entrée. I ordered their house salad which was excellent and chicken Parmesan. The entrée came with rigatoni noodles and the sauce was spectacular. The chicken was also very moist. Tom ordered seafood fettuccine and the same house salad. The seafood fettuccine had scallops and shrimp and the sauce was very tasty and thinner ( which he and I both prefer. I usually look at the dessert menu before I order side on whether I would prefer dessert over an appetizer. I was full but still wanted to try a dessert. I had A strawberry biscotti dessert which included a scoop of white chocolate gelato a couple of strawberries and whip cream with biscotti crumbs on top. The dessert was OK Only two or three strawberries sliced in half and too much whip cream and only a tiny scoop of gelato. Tom ordered the bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream With rum sauce.He said it was fantastic. We would definitely return to this restaurant and recommend it. We ordered chicken risotto, kids chicken spaghetti and kids pizza. Kids pizza was quite average, rest was good. Service needs considerable improvement. We were trying to catch attention of our waitress all the time! She didn't ask kids for their choice of soda or ice cream ( complementary with their meals). We hadn't noticed, ofcourse our kids remembered that their meal included these items. It took so many reminders that our kids finally let go of the soda and just finished ice creams ( which came at least 15 min after finishing their meals). Won't recommend. read more

Saw this place on Yelp while browsing. I don't think they are use to seeing black people because everyone looked shocked when we walked in. The waitress was very nice and we was seated immediately. The table was clearly wiped with a dirty rag because it smelled like old mop water. I went to the restroom to find some bleach cleaner and used that to clean our table. The water was the best thing here! Wish I could have gotten a refill. Pasta didn't taste like anything but Tabasco in some artificial sauce. It barley even had chicken in the dish mostly just mushrooms and tomatoes. The scampi taste like boiled seafood in slight lemon water sauce. They don't use seasonings on anything. read more

My boyfriend and I first came here for my birthday this year after shopping at the outlets in Livermore and I'm glad that we did. Having Dolores as out server was a treat, we truly enjoyed our time here. The restaurant is classy, yet cozy. The food and wine were exceptional. The garlic shrimp crostini appetizer is a MUST. This past month I have been here twice. 2/7/18. I love the combo menu - choose a salad from a list of 5 and a half order of several pasta dishes for $13.99. I have had the seafood pasta and muscle pasta. The Pasta was tender and prepared well. Good service and knowledgeable and friendly staff. I pass Strizzi's at least two times a week and I never think to stop in. Many years ago I did dine at this location - it leaves me feeling cold and the temperature of lighting is unappealing. The granite table tops add and the food didn't impress. The space still feels cold but the food is pretty yummy. So now when I drive by I remember the delish pasta I had there on the corner of Main and St. Mary. The outdoor seating is a great perch for people and dog watching too! read more

My latest experience was mixed from the start and ended on a very sour note. The bread was cold but soft. The waitress offered us free soup or salad with the larger entrees for dining early so we opted for those entrees. Soup was fine but the salad was overdressed. The entree came out during our first course and one of the entrees had a hair in it! My dining partner found it after a few bites and lost her appetite. My entree was tasty but had almost no meat in the bolognese sauce. They comp'ed me for the entree with the hair but failed to provide the other discount that was emailed to me for my anniversary and that the waitress agreed to apply to our bill when we ordered. I reminded her about the discount and gave her my credit card. She disappeared for a long time (in a fairly empty restaurant) causing us to be late for our next appointment. She reappeared only to tell us with an attitude that she could not honor the discount emailed to me since they were comp'ing us for the hair in the meal. Already late, I just paid and left. I normally add most of my discounts to the waitress' tip. So financially it made little difference to me. Sad this place has been getting worse over the years. We won't return again because of the food quality including HAIR, the attitude, the ridiculously long wait for the check and refusal to apply promised discount.... There are plenty of better Italian restaurants nearby. read more

We found our way here an hour before closing time on a Saturday night and it was pleasantly calm with only a few other parties around. We had one dinner delivered using a 3rd party. The order was simple one piece of grilled salmon and some soup. The main entree arrived and it looked like war took place in the package. We called the restaurant to inform them of our disappointment and the manager blamed the delivery driver. We suggested they pack each item on the dinner plate separately, to avoid delivering a messy product. We decided to try Strizzi's for the Tri-Valley tasting week. We enjoyed a lovely meal. There was two in our party for the $40 prefix dinner. Their wine was 50% off that night. Had a crispy wedge salad with pancetta and peppercorn ranch, and a berry salad with a honey mustard dressing. The berries were full of flavor. For our second course one of us chose the linguine and clams with pancetta, although the clams were very small they were full of flavor very tasty sauce linguine was cooked to perfection. The chicken cacciatore was delightful. The chicken was thinly sliced moist and tender, the red sauce full of mushrooms and red bell peppers was tasty,and the spaghetti was cooked perfectly. We ended the dinner with homemade bread pudding and caramel sauce. I came here for a quick lunch with a few of my friends I was meeting for a long time. This place is a chain restaurant that I've seen a couple times and thought why not try this place out. This was also in downtown Pleasanton which was pretty cute. I ended up ordering the lunch special of alfredo pasta with chicken which also came with a choice of soup or salad. I chose to get the soup and got clam chowder. The soup was really good but the pasta not so much. The chicken tasted like frozen cut up chicken that was heated. However I'm giving stars for the nice customer service and giant portions of food. I also tried the tiramisu which wasn't bad. We are regulars to this great Italian restaurant! The food is great, service exceptional, and the ambiance is welcoming, with great old enlarged family photos gracing the wall. We've sat at the counter watching the action in the kitchen, and at other times we've had tables put together for larger groups. Got a free dessert for a birthday celebration last time, and all our desserts were fresh and delightful--my faves are the raspberry sorbet and the bread pudding. One friend requested gluten free food, and the waiter double checked everything so it was safe. Yay! I recommend the pasta with pesto and chicken, and their wonderful Minestrone soup. Got that soup to go for the first time recently, and was able to get a bowl, spoon, and bread and butter to go with it. Wow! Staff is efficient and caring. So, pasta (including gluten free penne) and sauces are delicious- if you are Italian, your grandma made pasta like this. Oh my goodness good. Went to Strizzis Pleasanton last week. Got there at ~7:30. Asked to sit at one of the open tables near the front door. We were denied because they were closing soon...8:30... and they didn't want to reclean the area. We were sat RIGHT NEXT to two tables full of patrons. We moved ourselves. (Covid) *Ordered wine and a beer. Both were wrong. *ordered crispy Brussels sprouts.Soggy ,steamed sprouts soaked in over the counter teriyaki sauce. * our entrees we're pretty good. More like we're used to in Livermore. *waitress stopped by several times to ask how everything was while holding arm loads of dirty dishes in our face. *Tab came to $85.85. Waitress didn't include the change from or $100 bill. .15 cents is nothing, but don't decide to keep it instead of putting it with the bills. I DD from here for the first time. I ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta and garlic bread... Never again! First off it was $28 for the pasta and I kid you NOT, it was a kids menu portion. The chicken had no flavor and tasted like they just boiled chicken and threw it in there and super dry. The garlic bread was very stale and really no garlic in it. I would have loved to have loved Strizzis. It has a casual home style atmosphere and was packed on a Saturday night. We had reservations. Our table was ready but our server was not. Took forever to address us. Each request took far too long - water, order, food, dessert menus, the check, boxes. The ice cream and sorbet we ordered was melting by the time we got it. Took 2 and a half hours for pasta and dessert. The food didn't make up for the service. I ordered the light meal which is salad and smaller portion of pasta. The salad came drenched in dressing. I ate a couple bites and left it. The server did not check in or ask about it, though it was a full plate when she cleared it. The pastas we ordered were mediocre. Great food. Faulty service. I didn't get what I ordered. At first it seemed generous that they comped my wine, ostensibly to make up for accepting a different meal than what I ordered. But it turns out they charged me MORE for the plate they brought me than the one I ordered! And then I found out wine was half off tonight with food purchase. And the did charge for one wine! We went away grateful for yummy food, but also feeling a little like maybe we'll go somewhere else next time. We know other places where good food and trustworthy service go together and the restaurant owns up to its mistakes. That would help us be able to go home feeling satisfied. read more

My Fave restaurant since before I got married and used to dine here with my colleagues. We moved and now we are back living in Tri Valley again after 10 years, and I took my kids there for the first time, they instantly loved it. What happened to Strizzi's? I have been coming to Strizzi's Pleasanton for over 30 years. I have always loved their food, good variety, consistent cooking and some wonderful special depending on the season. My favorite has always been the Rigatoni Bolognaise. Tonight I ordered it to go and not sure what I got but it wasn't their RB I have been ordering for YEARS. Half size of their usual pasta portion and NOT the generous portion of meaty thick red sauce. Darn! It was a watery pale pink sauce and not much on the half portion of pasta. Did someone forget the red wine in the sauce, the two other kinds of meat? Darn darn darn! I hate to see this happen to a long time great restaurant. So sorry! Hope they are able get back the consistent great quality and taste they had for decades!!! read more

Sorry, but I've gotta put this one at two stars. The ambiance is nice, the wait staff attentive, and the inside is small and quaint. But that can't overcome meh food. Usually, an Italian restaurant is a haven for vegetarians. This one, not so much. Many of the salads have meat in them. My wife had one of the veg. options (side portion, $8) and a bowl of tomato bisque ($7). A bit steep for quality and quantity. This appears to be a recent increase as older menu pictures on Yelp have soups and salads as $5/each which would have been a reasonable price. I chose the one vegetarian pasta dish that I could find that wasn't listed a something full of cheese or covered in a cream sauce: Penne Pomodori ($15). The quantity for price was good, but the quality wasn't where I expected. This was penne pasta tossed in a pan with a few cut up tomatoes and a thin tomato sauce. I've never needed to salt a pasta dish before. I ate it because it was late, I was hungry, and I wasn't going to send it back because it was as described on the menu, it just could have been so much more. In the end, we probably won't be back. There are too many other Italian restaurants in downtown Pleasanton to try. If they are all of similar quality, quantity, and price then I guess I'm not eating Italian food in Pleasanton. read more

Celebrated my birthday at this terrific restaurant cause I was in the mood for some good homestyle Italian food! The service, the location, outdoor seating, was just perfect along with the fettuccine with pesto and spaghetti and homemade meatballs. To top it off probably the best tiramisu we've ever eaten. I guess we were there on an off night. My wife enjoyed her ravioli tho. I got chicken Parmesan. It was like a salt bomb. And the last that came with it had like a weird cream sauce that wasn't warm. This might have been ok had the menu told you that it had cream sauce....but the menu literally just say Chicken Parmesan 23 dollars. We ordered a kids pizza for my son and I swear it was the frozen Digiorno single serving cheese pizza I make him for lunch sometimes. Just felt a little rough for 60 bucks worth of food. Left a good tip anyway cause hey everyone deserves to get paid right now. The guy beside us only left a five dollar tip. Don't be that guy. read more
