I have a 2013 Audi Q5 and Strom is always great with my car. They're incredibly knowledgeable and their mechanics are top notch. The management is also very friendly and accommodating. I've used these guys for a few years now, on BMW and Audi products. They are great. On my first visit, I had a headlight out. On the BMW335, it's an expensive replacement. They called me midday to say it was just a loose wire and, best of all, no charge! That sort of honesty is lacking in the auto repair business (and has been that way for decades). I was looking to get a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) to buy a Audi sports car from a dealer in Costa Meas, CA, but I don't live in the area and I didn't want to necessarily use the place the dealer was recommending. I called Curly at Griffen Motorwerke (Berkeley, CA), my favorite auto repair place in the east bay who I've been going to for over 20 years and he called me back with the website for Strom German Auto Service. I checked out their website and the one that the dealer recommended, and called them both. Brad at Strom German said it would cost two hours labor at $180.00 per hour for a total of $360.00. The other place would cost $325.00. After talking with Brad about how thorough the inspection would be, and because they could check out the Audi one day earlier, I decided to go with Strom German even though it was $35.00 more. I had the dealer bring in the car on Tuesday April 22, 2025. The report I got a few hours later was very detailed 28-page long PDF, that covered 40 items including a search for fault codes and items like from warning lights, AC, all windows, exterior and interior lights, belts and pulleys, engine oil, transmission and drive train, suspensions arms, tires and wheels, brakes and rotors, radiator, battery, fuel cap, filters, fluids, oxygen sensors, motor mounts etc.! Each item that was checked had a green check mark and the item printed. Areas of concern had a light-yellow bar going through the item, and areas of concern had a light-red bar. This was covered in pages two and three. Pages four - twelve covered all the various fault codes and their number like satellite radio function, sound system, steering column, airbag crash sensors, ABS brakes etc. Pages 13 - 28 had photos of the above-mentioned areas of concern and just general items. For example, small rock chips in the windshield were photographed as were each tire to show the amount of thread left. Areas with visible with leaks, corrosion and rust were also photographed as were brake pads, swing arms undercarriage, boots etc. After I talked to John about his concerns, solutions and expected costs. Then went I drove over to Griffen Motowerke and talked to the owner, Curly, and showed him the report from Strom German, and he agreed with their assessment and with this in mind I called the car dealer and told him about the findings and there would be an additional $500.00 of labor to determine if there was a power steering rack leak, fix a botched oil drain plug issue and for a recommended steam clean to kill any salt corrosion. This was paid for by the dealer, and the drain plug was replaced and the possible power steering fluid leak was determined to be from brake fluid being leaked during a brake fluid flush by the last place that worked on the car. I found the crew at Strom German to be very knowledgeable polite and accommodating! I was very pleased with their service and attention to detail and fair pricing, and I would definitely use them again for any inspections on German vehicles in the Costa Mesa area!!! My only regret was I didn't have the opportunity to drive over and meet them in person! read more

Top notch service! After having my 2017 Audi Q7 taken care at Strom today, I am ecstatic to find an auto service that I can trust to deliver. Earlier in the week I had the routine service at the dealership completed (it was my last service of the package), there were some items that they recommended and when I saw the cost, it made me wonder if there was another alternative and if required now or later. On top of the price shock, it was the subpar customer service (i.e. long response time, zero engagement, slow updates) that contributed to my angst towards the dealership . So to Yelp I went to find a local auto service and found Strom, read the reviews and called to inquire about the recommended services. Jack answered the phone and was very friendly and informative; he was responsive to my questions and provided a quote at a quick turn time. I had additional questions and he was great with his responses and informative. During this time I was also dealing with the dealership as I had dropped my car off and couldn't get an answer when my car would be ready for pick up. So the experience between the dealership and Strom was a complete 180. Jack was able to fit me in today (Friday) and this morning I met John in the office and he walked me through the cost, confirmed the completion time (was consistent with what Jack told me) and it was an easy process, didn't feel like it was transactional as I do when I'm at the dealership and got to meet the sweet office pup, Chloe! Car was ready as promised. John was very thorough in reviewing what was completed, inspected and results of the inspection. It was a collaborative effort on how to plan for future services for the car and routine needs (i.e. tires). The ability to talk about what is most cost efficient and what is actually needed vs. a nice to have contributes to the transparency of Strom. Both Jack and John are awesome and Chloe too! Strom is professional and also super chill, friendly, honest/fair, they also play great music in the actual shop which contributes to the friendliness/good vibes of Strom. I am so happy to have found this place, one less thing to worry about when it comes to taking care of your car! Highly recommended! Oh and the Q7 felt great after being in the care of Strom. In 2024 I switched from my BMW dealer to Strom after reviewing the reviews on Yelp. It was a very pleasant experience and I knew I would go back in the future. On Monday a message was flashed on my dashboard that the coolant level in my car was low. I called Strom the next morning and talked to Brad and asked for an estimate to have coolant put in my car. Brad told me to bring my car in and they would do it for free. He said I didn't need an appointment. They would get to it while I waited. I got there at 3:00pm and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Brad was on the phone but John helped me. I asked him if he could have my tire pressure checked as well. John's friendliness really put me at ease even though I wasn't paying for the service this time. T The technician finished refilling the coolant and when he gave me my key, he was so very courteous as well. I am so very grateful that Strom take such good care of their customers. I came in recently to Strom with a referral from a coworker who has had his Audi serviced with them. I needed my BMW F30 diagnosed after receiving a drivetrain malfunction that another euro shop was unable to figure out. John was extremely friendly and personable despite the fact that I arrived at their shop right when they were about to close. He allowed me to drop off my vehicle that night to have it serviced the next day. Within a few hours the following day, Strom was able to diagnose and resolve my issue quickly. They were even able to quote me lower than they originally expected for the repair because they were able to obtain the part they needed for cheaper. My 2012 Audi A3 was driving horribly. I had taken it to three different mechanics, none of whom could figure out what was actually wrong with it. I even bought a replacement car and was planning to sell the Audi. As a last ditch effort to get the Audi fixed before selling it, my father brought it here. The guys at Strom immediately diagnosed the issue and fixed it. There had been carbon buildup on the engine intake which they cleaned. My Audi is back to driving great! It may have 118k miles on it, but it honestly drives better than my new car. More recently I got a flat on the new car. I took it to the dealership since it was also due for service and was still under warranty. The dealership tried to pressure me into spending $1600 on a bunch of unnecessary services and kept my car for several days. My husband rescued the car and took it to Strom where they replaced the tire in 30 minutes for $350 while he waited. I do not know what I would have done... or do in the future without STROM Motors in my (almost back yard) ... I posted a review a few months back... STROM had solved a problem, the Dealer could not find (after months of looking and suggestions which cost me quite a chunk of change)... A few weeks later a different light came on... I immediately took my car to STROM... I had 98,889 miles on the odometer (warranty was going to expire in 901 miles)... Once again STROM diagnosed the issue and told me (with certainty), it would be covered by Audi's Warranty... STROM sent me quite an expansive email on what the problem was (to pass on to the Dealer). I took my Audi to the Dealer... the dealer said it wasn't covered by warranty because of 'blah blah blah' (I do not understand technical engine talk). I sent the Dealer's 'technical talk rejection' to STROM... within minutes they gave me a technical rebuttal... which I passed on to the Dealer (the Dealer said they would research). After a few more days... I received another message from the Dealer... 'after further review, it was a different issue not covered by Audi's warranty'. Once again STROM within moments gave me a technical rebuttal... This went back and forth a few more times... In the End the Dealer took care of the problem... (no cost, saved me $$$$$) thanks to STROM'S diagnostic prowess, speedy rebuttals, and down right tenaciousness to not give up (on me or my car). I am in my car constantly and the feeling of 'safe' is paramount'... I have it back!!! Not only is my car in the best hands in Orange County... I feel... I am too! THANK YOU STROM!!!! read more

After a long drive home from San Francisco, my car decided to give out a few days later and wouldn't start. I'm no mechanic, so I did some window shopping and found Strom, and man am I happy to have found them. The guys I dealt with at Strom were friendly, straight talking, and worked with me on the service/repair plan for my A4 that fit within my budget. They did excellent work, provided before and after photos of the complete repair, and let me know which things to keep an eye on in the future. My car certainly seems to be running in tip top shape now. Regarding price, Audi's are not cheap to work on, we all know this. I called a couple of other local shops to get pricing on the same repairs and services, and they were all pretty much the same, if not a little bit more on a few things. So in my opinion, Strom is competitively priced, and they have a reputation for excellent work. My experience was nothing but positive (outside of having to get my car repaired), and feel like I gained "my Audi mechanic" from the situation.
