I've been bringing my Daughter's Cayenne Deisel, my Son's Porsche 993, my Wife's 350GLE, and My 964 Cabriolet to John for years. the guy is one of the nicest guys I've ever come across in the Repair world. John does a fantastic job, he knows these cars very well and I'd trust him with anything. the only problem I've ever had was my Cabriolet. It was running rough, John spent a lot of time on it and it did run better but it still had issues. I could tell John wasn't happy with himself and knew the car wasn't 100% but I know he tried really hard to get it right. That doesn't change a thing, John's a great German car mechanic I'd recommend him to anyone especially someone that has a car recently off warrantee and looking for a way not to pay $250hr for a dealer tech. John is honest, super helpful, and is a great partner for your car's needs. I have a 2007 BMW, and I used to take it to this mechanic who had a gift for selling me on expensive repairs. Recently, my BMW went into limp mode, which meant there was something wrong with the transmission. Instead of heading to my usual, expensive mechanic, I went to John on the recommendation of another mechanic, who worked on my wife's Honda. After a inspecting my car for a few minutes, John told me straightforwardly, I should probably just sell my car. The cost of changing the transmission fluid would be expensive, and he only gave it a 30% chance of solving my problem. Rebuilding the transmission would be in the thousands of dollars. Can you imagine that? A mechanic that would rather give you honest advice, and build a long-term relationship, instead of trying to get me to make expensive repairs? I recently purchased a VW Vanagon. The vehicle was well maintained, but had a noticeable oil leak. Come to find out there are very few shops in Orange County that work on these vans. C&F was the 1st one I called and Jon got me in the next day. When I arrived I had left the vehicle running in the parking lot and there was a puddle of oil the ground. John told me he'd get to it right away to have it looked at. By the end of the day he was able to tell me small items that he believed was causing the oil to leak and told me it could be repaired the next day. I arrived at closing time that I stay to pick up my vehicle and when talking to him for a minute he mentioned he had to "Jerry Rig" a seal.. After hearing the word Jerry rig, I felt very uncomfortable with the overall repair and so I decided to check the oil dip stick before leaving. Just like I expected there was no oil inside the vehicle?! When I walked inside to confront John, he told me he didn't have time to put oil in the car and that there was an auto store right down the road. I'm now in utter shock so I then ask John to put oil in my car as I will not drive it and risk driving and creating further damage. He seemed visibly upset, telling me he had somewhere to be.. This is one of the most honest mechanic shops I have experienced. I have taken my Mini Cooper S in here about 4 or 5 times over the past 3 years to get various things looked at. Paul, the previous owner, and now John have turned me away each time saying I didn't need to do anything yet. The first time I went to them was in the beginning of 2014 to take a look at my clutch. Prior to that visit, another mechanic had told me I needed to get my clutch done ASAP and made it seem like it needed to be done within the next few months otherwise it make things worse. I was worried because that is such an expensive job on my Mini. I decided to get a second opinion and found C & F from their reviews online. When I went there they reassured me that I have a lot of life left on my clutch. Here I am, over 3.5 years later, and my clutch is still in great shape, no slipping, and John still tells me I don't need it yet. Recently, I went in because there was a noise when I would turn my car. Again, John was very helpful and explained everything to me. He gave me a couple options based on if I was going to keep the car long-term or not. He is very consultative, telling me the pros and cons of waiting to get work done on the car or doing it soon, and I never felt pressured to get any work done. Almost 4 years later, and I am finally going to get work done by them. I trust C&F and would highly recommend them! read more
