Amazing AYCE sushi place in San Diego. I came here on a Saturday night when many other places required a wait, here at Sushi Roll Land we were seated right away and greeted by the friendly staff. We ordered more than enough of everything we loved from tuna to salmon, everything tasted fresh and delish. The environment is mostly casual, I was here for a date and the music peppy and we found ourselves singing along. Excellent place, five stars.

Came in for all you can eat sushi while visiting SD. Good prices for AYCE and great selection. Visited on a Thursday night and quickly sat, small paid parking lot nearby and metered street parking available. For our spread we shared the gyoza, shrimp shumai, mixed tempura, edamame, baked mussels, and seaweed salad. For sushi and rolls we got the salmon, yellowtail, albacore, In n Out spicy rolls, Scott albacore, and honeymoon roll. Everything was delicious, fresh, and we definitely ordered too much food. Service was great, staff was friendly and everything came out quick. Food didn't hit the same as my hometown AYCE spot but still tasty.

First off, I have to say our server truly exceeded our expectations. She was attentive, constantly checking in on us, and super helpful when it came to deciding what to order. Highly recommend asking for Jin--she made the whole experience even better. We went with the AYCE option, and everything was delicious. The avocado and jalapeño bombs were amazing, and I believe it was called the "Roll Land Roll"--so good! The miso soup, cucumber salad, and seaweed salad were also a great touch and really complemented the meal. Definitely coming back!

This place always seems hectic. Our server was great. The miso soup was served with metal spoons that were lava hot. Not good. The sushi was very good. I didn't appreciate the $1 up charge for a soy wrap rather than seaweed. Nickle and dime stuff. They have the really real wasabi. $5 for a good helping and so worth it. They have an all you can eat and a regular menu so they fit the bill for just about everyone.

Baked mussels and spicy scallop nigiri are a thumbs up but the unagi nigiri was lacking ell sauce. Notice the writing on the plate LOL

My friend and I ate here for dinner since we were craving sushi. We hadn't been back since it was RB Sushi and wanted to try it out, hoping it would be just as good. Boy were we disappointed! The food isn't horrible, but it's not high quality sushi like other AYCE sushi restaurants. For the price of $40 per person for AYCE, I'd rather go elsewhere. I feel like sushi places that have lots of sushi rolls with cream cheese is trying to mask the quality of the fish or trying to fill people up easily. Most of the rolls we had had cream cheese and were heavy. Their tempura shrimp and fried onions were also weird and the batter didn't appear to be the typical tempura batter. I do have to give kudos that they offer carpaccio which was probably my favorite item on the AYCE menu since it was just fresh sashimi without any fillers, so it was nice and refreshing. The funny part is that they still had dishes that had "RB Sushi" on them. Makes me wonder why they changed the name if that's the case. I think I would come here if I'm just craving a roll or two, but I wouldn't do the AYCE again.

I wanted to like this place so much. The pros were that they validated for the garage parking and had a variety of everything on their menu. Bathroom was clean. However the service was excruciatingly slow and it was not busy at all in the restaurant. We even had to ask for the plates and such because we didn't have them all at our table. The fish was tasteless, but good texture. The salads were room temperature though. One roll my friend said was inedible. Miso soup was good. Since you order in rounds, we only did two because it took over an hour to get all of our round one food. Editing to add that there was no AC or airflow so it was so hot in there. Sadly would not recommend.

I was in the area and wanted to dine out for some AYCE sushi w/ some friends. It was pretty empty on a Friday afternoon. The ambiance was alright during this time! In order to start, you need your whole party to be there. It was also roughly $50 per person, as a sushi lover-- I do think this is pretty high. You also on my get roughly 3 rounds as well. We ordered a bunch, from sashimi, to nigiri's, and rolls. Out of all the pieces, I think I only really enjoyed the Mackerel nigiri the most. I thought the fish was okay, but I'm also comparing to places that were cheaper and provided the most buttery sashimi. The rice to fish ratio was decent as well. I def would come here again if wanting AYCE, but I might look around. I think I've had more better in the Bay esp for the price. totally understandable though as I was just visiting the city! Lovely staff though, thank you for being patient with our table! I'd still recommend! But also after reading other reviews; yes there were a few flying buggies around that got a little bit in the way. Always room for improvement

Sushi Roll Land (Hillcrest, San Diego) is a solid go-to if you're looking for value and variety. First off, parking is validated, which is always a win in Hillcrest. The location itself is clean, spacious, and comfortable, and when I went on a weeknight there was no wait at all--super easy, low-stress dining experience. The best part of the night was the service. Cole was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, which really set the tone. Everything also came out very quickly, which I appreciated especially for an all-you-can-eat setup. For $40 AYCE, the variety is honestly impressive. They offer everything from special rolls, tempura rolls, and riceless rolls to nigiri and a bunch of appetizer/kitchen items like jalapeño poppers. It's nice to have options beyond just sushi, especially if you're dining with a group. The sushi itself isn't mind-blowing, but it's good enough for the price, and with so many choices, you won't get bored. One thing to note: the ordering system is a bit confusing at first. They give you three separate order sheets (with 3 rounds each) based on categories, plus a large menu for reference--but the items aren't organized consistently or alphabetically, so it takes a minute to find what you're looking for. Definitely something they could improve. Overall: Great value, fast service, and a comfortable space. Not the best sushi you'll ever have, but for the price and experience, it's absolutely worth it--especially if you come hungry.

I would not recommend coming here if you are looking for quality fish. We did the all you can eat which is priced well. I guess it's cheaper than other places because it's not good. We were all genuinely trying not to gag at a certain point. If all you get are rolls all jazzed up with sauces then you will like this place but stay clear of the nigiri and sashimi. 2 stars are for the service and easy ordering method.

    Alex V.

I'm a regular here and not the I come by evey month or so but every weekend or bi-weekly. $40 for ayce sushi is a steal and the service is always top notch. Yes is there higher quality sushi in San Diego, sure. But you'll be paying $80-$200 depending where you go. Little Sakana does what it does well, fast sushi to you so they can seat the next table and the next and the next. Sushi roll land, you never feel rushed and the quality is pretty much the same and I've had little Sakana both the Chula Vista and Miramar locations multiple times. Overall every time I bring my Freinds here when they want all you can eat, I've never had one complaint and always had a great experience every time

If you're looking for an all-you-can-eat sushi spot that's both high quality and tons of fun, this is the place! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome--super attentive, friendly, and quick with service (which is a big deal when you're in full sushi mode). The fish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented--definitely not your average "all-you-can-eat" quality. Every roll we tried was delicious (yes, we sampled A LOT ), and the variety kept things exciting. The appetizers and sides were also on point--crispy, tasty, and just as satisfying as the sushi. Honestly, by the time we left, we were full, happy, and already talking about when we'd come back. It's the perfect spot whether you're with friends, family, or even just treating yourself to a sushi feast. Highly recommend--come hungry and ready to be impressed!

Been here a dozen or so times over the last year plus and the quality of fish on the nigiri is not what it once was when I first started coming. But I'll say what really pisses me off is the amount of rice they use in their nigiri, specifically my favorite pieces, the scallop nigiri. If you look at the picture, the vast majority of the piece is all rice, they do this on purpose, so that you fill up faster and eat less. I'm usually able to eat 40+ pieces of nigiri. No problem, here, I can barely eat 20. I don't come for AYCE so I can be served more rice than fish. If you want top quality AYCE sushi from a restaurant and chefs that aren't stingy and over stuff their nigiri with rice, go check out Little Sakana, far superior quality of fish for the exact same price you'd pay here.

    In & Out Spicy. Calamari.

Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The carpaccio was light and flavorful, the sashimi salad was fresh with generous portions, and the Honey Moon roll was our favorite. Great quality fish, friendly service, and we'll definitely be back.

He woke up as we were leaving. by the time we figured out what was really upsetting him (he wanted to stay there and eat and wanted the table we were on), we have gotten out of our table and obviously the table was then cleaned for the next guests. So basically my lil one cried, took him to the bathroom bec unfortunately we dont get everything we want just bec we cry. So we went into the bathroom for him to cry his feelings out and be ready to get out. Was he loud? Absolutely. Was i embarrassed? Yes. But it was a lesson he needed to learn and i didnt want my discomfort to hinder that. (Mind you the bathroom was in the middle of the stairs lol midway the lower and the upper floor). So was i ashamed to get out? Yes. But the staff, so empathetic. So nice about it. Told me i didnt need to apologize and that they get it. Booking was easy through their website. When we arrived around 6:30, and there were still a handful of open tables so reservations may not always be necessary, but it's probably still a good idea. Our server was phenomenal and really elevated the experience. She gave great recommendations and even let us sample both the Cabernet and Merlot when we couldn't decide on a bottle of wine. We ordered a variety of dishes: * Spicy Edamame: very flavorful, but definitely on the spicy side so be warned if you're sensitive to heat. * Fire Fire Roll: light and fresh fish, but the seared salmon flavor didn't really stand out. * Orange Roll: also light and fresh, but I didn't really pick up the citrus/lemon zest element. A bit underwhelming compared to expectations. * Salmon Belly Nigiri: very fresh and a favorite at the table. * Crab Roll Special: generous portion of fresh crab. * Yuzu Cheesecake: served with three spoons to share. It tasted like a classic cheesecake, pleasant, but I didn't really get a distinct yuzu flavor. The space is cute and conveniently located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Overall, the atmosphere is laid-back and comfortable. While the rolls themselves are fairly simple and not especially standout, everything tasted fresh and the service was excellent, which made the experience enjoyable.

Both sushi chefs are super personable, very skilled, and they have rad knife skills! Service from the waitstaff was attentive yet unobtrusive. The restaurant is diminutive and consists primarily of the sushi bar with 10 seats and an attached patio dining area. They do have a small parking lot which is appreciated! The pacing was just right, and each course was presented simply yet beautifully. I truly enjoyed this experience and give it my highest possible accolades! I loved that we were able to taste test three different sakes before choosing, and the carafe of sake was perfect for two of us to enjoy with our meal. [Ambiance] - Classy, upscale, intimate - Has sushi bar & patio seating [Overall] - Made reservations for a party of 6 for my bf's bday and they definitely made it special! I love that they took pics for us with the chefs and even gave us a print out with a stand. So cute! - Would definitely come back for the food, vibes, and great service! - Each season they have a different menu, if you had all 4 on your stamp card, you'd receive a little gift! I definitely would love to try all 4 seasons but unfortunately I don't live around the area.

There was no wait here but parking was a nightmare and there is almost no street parking right around the restaurant which is near the trolley tracks. I recalled coming here for a light dinner with my husband many years ago and thinking it was good, but expensive. I asked if they had Japanese soda for my daughter because it was not on the menu, and they said no, but after we came back from the bathroom the host had found one for us. They gave us chopstick helpers and were very nice. We ordered braised pork belly as an app and wagyu nigiri, albacore, hamachi, salmon belly, 2 salmons, and unagi. I think that was all. They nicely split the order so half had no wasabi for the kid. They were very considerate and I appreciated it. The food however took a while to come out. The braised pork belly was ok, but the fat had not rendered as well as at some other places so we ate around it. The flavor was good though. The hamachi was probably the best item-tender and tasty. The albacore was standard and a generous piece, but the salmon was a bit tough and my kid who usually inhales salmon tasted and then left the salmon. The wagyu had good flavor but was surprisingly chewy. For $26 I would expect it to melt in your mouth but it was not easy to bite through. The eel was very tender but had a weird taste, and was disappointing. I found myself chewing on a scale from maybe the salmon and was overall underwhelmed by the food. The bill for a soda and the sushi came to almost $150 after tax and tip for me and a 6-year old. Usually my husband and I and my kid go to places with better quality and pay the same price for the three of us. Will not be back.

We ordered the miso soup, spicy edamame, Den Miso pork belly skewers, tamarindo tuna ceviche, seabass serrano, crispy karikari tuna, and mochi ice cream for dessert. To drink, we had the Taiyo Margarita and the Clouds of Matcha cocktail. The spicy edamame was probably the only dish that fell a little short for us. It wasn't bad by any means, but we were hoping for more flavor. The absolute standout was the Den Miso pork belly skewers. My husband and I both took our first bite at the same time, looked at each other, and immediately said, "Oh!" We were genuinely surprised by how juicy, tender, and flavorful they were. There were only two skewers, but they packed so much flavor that we instantly wanted to order another plate. The tamarindo tuna ceviche was fresh, light, and refreshing. The taro chips added a nice crunch without overpowering the dish. The seabass serrano was enjoyable, though it wasn't a stand out for us. The crispy karikari tuna (spicy tuna over crispy rice) is one of my go-to orders whenever I visit a sushi restaurant, and this version was up to par. The only component I wasn't crazy about was the long, thin slice of avocado on top--I personally could have done without it, though my husband actually liked it, so that's just a matter of preference. We finished the meal with mochi ice cream, which was the perfect sweet ending. Overall, we had a great dining experience. Between the rooftop ambiance, attentive service, and several delicious dishes - especially those unforgettable pork belly skewers - we'd definitely come back and would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a great dinner spot in the Gaslamp.

This place is pretty walkable from the convention center though. They have a pretty good drink list that's moderately priced about $20 + for a drink. We got the Kosho Hana -which has patron, strawberry yuzu kosho and topped off with egg white and an orchid. I couldn't really taste too much of the strawberry but it did have more of a Yuzu taste to it. Very light, refreshing and great drink overall. It's not overly sweet, which was perfect. -Service was very attentive which we liked and they also had some good recommendations for the food. -also saw the menu that they have a Monday through Thursday happy hour from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Overall, a great place to just sit and grab some drinks. May need to come back for some of the sushi.
