This place is amazing ! What a treasure on mayport ! Called sub cultured this evening and placed an order to go . Based off the Yelp reviews I chose to order " The Godfather " which is like an Italian sub . It has fresh red onion , tomatoes , salami , cheese and lettuce topped with olive oil & salt and pepper ! Mmmmmhmm. I also ordered a small order of fries . They said the order would be ready for pick up in 10 min . ( they also have the potential to do delivery too ! Just FYI) Anyhow, once I arrived I was kindly greeted . I love the customer care they have here. It is genuine and I always appreciate them . As for the food, well , where do I begin . The ingredients are such great quality . I honestly think you can't go wrong with whatever you choose to order . But, don't forget to grab one of their sodas on your way out . I am not a soda girl but I always grab a soda from here because they are made with all natural came sugar and taste wonderful. So basically , if you haven't been here , make it a point to stop by ! Great subs, loves the Cuban it has pulled pork on t and a special sauce. The owner is from Miami and has perfected the Cuban recipe! It's a great location for picking up subs before going to Hanna park or riding the ferry to big talbot, little talbot or Amelia island. You can call ahead and pick up your subs to go. I have driven past this restaurant many many MANY times finally I stopped. It was great, everything is made on spot, tons of locals raved about this place to me as I was waiting in line to order. I went with a Philly cheesesteak because I was craving one, very happy I did. It was yummy. I do wish I would've added extra cheese. The sandwich was bigger than I had anticipated so it made up for the high price. I also ordered a small side of fries made by the fry God. A mix of fluffy and crispy. It is a little disappointing that they don't have a meal price everything is singly priced so it adds up pretty fast. The guys working were very friendly and patient. Just ordered a Godfather for pick up. I just moved here, and since this was my first visit, I figured I'd stick with a basic Italian sub. I'll be coming back for more! Everything was just right. The bread was perfect, the meat tasted fresh, the lettuce was crunchy, and the house creamy Italian had the right amount of kick. Philly is my home town and I really miss cheesesteaks. So, I've decided to go on a hunt for the best cheesesteaks in Jax. This is the first place I'm trying... Service was great! 5 Stars! Super friendly staff! There's about 6 parking spots that I saw. They have a small dinning room, about 6 tables. I got The Philly with grilled onions and whiz cheese. It was cooked to order. It was just a tad too salty for my taste but it was good. The poutine fries was good. It's my first time having poutine fries so I have nothing to compare it to. It was ok, I guess I just like my fires w ketchup. My husband though, he liked it and really liked their gravy. All in all, this place is good and there are other things I would like to try. Just had lunch from here approximately 3 minutes ago. It was so good I'm writing a review immediately. I had The Godfather to-go. They took my name and brought it out to me a couple minutes later. Can you ask for a better place for a hot sandwich? This place has everything from bulgogi to cuban sandwiches, and better yet they serve poutine! The ordering service they provide was straight forward and fast, but they didn't skimp on the quality of their food. Make sure you grab a Yerba Mate tea with the sandwich, perfect combo. read more

To start off, this place is so good that I'm writing a yelp review about it! Between my boyfriend and I we have tried the Montreal, The Godfather, the Turkey Deluxe and the Miami Cuban. We have yet to be disappointed! We are beyond impressed with the sandwiches here and the service! Everyone is so nice and welcoming and the food is amazing! These are the same fellas that serves the amazing sausage dogs in front of Home Depot. I'm so glad they opened up on the corner of Levy Rd and Mayport Rd. This spot has a great beach vibe blended with Caribbean and American culture. The food is sooooo good. Was hoping to make this my got to lunch spot but a bit pricey for Mayport. How could I forget, The Owner DaDa, is one of the hardest working food vendors I have met and this spills over to his whole staff. Make sure to get a old fashion glass bottle soda. Sub Cultured is a fantastic sandwich and salad eatery that truly embodies the entire meaning of its name. Along the run down drags of Mayport Rd you will find a walk up window that is Sub Cultured. It's outfitted with potted trees and flowers, pop bottles, and chalk board menus. The staff operate quite efficiently and make your food fresh to order. I walked down here for some lunch after discovering the joint's existence while attending a small craft sale/show nearby. I was happy to find it, as walking down the street left me feeling very uneasy - there are many buildings that appear abandoned and small businesses that look like they've seen better days. Once I got to the window, I put my order in and waited patiently for my eats. About 10 min later I was headed back to the show with food for me and my wife, and an old fashioned bottled dr pepper. We enjoyed the Sweet Caprese and Phillysteak sandwiches. Taking half of each, we got to try them both. The sweet Caprese was just as it sounds. A Caprese with a touch of sweetness. I really enjoyed it, as it contained many of my favorite flavored: melted cheese, tomato with pesto, and honey. I would order it again, and for $6 I thought it was a good value. My wife was not as crazy about it as I was. However, we both awed at the taste of the Phillysteak. These guys claim to be the same ones who make the Philly steak outside homedepot, where we first tried the sandwich (this in and of itself is mind boggling, let alone having a quality Phillysteak in Jacksonville). The steak is high quality, super thinly sliced, and flavorful. The cheese, peppers and onions really come together well to make the sandwich top notch. I highly recommend trying it out! I'd really like to come back and try the gypsy fries sometime. They are supposedly fries with the Phillysteak ingredients on top. A+ in my book, or in this case, 5 stars! read more

You walk up to the window (@ SW corner of Mayport Rd & Donner Rd), declare and pay, and wait, and wait...this is my 5th time eating here and thus far 14 minutes was the quickest they'd emerged from the door and called out my name and tacked on their obligatory "sorry about the wait" (it is like they truly believe themselves it is an anonaly, all 4 times!), one of the 4 prior lunches took a whopping 25 minutes. Just as I write this they deliver the package at ten minutes on the nose, an entirely acceptable score to me. They're not cheap, and neither are good ingredients, so that's fine; u get what u pay for and I'm a fellow sole prop, so will stay aligned. Terrific bread. Tender roast beef. Sprouts. Havarti chz. I'll be back, nagging the queue and abundant lack of shade again as the young old curmudgeon I am, because where the rubber meets the road they consistently border on terrific. It is Yelp week in Jax (-30%) and I really wanted to try one of the restaurants featured but almost all of the places were downtown or towards inter coastal west side of town. Which is not close to where I live....BUT then we were visiting family just off Atlantic Blvd. this day so I checked the restaurants and locations again and found Sub Cultured. It is a sandwich/sub/salad "take out only" place in Mayport just off Atlantic Blvd. over the bridge. It is on the corner and I missed it at first but all I needed to do is look for the line of military personnel lined up! They have good reason too...I order the Italian-Godfather-and fiesta fries to split with daughter! The sub had a nice hard outside but soft inside filled with our favorite Ital. meats, lettuce, tomato, red onion and a creamy Italian dressing; very yummy! Now they have Poutine or cheese curds, gravy on fries but I don't really like soggy fries and I suspected these would be so we ordered the fiesta fries which was basically a nacho tray with really crisp fries...not soggy at all! I was impressed! I would recommend this sub shop to anyone in the area! read more

Interesting place. At first I was thrown off by the ordering process. You stand outside in the heat to place your order at the window. The guy behind the counter was great. Explained everything to us newbies and made recommendations. You then go next door to a tiny three table dining room. They bring your sandwich to you very quickly--especially if you order a cold sandwich. Mine was the roast beef. It was tasty and I think had sprouts on it.
