This place is a hidden gem!! First time customer who is a huge fan of Cuban sandwiches and always on the lookout for a better one. I ordered the Cuban with som house fries and I was out of control!! The meat was tender with just the right amount of aioli and mustard with pickle. The cheese melded it all together and the bread was pressed with the right amount of crunch!! Usually I scratch my gums on the pressed bread, but not this time! This man is full. I feel a good coma coming on! The service was excellent and on a bright 80 degree, sunny Florida day, eating outside was the right way to go. Parking is limited, but this joint is totally worth the walk. Sub Cultured has the best sandwiches in the area. I had the montreal. It had a ton of cheese and meat. The bread was perfect as well. The large fries are extremely good when you use the ranch sauce on them. My family got three different sandwiches with the same response as i had. Best subs in Jacksonville hands down. We ordered a chicken philly and the polish sausage subs, and they were great. The chicken philly was loaded with and packed full with flavor. It was well balanced and had just the right amount of onion and peppers as well as a good amount of chicken. Hands down, this is the best sub shop in JAX. If our Saturday will be spent hiking, biking, or canoeing you can bet we will stop at Sub Culture for our picnic lunch. The sandwich menu is AWESOME. Always prepared with consistency and each sandwich assembled fresh for you. We always get the poutine to snack on during our drive to our outdoor destination. Finally made it to SubCultured the other day. The Porto Philly is AMAZING! The portobello mushroom was cooked perfectly, and the combination of the melted cheese, spinach, peppers, onions and aioli was incredible. I got my husband the Philly and I think he liked my Porto Philly better. read more

I been passing this place so many times and always see that they are very busy during lunchtime. I always wanted to see what all the hype was all about. This month I have been craving a good sandwich so I gave Sub Cultured a shot. I ordered the Cuban and the Roast Beast (yes I was hangry) and you know what I get it, I get the hype! I highly recommend the Cuban!! Probably the best I have had yet. The Roast Beast was pretty awesome too! I ordered online and from the time I ordered to the time I arrived was basically no time at all! I was impressed. Very friendly service I will definitely be back! Hole in the wall sandwich shop...with great sandwiches and service. I've been to the Home Depot stand a few times and remember them having a stand at the beach a few years back. Wish I had not waited this long to check em out. Better quality and taste at the shop by far! Good selection of sandwiches, salads, fries, etc. The soda selection goes beyond the mainstream Coke and Pepsi choices. I ordered the Montreal which was a Pastrami with cheddar cheese (curds i think) and mustard. Perfectly toasted bread which came from a local bakery complemented the sandwich. My son ordered the Cuban and had no intention of sharing because he said it was "not good but awesome." They have 3 tables to sit at inside and 1 table outside. If I go in the evenings, I'll get a sub to take to work the next day for lunch. The dood that runs it I felt like I had seen before--and I have. I've gotten an Italian sausage from him from outside HD which was great. The staff is super nice, and I can't explain how awesome the sandwiches are. Not only is it a banging local food spot, but they also get their delicious bread from a local mom n pop bakery cinottis (sp?) I've tried the godfather, caswell and the poutine fries. Owner just left my house, bringing my fries that they forgot of course Told me "as the owner u don't have to eat there" After waiting there for 30 minutes in 100° heat in the shade because no one told me they had a air-conditioned dining room two doors over in the building When the owner brought my fries she told me that they were busy and they have a small area and they have 4.5 stars on yelp and I asked her if she reads them I said yeah but do you read the ones that they don't recommend they all say the same thing long wait, orders wrong, wheres the dining room, owner is immature I guess it would've been my fault that I didn't check my order to make sure it's right But then again like I was trying to explain to her before she rudely interrupted and told me I don't have to eat there was that if they weren't busy gossiping about last nights shooting in Jax Beach if they told people to go over and wait in the dining area in which most of people didn't know they have they won't have to walk out to peoples cars three and four times further wasting valuable time because they're so busy I don't think individuals who give this sub shop such a high Mark really go to any place where they have good customer service or great food In Jax Beach there's plenty of sub shops within a 2 mile radius this sub shop is in the blighted area of Mayport surrounded by fast food chains if that If you have a wait time of 30 minutes and don't forget or are willing to check your order this would be a good place Mostly though I think as a young owner she would be more than happy to actually listen to anybody willing to talk to her about any issues clearly she's doing everything right Last thing before you put the fries in the bag you should close them up instead of them being open the whole time the subs and fries probably would've been a good lunch I'll never know read more
