Called a week in advance for a party of 12 (7 adults and 5 kids) for a sub sea tour on Thursday and had a reservation at 2, they were so accommodating even when I had to move it back one hour. I've been out many times with Sub Sea Tours, and every trip is different, but all are wonderful. They keep the number of people small enough that everyone, short or tall, has a good view. They don't talk constantly, but share enough information to add to the experience. But we really hit the jackpot on July 1, 2021. Even the crew were excited! We barely got out of the harbor when we started to see spouts. With the rock still in view we started to see tails and bodies rolling and diving. For the whole three hours we watched while many whales lunged and dove and generally enjoyed life, with sea lions played and ate beside them. Amazing! read more

My husband and I went whale watching yesterday with this company. We were hoping to see whales but of course we know there were no guarantees. DJ and Dakota were driving the boat and very nice, knowledgeable young men. We saw some whales jumping in the distance and started that direction. The guys did a great job keeping us respectfully near the whales to watch them for about an hour. We saw 3 humpbacks swimming together. Had a great time! read more

This was such a fun experience! I booked the tour the Friday before, for a Sunday 9:00 AM departure for: 1 Senior ($40), 1 Student ($40), and 1 Adult ($45). The boat had a total of about 13 indiduals + our guide + the captain! Our guide was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable! He also was very funny! Our captain was amazing at guiding us through the waters and getting us close to the whales. We were able to see several whales, saw a HUGE school of jellyfish, and even saw a Mola Mola (Sun Fish). Some of our group even saw a Porpoise! It was a beautiful day on the ocean and the ride was smooth sailing. I did get sea sick, as well as another individual on our boat. The staff was very friendly and provided us with water and damp papertowels to clean up with. It is a smaller boat, so I recommend if you get even a LITTLE sea sick or motionsickness, take medicine prior - they do have some available if you forget yours, but once you start feeling sick, the medicine won't typically help much. The overall experience was just lovely and I will definitely come back. I really want to rent their kayaks - I saw so many happy people coming back. The bay is filled with wildlife - the otters are ADORABLE and the sea lions are just beautiful. We will definitely be back! I hired this company for scattering my mother's ashes at sea after she passed about a year ago. It was the best possible experience given the difficult situation. They were very kind and helpful over the phone in giving me all the information I needed and again when I phoned back to book the charter. Their prices were very reasonable and they were accommodating for my needs. We only had a small group and booked for early morning. We were able to leave a bit early as our group was there and boat was ready to go. The sea was pretty rough on our morning so they took us out in their bigger boat even though I paid for the smaller one. The crew on the boat were very nice and willing to help in any way we needed. We didn't have anything fancy planned. We just had a simple water urn and some flowers, but you could tell they really cared and acted appropriately given the occasion. read more

I went on the 9am whale watching tour with my family & it was great! My mom has Parkinson's, so we were looking for an accessible way to get her out on the water, and this tour delivered. I called ahead to ask the staff about the boat & they happily answered my questions. There are about 4 steps up into the boat from the dock, and one step down on the other side; all steps had a handrail for my mom to brace herself. The crew was on standby to help her if she needed it, but she managed just fine. Because the boat isn't too large, it was easy for my mom to get up & down from the outside bench seating using the handrails of the boat, which she also used to stand up and look out at the whales (of which there were MANY!). There was plenty of things for her to hold on to as we walked into the small main cabin for the restroom, which had a wooden grab bar inside. The boat wouldn't be wheelchair accessible, but was suitable for someone like my mom who is very unsteady on her feet. One thing to note is that the ramp going down from the street level is quite steep, but again, it has a handrail so we just took our time. The crew was also kind enough to let us "pre-board" so my mom could get on the boat without feeling rushed. In terms of the whale watching itself, the crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and found us several whales in no time! You could tell they really care about the marine life and enjoy what they do. We also saw a ton of sea lions & several otters, and it was such a fun way to spend the morning. The price was right, too - highly recommend!!! read more

We just did the three hour tour a couple of weeks ago, and it was great - the crew was good, and the boat was a perfect size - not too big or too little. Fun, friendly and a gentle ride for those that want some mild adventure without being too far from the shore. This is just an issue with the water, but, the flies were horrible. Again not a business issue just an fyi I wish I had sprayed some Off or repellent on my clothes before I went out. I'm not a Spanish speaker, but I was so pleased that the guide was bilingual and it was enjoyable. We've done two tours here: One was better than the other but I don't think it deserves less than 5 stars. We did a whale watching tour last year and it was great! We found some whales right away and our boat just followed them around for the whole tour. Super fun experience! We just did the sub-sea tour yesterday and that wasn't so great. The tour guide was really really fun and nice, he let the kids drive the boat and answered all questions. We just couldn't see anything on the "sub-sea" part of the tour, where you're supposed to go down and look at the fish through the glass windows. The water is too murky in the Bay to see anything, so I just don't really understand the point of having that tour option. But oh well! read more

We took the Sub Sea Glass Bottom Boat tour, 4 adults and 2 littles (2 1/2yr old & 6yr old), we all had a great time! The length of time was perfect for the kids attention span, 45 minutes, and they were both fascinated with watching the fish through the windows. The captain of the cruise was very informative about the sea life, the bay and the Morro Bay Embarcadero. Fun and informative crew! Amy and DJ made a very enjoyable, easygoing team -- they kept us laughing and learning about whales the duration of our outing (while also keeping quiet at key recording moments!). Nobody in the boat got seasick (yay!) and we had a great day on the water. Saw at least half a dozen full breaches and many tales and fins. Had a great tour with Sub Sea Tours! My grandson had never been on a boat so we decided to try the 1hour. It was fun! He had a blast in the underwater viewing area watching all the fish. Went here for the first time today to kayak with my family and the kayaks were super old and uncomfortable. My father-in-law and mother-in-law got in them, paddled out of the launching dock, then turned around because it was too hard on their backs. The kayaks were super teetery/unstable compared to the ones at Rock Kayak (theirs have fins at the back to stabilize), where i went last week (they closed early today, or I would've gone back). They don't have waterproof sacks/duffel bags to put purses and stuff in, so we had to leave all our stuff with them...weird to leave keys, phones, cards, cash, etc with strangers in the shack they don't constantly attend. When we arrived back, we had to get out of our kayaks ourselves (meaning standing up in teetery kayaks) because no one was around...the complete opposite of our experience last week at Rock Kayak (dry sacks, stable, comfortable kayaks, very attentive service, etc). The guy was very nice but that is honestly the ONLY positive thing i can say! read more
