Having lived in Chicago for 15 years and taking the train everywhere, I'm new to car ownership. I took my 2009 Subaru Forester to these guys, it was sputtering and seemed about to die. It did need a major repair - head gaskets. But they took the time to show me what had been wrong, answered a number of other questions about other issues, and the car is now running perfectly. Ill tell you all. The owner is a drunk that starts drinking at early afternoon , He offten uses . Shit parts (cheapest ) or used . He will often promise cars out and forget about them for days . This place is a joke . Many times the owners son will say "youre turbos bad " when its only a boost leak Often the owners son will say u need a motor because a minor headgasket leak (seeping )not leaking . These guys are awesome! They are very knowledgeable with Subarus and they give great, honest service. I brought my 2005 Legacy GT to them after my turbo blew and they gave me the best options to maintain my vehicle. The dealer was trying to make me change out a bunch of parts after the turbo blew, but SubaPros told me I only had to change out my banjo bolts and the Legacy should be fine. Pretty awesome because they charged me $140 for the banjo bolts when the stealership quoted me $900 for the same work. These guys rock! read more

These guys do a great job! They are friendly, and also honest (a rare quality in an auto shop these days). I used to go to Mike Shaw, where I bought my car, but then I caught them charging me for multiple jobs they didn't even do (and yes, I have proof). I highly recommend Subapros!!! read more

Had transmission issues on Wednesday had it towed to subapros on Thursday they call me said the car will be ready at 4 pm on Friday. I show up car is not ready and now has 3 codes that weren't there before they touched it. I paid them $413 and I feel like I was ripped off. They also claim since my car is modified that's the reason for the codes which is simply not true. My car is modified yes but it was done correctly and t was tuned over all not happy at all don't go here if you care about your car read more

WORST EVER SERVICE!!!!! not sure where rocky was whilst fixing my subie - but he wasn't wrenching and paying attention! maybe vacationing with his gf(or bf?) in the sunny bahamas or enjoying a weekend bbq? I effed up my subie purdy good with a timing belt snapping & herd these guys were good for the job - but NO, NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. suddenly my car started peeing antifreeze after their repairs, from a bypass hose thingy on the thermostat housing - BECAUSE THE SPRING CLAMP WAS NOT PUT BACK CORRECTLY. the spring clamp for non-car-mechanic people is this clamp that self-closes & it stay on the hose while repairing - so guy didn't check his work. mkay - I get mistakes happen - I do them myself all the time - BUT on a 2550 repair - I wouldnt want to look stupid. & had I not smelled burning antifreeze from my car - it would be a new engine - on them, under warranty. But the problems don't stop there - on a subaru there is a belt that do both alternator & power steering pullys - guy tightened the belt too tight (& they do these repairs all the time) an with the belt too tight - the bearings went on both units. an extra 400 for re-repairs. & they got my cash. I am so dissatisfied & upset - its typical b.s. from low caliber people. I have an honest mechanic who fixed their work. I will un-recommend SubaPros for the rest of my life. I wouldn't even go for an oil change - they'd probably forget to put the plug back & let ur car croke so they could get another crack at ur wallet! read more

Came here 30 minutes ago to get an oil change for my 08 STI was in and out in 20 minutes great quick service! And friendly staff. The only reason I'm giving four stars is because the waiting area is a little outdated to say the least and the decor was not the best. Will definitely come back. read more

Great place! I have passed this place a billion times, and finally was able to call them. The dealer quoted me twice what they charged me for a simple job. I really like them - no fuss, no muss. The dealer never shows me what is wrong with the car, nor explains with visuals what is the issue. This place does, and they do the repairs very quickly, either while you wait or with a cheap one-day rental (if you need one). I am so lucky to have found them! Knowledgeable in Subarus and only repair what is needed.... give them a try and knock off paying $$$ to the dealership. read more

I would've given them five stars but they forgot to replace the refrigerant in my AC system. In fairness to them I never got back to complain about it and only figured it out months later. I took my car in last winter to have the heads Redone, and all the pulleys and stuff replaced. In total it was about $3000 worth of work which was at least $1000 less than the dealership was quoting for the same work. If I have something big to do again I'll probably go back to them. read more

We had our 2006 Forester in for the 100,000 mile overhaul nearly 2 years ago for around $2,500; it has been running like a new car. I wanted to wait long enough to write a review to know if the job was well done and it has run beautifully. A couple of months ago right after an oil change at a Big 0, there was a huge puddle of oil on the garage floor. Since we weren't sure what the damage was we headed back to Subapro for a checkup. Yeah, he had to change it again and advised we not take it back to Big O or Grease Monkey if we love our Subie. We've had our Subie in three times now and the work is fantastic. wouldn't go anywhere else. Going to buy a new Subie this year,nwon't take it anywhere else. Reviews don't seem to matter since owner doesn't seem to respond but oh well...Called in because my impreza STI needs a new engine. While getting a new engine I was curious in also getting 100-150 more HP out of my car, nothing crazy right?? 300-350 HP to the wheel, i want to go the a drag strip and do a 11-13 second 1/4 mile and be able to have fun doing casual laps on larger tracks. I asked about some nicer/newer(forged) pistons and things along that nature and he said he wouldn't do it, too "race car" for him. You don't want to do the crazy deep dive upgrades with unknown results, I understand.(keep in mind project car gurus, new pistons/engine work for normal shops is a bit of a stress and uncommon) I started asking about getting some horsepower from just upgrading the ECU/ECM, fuel pump/injectors, and exhaust, which at 100k mils is replacing this that out of line anyways? Wouldn't even consider talking to me any more about my "race car" at this point and told me "I've got other customers in front of me, I'm going to go" and hung up. I'm not too worried though. It'll be cheaper to get my car fixed in cali(seriously) and that old man will drop dead soon enough, can't imagine a pissed off old man such as himself is in good health. Look forward to being able to come here again when they decide to start giving a fuck about customers again. read more

My Subaru Outback had on again/off again issues for over a year. It went to the Subaru Dealership 3 times to solve an issue of "Christmas lights," no acceleration, and difficulties shifting. First two times parts were replaced but the issues continue, and on the third time the dealership literally told me they had no idea what was wrong and gave it back to me. I took a chance with these guys and they were extremely nice, answered all my stupid questions, and found a horribly bent sensor the dealership somehow missed all 3 times. The car was fixed within 24 hours, I was given the bent sensor as a memento (and proof it was in desperate need of replacing), and it cost me half what the dealership charged. I haven't had a single issue since. This review is coming almost 4 weeks after the visit. I would absolutely return to these guys if I ever have another issue. Never touching the Subaru Dealership again! read more

Can't agree less with the above reviews. When selling my 2005 Subaru WRX, the potential buyer wanted it inspected before the purchase. Unfortunately, Subapros was the closest Subaru shop to our location. After a quick test drive the Owner declared that he "didn't think the turbo was working", but he admitted that he wasn't really a turbo expert so he had one of his other "technicians" go out and drive it. When he returned about 3 minutes later he said the turbo was working but wasn't making full boost and that it may be in "limp mode". I guess they didn't need any diagnostic equipment to diagnose this because they didn't use any. There was no check engine light or any other signs of a problem in the last 10k I had been driving the car. They ended up telling my potential buyer that he needed a new turbo soon to the tune of $1600 and a full rehose of the entire engine bay because one coolant hose was soft and leaky for another $400. I promptly took the car to a reputable Subaru shop in Boulder that actually hooked up a boost gauge and showed me that the car was making the full 12psi of boost and replaced the $7 leaking hose. Thanks for creating a $2000 problem that wasn't there and costing me the sale of my car. You've earned a negative rating to everyone I can talk to about you. read more

The only pro to this place is that they will take the time to show and explain to you what is wrong with your vehicle. I brought my 2001 forester to check out the front breaks and bearings. I was called shortly after dropping my vehicle off to come look at it. Several times on the phone the employee snickered at me while asking where the vehicle was from because of the rust that had accumulated on it. When i came in to look, i was shown the rust on the front axel/wheels, and that my car needed new breaks. They showed me the ball joint and said it was starting to give and that was also a safety issue. I asked them how much to replace the axel etc and instead of getting a quote i was laughed at and told to "crush my car." At this point i had to walk out of the shop because they were so incredibly rude to me. Im so sorry i didn't bring you a new wrx to masturbate over. They finally agreed to do my breaks and made damn sure to tell me what a hassle it was when i picked it up the following morning. I was unhappy with the price but more than happy to leave a shop where everyone is a total dick. I took my car to another mechanic. Sure the vehicle is rusty but they immediately told me it was not trash and quoted me $600 to fix everything Subapros wouldnt even bother to quote me on. I would also like to note $600 is less than double what my front breaks cost at Subapros and no one made me feel like a joke. Dont go here unless you have some fancy little subaru for them to play around with. They obviously do not want to do any actual repair work. read more

I have been using Subapros since I moved to Denver a few years ago. Before that I did my maintenance at a Subaru dealership that overcharged, fixed things that weren't broken and even ruined the tint on my windows when they tried to fix the wind noise coming from my car door (that was still there after they fixed it). The people at Subapros are cosistently friendly, never overcharge and are so honest and straightforward. They even fixed the wind noise for no extra charge (without ruining the window tint). They are so knowledgeable and do such a great job. I would never want to go anywhere else, it doesn't get anybetter than this. read more

This place is a scam. Do not take your Subaru here. First off, they charge way more for a diagnosis then the dealership. Subapros charges $95 just to look at it, the dealership down the road charges $55. Second, all they did is read the codes my car was putting out and clear them. They did nothing else. They tried to tell me that both the front wheel sensors might need to be replaced even though the codes they gave me only mentioned the left front wheel sensor which tells me they didn't even look at my car. The wrote my phone number down wrong and had been calling the wrong number all day and when I called to check on the status of my car the guy Don was extremely rude and arrogant and told be they would call me when they know whats wrong and then he hung up before I could give him my name. Little did he know he was trying to call me all day but couldnt reach me because he had the wrong number. I paid the diagnosis fee and received no diagnosis or fix and they had my car all day. Later on the phone the guy told me it might be my whole car computer that needs to be replaced and he would need my car for a couple of days. I eventually went to the dealership and they pulled the codes and said its just your Left front wheel sensor and its gone bad. It took the dealership less than an hour for them to replace it and cost me less for the diagnosis. Subapro seemed like they wanted to milk the time looking at my car to charge me a whole lot. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT TAKE YOUR car here. read more

Not very impressed! I had both inner cv axel boots replaced on a 2007 Outback. The Mechanic did not bother to clean up the mess from the old boots that were split. When I got the car home I saw that one of the boots was not on right. I took it back, and they fixed it, but not even an apology. Thought maybey I would get something for my trouble. I trust and respect these guys wholeheartedly. They did a pre-buy vehicle inspection for an Impreza I planned to buy, and identified a number of things it'd need if I wanted to purchase and keep it for a long time. As a bit of a DIYer, I indicated I was planning to do the work myself (head gaskets, timing belt, etc.). They were more than happy to point me in the right direction. A couple times during the project when a question arose or I was having trouble doing this or that, I gave these guys a ring and they were more than happy to walk me through it. Now they could have squeezed some money out of me and said, "sorry guy, gotta bring it into the shop," but they didn't. They were very open with the information and seemed to respect me attempting the work myself. Project is now all complete and car is running great. But if anything comes up that's over my head - or that I attempt and need an expert resource - they'll be my one and only call. Truly, top notch people AND mechanics to boot. read more
