Last week I saw Shannon at Sublime for an ombre dye look! I really love this new trend and wasn't sure where to go because since coming to the city I have tried a few salons and been disappointed with the results just super generic cookie cutter blonde highlights but Shannon did not deliver generic results they were specific to me my style, hair type, needs, etc.!! There was thought and care taken into the whole process and it really shows in the finished look. During our consultation I knew I could trust her and she would give me that natural beach blonde look like Lauren Conrad, Sara Jessica Parker, Rachel Bilson, etc. I am super excited to see how the style starts to evolve as it grows out. It's exactly what I wanted Shannon is a talented colorist plus she is easy to talk to and makes you feel super comfortable the whole time. I should also mention the post coloring blow out Shannon did. It was smooth with body and looked awesome I went for a 5 mile run then a hour and half of yoga. I just love Sublime salon. I got married a few months ago and Micki did a fantastic job with my hair (which is often a bit difficult!). She interpreted me right away and made me look awesome. Teri did my makeup and completed my look fabulously. After that I went to the salon for a haircut, and Micki taught me how to style my hair easily everyday. While in the salon I got to see the other stylists working great on other customers, so just go with whoever is available, as they are all great! (you need an appointment) read more

I found my way to Sublime by following Claire! Claire has been my hair stylist since back when she was a budding artist taking her professional training in San Francisco in 2006. When she completed her studies, she launched her career in NYC: obviously not so geographically desireable for this native Bay Area resident, although I did go to her salon on one festive occasion in the Big Apple. I was thrilled when I heard that San Francisco pulled on her heartstrings and brouught her back to my home town, where I now trust Claire implicitly for my haircuts. Here is yet another review i have for my favourite salon! This one is for Tanja. I recently moved back from Berlin and since Jill was on leave but I lucked out and was able to book with Tanja who coincidentally is also originally from Berlin. Anyway not only is Tanja a lovely person, but she always gives me my great rock n roll haircuts. I've seen Tanja for haircuts twice within the past year, and I've never been happier with a haircut as I am after an appointment with her. I have (well, had) long, thick, wavy hair and was really looking for a big change. I wasn't sure what would look good on me so I asked Tanja for her advice. After playing around with my hair and suggesting what would be appropriate for my texture and the amount of maintenance I was willing to put into it (very little), she suggested I go for shorter, layered look that would play up my natural wave more. I couldn't be happier! I was afraid I would miss my long hair if I went this short (the longest layer is about shoulder-length), but the style is so fresh that my only regret is not having seen Tanja sooner. Besides the great cut, Tanja is also the consummate professional; friendly (not overbearing) and courteous, she made me feel like I was the most important person in the world during my appointment, and her customer service is outstanding. The first time I saw her, I happened to book a same-day, very last-minute appointment, but she stayed late so that she could get my hair just the way I wanted it, and didn't make me feel at all like I was a nuisance or that I was inconveniencing her. Never been happier with my hair! I found a crazy picture on the internet of purple/blue tint and fell in love. I knew I needed that hair. So I went to yelp and searched for hair salons in Pac Heights and Sublime was the first on the list. They were able to fit me in the next day with Danielle. She did an amazing job! I showed her the picture and she absolutely nailed it! It turned out better than I could have imagined. I am very very happy with Jill's skills! Back in December I browsed on Yelp and selected a stylist who many people on here recommended. He gave me the most godawful mullet--I cried for days. I've been waiting for months so it would be long enough to restyle without shaving my head. A friend advised me to see Jill at Sublime and sure enough she performed a miracle on my head. I have a headful of big, fat curls...and no one can do them justice. I've paid lots of money over the years for really crappy cuts. then I asked a friend of mine who always has great hair (not curly, but always great cut and color), where she gets hers cut. she said sublime. Before I came to sublime, I had not been to a stylist in almost four years. All those bad cuts left me feeling icky every time I walked out of a salon, so I just couldn't do it anymore. the first time I left this salon, I was almost in tears. I felt like I looked ridiculous. then I realized that stylists never style my hair like I do and the next morning, after I got a bazillion compliments, I realized I finally had an fantastic haircut. I LOVE this place and now that I've moved to Seattle, I'm really bummed. I tried a place here where I got the worst cut EVER (so bad that they offered to have their best stylist fix it for free...it only barley helped). I have been getting my Brazilian blowout from Wendy Deng for about four years and if you have not tried that service please see my other Yelp review from about two years ago. I would like to say that she is still at a 5 star rating when it comes to Brazilian blowouts for me. It was during one of my Brazilian blowouts that Wendy told me she was beginning to do eyelash extensions. Wendy is not a pushy saleswoman, she just suggested that I follow her on Instagram (lashesbywendi) to get a better idea as to what she was talking about. After stalking her Instagram and begging her for more photos, I tried it! I must say I love it! The appointment is an hour and when I asked what I can expect Wendy was thorough in her explanation of how she was prepping, the process, and told me she would discuss the after care once we were done. Wendy will suggest that if you wear contacts to wear your glasses, though I must say I have worn my contacts forgetting to bring my glasses and I had no issues. Once I was done, I was obsessed...the lashes were amazing! My lashes made me feel youthful, sexy, and I literally stopped wearing makeup. I love makeup, but you really don't need when you have your lashes done. Put on a lipstick and you look beat to death! I had my phone out to make my follow up appointment after I could stop looking at the mirror and Wendy told me she had another appointment lol. Wendy explained the care and on my first visit I bought the lash shampoo kit (comes with lash comb, instructions, and shampoo applicator), which will last you over a year! Now I laugh with Wendy when I make my nap appointments as I call them because I literally lay down for follow up appointments take a nap and an hour later wake up to look like a million bucks. That is how gentle she is and good at what she does. Word to the wise, I tried it to try it and got addicted. I mean now I wake up looking amazing especially after my microblading from Wendy. Microblading was something that started picking itself into my head after viewing the amazing results from the Wendy's Instagram. I kept asking her about it as I do have a lot of hair on my eyebrows, but from being young and dumb there were some holes I had insecurities about. I spoke with her and she said she would be able to cover the holes. I booked my appointment with her. I was nervous when I arrived, but she was so calm and told me step by step what we would do. My pain tolerance is low and with the numbing cream it wasn't so bad, now for me to say that means something! When I was done Wendy told me what I can expect in the next few days and sent me home with everything I would need to take care of my eyebrows. There were no surprises and it healed beautifully. I went back for my touch up and again it was great. Now I wake up good to go and looking amazing! I no longer waste my time or money having to buy the products for my eyebrows...they are done. 10 out of 10 recommend Wendy Deng! read more

I have phi blade eyebrows thanks to Wendy and now I have a keratin treatment with tint on my eyelashes. I often lack the vision to even know what I want done with my color, that is when Rosa steps in and offers her extensive knowledge and foresight. She always surpasses my expectations. This is about Jamie Bagley, the coolest stylist EVER who knows color better than anyone I've ever been to. I've been coloring my thick, mousy brown hair since the mid-eighties, so that's saying something. Jamie always does my hair in a way that's trendy, but classic. She is a great communicator on what and how she plans on cutting and coloring my hair, and most importantly, really listens to what I want. She is honest with me, but hears me out even when I'm asking for something she knows my hair can't do. She always comes back with a solution on how she can do it a different way to get the effect I'm looking for, and she's right every time. If you're looking for someone to repair a bad color job, look no further - she's the one. I "cheated" on her once with a stylist a friend convinced me to try, and when I came crawling back to her to fix the botched job, she didn't make me feel bad at all, just explained how we were going to get back to a happier place, and told me how to repair the damage that had been done to my hair. I felt horrible, but we laugh about it now. On top of all that, she is funny, kind, priced fairly for the incredible job she does, and her head massage in the bowl is amazing. Jen is a SUPERSTAR! I decided I wanted to lighten my naturally dark brown hair after years of doing nothing with it. I consulted with Jen, who is well versed in the highlights/color process. Jen made sure to mix the right shades of color to compliment my dark hair and to avoid that overdone look.Being that Jen is a makeup artist as well (her makeup & skin always look FLAWLESS) she understood that my new color should also work with my olive skin tone and she nailed it. my salon whoring days are over. i finally found my place. i just got a cut from terri and man, im one sexy looking mofo, at least the hair. i walked in with this hybrid, inverted bowl cut/ mushroom head and walked out one sexy mofo. terri knew exactly what neeeded to be done, got right to it and bam. now if i was only a foot taller, in better shape, better looking, about a good five pounds more in the cushion (yes asian men have flat asses, cant be help, damn, so sad)..... i could be model. she shows you how to mess with your hair at home so it turns out the way she does it. nice. oh by the way did i mention shes HAWTTTTTT !!!!!!!one!!1!!! +1, so six stars, cause terri seems like a genuinely cool person. read more

I like my hair, I like a good hair salon. So my hair cutter (Kerrin) went to a new salon, (at least new to me..) called Sublime. It's a great step up for her, although the name is reaching a bit (see note (d) below for the true meaning of the word "sublime." Anyway..... She has always been great (see my other reviews of her service - she still does the same great job) but she's doing it in a place that is (a) convenient to park my car (b) closer to my house (c) closer to many Starbucks' (because how much better to sit down and get pampered when you have a Starbucks Mocha, and by the way, what is the plural of Starbucks...."Starbuckses"?) and (d) closer to my church (to say a prayer and be thankful for a life that allows me to have things like nice hair cuts. OK. Since I'm a professional who has to see clients, I have to ooze professionalism, and this cut does that. Every time. I have to write a NEGATIVE REVIEW for this place. I did not get my hair cut here but came to get my hair STYLED FOR PROM. I picked this place because they seemed repeatable and the reviews were great. I had my hair curled and my bangs braided. I have curly hair so I realize styling can be a challenge but my hair came out FRIZZY AND LIFELESS!!!!!!! During my consultation my stylist was late and on my actual appointment day my stylist left me while in the middle of curling my hair to cut someone elses bangs. WHO DOES THAT!!!!! I paid 90 DOLLARS to have my hair styled and I ended up having to REDO IT MY SELF!!!!!!! For that kind of money i expected a masterpiece. Two of my other friends went the same day as I did to get there hair styled and were disappointed as well. Ones hair fell apart before she even got to prom and the other was not happy with the way it was styled( both paid 80 dollars +) For the price we paid this is unacceptable I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. read more

I used Sublime Salon for hairstyles for my wedding. They were one of the few places that didn't use the word "wedding" to jack up the prices on hairdos. Very accommodating--fit 6 of us ladies all in on a Sat. morning. They were also flexible--they re-scheduled the times with me a few weeks beforehand when I realized we needed to get our 'dos earlier AND they even were good sports when my mother-in-law pulled a number the day of. The words that I requested for a cut got lost in translation! Not one strand of hair was cut the way I wanted. I will not be going back to her. Jenn Acierto is an amazing hair stylist! I hired her for my wedding in June and cannot be more pleased with how every girl's hair turned out. Jenn arrived at our hotel promptly at 7AM on the wedding day, and quickly turned around the most beautiful up do's! She is patient, professional and super warm and personable! She is creative and has an eye for what will work and what will not work. All the girls loved chatting with her, and could not stop raving about how much they loved their hair that day. She was ahead of schedule and was even able to fit in a bridesmaid that originally was not going to get her hair done! Jenn is great at what she does and has many years of experience. A couple months ago I had a great hair cut with Wendy. She asked me a ton of questions about the way I wore my hair daily and cut a style based on that information. It grew out really nice and would have loved to get it cut just like that again. A couple days ago Wendy was not available for another hair cut so I decided to get a cut with Tanya. She completely ruined my hair. There are literally two layers in my hair. The longest one that comes about a little lower than my collar bone and one that is as short as a bob. jill at sublime did my wedding hair and it was pure perfection. i wanted to go soft for my wedding. none of that tight-ass ballerina bun crap for me. it was important my hair looked shiny, healthy, and bouncy. oh and wavy. so, so wavy. like mermaid hair. that's what i wanted. let me start by saying i have very straight hair. it's silky and fine and no matter how long i spend with a curling iron it always ends up back where it started. i was a bit worried no one was going to be able to bring it to pantene fabulousness for my wedding day. after a misguided debacle at aveda i decided to try jill out. we did a trial run for around $80 and spent an hour just playing. she knew exactly what i was going for and by the time i left her chair i was completely confident i would have perfect wedding-day hair. the day of she was on time, laid-back, and did exactly what we had planned. i left there with the most beautiful waves and what's more, my hair stayed wavy and pretty even as i shook it all nite on the dance floor. we're talking some seriously drunken revelry. still in all my pictures, my hair held up. i don't know how she did it, but she's really that good. read more

After 5 years of searching for a salon... the search stops here. Shannon and Claire are a dynamic duo! Not only were they super sweet and talented but they wholeheartedly cared about getting me the exact look I was hoping for. The color is OUTSTANDING. Shannon took me from a dirty boring brown to a flirty classic brown with highlighting underneath which made for a natural golden tint, for this low maintenance girl, its perfect. I don't have a doubt that this color will grow out perfectly without a hint of roots! Claire was up for the challenge and took 5 inches off my naturally wavy hair and gave me a sexy shoulder length cut that I can style up, tuck into a pony or simply roll out of bed with. I couldn't ask for more!!!! p.s. Dont let the website prices scare you. They're much more reasonable than advertised, especially for the results!! AMAZE!!!! read more

My hair stylist Claire is one of the most lovely hairdressers I have ever met. She is so thoughtful, considerate and kind. I am always very confused and up in arms about what to do with my hair, but Claire sets me on track. She has ideas that are tailored to my preferences. I found Sublime Salon via Yelp reviews when I was in the midst of a bit of a hair emergency (had a job interview set up, hadn't had a haircut in too long because of lack of money, regular stylist couldn't book anything for another 2 weeks eep!) and booked an appointment with Shvonne since so many reviews mentioned her expertise. Shvonne definitely lives up to her glowing reviews! She is a hair wizard!! Really personable, listens well (and I mean REALLY well - she makes sure she knows exactly what you're going for before she works her magic), and super talented. I have been seeing her for about a year and have never been disappointed by a cut or color from her. I recently did a drastic color change (dyed super permanent black for years - changed to pink) and was genuinely surprised by the results. Going from black to blonde can damage your hair tremendously (I've done it several times at home with scary results), but Shvonne's technique left my hair still feeling/looking like actual hair (YAY!). I cannot praise her enough, seriously!! The salon itself is nice too. In Pac Heights, relatively unassuming and homey (I've been in salons where I felt like I was on display for passersby and this place is the opposite of that). Everything is really clean and up-to-date. Everybody definitely goes out of their way to make sure you're comfortable while there. Even though I've never had a cut or color from any other stylists there, I've always found the other stylists to be friendly and talented (from interaction and observation). I moved here from New York and found Jill through a reference. She's the salon owner, and she has given me the very best cut I've ever had. It's long with pretty layers. She's excellent and totally unpretentious. And price-wise, it's pretty reasonable (for an excellent woman's haircut). My only suggestion is that the blow drys be a little more smooth. It looks great when I leave, but sometimes it gets frizzy later because it wasn't quite dry when I left. read more

This salon is amazing. I'm a low-maintenance girl who struggles to get her hair cut more than a couple of times a year. Jill, the owner, Pam, my colorist, and Claire, my stylist, are AMAZING. They have never made me feel inadequate for my lazy hair habits and instead have worked with me, giving me cuts and highlights that grow out reasonably well. They listen to me and remember my lifestyle so they don't propose something or let me ask for something that won't work well for me. Like bangs. They know I'd never come back for a trim so they have very nicely recommended that bangs won't work for me. Now the kicker, and why they get 5 stars (6 if it were an option): last winter was a very low time for me. They listened and gave their hearts to my hair. I know that sounds nuts, buts it's true. Claire gave me the absolutely most amazing perfect haircut I've ever had. Pam gave me lowlights that matched my mood and looked amazing for months. I couldn't have imagined a better look. I randomly picked this placed based on reviews and had an amazing first haircut since moving to SF. Kerrin cut my hair and asked all the right questions and made sure I was involved with every decision she made. She was also really nice in answering my questions about problem areas and giving great suggestions on how to deal with them (you know how some stylists go on and on commenting on your dry hair or bad color without being prompted)... Anyway, it was worth the price of being served tea and taken care of in such a clean and trendy salon. I will be coming back for my next haircut. read more

Wow this salon does not disappoint!! I've been looking for a great salon that could tame my unruly asian long, course, thick thick thick wavy hair and I finally found the right place! I looked here on yelp and this salon had great reviews and I just couldn't resist adding my own. I asked for Jill, one of the owners and she was fantastic. She listened to what I wanted, guided me down the right path, and talked me through it the whole way, I'm telling you you guys can't go wrong w/ her! My hair came out great, contemporary and fun, nothing I thought I'd ever be able to achieve with my mane and I wasn't the least bit nervous which is nearly impossible for me. This place is convenient too for all us working guys and girls. On Thursday night they are open til 9pm and serve wine for a nice little happy hour time! I definitely plan on making this my salon for years to come and Jill my stylist! If you want an awesome cut with supportive stylist who know what they are doing definitely choose Sublime. read more
