I keep coming here for the meatball subs! They are so good. The staff is friendly. No other meatball sub has compared thus far.

I really used to like coming here. But the customer service has become really bad. And I feel like you have multiple people working here and the person taking your order gives it to the next person and the next person doesn't listen. I don't know the girl's name because no one here wears name tags, but they wear short shorts like if we're a hooters . But this has been the second time I've had an issue where the next person That gets handed what the sandwich actually is, isn't listening! I had to tell the girl multiple times while she's busy cutting avocados instead of just taking a minute to say, can you give me a second and having me repeat myself! And then I told her after she asked, anything else, I said, can I just can I get pepper? She gives me salt and I look at her and I said I didn't want salt. She said, do you want me to take it off? How are you supposed to take salt off a sandwich when one you cannot see it? Instead of just listening like when I'm speaking to you your too busy doing other things because you wanna be quick. You put salt on the sandwich when I asked for pepper. Those are not the same things. Their employees need to do a better job at focusing on what the customer is saying, versus doing 20 other things. I don't care about you taking longer to make my sandwich.What I care about is me not having to repeat myself three times because you are not listening. She asked me multiple times too. If I wanted anything else needed anything else? Well, I can't even get you to put pepper on my sandwich. And you expect me to believe that you're going to make my order correctly. What if I was someone cant have added salt or high cholesterol. Now, food has been wasted and I'd have to wait longer all because staff can't just slow down and listen to the customer. They also make no eye contact.They don't speak.They just pass the sandwich from person to person.I just feels very impersonal, and like you're just trying to make me a sandwich and get me out of there, and then your the machine wants to ask me to tip. Quick service at a busy lunchtime on a weekday. Tried the Baja on prairie bread.. customized with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and pepperoncini. A very tasty sandwich and cute seating area. Reasonable prices and several sizes. A 6" was perfect for me. Lots of regulars and many people working to ensure service was quick and efficient. As I ate my sandwich I heard them double checking orders and getting customers in/out in under 5 min. Store seemed clean when I walked in, lots of seating as well as outdoor seating. I had called my sandwich in, went in to the store, and was out in less than a minute. I'm so used to going places that are understaffed and having to wait forever but this was a smooth experience. The employees were very hard working and kept things going fast during lunch hour. I wish Submarina California Subs had more locations around San Diego. All the ingredients are so fresh here. They slice the meat and cheese when you order it. Veggies are always fresh, never soggy. I've been coming here for years! Haven't been in a while so came today and there was a very rude unprofessional woman assembling the sandwiches. I didn't get her name but she was shorter and heavier set with highlights in her hair. She was making fun of the older man in front of me who couldn't hear well to her co worker! On my sandwich I asked for just mayo and she gob on mustard. She remade it, and told her co worker heavy on the dressing when I said light dressing on my first time through. . Years ago I discovered Submarina. Now I know it is a chain sandwich shop but I literally crave a sandwich from here all the time and it has now become a tradition to get one for lunch on my birthday. It never disappoints! I typically get the ATC on sourdough but I switched it up and got the Cali on sourdough most recently which is essentially the same thing but it adds bacon to it. The quality and freshness of this sandwich is what I love the most. We typically order for take out but sometimes if we feel like it we will sit inside and enjoy. I will say that the staff at this specific location are super kind and helpful which makes the experience even better. Can't wait to enjoy another one soon! read more

I come to this sub marina every now and then since it's so convenient however the last time I came by I purchased three subs and for some odd reason I got a weird stomach ache after. I wouldn't like to get into detail but by the way I wouldn't stop going to the bathroom I knew it was from here since it was the only thing I had eaten in the evening after a long day of work. For a second I thought it was just me but my girlfriend got the same reaction and wasn't feeling to well after this. After several days of not feeling weak I obviously figured it was food poisoning. So I called in today and spoke to the older guy that I believe is the manager there. However, I told him my situation and said nothing but just say "well thanks for calling and letting us know" and goes on and hangs up the phone on me rudely. Didn't ask if I'd like a refund or anything to accommodate for this horrible situation this nasty maybe rotten food put me in. He was very unprofessional, never coming here again. They have a great selection of different breads and toppings to choose from. They are always so consistent with the quality of their sandwiches and are reasonably priced. I am not one to write reviews about places, but this one just took it over the edge. I came to this location about two weeks ago I got a sandwich and when I got to my job, noticed that it had bacon I can't eat bacon. I called the location to let them know that my sandwich was made wrong. She said go ahead and come back in. They'll fix it for me. Since I was at work I just door dashed from somewhere else thinking that I will just get a refund. Went back in after work and was told they can't do a refund but will write my name down so I can redeem it at a later date. Come today sep. 22 I go in to get my sandwich and when I told the staff what happened multiple people told me that I redeemed my sandwich and was lying about it. I don't understand why I would lie about $15. Needless to say the staff is very rude 4 people telling me that I am lying about redeeming a $15 sandwich. I will never be going back to the location. I was waiting in line behind the customer that just left the last bad review regarding his bacon being "THROWN" from the grill to the table his sandwich was sitting on. First of all 2 to 3 feet is outrages of a distance (a bit exaggerated in my opinion). Second of all the bacon is being cooked for you so it's nice and hot for your sandwich and if you're like any other human when you hold something hot, it's going to burn. This is our choice whenever we want a good sandwich. My wife varies her choices but pretty much goes for The Italian, The East Coast or the Hot Pastrami. I'm a Club guy and most of the time have it made into a salad which is always very fresh-no brown lettuce! I like the way they slice everything in front of you versus just getting it out of some kind refrigerated display case. The bread is always fresh as well. The service is great too.
