I don't usually leave reviews for fast food spots, but Sam and Benji at this Subway absolutely blew me away. From the second I walked in, they were friendly, fast, and totally on point. Sam greeted me with a smile and actually listened to what I wanted (no rushed "what kind of bread?" tone). Benji built my sandwich like an artist--perfect portions, evenly spread toppings, and somehow made it look like the ad picture! They worked as a team without skipping a beat. Even when the line got long, they kept their cool and moved fast while still making every customer feel seen and appreciated. It's rare to find that kind of energy and care in a chain restaurant these days. Clean store, fresh ingredients, and top-tier service. It's took 35+ minutes after ordering on the app for them to even start making our sandwiches... 15+ minutes past the "ready by" time. And the tracking said they were ready on time. This location isn't busy and I ordered here because I felt bad driving further not to give them the business. Subway isn't a gourmet operation, but I do expect a franchise to have accurate ready times and order tracking data. Two sandwiches were fine, but the kids sandwich had an insane amount of mayonaise on it (we did not order extra). Big surprise that our kid didn't eat it. Disheartening Lack of Teamwork at Subway I recently visited Subway on 02/27/2024 and left feeling disheartened by the lack of teamwork and support among employees, particularly towards a visibly stressed younger worker. During my visit, I observed a much older employee neglecting her duties and instead spending time on her phone in the back, while the younger worker struggled to keep up with sandwich preparation. This neglect not only hindered the efficiency of service but also created a stressful atmosphere for both the employees and customers. What's particularly concerning is the stark contrast in behavior depending on the shift. When the older worker is on duty in the mornings and Saturday afternoons, she actively assists her colleagues. However, when paired with the younger worker, she fails to provide the necessary support, despite the younger worker being praised as the nicest worker by frequent customers like myself. As someone who frequents this Subway location, I find it unacceptable that an employee would be allowed to shirk their responsibilities and negatively impact both the workplace environment and customer experience. It's evident that this behavior is not isolated and has been observed by multiple patrons. I strongly urge Subway's management to take immediate action in addressing this issue. Every employee should be held accountable for their responsibilities and should actively contribute to maintaining a positive and efficient work environment. What a mess! This Subway on Del Obispo is completely terrible in all aspects. My GF and I visited on Sunday 7/28/19 for lunch... Here's what went wrong: #1 Arrived with a short line of 4 people in front of us. 2 people behind the counter making sandwiches. It took us about 10 minutes just to get to the counter and start our order. There weren't any large orders, just a sandwich or two from the people in front of us. Yeah, they are just THAT SLOW making sandwiches! They move at a snails pace at this location. #2 Finally, we're up! Right away, we're told they don't have the bread needed for 1 of our sandwiches. Ok fine, substituted a different bread. This was also after we heard them telling a customer in front of us that they had to double up on Pepperoni because they ran out of Salami. Oh yeah, and they are also out of Turkey!! And there was no lettuce in the bin either, just spinach. Yeah, a sandwich shop that runs out of 4 main ingredients. Nice. #3 Snails pace employee building our sandwiches clocks in at over 8 minutes to build 2 sandwiches. Nothing fancy, nothing needed to be heated up, they are JUST THAT SLOW! #4 Asked them to add avocado to the sandwich... he says it will be extra, is that ok? Yes. He proceeds to add the smallest amount of avocado I've ever seen. It was a footlong and he added about 4 of the smallest pieces he could manage. I told him that wasn't even enough for a 6" sub and that he needed to add more. #5 It took about 2 minutes just to wrap the sandwiches and put them in a bag. I have no idea what took so long, because when I got home, we realized he didn't even cut the sandwich in half! Yes, he forgot to cut the sandwich. Isn't this what you do all day, everyday? Never in all my trips to Subway has that ever happened. Slow AND incompetent. #6 Also, after getting home and realizing that they didn't cut the sandwich, we both took bites and realized the bread was totally dry. So dry, mine literally "broke" on the back half, making it damn near impossible to keep together as a sandwich. #7 Lastly, on other visits to this Subway, we've been told that they are "cleaning up the machines", so there's no iced tea available. I went to get the TV special. Also above the entrance to this Subway on 33489 Del Obispo in Dana Point, a sign showed the TV special. Two males were behind the counter. One told me that the special was not until 8:00 pm. I asked him to go outside and read the sign in front their business. He THEN waited on the customer behind me. Then he proceeded to argue more with me. I asked if I needed to call the cops. He told me to get out the store. He seemed to not know the business, and was the rudest employee that I've ever encountered. He should be fired immediately. Also the place was not busy. It looked like two servers behind the counter could have at least cleaned the FILTHY floor OR SERVICED THEIR BATH ROOM!. I suggest you not go to this Del Obispo location in Dana Point. I went in around 8am and the lettuce they had out looked a day old so I asked if they had a fresher one. She said it's been out that's why it looks like that. I said ok but I dont want that one thank you. By the way they didnt have cookies baked and they offer a free cookie when you buy a footlong. I didnt know that until she said i owe you a cookie. This spot is normally ok, however today when I went in the bread was drier than normal. The downfall was that they only give a quarter of an avocado for a footlong. When I asked the boy he said that is what they normally do there. Everywhere else I go, they give half an avocado for each footlong.
