a man in a red shirt standing in front of a display of chips and vegetables
    Jamal C.

At this subway in La'ie, I felt rushed & misunderstood. When I walked in there was a couple ahead of me and another guy. The young lady wearing the red Kahuku shirt was not friendly at all. She asked what I was getting. I responded the Black Forest Ham in a salad. She was like a salad. I said yes. She tossed the ham in the bowl and slid it down. She moved on to the guy behind me. Asking him what sub she can make for him. He asked what she recommends. That was funny because she didn't know. He pointed to the menu and said he wanted his sub to look just like the picture. We both stayed laughing. Another young lady shows up, she works on my salad. Simple right, I don't need much just lettuce, ham, cheese & Bacon chopped. She was much nicer than the 1st young lady. I paid and left. Not sure if I'll visit here again. We'll see.

I'm not going to say anything that hasn't already been said by others. I'll just give it to you straight here. If you're staying around Laie and you want a break from food trucks, this is a decent option. Subway is never super impressive. It is what it is. You know the food will be mediocre, but at least it's not deep fried. If you're looking for a good customer service experience, this isn't your spot. The older lady who I believe is the manager here is pretty darn rude. I had an unpleasant experience with her on my visit and went to leave a review...I was not at all surprised to see I wasn't alone. She just doesn't seem to have much aloha to spread...and that's pretty sad. End of the day though - if you want a sub...they've got them here. ‍ Just know going in that the manager is not a friendly human and order a white chocolate raspberry cookie to balance the experience out (those cookies are actually pretty dope).

The rudest Subway I have ever been to. Because of quarintine, the line is outside, so I was waiting outside because they were helping a customer in front of me. When that person was done I asked if I could come in they said they just closed. It just turned 8:01, one minute past closing. I came in a couple days later, and they were so busy rolling their eyes, bad mouthing customers, and complaining amongst themselves, they didn't mark my sandwhichs or cut the footlongs.

This is how the girl wanted me to carry my 2 soups, 2 sandwiches and 2 big drinks...Hello!

The service has been very friendly 2 of the 3 times I've been. Sure, the sandwiches take a little while to make, but I appreciate that they take their time with it and my sandwich is well stacked rather than slapped together. The first time I was there I was encouraged to try the pig and pickle when I was unsure between that and the pastrami. While I'm sure to try the pastrami sometime soon, so far I have chosen to satisfy my craving for the juicy and absolutely delicious pig & pickle. And I like their fresh and semi-dense sourdough; anything lighter would be a soggy mess with all that meaty juicy goodness piled on it! Give me fabulous food by friendly people and a picnic table on grass to enjoy it at - done deal - return customer again and again now that I've learned of this spot. Oh! Their lemonade, strawberry and lilikoi lemonades? Worth it. On a rainy day, the lemonade brought a bit of sunshine into my life and a smile to my face. And on sunny days it is refreshing. Thanks for that! The only problem is I went with friends the first 2 times and I didn't speak much during our lunch together as I was entranced with my sandwich. Oops!

I also thought the prices for sandwiches, which each come with a pickle slice and a bag of chips, were really fair. However, my wait ordering in person took quite a while, about 25 minutes for 3 sandwiches, which surprised me. For my sandwich specifically, the Smokey Pastrami on Sourdough bread, I found the meat a bit chewier than I expected, and was bummed that my bread wasn't toasted. I think toasting the bread could have changed the game for me, but it was still a good sandwich overall. For the other 2 sandwiches, my friends got a Pork n' Pickles and a BLAT. We all really enjoyed this place's pickles. My friends had no complaints with their sandwiches. We also all got a lemonade, 2 regulars and 1 strawberry, which were great! I wanted it to be a bit more tart, as they were on the milder/watered down side, but still hit the spot on a hot day, and the strawberry flavored one was def our favorite. Again, at $5 a lemonade, it felt like a good price for being in a food truck area with many tourists.

We drove up to get there just before noon on a Saturday. It was rainy, so the numbers were a bit light in the area, but there were still thirteen people in line when the truck opened for business. The owner was fun, friendly, and engaging the customers in conversations while prepping the food. There are times when I think some food truck owners take on the role of a short order cook and get annoyed that you don't understand "how" you're supposed to order; that was certainly NOT the case here. You just need to decide if you want a hot or regular sandwich and whether you want bleu cheese or special sauce. We got one hot and one regular, but the chicken is HUGE and two adults can easily share one sandwich. I'm torn, because while we would probably order just one sandwich next time, I also want to support the business and get two. The chicken was as good as everyone told us and had incredible crispy batter. The fries though...those were maybe the best I've ever had. I don't normally love the double cooked style fry, but could live off those and never get tired of them. This trip we had a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, and potatoes; bagel; pancake;, oatmeal; and assorted drinks (latte, tea, juice, hot chocolate). The food is genrally good, but it is a bit pricey.
