A little place worth finding in Pewaukee. First time diners, we tried a bit of many dishes, and…read morecan absolutely say this is traditional German food. The owner, Mat is doing his Oma and mom (Bo) proud, and I bet this place is especially in the summer when the food is not the same old options up and down the Pewaukee shoreline. With outdoor service and seating in warmer weather, and now a cute little indoor dining room, I am glad I took the time to stop for dinner. We tried the chicken and pork schnitzel, both bunless; the Curry Wurst; Pretzel bites; Spätzle; Oma's Potato Salad; and Sprecher's Root Beer, of course. However, beer is also on the menu, along with other options. The menu is not huge, but if you like or want to try true German dishes, stop in. The pricing is fair, and the owner is very nice. They use the all-natural Wisconsin Gold Tallow for cooking, and I just learned about it and how it makes dishes so tasty. And it is even great for facials!

This was possibly the worst dining experience yet. We came for Sunday lunch, and there were only 3…read moreother tables present. Yet it took a server a good 10 minutes to even bring menus. We finally get to place our order and while we waited noticed the table behind us getting plate after plate of the wrong food. We order and waited another 15 minutes for drinks. Our food finally starts coming out one dish at a time and it's not even correct. We were waiting for the last dish to arrive and our server took it to the wrong table, collected it from the wrong table and tried serving it to us after it was touched by someone else! So, terrible service. To top it off the food just sucks. Tiny portions that are overpriced. Not authentic German, not even close. The schnitzel were absolutely tiny and paper thin, you could barely even notice it was meat. For $15 you get two puny schnitzels and a tiny bowl of potato salad. During our time there at least 5 tables came in, sat and left not even getting drinks.

I haven't really had any of the issues that prior reviews have had with this location, and there's…read morenothing negative that I've experienced overall the few times I've ordered from here. Maybe that's the difference--ordering ahead instead of at the restaurant or getting delivery--but all of my trips here have been positive. The quality of the sandwiches have been good and I feel like I get a pretty good value for the cost of the sandwich, even after prices have increased slightly over the past year. I can still get my normal Italian Night Club sub and a bag of chips for just under $11, which is still a lot cheaper than places like Cousins Subs and Subway with far better quality IMO. I order ahead every time I go here, and I always give a 5-10 minute window. I've never once had to wait, with my sandwich always ready to go on the order-ahead shelf. The employees have been nice and energetic, and it's always nice to be greeted whenever I go in, even if it's for a ten second grab-and-split.

Wish I could give it zero stars. Disgustingly filthy! Trash and food all over restaurant. Got greeted by a nice young woman. I ordered the root beer float, and he got the Black Cow. They use Cedar Crest Ice Cream, which I think is high quality. The float came in a glass mug and looked amazing -- and it tasted excellent. To me, the Black Cow looked a bit watery (overmixed), but he enjoyed it. It was rainy, and we got the only picnic table that was covered. There were plenty of other picnic tables on the grassy areas across the parking lot. Don't know much about the food, but would definitely come back for the root beer float.

It was great to see it was a hot dog place instead of a burger joint; I ordered a hot dog with ketchup and relish and a side of onion rings, but no beverage as I had one in the car. Anyway, the hot dog was ok, but the meat itself was kind of soft and spongy, not to my liking. The onion rings, described to me by the order taker as fantastic, were, in reality, disgusting. They tasted like old, rancid oil and consisted mostly of a thick batter with the thinnest actual onion slice. I ate two small rings and tossed the rest. Just gross. I really wish I could have had an excellent dog and rings, because when I indulge in a fast food meal, that's what I love, and few places offer hot dogs anymore.
