We came for one thing and one thing only - crawfish. I really like the homey/comfort food feel of Sudie's and the staff is always friendly. This isn't gourmet food by any means, but it's always hot and fresh. They had decent sized crawfish in JANUARY, so I was happy. We sat ourselves and our waitress had our drinks (and my husband's beer) out to us within minutes. We ordered the fried green tomato appetizer and they brought us hush-puppies complimentary. The hush-puppies were extremely bland and doughy. I much prefer them at Captain Benny's or basically any other seafood place. They need to be crispier and maybe add some onion or jalapeno. The fried green tomatoes were good but the batter really needed to be seasoned better. They were pretty bland but the tomatoes were fresh and hot. The ranch helped for sure. The crawfish were smaller because they aren't really in season yet but they hit the spot for sure. They included red potatoes and corn with an extra fee and she brought us butter and extra seasonings. You can also add on a sausage which we didn't go but maybe next time! Overall, this is a nice place to bring a family for decent seafood. If you're looking for a fancy environment with extra fancy fresh red snapper or caviar, this is not the place for you. Most waitress's are older meaning they hire whoever wants to work and that's not a bad thing but service is not the same. Yikes. This place used to be THE spot for seafood. Not anymore. The fried shrimp had been frozen. They were 95% batter. Nothing had any taste to it whatsoever. It was a great disappointment. I used to love the League City, Gulf Fwy location, long since closed. I was a regular there. I believe this Spencer Hwy location preceded League City's. I liked the this Spencer Hwy location, though not as much, especially now. I haven't been to Sudie's for a while. I dropped by, being in the neighborhood. It was All You Can Eat Shrimp Day, w/ catfish. The $22 price tag seemed reasonable. A red flag soon popped up after ordering. I got a free basket of hush puppies. They were great by the way; however, I waited a long time for my entree and had eaten them all. When I asked what was taking so long, the server said she'd check and and offered me MORE hush puppies. I said No, I want my shrimp. I figured out the marketing scheme. Offer them a buffet, but fill them up on cheap hush puppies so that they don't ask for 2nd's on the shrimp. I had little room for 2nd's but wanted to eat more after I figured out what was going on. I could only get through a couple. My suspicions were confirmed when I was told I couldn't take the rest of them home. The server told me they throw them away. Really! Not only are people starving in other countries, but I paid for them. You just filled me up on hush puppies so I couldn't eat them and net you a bigger profit. read more

Everything here is fried and the service is just okay. It is a well priced fried seafood restaurant. I wasn't expecting high quality so I had the all you can eat shrimp special. The 3 options are coconut fried shrimp, spicy fried shrimp, and regular fried shrimp with two sides. The portions here are huge so two stars for that. Wow! We haven't been back to Sudie's for over ten years! We came back, and nothing has changed. Everything was amazing!!!!!! They serve real catfish! Everyone else is serving swai fish. We ordered the appetizer combo (see pic), boiled shrimp, trio dinner and filet and pistolet with shrimp etouffee. Dinner plates are huge. Everything came out hot and fresh even the shrimp on the etouffee tasted like they made it to order. The shrimp was fresh and not mushy. The etouffee was delicious. We will be back! While we were permitted to seat ourselves wherever we liked, the booth was a tight fit. However, my complaint ends there. We had the hush puppies, which were crunchy on the outside, but soft and delicious on the inside. We didn't particularly care for the accompanying sauce, but we're ketchup fiends and were satisfied with substituting ketchup as the dip. We also ordered the Cheese Bites, which were crunchy, flavorful outside, as well as gooey, cheesy inside. I had the Magnolia Seafood Pasta which was very cheesy and packed with seafood. I had to slow down a bit in eating it as the occasional shell did appear. The bread was deceptive, appearing plain but full of garlic buttery goodness. My spouse and daughter cleaned their plates, so no complaints from them. I admittedly boxed half my dish so I can enjoy some dessert. We opted to share a brownie sundae and banana pudding. YUM! I just had one great meal!! I went to Sudies' Catfish House for lunch with a coworker and actually ate ALL of my food (minus two hush puppies), which is something I try but almost never achieve. Everything was great! When you walk in, you can sit yourself. As we walked in we immediately got our menus and were told our waitress would be with us momentarily. Her name was Nina and she was very sweet and definitely efficient. I ordered from the lunch menu, prices on that menu range from $7.99 to $8.99. I ordered the fried shrimp, which comes with fries and coleslaw. They were very flexible and let me substitute the fries for some very good mashed potatoes and the coleslaw for vegetables. The iced tea was $1.99. I seriously liked my meal, it helps that I was starving due to my not having time to grab breakfast, but regardless of that... the food was just GOOD!! I went to Sudies Catfish Thursday 1-20-2022 about 1pm. Linda was very sweet and accommodating during this time for my dine-in experience. She also ensured that all of my order was correct. Andrik my server was so sweet and he checked on me a lot and made me feel special. The food! Omg! Delicious! I had fried catfish, french fries, mac and cheese and hushpuppies. All of my food was fresh and tasty. I also took home a bowl of gumbo which I ate today. The gumbo was awesome! I recommend you go there. You'll love it! I had an awesome lunch with my boyfriend today at Sudies! They told us to sit anywhere we'd like in the dining room. Of course I had to pick the one table that was dirty! Very fresh, perfectly-seasoned tilapia pieces with pico, cabbage and a heavenly green sauce. It was also served with rice pilaf which was surprisingly flavorful. I was very impressed with my lunch. My boyfriend ordered the Fried Catfish Lunch Special with corn and macaroni and cheese. He was very impressed too! The corn was fresh and buttery. And the mac and cheese was so cheesy and creamy. I tried it myself and loved it. I want the recipe! It's funny that I live in Pasadena and I haven't been to this restaurant in over 25+ years. Now I'm kicking myself! I know this is a local favorite, but I have yet to be wowed. The grilled tilapia is bland (they offer fried and blacken - I don't like either). The coleslaw OK, but taste like something I picked up at the grocery store, as are the hushpuppies. I prefer coleslaw not finely chopped and a little more creamy. My husband likes the fried catfish, so I guess I will return; but, it won't be because it was my choice, and he will owe me on the next pick. read more

Went to Sudies today for shrimp & catfish. Had a sink outside to wash your hands before entering..kinda strange but oh well..I understand with all that's going on with the Covid..Had every other table closed off, brown paper for tablecloth, paper menus & plastic utensils..Our first time really going out to eat since the lockdown..Really weird but Sudies didn't disappoint us on the food..Shrimp & catfish was great as always & Imily our waitress was great also..we'll definitely be back..there has been talk about town they might not make it, from the lockdown...hopefully they can hang on read more

Are used to go here as a kid with my parents and it used to be delicious. Now it has gone downhill the pieces you get a fish are almost paper thin and the flavoring is not the same anymore. Avoid this place like the plague!! We went in Wednesday night, it was 16.95 AYCE shrimp. That's what I ordered it was just ok nothing special but a great price. We asked our waitress if AYCE catfish was available and she said that she needed to check the price, she came back and said that it was also 16.95, So my husband ordered that. When the bill came we were charged 43.95 for the catfish. We called the waitress over to ask about the price and she insisted that we didn't ask her about the catfish only the shrimp, which is stupid because the shrimp price is written clearly on the chalkboard to easily see. We asked to speak to the manager who looked us straight in the face and said that we were lying and that she had overheard the conversation which is a complete lie, she was no where near us when the conversation occurred. Visited Sudie's on a whim after a craving for seafood. On a Saturday, they have all you can eat shrimp. I ordered spicy, golden and my now favorite the coconut shrimp.
