I would give them 10 stars if I could. I love this place. It's been around awhile but I just discovered it through a friend. I drive 30 min to come just for their casseroles. All the baked goods have been fabulous as well. I've not yet had lunch in the cafe but the menu looks great and the place is always full of regulars. And the owner is the best!!! He's so friendly and helpful and kind. It's way of my regular beaten path but I come here once a month at least to grab a casserole or two. So worth the trip. read more

I found this bakery after I moved to the area because I needed a cake for a last minute shower I threw for a cousin. I didn't have a car available to go place the order myself but I was able to call in and get the order set up over the phone. Picked up the cake and looked exactly like I wanted it. Its a cute little bakery that has great cookies (I couldn't stop myself from buying some). They also have some fun lunch sandwiches/salads that I'm looking forward to try sometime soon. As a host of a baby shower one Saturday, I was responsible for the cupcakes. My favorite cupcake spot in Plano recently closed so I turned to Yelp so find a new spot to pick up the goodies. I visited Sugar and Spice on a Friday the week before the shower and selected my vanilla and red velvet flavored. The staff at the counter was friendly and helpful explaining what design they put on the cupcakes and how they would look. Later that week I called to add 6 more cupcakes to the order (late RSVP's) and it was no problem. The cupcakes came out cute and ready for me to pick up that Saturday. Placed a phone order and they had my pie ready to go when I got there. Price for the pies aren't bad either. It won't be as cheap as a Wal Mart pie, but it also won't taste as terrible. This place is adorable. It was my first time here. They sell sweets obviously and lunch type of items. I bought different types of cookies. I also bought a pumpkin pie. The cookies were delicious and the pumpkin pie was divine. The pie was $20. The cookies were .95cents each. This is a family establishment. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and attentive. While standing in line, I was told to step outside in the 95 degree heat because I was talking on the phone ( I was the third person in line)..even a suggestion to go around the corner to talk would have been courteous ..I was not on speaker phone...I was asking my grandson for his cookie preference. I have a huge sweet tooth. So this place was calling my name. The owners are and old sweet couple who've had this shop for quite a while. The cookies are probably one of my favorite and there prices are relatively cheap. I also enjoy there cake here especially the german chocolate cake super moist and not overly sweet. I had the vanilla birthday cake but the cake was super crummy and dry which was disappointing. We celebrated my son's 2 year old birthday party with his friends at preschool, and I was determined not to pump them full of sugary cupcakes. I've been on the hunt for a bakery to replace my beloved, but now defunct Bake Rejoice. While Sugar and Spice is not quite on the same level as Bake Rejoice, the cake I purchased was mighty tasty. I visited the store last Monday to order a birthday cake for my husband and picked it up on last Friday. The gentleman helping me, Jeremy, was very nice. He gave me a cupcake to sample since I previously had not had any of their products.. While they don't have the variety of cake flavors I had grown accustomed to at Bake Rejoice, for this purpose, they met our needs. They had a nice selection of pies, petit fours and cookies on display. I ordered a vanilla cake with strawberry butter cream frosting. The cake itself was a little more dense than I prefer, but it was flavorful. I'm trying to move on from Bake Rejoice and Sugar and Spice is helping me take baby steps in that direction. read more

I needed some baked goods for an office party, so I circled this intersection after an errand to the post office, just hoping to find a bakery. I spotted Sugar and Spice in an obscure strip mall on the northwest side of the intersection and went in to see what I could find. Wow. It's a cute homey little space with soup, sandwiches, and baked goods. The guy behind the counter was really nice and when he took an order he'd yell at the back, "Hey Mom, we need a _____", so it's obviously family owned. The case was filled with amazing looking pies and cakes and cupcakes and cake pops. There were about 10 women in the place getting lunch or pastries, and everyone was so enthusiastic about everything. I got a apple pecan pie that everyone at work absolutely raved over. Don't be fooled by this hole in the wall Bakery. I walked in and was iffy on this place since it was very small. Ordered the Tuna Salad on wheat toast and it was amazing. My friends got the Chicken Salad and did not complain either. The owners here are really sweet. Its a Mom and Pops place. Their tea is really good as well. I'm sorry, but I did not care for this place at all. It's called a bakery, so I'd expect the highlight to be the baked goods. I tried a chocolate cupcake, sugar cookie with buttercream frosting & a chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate cupcake had that decorative crystal sugar on the top, which isn't good to bite on. The cupcake itself was very average flavor - kind of like the consistency of a sheet cake. The chocolate chip cookie honestly tasted stale - I was hoping for a flavorful, moist and chewy cookie. The sugar cookie also taste stale - was actually crunchy to bite and the frosting was also a hard texture - this was so disappointing because buttercream frosting is normally my favorite. The portion was also very small for $1.75. I am a huge sweets fan and an particular about what I pay for and eat - this place did not impress me at all. It strikes me as recipes that would appeal more to a geriatric palate or take on desserts. I will stick to the cupcake shop in Lakeside at Preston & Spring Creek, which tastes incredible. read more

I was in the area last month and based on yelp I decided to stop over at this bakery to grab something for a dinner party later that evening. I grabbed the toll house pie for the party, a slice of the pecan pie, some cookies and a butterfinger cake. I thought everything was awesome except the butterfinger cake; though it was moist. The toll house pie is like a giant chocolate chip cookie, but thick like a pie (as the name implies :-p) and very delicious. The pecan pie was caramelized and scrumptious. The iced cookies were on the sweet side, which I love. The butterfinger cake was a butterscotch cake iced with mainly chocolate icing, over peanut butter and broken up butterfinger on top. Although I love butterfinger, chocolate and peanut butter I thought it was overwhelmingly butterscotch and not enough butterfinger to be called a butterfinger cake. I'll definitely be back soon for the toll house pie, the pecan pie and to try a cupcake. read more

I also bought a few slices of pie (apple and cherry). First of all, I'm not easy to impress being raised in a town with a fabulous family-owned bakery. I've never found a bakery that even comes close ... until now. The pie was scrumptious, both the apple and the cherry. The cupcakes were very good as well - the vanilla were my favorite.
