We ordered a peanut butter brownie and let Me tell you. It was Delicious!!! Gooey brownie filled with peanut butter chips topped with a peanut butter buttercream, I could eat that by the spoonful right out of the bowel..and then they topped that sucker with a peanut butter cup... it doesn't get more decadent then that... all I have to say to that is noms... you better go get you one or pick one of the sugary concoctions in their display case.. sugar has a little bit of everything in there. All of them look delicious unique and perfect To top all that off sugar is keen on the covid safety. They are a small shop so having customers come in would be too restricting, so they serve through a window right on the street... you can see the display case through the window.. their staff boxes up your treats, delivers right through the window where you can easily pay... I call that a win win win.... safety for everyone... additionally as it warms up you will be able to pick up some sugar... walk about a block and half to Washington park and enjoy while sitting in the beautiful sunshine mmmmmm mmmmm....I call that a pro tip! First time visiting Sugar and had a lovely experience! I love that it is a walk-up window in OTR - there was a small line when I arrived, but the weather was great so I did not mind the wait at all! I also enjoyed looking in the window while waiting and all the delicious cookies, cookie pies and cupcakes! When it was my time to order the woman working was super friendly. We also opted to get a red velvet chocolate chip cookie because they just looked so delicious and a cinnamon role (thanks Yelp!) We immediately ate our cookie and WOW - so rich and tasty! I stumbled upon Sugar by accident. My husband and I had just left from my facial on Walnut, and we walked over to Vine then to Race St. On the way, we walked right past Sugar. I love sweets so I told my husband to wait and we backed up. I said "oh this is something new", so we decided to go in. I'm glad we did. We were greeted by friendly, smiling faces who were eager to help. I assumed two of the three people were the owners. The lady working the counter told us the flavors and answered any questions we had. Yes, they have signs out but we had a question about one of the cupcake flavors. We ordered two cookies and two cupcakes. The cookies we ordered were the Oatmeal Raisin and the Oreo Chocolate Chip. Immediately, I appreciated that they gave us a combination that is different but familiar - Oreo Chocolate Chip. It's all about uniqueness. I like when I can come to a location and they give something different than what everyone else offers. Yes, just by adding Oreos gives a different profile. It's a simple move but smart. Both cookies were really good. They were the right portion, not to small and not to big. They were soft and chewy on the inside and had a slight crisp on the edges. Yum! I also liked how the Oatmeal Raisin cookie wasn't dry. Sometimes homemade Oatmeal Raisin Cookies can be dry. The cupcakes we ordered were the Strawberry Lemonade and the Red Velvet. I have to start by saying their cupcakes were very moist and their frosting was the perfect creaminess and consistency. I also give it to them because their Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake was the best Strawberry Lemonade cupcake I have tasted. They aced this flavor as far as flavor profile. The cupcake had a subtle strawberry flavor and the lemon frosting was perfect. You tasted just enough lemon without it being overpowering or to tart. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tart, so kiddos for that! The Red Velvet was actually pretty decent as well. The taste was good and the cream cheese frosting was a plus. My only complaint is their cupcakes are $3.25 each (before tax), and for this price I'd like to have seen them a tad bigger. An almost $4 cupcake at regular size is a little steep. I also have to say while they were pretty good, Abby Girl Sweets is still my favorite cupcakery in Cincinnati. Also, Abby Girl Sweets is slightly cheaper and has a slightly better cupcake. Sugar isn't far behind Abby Girl, but Sugar's cupcakes are not better than Abby Girl in my opinion. Overall, it was nice to see a new dessert shop pop up and I plan to come back. Considering they are right off of Vine and I frequent Vine often, I will return for more sweets and to try different flavors. read more

I am super picky about frosting and Sugar *gets it.* The cupcakes here are super fresh - no crusty icing or plasticy-tasting sugar decorations. I also really appreciate that they are asking customers to wear masks even ordering from the outside window. Andrea has the MOST PERFECT chocolate chip cookie ever! Crunchy at outer edges, soft in middle but still baked-not just goo like so many others I've tried. The Celebration size Birthday cake was the ideal way to commemorate my birthday and it was FULL of rainbow sprinkles. Dead on perfect cake. I don't know what else to say. Except Sugar has more than just cakes--cinnamon rolls, cookies, some sort of peanut butter and chocolate skillet cookie. All delicious. All worth enjoying. And currently you have to get it delivered! BEST COOKIES EVER. The cookies are huge. They are soft but crispy on the edges and not doughy. The plain sugar cookie is actually one of my favorites. It's just a great buttery sweet cookie. The breakfast cookie is really good too although I didn't really taste the espresso. The cookie sandwiches that are stuffed with frosting are also great. The frosting has a nice strong vanilla flavor. The cookie sandwich is really huge considering it uses two of the normal sized cookies. Definitely can eat on that for a couple days. I've been to Sugar once at their store and had these sweets delivered over the weekend as they are currently doing delivery only during COVID-19. When I went to the store, both sales associates (one I believe to be the owner) were very welcoming. I ordered two cupcakes which were very tasty. This time, I had a 5:00pm delivery and the individual dropped it to my door at 5:00 exactly and called me to let me know they dropped it off at the door, so it was contactless. My boyfriend and I shared the birthday cake yesterday as it was huge. The cookie was so moist and tasty. It was baked exactly how I prefer my cookies to be baked and we'll be ordering more cookies very soon. The banana pudding was exceptional and quite possibly the best banana pudding I've had. I tried their cinnamon roll. It was not too sweet, and very fresh. Pleasant and creamy. Would have loved to have been able to walk in and get a coffee, or tea or something to drink. (Had to go to Holtmans to get my coffee!) When taking my order they cracked the window about one inch so was difficult to shout through a pain of glass. I kind of felt like covid and the sun glare on the window kept the customer service element of connection out of the equation. I was hoping for a bigger experience, especially having just paid $8.00 to park just to walk up to a window for service. I would say work on that aspect because the food is legit. I came here for the Yelp Elite perk and I was really happy with the stuff we got!! I was initially a bit confused about the set up - it is a window that you walk up to instead of going inside the establishment. This made it a bit hard to see what they had and see the names and the products that they had. We got two of the sugar cookies with icing and one of the cinnamon rolls and they were all very well-loved in my house! I'm always a sucker for cookies with icing and this was definitely more elevated than something you would get at the big chain cookie establishments. The icing tasted like a cream cheese icing and it was very thick and the perfect in-between of a soft cookie but still cooked through. Sugar is a small bakery that recently opened in OTR. Most may not know about it because it's on a side street (14th) but luckily I saw promotions for their opening on social media and also was told their cupcakes were really good!
