I had been waiting for an opportunity to check out Sugarbeet for quite some time. I drive past it so often and always saw the amazing reviews on Yelp. A good opportunity came up to celebrate with family and have what I had hoped would be a special meal. Sadly, I was very underwhelmed with Sugarbeet in many aspects. First, the food was very subpar which is a great disappointment given the high pricetag. The Sizzling Shrimp appetizer was nothing more than small shrimp swimming in mildly warm oil. It could have been better if the oil was at least a flavorful olive oil, but it tasted more like a canola or vegetable oil. The Rack of Lamb and Scallop entrees were cold and lacking flavor. The Scallop entree did not seem fresh and carried an unwanted fishy flavor. Second, it was pretty loud in the dinning room which made conversation difficult. The tables were packed in to the point that you'd be bumped with a chair of someone at a surrounding table as they got up to leave or visit the restroom. Lastly, the service was spotty and completely forgot one of our appetizers. I do not enjoy writing negative reviews, but I had a difficult time seeing any positives to my dinning experience at Sugarbeet. I do not plan on returning and wouldn't recommend it to others. read more

My husband and I stopped in to Sugarbeet on 6/16 for an early dinner. We were headed back to Thornton after being north of Fort Collins much of the afternoon. We hadn't been to Sugarbeet for sometime, and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. I had the Hawaiian Ahi Tuna, my husband had the Pappardelle. Prior to our main courses we shared the Charcuterie plate and the Beet Salad. Both were outstanding. Our dinners were 5-star. Portions were much more than we would have expected, and we both took home some left overs. We each had a glass of Pinot Noir with our dinner. We shared the Key Lime pie for dessert. This was so tasty, very light and creamy. Along with this excellent meal, we had excellent service. Attention to detail for the table and our dining needs was stellar. Sugarbeet has always been one of our favorites, and it continues to be so. read more

My husband and I came to Sugarbeet for our anniversary last week and we couldn't have been happier with our experience. We received complimentary champagne for our anniversary upon arrival and everything we ate from there was absolutely delicious! My husband got the rack of lamb and I got the salmon for our entree. Their special for an appetizer and a chocolate dessert that was perfect. Our server and who I presume to be the owner/manager were great, very friendly and attentive. Just how far from your metro area would you drive for a truly great dining experience? Or take time to drop off the main highway during an "inter-state" journey? Don't answer, JUST DOIT. Sugarbeet is an absolute gem - in Longmont or anywhere. The decor is midscale (lupscale but leaning more to comfortable and homey), the service skilled and smooth, and the food? Unique in its ingredients, special in its construction, beautiful in its presentation, and delectable in its taste. Bistro style with a farm-to-table bent and blending American, Asian, Tuscan, and French influences. We ordered two starters: cured salmon (rich and smooth) and carrots and cauliflower with a beet purée (crispy and savory). Beets are becoming one of my favorite ingredients, by the way, and Sugarbeet's use of them did not disappoint. Mains were ahi tuna with large medallions seared perfectly, mouthwatering my tender rack of lamb , bistro steak with killer potato wedges, and a beautiful pappardelle pasta dish. When dessert arrived, we found the only downside of the entire meal - not enough ice cream with the apple tart to share among our party of five! The key lime tart was sublime, so that made up for it. Absolutely superb in every way. So glad we found this unassuming gem off the beaten path in Longmont. We had a glass of champagne and some very nice fresh oysters to start. I had some questions about the wine list- which is no less than fantastic, so it was really down to five bottles I had narrowed it to (and I am certain I could not have gone wrong- the list is really that good). Our excellent server introduced one of the owners, who is a sommelier. We had a lively, enjoyable chat and made a decision. My companion had a perfectly prepared flatiron steak and fluffy potatoes, which she loved. I had seared tuna with a wasabi foam and could not have been happier. Deluxe. We shared a great dessert. Everything was impeccable- ingredients, execution, service. Seriously one of the best meals I have had on the entire Front Range- the State, even. It will be a pleasure to return. read more

This is our new favorite restaurant in Longmont. My wife and I have been here 4 times in the last couple of months, and they have consistently delivered very high quality, inspired food and fantastic service. I have had the filet mignon a couple of times and it is sheer perfection. I have also tried the risotto a couple of times, once with Duck Confit, and once just on its own. I don't usually order risotto out. I find that I'm often disappointed. Not the case at this place; it was absolutely wonderful. For dessert I have had the Apple Tarte Tatin Roulade, and it was sooooo good. My wife had the key lime pie, which I will never understand. But she said it was excellent too. I should mention that they have a top notch wine list, with a good balance of old and new world, as well as many excellent bottles very reasonably priced. Great work, guys! Keep it up. read more

A group of four of us went in a few days ago (early August 2021). We have been there once before, several years ago. Everything was good with one exception, my wife's entree. It was a risotto, but it seemed underseasoned and low on flavor from the featured ingredient. We encouraged her to say something, and the waitress handled it perfectly. She selected another entree from the menu, which they expedited out to her. She was very pleased with the replacement entree. The group had a few cocktails, appetizers, specials, menu entrees, and a couple desserts. Everything with the one exception was very good and balanced. Very good experience from the service to the taste of the food. The rack of lamb was nice and thick! The chocolate cake dessert was out of this world! Wow, just wow. Knockout 5 course dinner and everything was amazing . The original Beetropolis cocktail was really tasty. I would double the mint. SIPS 4/5 The squash corn fritters were a flavor explosion of harmony with the blackberry sauce. Can you order these by the dozen? SAVOR- 5/5 The wine list is amazing and shows that volume does not equal quality. Amazing Burgundy choices for this non urban locale. I watched the bartender execute flawless techniques for hours. I made reservations (out of state) for my stepdad's birthday. He & my mom had the best time. The food was incredible & they spoke highly of the whole restaurant & the service. The staff were even able to accommodate my paying for dinner over the phone so that my parents didn't have to worry about the bill. Fine dining in a quiet location tucked away slightly southwest of downtown Longmont. Great food and great service whenever we visit.

Food is overpriced. Some dishes, like a recent risotto. Were sub-par. Service is good, ambiance ok.

While in Longmont, Co visiting friends, my husband and I searched for a good area steakhouse and Sugarbeet popped up on the radar. This place is definitely what we call a hidden gem. We made a reservation at 7, but arrived early and were promptly seated. The service was excellent. Jennifer was knowledgeable and very attentive. We ordered oysters and caprisi salad as appetizers and they were both delicious. My husband and i both ordered the filet mignon and i asked for a modification. The owner, Ari, was kind enough to stop at out table to confirm the modification and to offer alternatives. His suggestions were spot on and everything was perfect. A wonderful fine dining experience. I definitely recommend the baklava as a dessert. It was the grand finale to a fabulous meal. read more

Ignore the reviews from people who don't show up on time, don't call and get upset their table is given away. Considerate thing to do for any restaurant is if you are going to be late at all, call and let them know. Don't expect them to hold a table for you, if you aren't on time for your reservation. On a busy night, you are lucky to get seated at all without a wait, if you are a no call / no show. We've been to Sugarbeet many times and have had to change our reservation times, because we were running late, and never an issue. We moved to Longmont in No ember of 2020 and several people have told us we must try Sugarbeet. On Wednesday, to celebrate our anniversary, we finally made it. The experience did not disappoint. From the minute we walked in, we received a warm welcome as the host showed us to our table. We started with each getting a craft cocktail. The Beetropolis was so fresh and delicious, I could have had another but didn't. We both had the beet salad with goat cheese, and loved it. One of the specials was a cold corn gazpacho soup that I just had to try and I'm glad I did, it was fresh and delicious with just the right amount of spice. For our entrees, I had risotto with wild gulf shrimp. A perfectly cooked risotto- creamy and delicious. My partner had the salmon and also was very pleased. We complimented our meal with a bottle of Caymus Cab. Lastly, the owner sent us a chocolate truffle dessert that didn't stand a chance. It was so lovely and we ate every last crumb. Throughout the evening we had the most wonderful server who made sure our every want was granted. We will absolutely be back to dine at Sugarbeet. read more

So disappointed in our last Sugarbeet experience. Took our Son & daughter in law for her birthday. The filet mignon had a very odd texture and the so called Sea bass was fishy tasting not like any SeaBass we've made ourselves. The appetizers were fancy looking but not very flavorful. A cold duck egg with cold asparagus? Very odd. We have had such wonderful experiences there in the last couple years so we were very surprised with this last one on 2-12-22 At those kinda prices we wish we'd gone Downtown Denver to Capital Grill. My husband and I visited Sugarbeet for the first time on Valentine's Day, and we both felt that the time spent there wasn't us merely having dinner, it was an "experience" we will be raving about for a long time. We had a reservation, and were greeted at the door by the hostesses, I was given a rose, and we were seated. For Valentine's Day, they had a four course special menu. I had Panko Crusted Camembert, which was smaller than I expected (but completely fine). It was drizzled with fruit preserves and was absolutely decadent. My husband had the crab cakes, which were very meaty and rivaled the best ones he has ever had right beside the ocean. For our second course, I had the Hazel Dell Mushroom Soup. I like the flavor of mushrooms, but not necessarily the texture. This was absolutely smooth and creamy. It's also gluten free. This soup was absolutely mind blowing. We are returning in May for our first wedding anniversary, and I truly hope to see it on the menu. Our third course was the main, I had rack of lamb, along with my husband. It was my first time having lamb, other than inside a gyro. It was perfectly tender and delicious. I would definitely recommend it. Fourth and final course, their deserts were beautiful. I don't remember which ones we had now, it's been a while. Mine was a caramel dome of some sort. It was amazing. Listen up! This place was amazing. My mom took us here for my birthday tonight and we were expecting it to be slightly tired, maybe a bit dated. But everything was amazing! A very nice find just off the main drag in Longmont. The whole experience was excellent. Drinks were very good, I have a couple of their vanilla old fashions. Apps were really great. Fried green tomato was made with heirlooms, Charcuterie plate, Shaved roasted Brussels sprouts, and a nice heirloom mozzarella basil with balsamic glaze. Bone in pork chop was really good. Cooked medium. On a bed of nice carrots and polenta. Friend had the hanger steak and it looked fantastic. I'm getting that next time. read more

Although this place is in a really awkwardly placed location, not fitting with the upscale atmosphere, the place is worth a visit. The bacon wrapped dates and daily featured soup were delicious. The soup was a tomato dill gazpacho with sour cream and avocado, which was refreshing and salsa-like. The portions were very generous! All of the gluten free items are clearly marked, and there is a good selection to choose from. For dinner, my boyfriend and I shared the BBQ pork ribs, and got a heaping plate of two racks covered in a spicy sauce, with a side of pork n beans and coleslaw. The best part of that dish were the pork n beans, as the ribs were a little dry and the sauce was too spicy for my liking. The coleslaw was unimpressive, but the cabbage tasted fresh, as did all of the produce in all of the dishes. The drink selection is not vast, and one of the cocktails was way too sweet, like liquid blackberry jam, but their wine selection is nice and next time Ill stick to wine. I definitely want to return, try happy hour and some of the other mains and maybe dessert if not too full. Its nice to see an upscale restaurant actually serve generous portions-the dishes are worth the price-tag. This really is a well-hidden gem in an awful part of Longmont! read more

My wife and I love this place when we are looking for somewhere a bit more upscale for a special occasion. The service is always friendly and solid. Some upscale restaurants have a stereotypically snooty or reserved feel and I've always appreciated that the servers at Sugarbeet don't act like that. Also, while the prices are upscale, the portions aren't disappointing. Too many times I've gone to a pricier place and the server brings me something I could finish in five bites and I just paid $30 for it. Sugarbeet has reasonable portions. But the best part is that they don't sacrifice quality and deliciousness and creativity to get to reasonable portions. I've never been dissatisfied with any dish I've ordered at Sugarbeet. We'll continue to eat here. read more
