Oh my gosh, Daylyn made me feel so safe and comfortable right off the bat, from the very moment she greeted me. She is one of the coolest people I ever met, and so professional and great at what she does, you can tell she cares about her clients and this shows in how safe she makes you feel once you are in that room and completely vulnerable. I was expecting PAIN, because it's been a while since I shaved or sugared ... a while, like Chewbacca status. Daylyn and I immediately connected she is so intentional about it too, to where I was completely distracted and forgot about it completely, it was so fast, and I didn't feel any pain at all. This was a seamless, easy, comfortable experience and I can't recommend Daylyn enough, she was incredible, and I look forward to seeing her again. They have always had the latest and (most important to me) impeccably clean sunbeds. The newest beds are spectacular and look like they are from a spaceship; some are by Porsche Design, have Bluetooth, advanced air cooling and multi-lamp systems. It seemed so futuristic back then and they still operate all the most cutting edge tanning equipment. Uvasun was always a little more expensive than the other local tanning salons. I see on their website that they now offer to price-match salons within a 5-mile radius on comparable services except spray tans. In addition to state-of-the-art tanning beds and sunless spray tans they also have light therapy, infrared sauna therapy and body contouring with red and infrared light. It's still located in the same nice and modern building on 3rd street. Their hours are Monday to Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am-5pm.

That loyalty made my most recent visit all the more disappointing. I had a 10:50am appointment. The day before, Felicia texted asking if I could push to 11am. I said I'd try to rearrange my plans. She replied: "let's keep the 10:45." I managed to move things around (because if she was asking, I figured she was in need, and I wanted to help) and arrived at 10:57 -- 7 minutes late by the original booking, not 15. When I walked in, Felicia told me I was 15 minutes late. I explained I'd rearranged my schedule to accommodate her request. She shrugged and said "too bad, I already booked someone afterwards.". It wasn't until I was in the room that I checked the reminder email -- original appointment: 10:50. So by her own scheduler, I was 7 minutes late, not 15. Felicia eventually gave me an extra 5 minutes to make up for the mix-up, and I appreciated that. But the cold, dismissive way she started the appointment stayed with me. That's not how you treat someone who's followed you for 15 years. Part of why I see Felicia specifically -- and not one of those high-volume places with curtain walls and hospital beds for tables (you know the ones) -- is the whole experience. A facial should be calming and restorative, and Felicia's warmth has always been as much a part of that as her technique. When that warmth disappeared at the door, it colored everything that followed. The facial itself was top notch. Felicia is genuinely skilled, stays current on products and techniques, and can deliver a top-notch treatment in her sleep. I hope this was an off day, because the person that greeted me at the door was not the warm person that I've been loyal to for a decade and a half.

His name is Mason and you can easily contact him if you have a question or query. Mason is always going the extra mile to give his customers the newest things on the horizon, whether they are UV/Red Light/Spray Tanning related or not. For a while he had things to make my teeth look nice and whiter. Heck I've even bought cool Vintage Clothes for my girlfriend there. The things he sells in his front area are always way more reasonable than if you got them at a specialty shop further down Melrose Ave, too. Melrose Tanning Co is clean. The bulbs are fresh. The employees are always cool and relaxed. And the prices are highly reasonable. They're dog friendly, and kid friendly too. It's just a really nice local business that one hopes will last forever. It was my first time trying infrared therapy and overall a really nice experience. They don't take appointments for the sauna, so I called ahead and then walked in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They quickly went over the logistics and safety information before bringing me to the room, where the temperature was already set and the light was on. They also had a robe laid out and ready. I stayed in for about 30 minutes, though I believe the maximum session is around 45 minutes. The experience was very relaxing and felt less intense than a traditional sauna. It creates more of a gradual internal heat rather than the heavy, suffocating feeling that can come with standard saunas. I'd definitely do it again.
