My boyfriend and I love this franchise, and this was our second time visiting this location. Our first experience was great, but this visit felt very different. We noticed a new employee being trained by an older female employee. Throughout our visit, she repeatedly spoke to him in a way that came across as harsh and disrespectful, saying things like, "You're doing it wrong" and "Don't you remember?" "Who taught you this" It felt more like public scolding than training, her tone and the employee looked visibly embarrassed. The way she went about teaching was unprofessional and shows a bad image to the brand. The food was great, but when we asked about getting extra corn flakes, the new employee checked with her, and she responded, "It's not free, you need to charge here" and she stops what she's doing and gets in front of him and puts the amount on the iPad and walked away for him to do it. I immediately said forget it. Our issue was never about paying for the extra topping, we completely understand additional items may cost extra. It was the way she spoke to him in front of customers that felt unnecessary. We also noticed a similar tone when another customer asked for a bag for a Togo trip and she said you have to pay for the bag. Visited Sul & Beans on a busy weekend afternoon on a super hot day and this is by far one of the best shaved ice/bingsoo shops around. Located in a huge plaza by the 60 freeway in Rowland, parking can be a bit stressful here but there's plenty of people going in and out at all times. There's also underground parking for convenience. Best part is the parking is free although parking spaces are a bit tight compared to your usual parking lots. Inside is very well maintained, moderate amount of seating and somewhat spacious as well. This time around, we ordered one of our favorite bingsoo, the Strawberry Cheese Bingsoo! (Took about 5 minutes for the order to be ready which is pretty fast considering how busy it was.) If you want something fresh, savory, and sweet, this is the perfect bingsoo to get. Filled with fresh strawberries, and topped with plentiful of tangy cheesecake, it's the absolute perfection between sweet & chewy. Strawberries were fresh & very ripe, perfect in season and definitely cut to perfect bite size. Portions are big which makes it perfect as a shareable dish. One of the most refreshing bingsoos around. It's also worth to mention that this location compared to the KTOWN one is a bit smaller, less tables but quality is just as good, if not the same as KTOWN location. I loved the way how they packed my Bingsoo, in a cooler bag with an ice pack that was actually FROZEN (vs other places that give u this option in a regular plastic bag and in the summer it melts almost immediately). The taste of the bingsoo was phenomenal, but that day I had to try the Berry one instead of the Mango one cause they told me it was seasonal. I enjoyed it on one of those not really unusual hot days in SoCal where its a woopin' 95 degrees while the rest of the country is buried in snow. Other than that, the facility is always nice and clean . They have great tasting fresh water immersed with fruit for guest, a decent restroom, and surprisingly a spacious size place. The flavors that I chose were nutella, custard, matcha custard and of course hotteok (after all this is why I came here for!)
