Beyond excellent my thanksgiving heroes. I had a nail in my tire. They fixed it no charge as it had been worked on prior in Augusta me last summer. But they provided me with free uber to and from my home nearby so I could finish my Thanksgiving prep day before the holiday. I was able to travel to and from springfield my family home knowing my tire was fixed. I felt seen competently cared for and appreciated as a repeat customer. Yesterday I realized that two of my tires were damaged and had to be repaired immediately. Sullivan Tire fit me into their schedule immediately, and I was back on the road within a few hours. Because I had gotten insurance on my tires (which I had bought from the same store), it didn't cost me a cent. Angelica Duran (the store manager) was knowledgeable, efficient, and personable. Have used this place the last few years but they have gone downhill. Most recently tried to tell me my AWD car needed two new tires (which you would never just replace two on an AWD vehicle!) and when I took my vehicle elsewhere I was told there was nothing wrong with my tires. The guys at Sullivan tire always do a good job. I was referred to the Sullivan Tire chain by my uncle, and have not been let down in any of the locations. This was my first time to the Somerville location, and I was pleased. Though I don't like seeing labour costs on a big service be more than a few hundred dollars, it's understandable. I also asked about a reliable Body Shop, and the man at check out was up front and said he had not been in Boston long enough to know, to to check back the next day with the manager. To preface, I've never written a Yelp review before. SUMMARY: got two tires replaced here, they won't hold air, company refuses to make it right and is telling me the problem doesn't exist. I got my front tires replaced here, went home for the holidays, and came back to find that the front tires were visually very deflated, tire pressure 10 psi when it should be 30. I filled the tires back up twice, but after a few days each time, the tires were deflated again to about 15 psi. This was only on the two tires replaced by Sullivan, and had never been a problem until I got serviced by them. The manager refused to make this right and would not admit that this was an issue caused by tire replacement. They kept saying it's the cold weather, but cold weather doesn't cause the pressure to drop this much and it doesn't only affect the front tires. The manager was extremely condescending and kept telling me that tires get flat when it's cold. Worse, not only did they not fix the problem, they charged me again to replace the valve stem on one of the tires. That can't be the issue, both front tires are losing air and did not have this issue before taking my car here. read more

Let me start by saying I've been coming here for all my maintenance and repairs for years, and have spent thousands of dollars this year alone. That's where the bad review starts. For the past six months, major repair needs were popping up one after the other (sometimes recurring problems I'd already had them address). Okay, so it's an older car, maybe it's just suddenly starting to spectacularly fall apart. But these fixes were all extremely expensive--I'd be bringing it in once every month or two, and usually each bill was over $1000. I really should have taken it elsewhere for a second opinion sooner. But they'd been so good in the past, I was willing to trust! I finally started to lose trust when it became clear how disorganized everything has become at this location. Every time I talked to someone I had to explain whatever was going on with my car as if for the first time. Nobody seemed to be communicating with their colleagues, or even keeping notes on my file. Employee turnover seemed to have picked up, so maybe that was part of it, but communication--both internal and client-facing--was abysmal. Several times in the last couple months alone, I dropped off my car, received no updates all day, then arrived at 5pm to learn that the person who was supposed to be working on my car left early and nothing was done. The single ray of light was Mel, who did her best to help when A. nobody took notes or communicated about my car and B. figure out why I was having to come in multiple times for the same problems. This week, after receiving another estimate for over $1100, I decided to visit another local mechanic with great reviews. They've just quoted me $450 for the same job and an oil change. So yeah, I feel angry, foolish, and taken advantage of. It's for sure partly my fault for not leaving sooner. I don't know what's going on right now with Sullivan, but I would no longer recommend them to anybody for anything. read more

This is the second time I've brought my car to this location - first for an oil change, second because there was a decent amount under the hood that needed replacing. Both times I've spoken with Javi directly. Javi is awesome - very upfront about timelines and worked with me to ensure I could collect my car after hours, and he has a really great energy about him. Taking one star off because the person answering phones (Mel I believe) has hung up on me twice now, and the one time I did get to chat with her when she was scheduling an appointment for me she never actually made the appointment, so I made an unnecessary drive to the shop. I have been to this Sullivan twice and have had lovely experiences. Mel Baxter helped fix a flat tire in such a timely way, and another technician (I believe the manager of the Newton location) changed my headlight bulb and refilled my coolant. Don't go here!! Especially if you're a young girl!! Everyone seemed friendly and helpful when I went in after popping a tire. I had gotten another flat weeks earlier, so I didn't have a spare. I knew I'd need a whole new tire for the popped one, but I also asked them to take a look at my other flat tire to see if it could be fixed. They had quoted my new tire + labor at about $230. When they called me later, they said my other flat tire needed to be replaced entirely too and started listing off a whole bunch of other things that needed fixing (lights, sensors, etc.). They quoted me at well over $600. Luckily, I've almost been scammed by far too many sleazy car places, so I asked for just the one tire. Nothing else. My dad took a look at my other flat tire today, and unsurprisingly I did not need a new one. It just had a faulty valve. Our mechanic fixed it for $25. It's absolutely crazy to me that these people see a young girl who doesn't know much about cars and their first thought is to lie and try to scam her. I'm so tired of this. read more

Ihave a regular mechanic I love, so don't get car repairs done there, but for all tire-related stuff they're great and have helped out in a pinch with emergency windshield wipers, broken tire valve, brake light out etc. Fantastic customer service. read more

Came here to buy a single tire for my car to pass inspection. they sold one to me while others wouldn't a "good year"employee refused to sell one to me. Came here for a alignment on my Mercedes they took my car in saw a messed up tierod end showed me the messed up tierod end and explained that a alignment would be a waste of money and with no charge did that for me I was able to go back to the shop that recently did it and they fixed what they did wrong. Recently had A/C issues and was told a new compressor was needed ($700.00). A/C had same exact issues a few months after this and was told another $1100.00 condenser was needed. I took the car to a family owned shop in Somerville and discovered issue had *nothing* to do with either the compressor or the condenser, and the issue was fixed for far less. Simple repairs and tire patching always book a week or more out. Service appointments get cancelled because the one specialist they have is out and they don't tell you until the day of the appointment, screwing up your schedule. The convenience factor is there, but given how many redo appointments I've had and how often I'm booked too far out, this is just too much to take. I'm going with the two brothers in Union Sq from now on, they are always friendly and see me the same day. read more

First booked an appointment online for 9A. I received an email saying that someone from Sullivan would reach out to me to confirm. I then get a second email that my appointment window is 10A - 12P. I plan to stay while they do my inspection and oil change but when I get there at 10A, they said "we don't make appointments. You'll need to leave your car and come back later when we call you". I then had to spend $40 on Lyfts to get to work and then to get back to Sullivan when they were done with my car. What's the point of making an appointment? read more

My wife and I live across the street from Sullivan Tire so naturally we've brought our car there many times due to the convenience factor. There have been 2 recent incidents that have "put me over the edge" and I will never go back there. First, I brought my car in for an inspection in the winter. I was told that my battery was weak and I needed a new one because they told me "You don't want to not be able to start your car in the winter." That made sense so I paid for a brand new battery which they installed. One week later, I tried to start my car on a cold morning and the car WOULD NOT START!!! So much for that great battery they put in. I walked across the street and told Kevin, the manager about it. He honestly didn't seem to be too concerned. I asked for someone to come across the street and jumpstart the car. They sent a technician and he went across the street and couldn't figure out what was wrong. He seemed surprised when he saw a brand new battery NOT WORKING. After half an hour, we finally got it started. But a brand new battery should not stall within a week! Recently, I brought in my wife's car for an oil change. There was a message on the dashboard that said "WASHER FLUID LOW." Since Sullivan Tire says that their oil changes include checking and replacing ALL fluids, I didn't mention it. Plus, I knew they would see it when they brought the car in the garage. Needless to say, when I picked up my car, I turned it on and what do you know but it said WASHER FLUID LOW. I went back in and talked to Kevin about it. Again, he really didn't seem to care much. He said he'd check it out. Sure enough, the washer fluid was not checked or filled. He filled it and said "he would talk to his technician" but he didn't apologize or seem concerned at all. I guess stuff like this happens ALL THE TIME. My wife was concerned to hear this and wondered whether they had done other parts of the oil change. We asked for our money back and we spoke on the phone with them later. They promised to call us back again and never did. If Sullivan Tire is across the street from me and I'll never go again, I'd recommend that regardless of the convenience, you find another auto shop. read more

Had break service at the Somerville location. After a few days noticed rear chrome rims were coated in brown dust. Went back to shop and clerk tells me they don't install genuin parts, so I'm guessing they install cheap parts and charged me for genuin ones. Clerk came back and said Manager would replace with geniun parts but I would need to pay the difference. For what I spent you should be using genuin parts not cheap ones, and not suggesting I pay more to fix your screwup. Customer satsfaction and retention is not in their mission statment. dropped my car off 4/19 to get a seasonal tire swap for $120. took it to another shop to get an alignment and they told me that the tires that were put back on by sullivan were basically trashed due to dry rot, which was shocking to me as i had just driven to brooklyn and back in the same day and endangered myself and my passenger by driving on tires that were unsafe. was it my fault for not checking the state of the tires? sure, but i wasn't expecting them to deteriorate so quickly after only 2 years and 30k miles so it didn't even occur to me. sullivan should've absolutely called me and told me that the tires were unsafe, and not charged me $120 to put on shit tires. i went back to the shop saturday 4/27 around 3pm. the guy i spoke to (longish hair, tattoos) was the same guy who helped me on 4/19. as soon as i walked in, he knew what was wrong. he admitted to me that he was the one who serviced my car and that he should've called me to suggest buying new tires, but he neglected to. i was ready to buy a new set of tires if sullivan was willing to waive the alignment or the installation fee for the new set. they agreed, but the manager who was working that day told me to go through nokian and try and see if i can file a warranty claim. fine. i called nokian, nokian told us that it wasn't the consumers responsibility to start the claim. we called sullivan to tell them that. they started getting grumpy. whatever, maybe kevin (the person who we mostly dealt with) was having a rough day or just annoyed at us for whatever reason. we told kevin about the agreement we had with the manager we spoke to on 4/27 around 3pm to waive the installation fee and he basically scoffed at us? lol, okay no problem. i'm grateful that javi and kevin were willing to work with us and help us with the claim because the shop we bought the tires from is no longer in business, but i'm incredibly frustrated that i was charged $120 to put on trashed tires to begin with and more frustrated that the agreement that we had was thrown out the window. all in all, i probably won't be taking my car back here. the way kevin projected his shit onto us as customers wasn't necessary. we were just trying to do what we thought was right with the information that was provided to us by nokian (as suggested by an employee), but instead had to deal with the brunt of whatever internal conflicts they were experiencing whether personally or just a general disdain for the tire company. the only reason i continued w/ sullivan is because they charged me to put on bad tires, they were an authorized nokian dealer (important for the claim, obviously) and i was hoping they'd make it right by not charging labor for installation of new tires. i work in service, i understand people are shit, but to my understanding we weren't rude at all. i wasn't even mad when i went back into the shop on saturday 4/27, was just looking for an explanation. the communication issues between each member of staff i spoke to there to fix this problem was insane. we were basically told by kevin that because we don't know who we spoke to on 4/27 that the agreement couldn't be honored. how does that even make sense? y'all don't have a work schedule to reference or cameras in the store? i'd also like to mention that the vehicle inspection report they hand you every time they service your car stated *nothing* was wrong with my tires, only that i needed an alignment. so does sullivan really do the work they say they're doing? who knows, all i know is that if i hadn't taken my car elsewhere to get an alignment, i'd still be driving on unsafe tires unbeknownst to me due to self proclaimed negligence from the person who helped me on 4/19. unreal. if you value your sanity and don't want to be made to feel like you're stupid for trying to do something the right way, go elsewhere and find an independent shop because these chains do not care at all. read more

My car had the engine light on i took it to Sullivan tire and auto services on beacon street, Cambridge near Start Market i spoke to the guy inside if he could help look at my car because my engine light was on he said no maybe on Wednesday, I thought fair enough i have no appointment i left..i was worried driving around with the light on so i drove to Somerville Ave and noticed 'Aris Auto' right opposite the car wash ... i found one old guy on the phone he told me they don't have time but he 'will check it out and see if it's safe to drive ' his exact words he went in got his thing asked for my keys and within 2 mins he told me i was all set. the relief i had i asked how much and he said nothing i was so happy. i got to work and here comes the ad for Sullivan Tire and Auto service in this Ad there's a child and all this nice things of how they can help and to think they couldn't spare 2 mins to see if my car was safe to drive . Sullivan tire has cost me thousands of work on my car. I mistakenly brought my car here after my car was struggling to get out of second gear. Instead of fixing the issue they claimed they could not find, they told me there was 1,200 dollars of other work to do on my brand new hyundia... Wanting to keep me and my family safe I said do the work. After spending a thousand plus dollars, I brought my car on the highway and I have never been more scared for my life. My car was SWERVING and SHAKING at an unbelievable rate. I brought it back and they said they put in a defective sway bar. How did they not know or even test the car after the work. So not only did they not fix the problem I brought it in for, they charged me a grand to make my car unsafe. They never did fix the problem and had to go to the dealership. read more

Terrible place. Fixed our tire & somehow also removed our oil cap (didn't ask for or get any engine work) & left oil cap off. I live in Methuen and commute to somerville for my job. So I do a large amount of driving on the highway and he understands that concern and is honest about the functionality of the car to be able to drive safely. Terrible service, rude, and I will not be going back for tire services or buy new tires from them again. Made an online appointment for State Inspection, Oil changed, Tires rotated, balanced, and aligned. I purchased 4 new tires from them with Peace of Mind Package, 5000 miles ago. My wife brought the car in as scheduled and the guy said, they don't do State Inspections and that the website is wrong. He also said that he'll rotate the tires but since it is new, we don't need to have it balanced or aligned. He refused to do the work we signed up for and asked for. Even though we had an appointment, changing oil and rotating tires w/o alignment took 4 hours! Terrible service, rude, and I will not be going back for tire services or buy new tires from them again. Wow, lots of negative reviews here. I just wanted to say they've always been nice to me and done good work. I have a "daily driver" car and a summer fun car and I get most of the work they need done here. They've applied coupons for service even when I forgot the little card from the mail, or when I forgot to check online. I took my (very dirty) summer fun car out of storage yesterday and practically limped it to their shop to get the brakes fixed and a few other maintenance things. The price came in around where I expected. What I didn't expect is that my car would be freshly washed when I returned to pick it up. It's not part of what they normally do, but they know I love the car and since today was absolutely gorgeous, that I'd want to drop the top and go for a spin. WARNING TO ALL POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS! STAY AWAY! I was extremely disappointed with the service I received today. I was extorted into buying new wiper blades when I came in for a safety inspection. I received a call approximately 1 hour after my car was dropped off for a safety inspection. Kevin Carlow (assistant manager) said I needed to buy new wiper blades or my car was to be rejected for safety inspection because my blades were "streaky". I've never heard of this, and was across the street so came over immediately to see. Despite hanging up the phone less than 2 minutes prior, somehow my wiper blades were already changed and my car was out of the inspection bay and parked across their lot. Hm... I asked to see the old blades, which were not damaged in any way. Kevin agreed they were not damaged, but insisted that they were streaky (questionable, since I've driven the car in the rain the last week and had no issues) and pulled out the MA inspection manual. 6 reasons per Ch3 - 92 (Massachusetts Vehicle Check Commercial Vehicle Training Guide, 1st Edition 2008). This is the book he pulled out to prove I needed to buy new wipers. The reasons are listed as follows: 1. windshield wiper power unit inoperative 2. wipers do not properly operate 3. wiper blades not properly contacting windshield 4. wiper blades not the same length as originally furnished equipment 5. rubber elements are damaged or torn 6. windshield wiper cleaning equipment (sprayer) not manitained in good working order. Kevin agreed that no individual line item of these reasons was the reason, but kept saying "in critical viewing area". I allowed him to frantically flip through the book with his hands shaking as if he knew he was caught in a lie, to find that term and he came across it in an unrelated section saying if there is a crack in your windshield in a critical viewing area that is a reason for rejection. But nothing related to wipers. I don't really care about the $40 extra I had to spend for wiper blades, I am simply disgusted with the shady business practice of extorting customers to buying things they don't need "or else" they'll fail me for a state inspection sticker. I had a similar incident a month or so ago when I got a tire replaced. I was charged for a $30 or $40 warranty on the tire which I was never asked if I wanted, just tacked onto the bill and I didn't notice until after I had left. I ignored this incident, but will not be ignoring the pattern of serial overcharging and shady business practice. I will be reporting this incident to the Better Business Bureau and providing negative reviews on Yelp/Facebook to warn other potential customers, and never take my vehicle back to what is the most convenient location because of the terrible service, questionable business practice, and particularly the unprofessional way in which Kevin handled my complaint. A close friend of my husband & I had brought his vehicle to get a Front End Alignment. The mechanic checked his vehicle out and told him he needs roughly $800 worth of front end work done, that was parts & labor included. Really !!!! he just had that work done this past week. Smart man that he is took it elsewhere & the alignment was completed !!! read more

Customer service here is terrible. It was like pulling teeth to get answers out of them about what was wrong with my car. Front of the house staff do not know how to communicate what the mechanics tell them. I've been here several times with the same experience each time.
