I attended a special BBQ Master Class and tasting with Executive Chef Frank Mendoza. Chef Frank presented an extensive menu of BBQ items including Grilled Shrimp, Pulled Pork Sliders, Baby Back Ribs and to top it off an amazing Brisket. Each course was accompanied by Chef Frank providing some background on techniques and preparation. Each course was accompanied by an incredibly wide range of excellent sauces (Alabama White, Carolina Gold, KC, Texas, classic Carolina). Chef Frank took many questions and included his journeys as a chef from his roots in Texas to extensive time in Nashville working with Johnny Walker in their restaurant and helping develop their sauces as well as the Joyce gets from BBQ competitions. In addition the drinks that accompanied each course were a great pairing. Chef Frank obviously put a lot of time and attention to preparing for this event and full credit to him and his team for pulling it off. Even the pound cake dessert with grilled pineapple and ice cream showed a lot of care. I'd like to see some of these items appear on the regular menu, at least as specials from time to time, especially the grilled shrimp as an appetizer and the brisket for special occasions. Hopefully as loyal customers and rewards members we will see mote of these events at Sullivan's Tucson. Kudos Chef Frank! read more

This time we went to the bar area with some friends for Happy Hour and felt it was much more reasonable. They had items for $10, $15, and $20, plus drink specials. It was a good variety, so everyone was able to get something they liked. Our server and other staff were friendly and attentive. Food was good, but not above average, we both ordered the French dip sandwiches. The bread was a grade above Walmart but below La Baguette's (which is just up the street a few blocks) the most disappointing part was the au jus, it was more like gravy for a steak. The fries were the best part. The Dirty Bird Martini was well made as was the Lavender Martini. Service was good, but one server for the entire room seemed taxing to the poor lady working. On first glance the restaurant appears a bit more upscale, but on closer inspection you notice ceiling tiles with holes and stains. The men's restroom has a sewage leak type smell coming from a drain grid nearly in the middle of the whole restroom. The place needs work. read more

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., my family and I chose Sullivan's Steakhouse in North Tucson to celebrate my adult daughter's birthday. It was my daughter, her husband, my other daughter, and me. We knew this was an expensive steakhouse and were looking forward to a special evening. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. When we arrived, there were no other customers in the restaurant. We assumed it was just because it was the slow season and decided to give it a chance. We were seated in an incredibly small booth that was uncomfortable for all four of us. We're all fairly petite (around 5'4" and thin), yet we could barely fit. Things only got worse from there. We ordered alcoholic drinks, but they weren't brought to us until after we'd already been waiting over an hour for our food. When our steaks finally arrived, they were completely undercooked. My oldest daughter is pregnant and cannot eat rare steak, so she politely asked for hers to be cooked longer. It came back charred on the outside but was still raw in the middle. The appetizers were just as disappointing. The calamari was unpleasant, and the shrimp still had the vein (digestive tract) intact, which was extremely unappetizing and showed a lack of attention to detail. I also strongly recommend avoiding their version of lobster bisque. It was nothing like a traditional lobster bisque it tasted overwhelmingly greasy, oily, and unpleasant. We brought all of these issues to our server's attention, but he didn't seem interested in resolving our concerns or making the experience right. The following day, we contacted the restaurant and spoke with a manager because each of our separate bills was over $150. We weren't looking for anything unreasonable just a refund for such a poor dining experience. Instead, we were told we would receive a gift card. To this day, we've never received it, nor did anyone ever call us back. I even told the manager that I didn't want to leave a negative review because I don't enjoy criticizing local businesses. I genuinely hoped they would make things right. Unfortunately, they didn't follow through, leaving me no choice but to share our experience. This was supposed to be a memorable birthday celebration, but instead it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Between the long wait, poor-quality food, lack of customer service, and failure to honor what was promised afterward, I cannot recommend Sullivan's Steakhouse in North Tucson. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend it to anyone looking for a quality dining experience. read more

I took my mom to Sullivans for a Mother's Day lunch. I had heard of Sullivan's reputation from my work colleagues saying that it was a very quality restaurant, but our experience was anything but that. It was unfortunate that I had to tell my people that not only was the service one of the worst in Tucson, but the food was not much better, except for the crab appetizer, which was delicious. I have outlined my experience below: Our server (on the upper level) greeted us with "Would you like anything to drink?" No other greeting or welcome. While waiting for drinks, the table across from us was being cleared. A server picked up all the dishes and held them against his body, which is not proper handling of dirty dishware. Our dirty martinis arrived and our server spilled a good tablespoon of the drink on the table and never said anything about it. (The "blue cheese stuffed olives" had no blue cheese in them). When my mom ordered the lobster, she was told that they were out, without mentioning it in advance. When the crab cake appetizer arrived, the server placed the dish on my mom's menu board that was lying in front of her - so unprofessional. My partner and I ordered the steak salad; my order had literally twice as much greens as my partners. Our water glasses were NEVER refilled, and my mom had to ask for more ice tea. This was supposed to be a special Mother's Day brunch and regrettably we could not wait to get out of the restaurant. I have never in my life given a 10% tip in a restaurant, especially one with Sullivans' "reputation". I would recommend your staff invest some time in proper food service. (The service at PY Steakhouse at Casino Del Sol is exceptional, for example). read more

We went during restaurant week. Problem was, they have a regular special menu which is cheaper than restaurant week with only one appetizer difference. The place was nice and although big it felt cozy. Service was friendly but first drinks and bread were slow. Not the servers fault, she was great! I liked my food although it was overcooked. My wife wasn't keen on hers, over done and thin. Dessert was ok but I'll not have it there again. Starters were best part although my wedge salad lacked bacon which I've come to expect with a wedge. Blue cheese dressing was very good. Flavor of the meat was good but my wife said it reminded her of an Outback steak, which isn't a compliment. Sullivan's prices had made us hesitate to try it for a very long time, but we were given a gift card, so we decided to have a date night there. And... It was fine. The food was good, but nothing that wowed us. The service was also good, but again, nothing that stood out as special or a cut above any other sit-down restaurant. We started with Sweet & Spicy Cauliflower (fried cauliflower in a sweet and spicy chili sauce). My partner liked it; I thought it was under-sauced by a lot -- the cauliflower was dry and desperately needed the sauce both for flavor and to give it some moisture. For entrees, we got the Roasted Rack of Lamb and the Seared Sea Scallops, along with a side of brussels sprouts. Both the lamb and the scallops were expertly cooked and very tender. The entrees were solid, but both tasted slightly oversalted to me, though not by enough to ruin the dish. Every time I think on the meal, I keep coming to one conclusion: "It was alright, but for that very high price point, the meal should be truly excellent." In my opinion, the ambiance is rather bland. It's muted, with no real personality. It feels like a place you could go anywhere -- probably for a corporate event -- rather than rooted in a particular place, feeling, or style. read more

I went on a Saturday evening with a party of five for my daughter's birthday. We had reservations at 6:30pm. We weren't seated until 7:30pm. The waiter didn't show until 8:00pm. After ordering, it took about 45 minutes to get our food, which was touch and go depending who you talk to. The Ahi Tuna was probably the worst, steak was the best. I just expect a little more from a higher end restaurant. Act like you care that we're there. I didn't feel like they valued us as customers at all. We had Cros for our waiter and he was outstanding with checking in on us and suggesting the Prickly Pear Paloma as well as giving great suggestions for a main dish. There were lots of empty booths ...but we were seated on the far right at the last booth ...my husband had a great view of the dining room but my ONLY view was of the kitchen. We were visiting Tucson from Michigan and found Sullivan's had a on decent star rating so we thought we'd give it a go. We made reservations for Valentine's Day and obviously recognizing it would be a busier day than normal. First red flag for me was when we walk into a high-end steakhouse and the fake leather chairs are literally falling apart. Most the chairs had chunks of the faux leather missing from them, the state of disrepair was a shock based on the price point of the restaurant. While our waiter was friendly and accommodating, there were times that we did not see him for a while. We started with the rock oysters Rockefeller and the caviar deviled eggs. The oysters Rockefeller were good. However, the caviar deviled eggs were a wild disappointment. They were not even good deviled eggs with a sliver of an olive and then a little caviar. For the price point, a definite skip. Our server then let us know that we should place our order since the restaurant was getting busier and it would take a while. We had two children with us and they ordered off the children's menu, one got a kids burger that was huge and exceeded expectations, however, the other one got chicken fingers and they were very clearly Frozen pre-made, they tasted and looked like McDonald's chicken nuggets on the inside. For a high-end steakhouse, they could make their own chicken tenders for the price. The kids meals did come with two small scoops of ice cream. The entrees are where things really fell apart. Two of the five adults had to send their meals back because they were literally not warm and we descend back one of the family style side dishes because it was also not warm. Another of the adults got a steak but he chose not to send it back although it was not warm and also not cooked to his desired temperature. After the 8 oz filet was sent back, it was very good and warm. They put the lobster mashed potatoes under the broiler to heat them up. However, they kept the spoon in the dish and when they brought it back to the table the spoon was so hot. It was literally a lieability. The waiter had to remove it with a napkin because it was so hot. While the manager did come and apologize for the issues and offered us all a free dessert, the meals probably should have been comped based on the amount of money we were spending. Also, there were times when there were so many dishes or glasses on the table that were not being cleared that it got cluttered. At restaurants like this, there should be someone always removing the empties and clearing them. I'd also asked a food runner for an extra plate when they delivered the food and it was never brought over, I'd ask another employee. Again, understanding that this was Valentine's Day in a much busier than normal evening, it fell as if there was not enough staff on hand to accommodate the influx. While our waiter was good, the overall experience did not meet our expectations at all, especially for the amount of the bill. If you're visiting Tucson, I would not recommend this as a destination is. I think they're much better options that you could find in town that are local and not chain. read more

Went here on a Sunday night this time. The time between being seated and actually ordering our food was frustrating. It took our waiter a while to come to our table the first time and when he did, he just wanted to see what we wanted to drink. We were both ready to order our food, but then had to wait another 7 or 8 minutes for 1 drink to come back. Then things got a little better though. The food came back pretty quick. We got 1 filet mignon and 1 cowboy cut Ribeye. The filet mignon was great. The Ribeye was pretty good too, just a little too much fat on it. The prices here are pretty ridiculous. I ordered the 8oz filet along with 2 others at my table. After reading the reviews I was skeptical because people were complaining their steak was undercooked. I was really hoping this wouldnt be the case for when we went. It was interesting because when we all got our steaks the server asked us to cut them down the middle to make sure they were the correct doneness. I didnt say anything, although I probably should have, and instead sucked it up. But our 3 filets were all different levels of doneness even though we all ordered medium. I grew up in Philly & Sullivans used to be ok back in 2000, now they are a joke and places like Eddie V's are destroying them, even the Philly location of Sullivan's (King of Prussia PA) is a ghost town. The evening kicked off with a beautifully curated whiskey tasting complete with tasty notes, light hors d'oeuvres, and a welcoming energy that set the tone for the night. The staff handled everything with ease and attentiveness. When the birthday guy walked in and saw a circle of friends waiting, his face lit up and he did not stop smiling all night. After a challenging week, a friend and I decided that we needed a little treat, in the form of fancy cocktails and steak dinner. Looking for classic instead of innovative, we headed to Sullivan's. It was pretty busy even for a Saturday, but we had a reservation and were seated promptly. The place hasn't changed since it opened- classic steakhouse look and feel. Service was a little awkward- the reservation was for two but we were sat at a table set for four, and it took quite a while for someone to clear away the extra places. Also a lot of fits and starts where the server was a bit overly attentive and then nowhere to be found. But the food was good. Started with deviled egg appetizer that was exactly as expected. Steak was exactly the right temperature and of good quality. We had several sides, but far and away the mushrooms were the best- seriously delicious. Overall, a lovely meal. read more

We had a large (11 people) family meal here. Luis was our server and did a fabulous job taking care of us. We tasted several appetizers; calamari, Wellington bites and cheeses take egg rolls. The calamari was by far my favorite but the other two were delicious. My husband shared a bit of his French Onion Soup, which was rich in flavor with plenty of cheese. I went with the pan seared Chilean Sea Bass and my husband opted for the angry shrimp and a baked potato for his meal. The sea bass was the best I've ever had. It was my first time trying bok choy and I loved it. The angry shrimp was very tasty. My boys shared a few bites of their desserts with me (key lime pie and peanut butter pie) they were both delicious but the peanut butter pie was my favorite. We chose Sullivan's in Tucson for Christmas dinner expecting a special experience, especially since we've had excellent meals at the Sullivan's location in Houston. Unfortunately, this visit fell far short of expectations. Despite having a reservation, we were seated late, and it was clear the restaurant was not prepared for us. Several menu items we were looking forward to--most notably the mini Beef Wellington and items from the holiday menu--were already unavailable, which was disappointing on a special occasion like Christmas. From there, the experience only declined. The service was poor throughout the evening, and we waited an exceptionally long time for our main entrées. Tables around us, including some seated after we were, received their food much sooner. When the food finally arrived, both the steak and lamb chops were not cooked as requested. We ordered medium well, and the manager even came to the table to confirm our preference for a Pittsburgh medium (closer to medium well). Despite that confirmation, the food arrived cooked medium. Given the price point, this was unacceptable. Our table was also not cleared in a timely manner. Dirty plates and napkins piled up to the point where I had to place used napkins and dishes on the ledge behind me just to make room. We were never offered dessert, and by the end of the meal, I didn't even know our server's name due to the lack of engagement and attentiveness. For a bill exceeding $600, this level of service and execution was unacceptable. Holiday dining comes with higher expectations and higher prices, and this location did not deliver on either. The disorganization and poor service completely took away from what should have been a memorable Christmas dinner. Based on this experience, I would not return to the Tucson location, which is especially disappointing given how much we've enjoyed Sullivan's elsewhere. read more

Ok I have had Sullivans around 3x the past 7 weeks or so. Once for lunch at the bar, once with my son and his gf for his bday and once delivered. Boy was there a difference each time which is why I gave 3 stars. Our service was amazing both times in the restaurant. The bartender was on point, very takative and sweet. Our waitress was PERFECT on dec 2. She was so sweet and was a complete professional. The inside is very much styled like a steakhouse. Big booths. Great wine list. My only suggestion to those reading this is do not get it delivered. It's soggy. But in house? The beef wellington bites, the deviled eggs w caviar, the steak and lobster...all were chefs kiss. read more

Sullivans attempts to compete with Flemings, Hacienda Del Sol, or the Cork. They failed miserably yesterday. Two fillet mignons were delivered to the table raw, sent back to kitchen and then returned burned to a crisp. Asparagus risotto with no asparagus was delivered cold. The scallops entree was overcooked to the consistency of rubber. Our waitress ignored our FOUR EMPTY WINE GLASSES!! The onion soups were good, the baked potato was good the oysters weee good. But four hundred fifty dollars for very mediocre dinners! By the end of the meal our Seattle guests were making jokes about being taken to a 'high end Dennies' by their Tucson friends. read more

Review of Sullivan's Steakhouse My wife and I recently dined at Sullivan's to celebrate Valentine's Day a few days late due to both of us working that weekend. We had been looking forward to trying the restaurant for quite some time, especially since we do not get many opportunities for date nights. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. Upon arrival, we were greeted without warmth or enthusiasm. While not a major issue on its own, it did not set a celebratory tone for the evening. The meal began on a positive note. The lobster shrimp soup was excellent and well executed. My wife ordered the Caesar salad, which, while flavorful, was presented in a way that required a fork and knife to eat -- somewhat unexpected for that dish. For our entrées, we ordered a 16 oz ribeye and a 12 oz New York strip, both medium temperature. My ribeye arrived blue rare and had to be sent back. I was asked by the server to cut into the steak to confirm the temperature, which felt unusual for a steak at this price point. A properly cooked $65 steak should arrive as ordered. When the steak returned, it was slightly more cooked but still closer to barely medium rare at best -- not medium. I requested a new steak. The same plate was brought back to the table, and I was informed that due to the cut of the steak, one side might overcook. After waiting again -- during which my wife finished her meal -- a third steak was delivered in under 10 minutes. Having nearly 16 years of experience in the restaurant industry and having cooked thousands of steaks, I understand proper cook times. A 16 oz ribeye cooked to medium generally requires 12-15 minutes, not including rest time. The timing alone was concerning. When I cut into it, it was once again undercooked. At that point, rather than prolong the situation further, I asked for the steak to be boxed so I could prepare it properly at home. What was particularly disappointing was overhearing comments from the open kitchen suggesting the steak had been cooked correctly. In a restaurant with an open layout, maintaining professionalism in communication is critical. A manager did visit the table and informed us the steak had been removed from the bill. However, there was no introduction or meaningful discussion about the issue. While I appreciate the adjustment, the lack of engagement or accountability was disappointing for a restaurant positioned as a high-end steakhouse. Additionally, the advertised portion sizes raised concerns. The menu lists the ribeye as 16 oz and the New York as 12 oz. Neither appeared to match those specifications. I weighed the ribeye at home (still very undercooked), and it was under 12 oz. While steaks do lose weight during cooking, a steak cooked to rare or medium rare would not reasonably lose four ounces. In my own career, I have handled many guest concerns and have always aimed to ensure the guest left feeling heard and valued. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. We were hoping for a memorable and enjoyable evening. Instead, it was defined by repeated execution errors and a lack of professionalism. I sincerely hope management reviews both kitchen standards and guest recovery practices, as the concept and potential of the restaurant are there. At this time, we do not plan to return. As a frequent patron of Sullivan's steakhouse, I was more than upset with the service, etc. at Sullivan's last night July 18, 2026. In the past, Sullivan's was always the place to go since you could count on having great service and wonderful food. Last night, they had a very large private party in their bar and patio area. Due to that large party, the bar seemed to be backed up since it was difficult to get our drinks delivered in a timely manner. However, it is not my problem that they had a large party in the bar area. The bartender was either flustered with so many people or certainly not an experienced bartender that you would expect at a restaurant such as Sullivan's. We ordered an old-fashioned, which is something that is not difficult to make however, when it finally arrived at the table it was less than acceptable! You could tell just by the color of the drink that it was not made correctly or they were not putting in the amount that was required to make a good old-fashioned. We returned the old old-fashioned and asked to have it remade. When the second one arrived, it was just about the same, extremely weak certainly not worth the amount being charged for a weak cocktail. The service was the worst I have experienced. Iour waiter tried to get our food and drinks to us in a timely manner, but it did not work. My ribeye was ordered with the Oscar sauce on top. It was then delivered to our table without the Oscar sauce. Since my plate was taken back to the kitchen to be fixed, my dining partner, then waited for my dinner to arrive, and therefore his dinner was cold by the time my dinner came back. Thankfully my ribeye was delicious especially with the Oscar sauce on top. Putting that aside my dining partner ordered a fillet, which was actually tough. The taste was there, but when you have to work to cut a fillet, there's a problem. Thank you to the manager for reducing the cost of our dinner due to the lack of receiving everything in a timely manner. We noticed that the manager had to go to a number of tables apologizing. Stopped in for happy hour at the bar. Upon entry we were asked if we had a reservation, but we saw not a single sole inside. She advised us bar was open seating. Our bartender was friendly and efficient. He gave us time to look over the menu. They only have beer on tap so this isn't your spot if looking for craft. I ordered margaritas with patron. So smooth and delicious. We decided on beef Wellington and the shrimp cocktail for appetizers Unfortunately both were underwhelming. I felt like I was eating hamburger helper with bread around it. Yes I said that . The shrimp cocktail was dry and almost tough like. There were a few TVs in the bar area so it gave it a little less stuffy vibe. All in all this place just wasn't our scene. Three stars for the bartender and great margarita. For the price I just thought it would've been great. read more

I've been to Sullivan's a few times before, but this recent visit was next level. Had the prime new york strip, scallops, shrimp n lobster bisque. Staff was attentive, food and drinks were delicioso. This restaurant becoming my new favorite. Shout out to Darin for making sure my evening was fire. read more

Loved it! We met here for a business lunch. Everything was on point. Our waitress was fantastic. I ordered the filet mignon with a glass of Daou Cabernet Sauvignon. My lunch party each had the tuna tartare. We loved the quiet atmosphere. Lovely restaurant. We will return. read more

This once great steakhouse is now a shadow of its former self. Our lunch reservation was to celebrate a special occasion. My wife and I were seated after a few minutes but no server appeared for 10-15 minutes. She eventually came over and took our drink and salad order. The room started to fill up as other parties arrived. I noticed another table of ten across the room that arrived twenty minutes after us was getting their Champagne glasses delivered and wine poured by a different server. Our server finally delivered our drinks 30 minutes after we sat down. Every time I looked at my wife sitting across from me, I couldn't help but see the absolutely filthy water glass at the empty next table. Eventually our entrees were delivered by a man that appeared to be the manager, not our very busy server. After he left, my wife realized that she received the wrong burger. After trying unsuccessfully to get the attention of our server, I eventually ended up having to walk over to the kitchen to find the very busy manager. Fifteen minutes later, the replacement burger was undercooked. I couldn't eat my steak because I wasn't provided a steak knife by the server. My wife ended up having to flag down a passing bus person to get me a steak knife. (We realized later that my wife should have received a steak knife for her very thick bacon cheeseburger, as well.) The server and manager were very apologetic for the service problems and we were not charged for the drinks and burger. While leaving, as we passed the table of ten I noticed their server distributing their steak knives. At least somebody was getting proper service! The food was mostly good, but the multiple problems left us very disappointed and greatly diminished our celebration. I doubt we will be returning... read more

Sullivan's Steakhouse - Happy Hour Review We visited Sullivan's Steakhouse for their 3-6 pm Happy Hour and enjoyed trying a couple of their appetizers. The sliders were flavorful, and the cheesesteak eggroll stood out -- crispy on the outside with a delicious, savory filling. Definitely a great pairing. The atmosphere in the bar area was relaxed and inviting, but the service was noticeably slow during our visit, which took away from the overall experience. With a bit more attention and quicker follow-up, this could have been an easy 5-star stop. Still, the food itself was well-done, and we may give it another shot in the future -- hopefully with faster service next time. read more

Fathers' day was a bust. We arrived 5 minutes early and were told we had to wait for our table. There was virtually no one in the restaurant. We waited 15 minutes and were finally guided in past all the empty tables to one, which we pointed out was not one we requested (over a week ago!) that was convenient for one of our guests who has mobility problems and has a walker! Nevertheless, this was the only one of dozens of empty tables and we HAD to take it. This was followed by service by a waiter who must have just started that day as he knew nothing about the menu as well as how to arrange utensils or otherwise perform basic services. It went downhill from there, but space doesn't allow me to adequately describe the rest. Needless to say, until we receive reports that adequate management has been installed, we won't return! read more

Expensive prices don't always translate to a total quality dining experience, and this place is an example of that. The bone in ribeye steak I had was on point, but the appetizers I ordered were not. I don't recommend ordering the beef Wellington bites. The sauce was bland. No salty or umami flavor to it. The pork belly was okay but doused in a barbecue sauce the overpowered it. I got the impression that the menu descriptors are framed well, but the reality of what you get is not consistent with how they're positioned on the menu. Be mindful of that if ordering anything that isn't steak. Last, the atmosphere in this place is drab and stale. The chairs in the bar need to be replaced, as the upholstery on all of them is flaked, torn, and ratty. Not a good look. Service was basic and not delightful like service for a $200 check should be. Recommend going to the Flying V or Vivace if you want a superior dining experience. Next!! read more

Little late to leaving this review, but we dined here for our anniversary dinner and can't say enough great things! Food was delicious and our Server Erik went above and beyond. We sat on the patio where there was plenty of seating and light music. We started with a Caesar salad and lobster bisque which we both enjoyed and had herb chicken and filet for our mains. The herb chicken was very flavorful and juicy. My filet was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes were a great choice as well. We ended with a beautifully decorated dessert of Key lime pie and Cheesecake. We both left stuffed and happy! read more
