Sadly I was very disappointed with my ribeye steak yesterday. The quality was way below what I have been served in the past. I was unable to eat even half of the tough steak. I expressed my disappointment to our waiter but received no comment from the kitchen, management or server. Sullivans dropped the ball this time..... Returned last week to give the facility another chance - and had the same experience. Sadly I will not return. The restaurant is very poorly managed. We arrived in the restaurant when it opened at 11 AM. We had a reservation for our anniversary for several weeks. There was no hostess. The bathrooms were being mopped. The barstools were on top of the bar. After 35 minutes, we'd only received water. I asked the waitress if there was an issue, as there were only six of us (three tables) seated in the restaurant. She explained that we had not received our drinks, because there was no bartender. She also apologized. She said she was the only one there, and she was no bartender??? In any event, we were the second of the three tables to leave. I've never seen such a poorly managed place. They should close their doors, as they certainly don't know how to open them. read more

I was waffling between a 3 and a 4. I made reservations for tonight (thanksgiving) a few weeks ago. I called and made sure I requested a table. I hate booths. And I'm a bigger lady so, I don't like my boobs on the table. I'm a single diner. I got there a little early. I don't mind dining alone. I'm there by myself-it's obvious. There were other patrons in the lobby. I was sitting in a chair closest to the inner of the outer doors near a hallway that acts as storage. Tell me why I could hear the hosts very loudly talking about a table for one when I'm a good 15 ft away I'd say? I didn't notice them discussing the number of patrons of other tables that were waiting...it was a little off putting. And them yelling to me that my table for one was available. There were at least five hosts, they couldn't take the three seconds to walk over to me, greet me and tell me my table is ready?? They take me to a booth. READ THE ROOM LADIES. I told her I requested a table and I'd wait for one to become available. No apologies. I get to the table and they chose the seat to put the menus on with my back to mostly everything. I decided to sit on the other side of the table. But not before making a slightly snide comment along the lines of "oh, you're going to sit over there." The hostess moved everything to the other side-my menu was shoved over and given to me upside down. I wasn't given a drink menu I had to ask for one. I wasn't offered bread I had to ask for that. My server was very nice but not very attentive to me. I get it. I'm a single diner in a busy restaurant and she's got other bigger parties. But I feel like I was maybe a third of the way through my meal before she even came over and asked how it was. How was it? It was pretty delicious. However the food was not hot...it was barely warm. The cranberry sauce was awful as far as I'm concerned. The stuffing the sweet potato casserole, the mashed potatoes, and the turkey were all very good and probably would've been great if they had been served hot. I was happy with the dinner. I had the cheesecake with I think they called it pumpkin anglaise(??) it was more like pumpkin soup poured over cheesecake. I didn't care for it but the cheesecake by itself was really good. I had the white chocolate almond martini-very tasty. I enjoyed it but it came with this awful and unattractive white chocolate blob that was just chalky and sweet. Not a cute drink. On a holiday a single diner is probably on vacation or family is not around. I was made to feel very insignificant because I wasn't a larger party. I mean, I go out by myself enough to know when I'm being treated equally and when I'm being treated as someone who's not as important as a couple or family because I'm dining alone. True, the server would make a lot more in tips from other tables than me however, on a $71 bill I tipped $20. It was a holiday and honestly I feel it's generous for the experience. read more

Our party of 4 went for dinner on the 21st. We waited 20 minutes before getting any water and a drink order put in. Waited another 20 minutes for some bread to show up even after we asked when we got the water. A forty minute wait to put in your order is ridiculous. Our food was good once we got it. For 3 meals (one dinner was split) and 4 cocktails, it cost 277. That's a price I'm good with paying IF the food is good and the service is great. The service sucked and everyone out in the patio area was suffering from the poor service. This place had great ambiance and could be a fantastic place for a nice dinner but they completely miss the mark in the service aspect. Expensive prices don't always translate to a total quality dining experience, and this place is an example of that. The bone in ribeye steak I had was on point, but the appetizers I ordered were not. I don't recommend ordering the beef Wellington bites. The sauce was bland. No salty or umami flavor to it. The pork belly was okay but doused in a barbecue sauce the overpowered it. I got the impression that the menu descriptors are framed well, but the reality of what you get is not consistent with how they're positioned on the menu. Be mindful of that if ordering anything that isn't steak. Last, the atmosphere in this place is drab and stale. The chairs in the bar need to be replaced, as the upholstery on all of them is flaked, torn, and ratty. Not a good look. Service was basic and not delightful like service for a $200 check should be. Made a reservation for a Thanksgiving meal for 5 people, made arrangements with a family to have a special evening. . They had our phone numbers and emails. When we arrived we've been told that it has been hours since they are out of thanksgiving food... No notification, no apology, not even a real table. Was placed at the plastic chairs and table by the bar. We've made a huge mistake and decided to stay since we were there already and starving . Had to order other things, Stake, chicken.. Waited for almost 2 hours for our cold, hard to chew food to arrive.. Paid over 350$ and left with a big disappointment. Was it that hard to send us a text saying that you were out of thanksgiving meal? How awfully inconsiderate.Or was it on purpose?! I had read the reviews prior to going to Sullivan's and was disappointed in what I read. However I wasn't disappointed at all with the food, service and ambiance. We were attended to several times and the food was very good. The French onion soup was delicious and my husband ordered the sliders and the dynamite sushi. I want o begin with the food was good. The blue cheese wedge with bacon was spectacular. I had the ribeye and it was cooked right but I had to tell them not to over salt it, it was a little tough. My friend has the filet and had to send it back because it was too salty. The Brussel sprouts were amazing. The Key lime pie was delicious and so was the banana foster. We stopped coming here for many years but we started hearing good things so we decided to give it another try. Matt is the new general manager stopped by and introduced himself; we thoroughly enjoyed meeting him. We had the deep fried lobster tails which are amazing! We also have tried several dishes - fried cauliflower (really good), French fries, crab fried rice, lobster risotto, and crab sliders to name a few of the items. Sadly this was our first visit at Sullivan's and most likely will not come back unless changes will be made. First things first, we arrived with a line at the host stand on a Tuesday evening. We checked in with our reservation however the hostess got distracted from a server who was telling her to give the 2-stop to someone else. About 8 minutes later she came back and finally sat us down after dealing with the distraction and sitting another party that came after us. From the beginning, I suspected our experience wasn't going to be good. Providing best experience at the host stand is crucial, it defines the restaurant's personality. Unfortunately, it was ugly. Stephanie, our server for the night, was great! Ordered couple of things that were not available - which is not her fault. But made our dining experience not so great. Bottle of a specific wine- OUT. Oysters- OUT. Placed order of appetizers of jumbo shrimp cocktail and seared ahi tuna. Ahi was delicious! Great sear good sauce! Cocktail shrimp was prepared horribly. The outside part of the shrimp was hard. Almost like the skin was left on but it was the meat that harden from either over iced or was pan seared first then cooled? Not something you want in a cocktail. We were able to replace the shrimp cocktail for shrimp eggrolls which made a big difference. Thank you to the lady manager that compensated our apps due to our experience. Our main entree was good. Thankfully the steaks were cooked at the right temperature. Bone in ribeye cowboy cut was delicious as well as the 8oz New York strip as part of the Sure Thing. Had to send back two filet mignon steaks as one was well done and the other medium. We requested medium rare. The mashed potatoes were simply that, no garlic and plain. Liked the bisque soup. Here's an update to our original experience and review of Sullivans. It was like night and day! Manager, Matthew, reached out to offer his sincere apologies for our first dining experience with them. We ended up returning last night for our anniversary dinner. Our waiter Josh, was incredible. It felt like a true steakhouse dining experience. We had the Wagyu and Ribeye, cooked perfectly. The Mac n cheese and mushrooms were great sides. And we highly recommend their cocktails and Beef Wellington bites to start. Thank you again for making our anniversary dinner unforgettable. Sullivan's (for us) was a major disappointment, so bad we wont be going back. For me, this is the 2nd time Sullivans has turned out badly. Ive finally learned my lesson! This last visit included 3 people, each ordering a strip steak ($60). All were cooked to the wrong temperature as was specified to the waiter. 2 were chewable, and mine was not. Half of my steak could not be chewed. I should have sent it back. The 2 sides we ordered tasted like they had a whole stick of butter melted into them. Not very edible. With one drink and 1 dessert each, the bill before tip was $360. Never again. read more

We went to Sullivan's for a date night and left feeling mixed. The food was good, but the experience didn't really live up to the price. We never got any bread and didn't realize we were supposed to until our food was almost out and we saw other tables with it. We had ordered a Caesar salad to come out before our meal, but it never did. When our entrées came, we mentioned it to our server and he offered to either take it off the bill or box it up to go, which wasn't great since I wanted to eat it there. We ordered the tomahawk steak to share, and it came out already cut. I don't know who cuts a $100 steak without consent??? Our server had asked earlier if it was okay to split the salad, but not the steak, which made no sense. Also not confirmed, but my husband was pretty sure the lobster mashed potatoes were topped with crab instead. Just had a lovely lunch of Spinach salad and their crusty bread. The bacon vinaigrette dressing was perfect on the spinach along with a few crumbles of bacon and some veggies. It's a quiet, pleasant atmosphere that encourages conversation. The staff was very friendly and happy to attend to our needs. We'll be back. read more

Did you know that Sullivan's is open for lunch? We stopped by on whim, and quite enjoyed our experience. They have a lot of lunch options (burgers, sandwiches, business lunch) but I opted for the Chicken Cobb Salad. Since I'm not a fan of blue cheese, I asked for it without that, and substituted the dressing with their bacon vinaigrette. It was delicious! All the flavors of bacon, cheese, egg, avocado, etc mingled together beautifully. We were also served two rounds of bread with the meal, without having to ask for it. The atmosphere was lovely-pleasant music, and we could hear each other without yelling. The waiter was on top of everything without being overbearing, and was pleasant throughout. So we decided to try Sullivan's steakhouse for the first time today. And I was extremely disappointed with the food. Although our server was great and very apologetic. food started with beef wellington bites, one of them had nothing but fat and a piece of bone... I then ordered a 12 oz filet Mignon, medium and it came out well then, and dry. As my side, I ordered au grotin potatos with bacon cheddar sauce and lobster. Then, what came when I was served was a half cooked, chopped up potato literally chunks that were crunchy with everything just thrown in. I asked my server if this is how these au grotin potatoes should look and she said she's never seen them that way. I thought I'd give it a last shot and order Banana fosters pudding for dessert.They told me it was a ten minute wait. The dessert came out and my first spoon in a rock hard black thing rolled out. After looking closely at it and trying to cut it I realized it was a slice of banana. Never in my life have I had a $300 dining experience experience like this. I won't be back. We had a special occasion to celebrate and decided to try an upscale restaurant. Overall, the cost of everything compared to the quality of the food is not worth it. It isn't the best steak I've had in Tucson. My favorite dishes were the cheesesteak eggrolls, the peanut butter pie, and the mac & cheese. You think going to a steakhouse your favorite thing would be the steak. We spent around $300 for two people. This included two alcoholic drinks, two appetizers, two steaks and two sides and a dessert. Our server Amber was very nice and courteous. She was dealing with a lot of tables. We also overheard that six people had called out so she was overloaded. When we first walked in the hostess also seemed overwhelmed, and it took a while for us to be sat, but this could be due to the servers calling out. The ambience of the restaurant is low, lighting, linen table, class, and leather booths. People were dressed and a mixed sort of way some more dressy than others. We saw some people in jeans and a nice shirt. I would say dress in the middle. It also looked like the restaurant could use some upkeep. The tables were wobbly the bathrooms rundown. read more

GONE DOWNHILL! Our extended family frequents Sullivan's quite a bit. Yesterday was to celebrate our Tucson Firefighters graduation from Paramedic School. Upon being seated at our table and getting our waters filled....one spilled because the large round table was wobbly. We laughed that off. The appetizers came. The brussel sprouts were mushy and looked like they had been prepared with a salad shooter. Then the entrees arrived except one. The steaks were way under cooked or over cooked...the lamb scorched (ordered rare). Our waiter never came to check on us or refill drinks. One of the party had to go find someone to alert the staff that an entree was missing after 20 MINUTES. One of our baked potatoes was actually cold to the touch and tasted "off". After a few bites it was realized the chicken was RAW towards the center. No replacement was needed because the rest of the party had almost finished the meal. The management did not handle the situation well and the waiter stayed distant throughout the meal. The family member that had the chicken has now been up all night with "digestive issues". For the price of this restaurant...the food and service should be above average. It certainly is NOT. read more

Came back to celebrate another anniversary and we were so very disappointed compared to our first visit last year. We arrived 20 minutes before our reservation and were seated 10 minutes after which was nice. Our waiter was friendly. The restaurant had a very strong fish odor which made it hard to find other food appetizing. We both got soft drinks which were only refilled once. Our appetizer of egg rolls came out in a decent amount of time and tasted amazing but the price is not worth just two egg rolls cut in half. We ordered dinner and then didn't get served until 50 minutes after that. I got the fix menu and got the lobster bisque which was absolutely awful. It tasted like watered down sour cream and it wasn't hot. Babe got French onion soup which was good. After we finally got our food, we were so hungry. Babe's ribeye steak came out good and his Brussels side was yummy. My salmon was cold, with cold sauce and three sad pieces of asparagus. At that point there was no point in sending it back because we didn't want to wait anymore. Part of the fix menu is dessert, which we got bread pudding. It is amazing but our slice was burnt on the bottom (see pic). However, because we were celebrating our anniversary, they gave us a complimentary dessert also. We asked if our second dessert, which was another bread pudding, could be to go and our waiter said yes. It then took a long chunk of time to get the bill. When we finally left after being there for literally two hours, we realized as we were driving home that our waiter did not bag our second dessert with the other leftovers despite saying he had. We live 40 minutes away from the restaurant so it wasn't even worth it to drive back. So very disappointed in this visit to say the least. read more

Came here on Saturday evening for dinner. We had reservations and were seated immediately. We each ordered a cowboy bone in ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection! For sides we did the macaroni and cheese, au gratin potatoes, and creamed spinach. I was a little disappointed in the sides. The spinach was not as hot as I would have liked it. (I thought about sending it back, but they forgot to put that side/order in, and I was already waiting for it to come out after all of the other food came out) and The potatoes were a little hard. the service was phenomenal. We went on Valentine's Day knowing how crowded it would be. We had to wait a little to be seated, but once seated it was a great experience. Service was great, the vibe was great, but the highlight was the food. The ladies had the surf & turf. Both the lobster and the filet were cooked perfectly and my comment was "heavenly". The men had rack of lamb. They both said it was cooked to their order and was great. The asparagus risotto and warm bread completed everyone's meal. We came here for my husband's birthday. This was my second time at this Sullivans. The first time was last Christmas Eve, which was a disorganized mess. I wanted to give them another chance as I have eaten at Sullivans for many years in another state and had a high opinion of it. Our server was very sweet. We had a 6 PM reservation and he informed us time after time that they were out of what we tried to order. The steaks were not good enough to make up for that. Very disappointing for the price. Will not return. January 4, 2024 I thought it was very nice that someone from Sullivan's reached out to me here on Yelp. They directed me to go to their website.... To leave my info and they would get back to me. However, as of today, no one has gotten back to me. My husband and I came in for a late anniversary dinner a few weeks ago. It was our first time here. We were looking for somewhere nice that we could get dressed up to go have a nice meal. Sullivan's, while dated, does fit the bill. There weren't many people when we went at 8:30 on a Friday night so our dining experience was fairly private. Our server was very nice. He introduced himself and answered any and all questions we had. Once we ordered our food came out hot and as we were ready for it. The food was very good but I think you're definitely paying for the service and experience here. I only rated it 4 stars because of how very dated it is. I went two different weekends in a row to give it a second chance. Well, the food was very subpar. There was a couple of things that were good but not great and expensive. Then the bartender on Friday late afternoon lady with blonde hair was so unfriendly and rude and didn't even look at you. It made it very uncomfortable to eat there. Went to dinner in the bar tonight and found our favorite bartender, Erik, is no longer working in Sullivan's bar. It's becoming harder and harder to find good service these days, so we intentionally go when we know Erik is working. For any business, employees are your most important resource, so we hope Sullivans will do all they can to bring Erik back. Not sure we will continue to go otherwise. Many restaurants can offer good food, but without good service, it's not worth the trip. read more
