I got the premium ramen noodle soup with crystal noodles. It's hard to find crystal noodles aka potato noodles outside of hotpot places. I just wished it was the flat potato noodles but it still tasted delicious nonetheless. My wife got the signature spicy hot noodle soup. It is definitely spicy enough. She said it made her cough with a gleeful smile on her face. The milk tea is good but I wished the boba was a bit softer. The price is decent. It's $30 total. It's comparable to other places. I found this place on Yelp as I put in places at Elmhurst since I would be in the area around lunchtime time. This restaurant is literally a hole in the wall. They do have a restroom for customers, but bare minimum seating and tables for people to dine in. Don't expect to get any table service, and it's first come, first seating. I saw a lot of supreme stuff all over the restaurant, too. The bike and boxes inside made it look like a warehouse or a large closet, too. It threw me off. You would order and then grab a seat. Someone will bring the food to your table if you're eating there. They do have ac, so that's good if you're trying to escape the heat. My friend and I ate inside and got the summer rolls, which wasn't tightly wrapped, and it was so hard to eat. It came apart right away, which I've never seen happen before. I don't suggest getting it at all. It was too messy to eat, and the ingredients were mainly noodles. I got the taro tea as that doesn't have caffeine inside of it. For my main meal, I got the hot pot noodle soup with a medium spice level with been tendon and fatty beef. The bad part about it was that my stomach hurt after an hour or so. I've been coming here for years. If Joju is closed or I'm trying to go for a more affordable sandwich, this is my go-to Vietnamese sandwich. We ordered Taiwanese popcorn chicken, Vietnamese sandwiches, and bubble tea from here and they were all delicious. They also have rice dishes, noodle dishes, and other Asian appetizers. Orders normally take 15-20 minutes to get so you should always call ahead. I've tried the grilled chicken sandwich and the classic sandwich. I thought the classic sandwich would be more obvious with the meats, but it was not too different in taste. The meats were smaller portions than what you would receive from Joju, but it makes sense since it is cheaper. The popcorn chicken is delicious and definitely something you cannot go wrong with. I've only ordered delivery from here using DoorDash. I got the signature spicy hot noodle soup, in medium spicy. The order was average. I didn't think the spice level was medium, more of a mild, and they left out the tripe that I had ordered to come with the soup. The bread is toasted to the perfect light crispness and it's just the right anount of protein, pickled veggies, cilantro, and mayo all at around $7-8 a sandwich. We both got the classic and shared an order of Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The food was pretty solid overall. The popcorn chicken was deliciously seasoned and very crispy, despite the fact that it had to travel to get to us. We would definitely order it again. The classic bahn mi was decent; however, I couldn't identify any pâté, and although I saw what I believe was a slice of ham in the sandwich, I couldn't taste it. The pork was very crumbly, almost ground, and it was on the sweeter side, but it was okay. The veggies and cilantro were abundant and dominated the sandwich. They tasted fresh, but they were concentrated on the top two thirds of the sandwich, so most of the bites I took seemed to consist of only veggies. I guess that balances out the popcorn chicken. Had a pretty good take out experience with Summer over my visit to Elmhurst on a hot Saturday. It's about 7-8 minute walk from the Subway station on a relatively quieter area. Like most places currently they block off the entrance and ask you to call when arrived to place or pick orders. They were a little slow with Seamless so maybe its better to confirm by phone after you placed order to confirm. Once I arrived at the restaurant and given them a call was quoted another 5 minutes but luckily they worked pretty fast and had my food out relatively quick after the initial delay. The food tasted quite nice and the price is great, I'm definitely more of a fan of the Rice plate though, I though the Bahn Mi pork could be a bit juicier but it could be the bread portion is larger too haha. Either way for the price I think you would get a good meal and definitely its nice to see another Vietnamese joint in the area. read more

5 stars for the huge improvement after they reopened. I haven't been back since my last visit 9 mos ago. Got a fish banh mi to try, it was really good. Not the best I've had but for Queens, it's a great banh mi. The bread was so soft, veggies were marinated well. Nice and crunchy. I also bought 2 banh mis from Joju and I finished my fish banh mi instead of eating taking a second bite from JoJu's lemongrass chicken. It wasn't bad but I definitely preferred Summer. I couldn't even finish the entire sandwich in one sitting. I was so full, so good portion. Definitely want to try the deluxe banh mi next time. The brisket noodle soup was also quite flavorful. The broth was great. L loved the fried egg. Even better than some Taiwanese restaurants. Loved the fresh cilantro and bok choy. Sent some banh mis the other day to my parents. The Banh Mi sandwiches are super big and delicious. I highly recommend the #1 if you are not a vegetarian/vegan. The sweet pickled veggies were fantastically fresh and tasty. I also was a huge fan of the crunchy french baguette bread. I took off a star, since I didn't enjoy my BBQ pork on rice meal though as it didn't resemble the grilled taste that I remember as a kid. I was looking for some Vietnamese cuisine and found this eatery via Yelp. I ordered a few Vietnamese sandwiches, hot noodles (fish slice & egg), summer rolls, and a mango boba tea. All the food was delicious and the ingredients were fresh. I was initially a little disappointed that they don't offer pho or hot noodles with chicken but ended up being happy with what I ordered. The sandwiches are very close to the sandwiches in an eatery dedicated solely to Vietnamese cuisine. The summer rolls came with a thick peanut sauce, not the traditional vinegar based sauce. I'm glad the mango boba was not overly sweet. My parents liked the food I ordered for them. It's tough to order out for my father who while loves takeout, has so many dietary restrictions. I'm relieved that I was able to find something he could enjoy in the hot noodles I ordered for him. This meal included a little of everything and was done in a Chinese non-pho style. The staff who took my order was super nice and helpful. The eatery had a few small tables. Overall the place was kept clean. Been ordering from Summer ever since 2018 and I feel like the shop is a tad underrated. It's definitely a no frills place with a decent variety of foods ranging from banh mis, rice dishes to noodle soup, bubble teas to classic appetizers. I've mostly had their banh mis which have always been pretty solid and the occasional bubble tea (which I request to be less sweet). This time around I got their beef noodle soup/Premium ramen noodle soup (in addition to their grilled chicken and pork banh mis and a matcha latte with bubbles) and it was tasty and included lots of chunks of beef and a great broth. I usually wait til I get off work before I write my reviews but for this spot I felt like I had to warn the Yelp community and also vent my upset and unsatisfied stomach as soon as I can. First of all, I got here at 11am, yes, it was early but it stated they open at 11. They didn't open til 1120am and yeah, I still went in because I wanted to give this place a try. Wrong move but now i & YOU know. Here's why: Place: once you walk in, it feels like a Chinese food take out spot. It is owned by Chinese and no they don't do a any sort of good job with the viet sandwiches. It was quiet , maybe because they just opened but they also have no decor on the walls. You have several tables for you to sit down to eat and parking is easily available out front. They have a fridge for drinks but they also store a bucket of something in there. Food: I ordered the viet classic sandwich. It was so poorly made. You can tell that the pork bits were microwaved and they are really cheap with the pate, ham and other stuff you usually have in it. When you specify the level of spice, it's basically how much Sriracha they squirt in your sandwich. It made it even worse for me to hear them squeeze an empty Sriracha that sounded like farts into my meal when they have full bottles on the table tops. Come on, you can't be fully stocked behind the sandwich table?. Check out the pictures and you'll see how disappointing it is. The only positive star here is that it was only $5. The parking in this neighborhood is much easier. I tried their Summer Banh Mi- obvious it is very large and great price ($5 each); comes with sliced pork, bacon & egg with all the fixings (see below). The sandwich was delicious and pickled veggies are fresh. The baguette was toasted just right. You can pick the spice level- mild, medium or hot. Rate 5/5. My kids had the Classic Banh Mi- comes with pate, Vietnamese ham roasted grilled pork. Rate 5/5. All sandwiches come with mayo, butter, cucumber julienne, carrots and daikon radish and cilantro. I've never physically been to this restaurant before, but I've ordered delivery from here multiple times and have been pleased for the most part. I love their banh mis! As someone who grew up with num pang, I miss Cambodian food but it's hard to find Cambodian food in NYC. The banh mi from this place tastes very similar to the num pang I grew up with. I've also tried their pho, which is great as well. I was also happy with the Thai iced tea I got from here and will usually add one onto my order. They can also do bubble teas. The only dish I tried that I was disappointed in was their beef over rice. This dish is dry and not much meat (it's a lot of white rice), so I wouldn't recommend this one. We discovered this little hidden gem after reading an article from Eater NY. I would never have found this place otherwise as it is located on the other side of Queens Boulevard, far from the more populated part of Elmhurst. I have to admit, I was tempted to turn around and leave when I noticed there were only 5 Yelp reviews at the time, the lack of customers inside, and the decor was essentially bare bones. I'm glad we didn't though. Summer has a rather small menu of just a few basic varieties of vietnamese sandwiches, a noodle soup, "signature marinades" of miscellaneous animal parts (beef tripe, pig ears, pig intestines, etcetera), and bubbles teas. We opted to get the classic banh mi, signature spicy hot noodle soup, and a thai iced tea. After we paid, we sat down, and the gentleman who took our order brought us our food when it was ready. - Classic Banh Mi: Beautifully presented and the portion is fairly generous. The bread was perfectly toasted with the lovely crunch on the outside and soft on the inside - just the way I like it! Like any classic banh mi, this sandwich consists of pâté and vietnamese ham, however it also has minced grilled pork which took me by surprise since I was expecting all sliced deli meats. I normally don't care for the minced pork but thought this was pretty good. It could've used a touch more pâté but I say that because I am biased and absolutely LOVE pâté! This sandwich has some sort of a creamy mayonnaise-like sauce in it which was very delicious. I am a fan. - Signature Spicy Hot Noodle Soup: Interestingly this is the only noodle soup they offer however it can be customize to your liking from the spice level, type of noodles, and a choice of two toppings (additional toppings are $1 extra). We chose the fish balls and beef tripe. This tastes almost identical to the beef noodle soup offered at the more famous Lao Bei Fang Dumpling House a few blocks over. It was very good. I was surprised to see that the fish balls were not the regular fishballs but fuzhou (FJ) fish balls with the minced pork inside. I normally am not a fan of fuzhou fish balls and was pretty annoyed, however I tried it and these were actually not bad at all. - Thai Iced Tea: Very concentrated and not overly sweet with just the right amount of bitterness. The noodles arrived first and it looked pretty spicy for medium. Hubby found all sorts of random one-piece things in this soup from a solo tofu to a rice cake. Fish balls are the ones with the filling in the middle versus the plain fish ball. It comes with clear translucent noodles. The sandwiches arrived and come pre-cut in half. Loaded with your usual toppings. I have to say, the bread was very impressive. Toasted and warm, crispy on the outside and warmly toasted throughout. Lovely crunch without being too hard. They also branched out from selling only banh mi inspired sandwiches to selling "spicy hot noodle soup" which is super customizable and tastes like hot pot. The noodle soup comes with a lot of veggies and fills you up without being overly heavy. They've also started offering some interesting desserts like "fried milk sticks" which are really tough to describe but delicious. Just make sure you don't eat the entire order alone since it's one of those desserts meant to be enjoyed in small portions (like funnel cake) and too much would make you feel gross. read more
