It was perfect for me because I like my coffee with lots of cream and sugar. I didn't think it was too sweet but just right. The owner Scott and all the staff was very friendly. What an interesting little place. It's like...gym meets church meets coffee shop all in one building. The location is probably the main reason for my three stars. This place would be FINE in a stand alone location with comfortable seating, etc. Not a fan of what I consider a bit of a strange location. So, this place is known for a special secret mixture called "moon milk". Don't get me wrong, it was okay...but I had a medium latte the first time, and ended up almost sick to my stomach. It was TOO SWEET! And I got the "half moon"...I can only imagine the full moon. Do yourself a favor. Spend some time on their website. Absolutely love the family owned side of this. Summer moon has to be the best place for coffee in San Antonio! Every time I go I get the summer-moon coffee and very satisfied afterwards. It is hot, rich yet with a creamy taste to it. Well depends what you order... In fact, I suggested summer moon to my coworkers and order it often more now than usual. It's simply delish! Summer Moon is definitely a coffee shop that is unlike others. I've had the chance to taste their Nitro Float, Half Moon, and an Iced Coconut Mocha Moon. All were absolutely delicious and uniquely sweet. I definitely believe that it has something to do with their mystical moon milk. So here's a breakdown of my thoughts on the drinks that I've tried so far: Half-Moon: -Deliciously sweet -If you're used to drinking black coffee this may be too sweet for you, so I recommend trying the quarter moon instead -Drink was at a perfect temperature when I received it -Rich coffee flavor that is attributed to their wood-fired coffee -Highly recommend as a first drink here at SM since its a great representation of the coffee that they carry Nitro Float: -Nitro Brew with Vanilla Ice Cream -Not the best cold brew that I've tried (Cafe Martinez is still my personal favorite), but still good -Make sure to mix the ice cream with the nitro brew completely before tasting it (makes a huge difference) -I tried this drink after drinking the half-moon so I feel like the nitro float's flavor was masked by the half-moon (therefore I feel like my actual opinion of this drink is not finalized) -Will definitely give the nitro brew another go next time Iced Coconut Mocha Moon: -Very delicious drink -Good balance of the sweet coconut flavor and the mocha -Highly recommended by the baristas -Great dose of caffeine -I recommend it myself as well! So let me start by saying this place has great coffee. They are friendly and fast - especially when busy. But here I am, having sat here for an hour working on my computer and enjoying my coffee. They have an archaic process of absolutely SCREAMING when they have coffee ready. And if you aren't right there in 10 seconds, they SCREAM again. Especially this one woman with really long brown hair. This is now 2020 - there are better ways to let people know their drinks are ready. Anything other than annoyingly screaming across the entire space. It frustrates me to the point I don't want to spend time here at all - it is not a good environment to work and relax with these screams coming every minute. Let's get it together Summer Moon. I love this little nook of a coffee place. It's a great location , close to downtown without all of the traffic and parking issues. The coffee is delicious, the moon milk (it's a secret blend, don't ask, they won't tell you what's in it), is to die for. They serve bird bakery pastries which are pretty good. For me bird is always hit or miss, but I found you can't go wrong with a simple sugar cookie. I'd give this place 5 stars but every time we go through the drive thru we get charged a different price for the exact same order! A bit of inconsistency but nothing too bad. A few cents to an extra dollar or so Definitely have to update my review, the owner personally messaged me with an apology about the price discrepancies and offered to take care of my next drink. This coffee is A-mazing. Like you really need to go in and ask to try the Moon milk. It's like unicorn tears. It's out of this world! I was told that even the managers do not know the secret recipe to it. I had the summer moon which is great. (This last time a little too much Moon milk (I can't have a lot of sugar). I'll probably try the half moon next time. The expresso milkshake is so delicious! I can't even describe it. I found out this last trip that they sell Moon milk by the cup. 12oz was $5. Don't drink it like you would milk. You will end up with an upset stomach. I personally think the secret summer moon mixture is overhyped. Their coffee is mediocre and the flavor comes from the secret mixture, which if I was to guess has condense milk.. It tastes somewhat like diluted Vietnamese coffee (if you get the full moon) since Vietnamese coffee is sweetened with tons of condense milk and strong espresso/drip coffee. My friend got the full moon and I got the 1/4 moon since I usually like my coffee strong and not sweetened. I didn't get a strong taste of coffee even with a 1/4 moon.. so this is probs not for me. But if you enjoy sweetened coffee, for sure give this a try! Environment is definitely built for working. A lot of big tables, countertops, charging plugs, quiet setting. It was around 9ish on a Sat morning, and we were greeted by Head Roaster Bruce and his son, who talked to us about their passion, the coffee beans & roasting them and some detailed information about the wood roasting of the beans. We also got to meet the owner of Summer Moon, Scott, as well, who was just friendly and excited to see us. We tried so many of their coffees, coffee flights if you would. Even tried their Nitro Brewed, which was pretty smooth with no bitter back bite, and I'm not a big fan of cold brew coffee. After the lecture, we roamed about the place at free will, I had already heard there was breakfast tacos, so I went up to order some, also got a Mocha Moon Latte which had some of that great Moon Milk. We went out of our way to come to this nearly five star rated place when all I have to say about it is I've experienced better. Great Turmeric Coffee called Golden Moon. Drive through is a plus. By far my favorite place I found while visiting San Antonio.

I don't even like coffee but I stop by occasionally for when my unreasonable iced coffee craving kicks in. I always get the 3/4 wintermoon, which is an iced coffee with 3/4 a serving of moonmilk and I absolutely love it. I feel that a full wintermoon is too much even for me, a little honey bee, but a 1/2 wintermoon to have too allowing for the taste of coffee. I find the taste of coffee to be unappealing in general, but this coffee is amazing. I make the drive over when I can and refuse to go anywhere else. Please keep up the amazing work! read more

Laptops, etc. maybe a scaled down version of Starbucks, but serving way better coffee and snacks. I went for the Summermoon. Gotta try the namesake. Very sweet and delicious. Maybe too sweet. Same amazing coffee and friendly service with the excuse to be a little lazy on Monday and not have to get out of my car. Quad 16oz almond milk cappuccino is one of the best you can get in San Antonio. I bet it would be even better with their special moon milk, but due to allergies I'll never know. The place is very nice. We missed the drive-thru entrance (it makes a U, it doesn't go behind the building like we assumed). We were the only ones inside and the place JUST opened a minute before we got there. The two baristas were very friendly. My coffee tasted great! I wanted an everything bagel but they didn't have any (assuming they didn't remake any the night before). We ordered 3 bagels to-go and waited appx 15 minutes... One lady was handling the drive-thrus and the other man was supposed to be making our bagels. He started to help her and didn't even make our bagels our priority when we ordered to-go b/c we had somewhere to be. Our bagels were being toasted one at a time for almost 5 minutes each. They clearly need a better oven or system. A machine should be able to toast multiple bagels in a shorter amount of time. I can't imagine how the rush would be if other people had ordered bagels too. This summer moon was...depressing.. I've been to all the DFW locations as well as one in Austin and the one in Lubbock. They have a good environment and are beautifully decorated. The summer moon at this location is off of a YMCA and there was constantly a kid screaming and multiple people yelling somewhere in the building. If you didn't bring noise canceling headphones it was a big, big bummer. The furniture and decor looked like the owners just purchased a lock and key store from a company that was going out of business hard. They had 4 faux leather chairs that were all peeling and stained. And the rest of the seating options were very hospital cafeteria-esque in nature. Over all the coffee was fine? It didn't taste like the summer moon I'm used to but it happens ‍ I love summer moon and I purchase moon milk to go every week to make my own lattes at home but this location really missed the mark. read more

I first tried Summer Moon at the San Antonio Coffee Festival. Whatever they put in their moon milk (sweetened creamer) is indeed magical, and the wood-fired coffee beans lead to a nice finish that isn't bitter or acidic. Summer Moon is tucked into the Tri Point YMCA and was bustling with gym goers this morning (Saturday). I tried the 12 oz Summer Moon and my boyfriend had the cortado.
