Parking: There's a private lot shared with another business (a different dental office for surgical procedures I think) with plenty of parking. Ambiance/Decor: It is a very nice dental office and it's very comfy and cozy. It's clean and spacious as well! Customer Service: The customer service is okay. Sometimes, in my opinion, it did feel a bit less genuine/fake and it also felt like I was being rushed when I needed to call. It always seems like the front desk receptionists are in a hurry to hang up the phone. Dental/Appointments/Pricing: When I first started going to Island Dental, I loved my cleaning experience with the hygienist I was originally paired with but when she moved away, everyone after her that I had just seemed okay. My teeth never really felt truly amazingly clean as they had in the past with my primary hygienist in California. They really push the "boomcloud membership" which they raised the price multiple times since my first appointment. I personally think that for the quality of cleaning, it is extremely overpriced. Overall: After multiple appointments, still continuing the BoomCloud membership although my teeth never felt as clean as I would like them to be, I have decided that I would much rather go back to California to my primary dentist than to continue with Island Dental. Sure, it is beautiful office and the hygienists and doctors were kind, but it just isn't worth the price for the experience. Sometimes you need to see a periodontist or another specialist, and normally that means making a separate appointment at a totally different location but here, you don't have to go anywhere else. I saw Dr. Sofia Valenzuela, and she is an amazing dentist . She is knowledgeable, gentle, kind and genuinely cares about her patients. The entire staff is just as impressive, everyone in the office is professional, and welcoming. Another thing I really appreciate is that you don't have to wait for anything you need. They are very efficient and their scheduling is great at accommodating busy patients. They did a great job fitting me into a time that worked for me.

Honestly, I wish I could be friends with all of them! I've come here for pictures, X-rays, cleanings, deep cleanings, and most recently wisdom teeth removal. Every experience has been amazing, but it was my wisdom teeth removal with Dr. Kamal that drove me to finally write this review. I was terrified going in. I put off getting my wisdom teeth out for 5-7 years because my pain tolerance is laughably low (getting my ears pierced was traumatic enough). I had to get all 4 removed at once to relieve some pain I was experiencing, and from the first conversation, the team completely reassured me. They went over everything, post-op plans, expectations, recovery tips and made me feel like I was genuinely in good hands. But even then, I had no idea just how committed they were to making this comfortable for me. The surgery? Flawless. I didn't feel a single bit of pain or discomfort not before, during, or after. I'm someone who cries at a paper cut, so to walk away from oral surgery without pain? Truly a miracle. I chose IV sedation, and it was so easy , i fell asleep, and next thing I knew, I was at home, pain-free and minus four teeth. Recovery has been just as smooth. No pain, no issues, and if there ever was a moment of mild discomfort, Tylenol took care of it. I went in for my post-op checkup and everything is healing beautifully. Ill now be starting my invisalign journey with them. Dr. Kamal is amazing, and I still can't believe how positive this entire experience was. I couldn't have asked for a better team or outcome. She claimed decay could be hiding under them even though X-rays showed none. I agreed to proceed. Both gold crowns were removed at the same time. I asked the dentist if there was any decay, she said "Not really". As she was preparing the temporary crowns via drilling, I flinched twice from sharp pain. She stopped drilling after the 2nd flinch, but instead of offering more numbing, she recommended a root canal which I immediately refused. The temporary crowns were placed and each one broke after only a few days A week passed and the new porcelain crowns came in from the lab. Both of the new crowns were much larger than the crowns they replaced. The dentist declared one of the crowns to be too large and sent it back to the lab, but the other crown she continued to cement on my tooth. The crown was so high on one side that I could not move my teeth side to side in one direction. I had to use a Dremel tool to remove enough plastic from my night guard so that it would fit in my mouth. Same problem with the night guard when the 2nd crown came back from the lab, I had to use the Dremel tool again. Extremely disappointed with the aggressive sales tactics, poor pain management, and low quality of work. I will not be returning.

After calling my insurance 2x and confirming that I do not have to pay a deductible, pay for cleaning, nor x-rays, Elle denied what my insurance said and told me that "they didn't know what they were talking about" and that "I did not understand." Angela, the person who cleaned my teeth, was not up front with me about how much fluoride and the laser treatment on the gums would cost. Both times I went she pushed it upon me to get it, even though the Dr never told me I needed it. It is clear that this place discriminates against younger individuals like myself, and will take advantage. They are hungry for sales and do not care about the patients needs. Elle was condescending, unprofessional, defensive, argumentative, and un-helpful. Even after trying to explain to her countless times what my insurance told me, she continued to tell me they are wrong. I have never been to a dentist office so unprofessional and discriminatory as this one. Elle was only "able" to reduce my $192 charge to a $138 charge, which is still absurd for a cleaning. However, since the fees for laser treatment for the gums and fluoride were not explained properly, and pushed upon me, now I am stuck paying $138. Elle did not rectify the situation, nor did she make it better. Completely unprofessional behavior from a manager-and I hope the owner is aware. I recently switched to this dentist office because I thought they would be better for me, but they proved me wrong. These people are money hungry and take advantage of younger people. I will not be coming back here again. I advise everyone to be careful going here as well cause they might do the same thing to you.

For example, I drew a hygienist that spent about 10 minutes with me, then declared she was done; simultaneously there was a background conversation obsessed with nailing down my next appointment. However, I had an appointment today that turned it back around for me. The dental assistant was very kind, friendly, considerate, and competent. My new dentist, Dr. Brittany Cortes, could not have been nicer or more friendly or more professional! I got the impression that Dr. Davis (who apparently must still have a connection with the business) had a hand in hiring the new staff. If so, I am not surprised. If you're turned off by the recent bad reviews, I'd recommend you give them another chance.

Our son got his braces off and needed a few veneers. Dr. Burkett was super thorough in her recommendations and the benefits of composite veneers for a teenager who is still growing. The veneers made a huge difference to his new smile and it was just about an hour in that chair because the veneers were made in the office. Voila...he now is smiling ear to ear! She even gave her recommendations on teeth whitening options that's very transparent and in the best interest of the patient. We had an extremely positive experience and I am confident other patients will be treated like an honorable guest and provided with the best care.
