The fish to rice ratio is good! - Tamago nigiri : I took this off the revolving bar and it was yum. The egg is sweet and soft. - salmon nigiri : That one was decent as well. Wasn't the most freshest but good and not bad. - Edamame : Standard and didn't have seasoning on them. They also give you these fried sweet chip like things? FOOD * Seaweed salad: The presentation of the salad was outstanding and it was very tasty and lightly seasoned. * Shishito peppers: A must have here...sorry they went fast before I could take a pic! * Gyoza: The Gyozas were an instant hit! We had to order two orders because the boys devoured the apps and we had to get more for the table. * Kids chicken teriyaki: The presentation was outstanding (see pic) and it came with salad. My team of 7 came here for a lunch on a Friday at 12, were seated pretty much immediately and had a great time. Prices are pretty reasonable and everyone loved the sushi. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the waiter wasn't particularly knowledgeable about it the rolls- I'm vegan so I don't eat honey, and someone asked if if would be possible to get the honey walnut avocado rolls without any honey, and the waiter said yes, which was just not true. The roll is made with honey coated walnuts, and it was pretty obvious when it came out that the walnuts had honey on them. However there are a number of rolls that I'm pretty sure are legitimately vegan, and I especially enjoyed the jessie special. read more

So, I ordered the rainbow sushi that had a good mix of fish in one plate. And, I must say they did a great job there. The sushi was perfect with great flavors and felt really fresh. The tropical mango roll was vegetarian and it was flavorful. We also had the mochi dessert - both ice cream and red bean paste. Tried mixed seafood salad sonomono, which is like a ceviche on cucumber salad, not the same as sashimi salad as the fish is not in the raw texture but a bit like ceviche/lime cooked texture. We tried the 2 item bento with grilled salmon and tuna sashimi, it comes with a miso soup and salad. Food is not overly salty, which I like. The service here is top level greatness if you eat at the sushi train, you get a free miso soup! We did our reservation from google for this restaurant and went there before our reservation. But the host was so pretty boy and he showed us a table. We were 3. Mom who is coming from abroad to visit us, and 6yo daughter and this should have been a happy dinner for us. Then the lady (later we learnt she is boss's wife) came to our table with her terrible loudly and angry voice, weird body language yelled us that she cleaned that table now and we can't sit overhere. Everybody looked at us and I shocked and didn't understand what was she talking about. I tought this was her table and she was a customer too but a problem customer. Then I realised that she is a staff over there! What? Is that the way to tell this to us? Am I your staff? How can you shout to us while I am there with my family especially with a kid? Couldn't believe what I have heard! Then I called the manager. She yelled I am the manager! She was like crazy, her eyes, hair, manners.. Then boss came to our table and he told that we are right, sorry sorry. While we were talking the lady came again and yelled again like we were her enemies! I believe that if we were outside or if there was noone there she would try to hurt me. She started to talk with her own language. How can I know that what she told? She was passing our tables with the voice like snake tsss and rolling her eyes. She was exactly making a tsss sound like a snake. She showed us with her hands to other customers and talked about who knows what. The boss was apologizing desperately but she was yelling just behind him. She was acting like we were insects. My daughter was so scared because of her behaviors and my mom also shocked! They made me very ashamed towards my family. Then I arrenged other restaurant( Yoshi Sushi) which had better atmosphere. Right on Main Street, can't miss it. There are tables and a sushi counter. They don't use it as a bar so sitting there loses function. Prompt seating, menus and water. Nice big menu, many choices. Bento and sushi and a small beer, but the beer listed isn't available. The sushi arrives and it's 3 out of 4 correct. He seemed distracted when he took my order. We had three very different rolls, and each was five stars: slightly crunchy on the outside, and many surprising, tasty flavors and textures on the inside. My favorite had a little fresh mango. The hot house saki was above average: great on a cold night. And the decor was warm and welcoming. The seats around the Sushi island aren't cramped at all, plenty of space, and still close enough to neighbors to have a conversation. No loud music to talk over. I've always enjoyed coming here. Been coming off and on for about 10 years. John, the owner/manager, has always been very friendly to me and the food is always really satisfying. It's been my goto sushi place when I'm in Los Altos and I always look forward to coming here. It's hard to see how hard the pandemic has hit family run establishments like this. So many places are now owned by corporations that make it hard for family establishments to compete. This used to be a sushi boat place which was great for kids and families. The health restrictions of the pandemic forced them to go through a remodel and lose the sushi boats. The remodel is beautiful, but it's been hard for them to get back on their feet with the loss of old "sushi boat" clientele and in many ways having to reestablish themselves. If you love sushi and love supporting local business - please consider giving them your patronage, enjoying their food and service, and making it a "regular haunt" for you and your family. We need to support and protect good businesses like this. SPREAD THE WORD. I recommend their hand rolls in particular. Prepared right in front of you. Super good. read more

NOPE. While the fish was good, the sushi rice was TERRIBLE. For the higher price, the sushi should've been spot on. The sushi rice was undercooked (not old or dried out) and the seasoning of the rice was weird or maybe not even there. The rice needs to compliment the fish; this rice really ruined the sushi. Called this evening to verify that infact they are sushi boat and made a reservation. Upon arrival and after we sat we found out that there is no boat or that it's not functional yet. Disappointed because we came all the way just for the boat. We don't eat indoors since Covid but since it's holidays and we thought there would be a boat we made an exception.
