i had my rear brakes checked again,6 months later now, with a different shop yet. This time it's with GoodYear . They told me my rear brakes are in excellent shape with 70% left. I wanted to be absolutely sure before I give any negative review hence the time delay, after checking with different shops . I am convinced now the low measurements they gave on my brakes were just to scare me into replacing both the brakes and the rotors. Horrible. They were honest when looking at my vehicle and did not try and deceive me into additional "repairs" I had a 100point done on my vehicle prior to servicing so I knew the exact technical issue prior to coming in. Mainly I'm impressed with the honesty of the employees here. I will be back for any future repairs I may need for my car. The review below about dishonesty and lack of competency to fix the car in the first round sounds to me like the person didn't want to pay the full inspection fee and so she told them no diagnosis, just do what I have googled up to be the issue and had google'd wrong. I called Sun Auto Service at 12:00pm asking if they would have enough time to get my Jeep in for an oil change and tire rotation. While them changing my oil they discovered an oil leak. They did a diagnostic dye leak test. I was Quoted $1400 to fix the leak. I opted to come and pick my vehicle up and bring it back to them the next day to get the work done. Throughout the day I asked several times if the tires had been rotated and oil change completed. I also asked again for confirmation before I headed to the shop to pick up my vehicle. Upon arriving to the shop I asked again for confirmation that the tires had been rotated. I was assured for a 4th time that they were done. I paid my $247 bill and went out to find that my tires had not been rotated. I marked my rim on one tire before leaving my vehicle so that I could ensure the tire rotation was completed. I felt lied to, taken advantage of and disrespected. It made me question everything they had "done" at that point because they hadn't been honest so far. It also determined that I would not give this place $1400 additional to repair my leak as I cannot trust them. I want to say that the manager Alan was very kind and helpful. It was not his fault that the technicians lied to him. But as a manager you have to take ownership of your employee's dishonesty. So here's your reminder folks to make sure you are using a business you can trust and remember to mark your tires!!!! It's unfortunate that a task that takes 5 minutes was worth lying to a customer about. read more

Ordered an exhaust pipe from them. Was told it could be a month before the part comes in. A month and a half goes by and I had to call them. They told me they were tracking the part and would call me right back. 2 weeks later no call. Got the tail pipe fixed at 1/3 of the cost at another auto repair shop. read more

However, I confirmed today that they did not rotate my tires with the oil change as they claimed they did. Honesty and integrity are mandatory for me at work and in life. And this place falls short. Homer is terrific! Yes, there's a certified Audi shop across the road, but, for the simpler work, like oil changes, this shop is just fine. They've also done more serious (equates to expensive) work on my Audi, and have even done a few things gratis while they were already under the hood, or to correct one odd problem or another. The staff is very pleasant and professional. 4 stars because they don't offer loaner cars. That said, Homer gave us a ride home in his personal vehicle, when we had to drop one of our cars off overnight because they had to wait for the part they needed. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Sun Auto for years. They do consistently great work, and are very organized and professional. Besides being very thorough, they also perform their work with great efficiency. I have been to a lot of other shops in the past that hold on to your car for several DAYS to complete repairs. I have had major repairs done at Sun Auto and am almost certain I've always gotten it back the same day (even when they had to order parts). Besides the quality work, the thing that stands out to me about them is their honesty and integrity. A few years ago one of their service advisors saw a problem with my car and recommended that I get it fixed at the dealership because he knew it would be covered under my warranty for free. I was blown away because he was willingly turning away short-term revenue, knowing that it was establishing trust that would keep me as a long-term customer. And he was right. I've been coming back for years and have had other subsequent experiences where the service advisors make recommendations based on what's best for you, not what's best for them. We had visited a previous repair shop in the area for repairs. After their quote, we called Sun Auto and they beat it by a couple hundred bucks. So we dropped my Lexus RX 350 off around 4:00pm on a Friday. They called early Sunday am and the lug nut to remove my tire was not in the glove box. Long story short, they other auto shop had it and was closed till Monday. Sun Auto offered up a few options including a new set from the Lexus dealer for about $100, simply in an effort to get me back on the road before Monday. We decided to hold off, and we'd just show up with the needed part from the other shop on Monday. Andrew called Saturday afternoon and SURPRISE! They got broke off the other set and got me a new set, at no additional cost. Car was ready. Less than 24 hours after dropping it off. Thanks Andrew and Austin. You guys were great! read more

Worst car repair experience ever! Went in to get oil pan gasket replaced and have my AC checked as it was making a funny noise. Supposedly I needed a compressor. Nearly $2000 to repair those two things!!! I nearly had a heart attack!! One week after I had to take a loan out to repair....my AC was working worse than before, took it back. They couldn't do anything about it. I have to run my AC on max temp for it to get cool. I know this is Texas but I've been in colder cars! Also my car now makes a weird noise when I accelerate now! It NEVER did this before! But I won't ever go back to them to have them check it over! Moral of the story....my car ran better before I took it to Sun Auto! read more

On two separate occasions I've had minor vehicle issues that needed addressing and on two separate occasions these guys literally stopped what they were doing to ensure I was taken care of and back on the road ASAP. Jordan, Homer, and Austin did me right: fair pricing and quality work completed right the first time. I can't say enough positive about the service I received from these guys and their technicians. They had all types of cars in the shop as well, ranging from entry-level Japanese cars to high-end German sports cars and sedans. Nice shop but not competent in repairs. I went to Sun Auto Cedar Park about three weeks ago because my check engine light came on and the car would sputter when I tried to accelerate. They quickly diagnosed a problem, I would need a new fuel pump and some other tune-up type repairs (new spark plugs, radiator hose, etc). The price tag was $2500 for the repairs but being my car was paid for and they assured me this would fix both the engine light and the sputtering, I reluctantly decided that $2500 now was better than 5 years of car payments. The car was fixed fairly quickly and I picked it up the next day. They had in-house financing so luckily, I thought, I was good to go. Four days later, I have to fill up with my first tank of gas since the repair. Right as I left the gas station my engine almost stalled out and the sputtering continued. Furious at this point, but took it back to Sun Auto to ask them to check the repair work and figure out why my problem wasn't fixed. They could not replicate the problem and basically told me the car was fine. I was shocked but hoped the sputtering was just because it was my first tank of gas after all this fuel work. I picked up the car and nervously drove home. Two weeks went by, me enjoying my 60/mi a day work commute in a car that still sputtered. Then it happened. I knew I wasn't imagining things. On my way to work one morning, my car stalled and seized up. WHILE I WAS DRIVING. A quick panic attack and a call to Sun Auto, and my car was on a tow truck back to their shop. They checked my vehicle and again told me they could not replicate the problem and asked that I come pick up the car. I yelled and asked how this could possibly be true, and after some very pointed yelling on my part the shop representative said they would keep the car another day and try again. The next day comes and I get a call from their service manager... I need a new gas tank, something about charcoal getting in the fuel line, yadda yadda; $1300. I told them not to touch it and picked up my car. It is now sitting in my driveway, completely unreliable and I'm paying for a rental car. All because they couldn't competently diagnose a fuel system. They essentially quoted me a repair for half of my problem and let me be on my way. Even upon my return, it wasn't until I insisted that they finally found the problem. Not an unrelated problem or anything completely different, but yet another problem with my fuel system. I have no plans to ever use this shop again and would think the same of their other locations. They might be fine for an oil change or a small tune-up but they are not in my opinion, able to do anything more. read more

They only get three stars because they are convenient located and did try to resolve an issue under warranty. It shouldn't take two returns to get the brakes right. And still they weren't right. The second return they offered "performance parts" which shouldn't be needed for a decade old 4Runner. Ended up taking my ride elsewhere to find the botched job was ruined calipers. I did enjoy I could drop my vehicle off and go enjoy a movie and shopping while it was being repaired. I also enjoyed that the staff are personable. But that gets you no where if the work isn't good quality. The brakes weren't my only problem. I had a different repair in which they ordered the wrong part. They had promised my vehicle back but couldn't deliver and didn't tell me until the end of the day leaving me scrambling for a ride to work the next day. They apologized but that didn't change the fact that my car was drivable and they chose to tear it down without having parts on hand and didn't want to put it back together or notify me proactively. They said it was the supplier who delivered the wrong part which is could certainly be true but given the brake issue I don't trust that they just have poor quality work with good intentions. I'd avoid this place unless you're looking for a quick oil change. Even then.. make sure you check your filter, plug and dipstick.... read more

On Monday August 7th I went in to this location for an appointment that I had to get my oil changed. After an unfortunate event and some miscommunication over a coupon and some wording I left pretty disappointed in this place and the customer service associated with it. I reached out to corporate and had a very friendly conversation with them and was told that they were unhappy with how my time spent in their store went. On the following Tuesday I received a call from Austin the store manager. He wanted to hear my side of the situation and explain to me that he himself was also very disappointed in how my time in his store was spent. He was incredibly friendly, and extremely understanding of why I left confused and disappointed. He offered me my money back (which was not my intention), and offered to credit me for another oil change the next time I come in. He went above and beyond what I could have expected. He could have easily called to say "I'm sorry" and that would have been that. Speaking to who he is as a person and who he is as a business owner he exceeded my expectations of him and Sun Auto. I am completely greatful to Austin for not only contacting me but for the way he handled this unfortunate situation. I look forward to the next time I take my car in for service! * I originally gave this location a one star review because of the way my initial situation was handled by the staff at the time of my appointment. This was my second visit to Sun Auto. I took my vehicle in to get a headlight bulb replaced in June. They took care of it immediately and for a very reasonable price. I was so pleased with their service I inquired about a future oil change. Alan recommended that I make an appointment. I called in advance to schedule an oil change for Thursday, August 8. I arrived on time; they got my car in right away. I mentioned that I was hearing a noise when I made sharp left turns and asked them to check it. An hour later, Homer took me out to show me what they had found. Not a surprise that I did need some repair. Yes, I was a little shocked to hear exactly what was needed and what it would cost so I called my son. (Being a single woman with very little mechanical knowledge can make you feel very vulnerable in an auto repair shop!) Homer had printed out a sheet explaining the repairs and exactly what it would cost. My son agreed, based on his own experience with a Chevrolet Suburban, that everything sounded reasonable. The service was going to take several hours since parts had to be ordered. Homer offered to give me a ride home so I wouldn't have to spend all afternoon in the waiting room. They were able to complete the work by close of business that same day; I was very relieved as I had an out-of-town trip planned for Friday. I was very pleased with the customer service and the quality of the repairs; Stephen and Donnie did a great job! Lolita, (my 2012 Chevrolet Equinox), made the trip to Dallas and back with no problems and no more noise. I would highly recommend Cedar Park Sun Auto; I trust them. read more

I was referred by Discount Tire on 1431. The guys at Sun Auto Service took me right in and worked on my car for 3+ hours. The repaired what they thought was the issue but turns out.. the ghost tick was still there. Bummed.. but I wasn't charged for the repairs of the mis-diagnosis. Thank you, Sun Auto!! I'll be back for sure. Also.. the guys had ordered lunch in (from Cherry Creek Catfish in Leander).. they ordered too much and shared with those of us that were waiting. So very nice of them! WOW, what a god awful experience. This guy, Cody, seemed swell. Very helpful and charismatic. That is until he straight lied to me about all the issues with my car and showed he was completely full of crap! I thought the whole "if you're a lady car guys will try to take advantage of you" was something of an old trope. Well ladies! Not here! Come to this place to get told lie after lie! And told "if You hurry and agree to the services now before 4 pm I can get you a great deal cus I know a guy." Oh yea ok. Gee thanks, that brought my grand total from $2000 to $1800. I came in because occasionally my car wouldn't start. But they found a lot more than I thought they would. He said my oil was bone dry, I had a leak a really bad leak. I had a problem with my alternator, and I needed a new battery desperately. Guess what the kicker is though? I'm not an idiot. I told them I didn't think that was what was wrong with my car, and on top of that I just had an oil leak fixed so I didn't think that was happening either. I told Cody if anything was wrong with my oil I'd rather take it to my other car guy 45 min out, because he fixed it two months prior and it would be on him if there were an oil leak still. On top of that, I took it by auto zone to check my battery before I ever went to this place and they said it was perfect. Very different from Cody's "we could barely get a read" whatever that means. I hadn't totally thought Cody was garbage yet, and gave him the benefit of the doubt and said to change my battery then, and I'll drive it to my guy for the oil issues since it would be on them for not fixing it. Said he couldn't do that "in good conscience" because I'd just destroy the battery with how bad my alternator was. I told him then there was nothing he could offer me. I'd change the oil out myself in the parking lot and I'd have my boyfriend jump start the car if need be. When we go to pick up my car, surprise surprise I had oil! I believe he said bone dry". Took it to the other guy, and found out my battery was great! No oil leak! Alternator looks fantastic! Guess what it was? Why was my car sometimes not starting? It had disassociated itself with my freaking ELECTRIC KEY!!!! Cost me $300 to get some new keys. Been driving like a dream for over a month since I got that fixed. Thanks Cody for proving you guys are scum! **Update** my reply to this kind stock photo responding to all reviews. That's great info about batteries and alternators however it was neither that were bad. It was my Electric key. So you're saying I would have spent all of that money and my car still wouldn't have worked. Thank you for "topping off my oil", however my oil was most definitely not topped off. I said there was oil in it when you guys claimed it was bone dry, however I did have to put oil in my car in the parking lot. You told me I HAD an oil leak and that I would have to pay said amount. Not that y'all were going to clean up my engine to verify if there was a leak, none of that was "explained to me" as you put it. Essentially, you guys guessed and all of your guesses were wrong. You wouldn't have found that out until after you ordered replacement parts, which I would've paid for even though they weren't needed. If my car didn't work after all of that (which it wouldn't have because those weren't the issues) you would have said "we found another problem", not oh wow none of those things were the issues, let's uninstall all of these replacement pieces and eat the cost on us! Not to mention cost of labor on your technicians having to install uninstall etc. I appreciate you taking the time to reply, however your response is defensive and doesn't take accountability for the simple fact you guys were wrong and it would have cost me a lot of money, in the middle of a pandemic. I have tried a number of mechanics but finally found the place for me and my cars needs. Sun Auto is , to me, the company you want to do business with. I believe they are honest and they operate a great business. My experience: After finding a coupon online for Sun, I decided to try them out with an oil change. I needed much more than just that but it was a good place to start to see if they were customer oriented and fair and honest. They did not disappoint! In fact, it's the best automotive repair shop I've ever been to. They checked many items on/in my car, partly because that's what their standard oil change offers and also because I asked for them to check certain other things and give me an estimate. Matt, who I found to be very knowledgable and besides ever so courteous(something not often found at auto shops), came back from speaking with the mechanic, very professional, and explained to me, in words I could totally understand, what he had found to be problematic. I was aware of most of them. But not all. And the prices he quoted were, to me, Very reasonable! So I gave the ok to start the work, the mechanic, I wish I could remember his name, very polite man, began and after 3 or 4 hours, I was told my car was ready. To me, it drives like a new one now. I will be returning to have the remainder of the work done soon! read more

I had a recurring issue with my Jeep that was not diagnosed correctly at another shop who is owned by Sun Auto. I was extremely dissatisfied and went back to the shop to get the paper work on work that was done so I could take it to another shop. Rhett from Sun Auto in Cedar Park was filling in at that shop and said that he had a tech who was very familiar with Jeeps and this issue and that the work would still be under warranty at the his shop. I took the Jeep there and the service and expertise at his shop was outstanding. They not only completed the work, but identified and additional part that was broken at the other shop and repaired that as well. They worked with my warranty company and completed the work on time. I had placed a review on Yelp last week on my service and was told the manager would be getting back to me " Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention, Todd. We'd like to discuss your review in greater detail. Our Store Manager will be reaching out to you soon." I have not heard anything ... I think this goes on with Yelp reviews and replies quite often. My concern is the manager was never altered of the complaint on yelp. Here is the update on the issue I had with the wheel and loose lug nuts, which I I torqued them down after the mounting issue. Here it is Monday, 8 days later, and I checked them and there is no issue with loose lug nuts. This shows me that they did not follow their guild lines on mounting wheels. My fear is if this would have happen on the highway going 55 to 75 MPH. read more

I called at 2:42 to see if they did inspections and they told me they did inspections until 4:00. I arrived at 3:39 and was told I would have to wait approximately 30 to 45 min which was fine. After more than an hour my car had not been moved. I asked how much longer and the guy said "we will try, we only do inspections until 4:00". But now it was 4:50 - so if they weren't going to do it, why not just tell me?? I asked when they closed and he said 6:00. I had some service performed on my vehicle several months ago, and waited while it was being completed. It was taking a long time, so I looked through the lobby window into the service area, and saw the mechanic using a spray can of solvent as a flame thrower to burn crickets on the floor. He was goofing off, rather than working on my vehicle. Recently, I had a repair performed due to a "Check Engine" warning light. Their repair cost was too high. When I went to pick up the vehicle, the "Check Engine" light was still on, because the mechanic had not taken the time to look. I took my truck in this past week for an oil change and a brake job. I explained what I needed and that I was very aware of some of the other issues with my vehicle and I was pleasantly surprised that #1 he didn't try to talk me into anything I couldn't afford. #2 He didn't treat me like a dumb chick who doesn't know crap about vehicles. I know very well that they don't make rotors to turn anymore they are pretty much disposable so when I bought my truck I purchased rotors from Advanced Auto Parts. When they came in I didn't check them. (my fault) I brought them in with me when I went to Sun just in case I needed them and sure enough I did. When they went in to replace the rotors they discovered that Advanced shipped me 4x4 rotors. Terry said he would work with me and see if we could get them to take the rotors back because they were still in the same shipping box with everything in there. This would help me pay for my brake job since I needed new rotors. This was something he totally went above and beyond for. He could have told me that I'd have to sell them on craigslist and I would never get what I paid for them on the off chance someone actually bought them. I don't think many auto shops would do this for anyone. I was happy that I received a full refund basically the next day. I know that the cost could have been much worse so I am happy with the final price of my bill. I feel confident that my brakes were done correctly and I don't have to worry about driving on the highway to Austin daily. I appreciate what Terry did to help me. I will continue to take my truck to get oil changes here because lets face it, I am just too lazy to do it myself. So, WOMEN..... seriously I am writing this for my fellow women.
