This place is great. As I work right next door at the hospital, it is extremely easy for me to drop off my car, head to work, and come back and pick up when finished. They have always been able to give me suggestions without pressuring me to get the work done. They always get me in for my oil changes on the day I need them. Their customer service is great! Brought in my work truck for a water leak. They diagnosed that the entire intake manifold had to be replaced, over $2,000. After they did the repair, I looked at the part, and it was only a small leak on a small pipe attached to the manifold - perhaps a $300 repair, at most, not $2,000. I wrote them, no response. Same thing happened when my daughter took their Pilot in for brakes. If you want to get overcharged, just go to factory service - these guys are very nice and very expensive. Perhaps being on "Medical Parkway" allows them to charge what the docs charge... read more

This place is SO CROOKED! My sons Jeep Cherokee had an overheating problem so we started with the easy stuff. We replaced the thermostat. It still overheated, but this thing has 170,000 miles on it so my approach is it can't hurt to replace it. I also replaced the thermal clutch because it couldn't hurt. Then I replaced the radiator with a brand new one and everything worked fine. He made one trip from San Angelo to Houston and two trips from San Angelo to Austin. No problems. This weekend on his way to Houston for Thankgiving it overheated in Llano and I drove out to pick him up. We had it towed to his mom's in Leander. I knew it was the water pump but didn't have any tools with me to do the job so we came home for Thanksgiving and I drove him back to Leander on friday. He has to report back to his command in San Angelo on monday and didn't want to take the chance of doing the job himself so he took it in to Sun Auto Service. Man! These guys... I wish we had seen these reviews before. He takes it to them and they say its the thermostat and charge him $250.00 to replace it. $250 for a stinkin' thermostat??!!! My Granny could have done that job with my ten year old instructing her! Two bolts and a gasket guys!! Then when that didn't fix it they knocked the repair charge down to $140.00. They said,'We'll give you a price break" Gee,Thanks fellas! That's mighty nice of ya to give my kid a price break after charging him for a part he didn't need. You guys are swell! So then they tell him his radiator is bad. You remember the radiator? This radiator is now three weeks old. The said they ran a "diagnostic check" on it and it was bad. Seems that the inlet temperature and outlet temperature differed by 85 degrees. What? WHAT??!!!! You mean it's working exactly the way it's supposed to??? We asked," Well, what about the water pump?" If you're paying attention to this story you know the water pump is the ONLY component that hasn't been replaced. These guys say no it isnt the water pump. It's working fine. So then my kid calls me and I tell him to get the hell outta there. He then takes it to the local Firestone. They look at it and immediately tell us the water pump is bad. Shows him where it's leaking,(The weep hole-where it's supposed to leak from when it's bad ) and proceed to fix it and flush out the system. There's NOTHING wrong with the radiator. I'm sure there was NOTHING wrong with the thermostat! So they get the old water pump out and it doesnt even have impeller blades left on it. How was that working fine?I think these guys have their diagnostic readings turned around or they could be reading them backwards because what is good is bad and what is bad is good. Maybe you have an inverter on the output of your diagnostic machine??? No. No- what happened here is simple and we all know it. These guys saw a kid in need that doesn't know much about cars and they took advantage of him. That's why they chose the thermostat. That's why they couldn't do anything else for him because it was closing time. That's why I'm writing my first online review ever. That's why karma is a ------hell, you guys know what karma is. Chances are you didn't just start screwing your customers over today. On top of all this my kid was on his way home from Goodfellow Air Force Base. Yeah, I'm not much for people playing the military card because as a veteran myself and I feel like it's done too often and can bring dishonor to our boys in uniform. I have had work on my vehicles almost since they opened in Cedar Park. I won't claim they are the cheapest, but they seem to get the job done and get it fixed. For the first time I heard the words "diagnostic fee". They must be just starting that. I guess they aren't making enough money on my $1000 repair ($2000 4 months earlier) and need an extra $60 for each visit now. I liked the place because there isn't a fee, but now I guess I will shop a little more next time because now I have pay to get an opinion. Also, wouldn't you drop the fee if you did the work you recomend?? Sun Auto, you need to rethink this, unless you are so busy that it doesn't matter. Just a thought. I took my van here because my brand new battery was continuing to lose charge and it makes a noise when you turn right or left (CV Joints). I assumed the discharged battery was due to a faulty alternator. These guys took a look at it and discovered it wasn't the alternator, however, it was a short somewhere in the wiring. I'm glad they were able to identify that and not charge me for something it wasn't. The issues I have with them is not only did it take them 3 weeks to fix this problem, when they returned the vehicle to me it had a lot more problems. For starters, the steering wheel was assembled incorrectly, the steering was turned as if you're making a right turn while driving straight. This is something I believe their QA should have identified during the test drive they performed before giving me the vehicle. The steering wheel is also missing some plastic covers, I have wires exposed on the bottom of the steering column. Another issue was I couldn't unlock my doors. My van only has 1 keyhole and that is on the drivers side. The FAB was unable to unlock the doors, it worked prior to them working on the van. I also discovered that the cup holder can no longer be closed as its hitting something. I reported this to them, they asked if I could bring the van in on a Saturday which I did. I spent all day waiting for them to fix the issue, this is the only vehicle I have. Which takes me back to the 3 week wait, I had to pay for 2 weeks on a rental before they got the warranty dept. to cover another week. So after sitting there all day on Saturday, they could not figure out why the van wouldn't work with the FAB. They asked me to bring it back the following Saturday first thing when they open so they could have it all day to take apart the door panels and trouble shoot. Remember, my van was there all day, I get back in the van and the steering wheel is still turned to the right. So basically an entire day wasted, nothing is fixed. I bring the van in on the following Friday evening before they closed so they could have it first thing Saturday morning. I also mention that the van is still making noises when you turn, this was something that was supposed to be fixed when they had the vehicle during that 3 week period. They call me around noon on the second Saturday after the 3 weeks they have this, and inform me the reason the FAB wasn't working was because of a blown fuse. Oh boy, how this was not figured out the last Saturday I spent all day is beyond me. Even I know the ole saying check the fuses before you pull the engine out to fix something. I get the van back, finally the steering wheel is correctly installed, and the doors work. I spot a bolt in the cup holder, and a sheered bolt that they must have broken to get the cup holder to close. We also noticed that you can now smell outside smells that were previously blocked when we had the recirculating portion of the AC turned on. They removed my entire dash from the van to fix the short, I suspect something wasn't assembled correctly and we now pickup the outside air. I have already paid my warranty deductible and still do not have my van fixed. I called to find out when they are going to fix what I brought the van in for, it still has CV Joint issues when I turn, it knocks really loud. I was told its on their list of items to handle and they would get back to me. Well this was 4 weeks ago, I've already called twice, I'm finished calling. This company is not reputable and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I was originally supposed to use CarMax whom I purchased the warranty from, they were backlogged and recommended I use this company because they also can service the CarMax warranty. Now I'm at a point where I need to get CarMax or legal assistance to help me resolve these issues. read more

Ok, so I gave them 5 stars on google when I got my work done back in August when we had our distributor changed in our Chevy Sub. Everything was working great when we took it out of the shop but 3 weeks ago the truck died as my son was driving it. Thank God it was down the street from where we live so they just pushed it into the drive way. My thinking was that they had put in a new part so it couldn't have been the same problem but my husband kept telling me that it was. Giving sun auto the benefit of the doubt I asked a friend of mine which is a mechanic to take a look at the truck to see what was wrong while he was looking it over I made sure my son was with him all the time and checking to see what he was doing. Low and behold it was the distributor that was bad. My friend told me that they did not replace it with a new one they replaced it with a reconstructed one. My husband and I were very disappointed. Ok still giving them the benefit of the doubt I called them up and explained what was going on and that the only reason I use a different mechanic because I thought that something else might have been wrong with the truck being that it is a 1998 so anything could have gone wrong. I spoke with Todd who told me that he would send a tow-truck out because my truck would not start. Ok great right, the truck goes into shop and next day Todd calls me to tell me that they need to charge me an extra hour because the my mechanic did something to the truck which made his mechanic take extra longer time to put into timing. Now I am not a mechanic myself but I do know a bit about cars and if the part is defective and you need to remove it, especially a distributor you need to put the timing right on otherwise you have shaking and misfires and sometimes the car won't turn on. Funny cause I told Todd this and he was like "well I don't know cause I don't work on the cars" and then proceeded to tell me that it was going to be another $200 dollars to get the timing right and that we now need to get new spark plugs and oil change and that he was not charging me for the tow. Now I have these guys working on the truck cause my husband is out of town for now but he usually does the work on our cars and we had just changed the spark plugs right before we had the distributor change in August. I told Todd that we wouldn't even be having this conversation if you had put in a new distributor but he kept telling me that it was defective. You now if he had said we'll cover the cost ok, no problem from me. So I had my husband speak with him and my husband told him to just put the distributor in and to put it in time. That he would change the spake plug and oil. Well when I went to pick it up the truck was shaking and misfiring so here I go again giving them the benefit of the doubt and had my son change the spark plugs and them went to have the oil and filter changed thinking that if they had put it on time with this is should be the problem, right. Not quiet, now I have a truck that runs rough and is out of timing cause they didn't put the timing as it should have been and finish the job that they were suppose to. I have taken 2 of my cars to them before but they have really disappointed me. Just make sure you understand what parts are being replace and their warranty on them. read more

Worst shop in Cedar Park that I have tried. I needed the high pressure power steering line replaced, it was seeping. I was going to replace it myself originally, but then I realized the line went through the engine mount, and didn't want to have to deal with removing that in my garage. Simple process if you have a rack in a shop. I had bought the OEM line from honda, for $149.00. When I called Sun Auto they said they would prefer to use there own hose for warranty purposes. I agreed to let them. Then I picked up my car, and they charged me $270.00 for the hose, which was a cheaper aftermarket line! The OEM Factory hose that lasted 115,000 miles was only 149.00 at normal retail cost. Shops get a discount when they buy parts, and then have a markup they pass onto the customer from the discounted price. They probably paid $75.00 to $85.00 bucks for that cheap line they put on, and then charged me $270.00 bucks for it! A Complete rip off. I would of much preferred to of had the original OEM factory line installed, for almost half the cost. Then they charged me $50.00 for the power steering fluid, and $50.00 for cycling in the fluid! Way over priced. The labor for actually installing the line was fine, as they have to abide by book-time, but they completely ripped me off on everything else. I became a fan of Sun Auto when I lived in Henderson, NV - they took great care of my truck. When I relocated to the Cedar Park area, I was really happy that Sun Auto was here, too. Robert and his team give me consistently GREAT service on my truck - they have given me great breaks to meet my budget, and have always kept me in the loop with what they are doing and recommendations for things they see coming with my truck. They have never misrepresented themselves or tried to sell me a service I did not need. Just today, I went out to my truck and found what I thought was a brake fluid leak underneath my truck. I called them and they told me they would make themselves available immediately to see me. When I arrived they were busy but they worked me in, checked it out, and learned that it was not the brakes but my differential hose had split - they repaired it NO CHARGE. Now that is REAL SERVICE and I can't recommend them highly enough. I don't know why someone would rate them low here - I've been to two of there shops several states apart and they have always provided me great service. read more

I had a break job/oil change/fuel filter installed. They suggested I bring a part in and they would install it for 45.00. When I brought in the part three days later, They looked at me and said "No - They never install parts that are "Brought In" and then they said that they would do me a "favor" and install it but it was going to cost 85.00. When I said you wrote it down on my invoice that it would cost 45.00 he said "he was shooting from the hip" with that price. I was upset and told them "No I was not going to pay 85.00 because they were not holding their end of the bargin. Also that morning I noticed that I was leaking gas from the fuel filter that they installed 3 days earlier. They did tighten that up. and They rotated my tires without asking me and made the car worse when I was driving it so I asked them to unrotate the tires. I had just put new tires on the front 4 days prior to my vist there. I wanted them to put my new tires back to the front. They did but after I left there I went stright to Walmart to get the tires balanced again and they could not get the lugnuts off. They said it was over torqued. I was scared that they did that on purpose. I had to go back to them and have them loosen them up. Walmart did not want to be liable for breaking the steam. I was so stressed out because of them and I will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER recommend them to anyone. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars to this shop I would. I am a student and I'm always looking for good deals, but I care a lot about my car. I found this place 2 years ago because of a coupon in the paper for an $16.95 oil change. Now that is a really good deal so of course I wasn't expecting the best service ever. I was extremely wrong in that assumption. Out of all the places I've taken my car, I've never felt as comfortable as when I give the keys to the guys here. Even taking my car to the actual dealership gives me a bad feeling. Not only do they guys at Suns Auto explain in detail the problem that I'm having and why it's happening, but they are really honest about whether the repair is necessary and how soon it needs to be done. Once I went to NTB because I had a coupon for a free oil change. The technician at NTB told me I needed over $2,000 in repairs and maintenance for my 4 year old car (I should add that I am a young female). After getting a hard time about not having the repairs done at NTB, I took my car straight to Suns Auto with the estimate paper from NTB. Not only did NTB want to replace my break pads which still had plenty of life left, they also wanted to replace my struts and shocks and do a full alignment. The guys at Suns were shocked that they would try to rip me off so badly at NTB! While I did need an alignment, none of the other things I was quoted for at NTB were even remotely necessary! Suns did the alignment for substantially less than the quote from NTB (even with the bogus "discount" NTB was saying they were giving me). I will never ever take my car anywhere else than this place unless absolutely necessary. I don't even live near them, I have to drive about 30 minutes and pass dozens of other auto shops to get to this place. The manager Rick is extremely nice to me and Terry and Chris are who I usually work with as well. They make me feel like I'm getting 5 star service for a 2 star price. I've even had the pleasure to meet and talk to the mechanic who worked on my car (sadly I don't know his name but he has tattoos on his arms and is a younger guy). The mechanic was very nice and it feels like he actually cares about my car rather than just trying to make money. I simply can't say enough about how awesome the guys here are. The negative reviews of this place make me laugh, I don't see how they are talking about the same place I take my car. I've never been treated so well at any car shop I've ever been to, they even call a few weeks after you come in and make sure you are happy with the service you had. Had concerns because I read other reviews so I talked with management and was givien a fair explanation and decided to try them out. First of all they had to work on my Taurus all day - it gave them fits and I wasn't charged extra for labor. After their work was complete they quoted me only what was of a personal safety issue which was one item - I read other reviews and if you don't want them to get into all the other stuff that they could possibly fix just tell them. Not a big deal. Not only did they fix my sons brakes but they flushed the system at no charge. I rec'd a 2 year warrantly on work done. On brake work they throw in a free oil change, my son's car did not need but my daughter's did I brought her car in the next day, they changed the oil, fixed her window for $100 less than quoted. They were able to do so by utilizing her parts and therefore were able to send new part back. How often does that happen? Oh, and did I mention that you can divide your payment into 2 if you have good Telecheck history. Exactly what Ineed as I own 5 cars - 5 drivers, one car always seems to need work. Trying to find another option since the dealer I go to is so busy, but I can't afford the convenience of these guys. Have taken both of my vehicles in for an oil change and both times they wanted to up-sell me. So, since I am trying to find another option, (My vehicles are 8 & 12 years old.) I go for it with my truck. I take it in to have the fluids flushed. The $395 service they offer and to have some new headlights and turn signals put on that I purchased at a junk yard. I am trying to be frugal you know. So then I get the call, really needs spark plugs and fuel system and radiator hoses. I'm hesitant, but if this is going to be my go-to place, I need to give them a chance. So, my vehicle now has over $1300 worth of work done on it - and mind you it's running fine, BEFORE I take it in....then, I am using the truck on Saturday and suddenly I have reduced engine power. Where did that come from?? I drive it in to them from Georgetown at 20 miles an hour (how humiliating) and they are able to take it in right away (is this good luck or am I the one paying ALL the bills). The spark plugs from 2 days ago are bad which they replace under warranty, but now they tell me I need a new throttle body. Over $700 more. I think they could have made me a better deal but they wouldn't, even after I went back to talk to them today. When I went in to talk to them about the # of hours I was charged and did I really need all that work, Robert got ugly. Mind you, I was speaking very softly, but he starts yelling. Ok, now everyone in there knows I'm not happy....there will be no trust developed. You be the judge, maybe you know more about what they are saying needs to be done, but I don't so I will go back to the dealer. He wants my business for the long term and I never walk away wondering... read more
